Sorcery Pool Updates in Issue 27, Page 2

I wouldn’t say I was any more helpful and am definitely forum PvPing at work over here... but yeah thx Wavy 🙂 -

The options are... you know... what most squishies out there are already doing. Again I am happy to elaborate to any of your friends if so desired. I would guess something like over 80% of my dozens of squishies take Ageless and no RoP. Because the additional survivability is usually unnecessary, so it’s more optimal to pad your offenses. I usually only take Barrier/Clarion/Rebirth when I have nearly nothing to gain from Ageless, and I take RoP if I also happened to want Mystic Flight. But that’s about it. And for my next build that WILL take RoP, I’m glad I will get optimal performance for only 2 slots (2 generic res IO’s). -

That’s a totally unnecessary shame. I’m sorry. -

I’d recommend seeking out one if the countless squishy-focused players that have never needed RoP or Barrier to survive and asking nicely for tips. -

If you are willing to (1) apply defender vs tanker multipliers/design formulas to those figures AND (2) *dramatically* increase recharge and/or endurance cost to account for toggles having serious costs... well then we can at least have a sincere discussion. -

You’re entitled to that opinion, sure. But I am confidant that my opinions are more in line with the current and past devs’ design visions, so I’m not too worried they’ll be strongly considering power-creep-heavy proposals. -

Farsight provides lower defense and tohit values than Fortitude plus no defense plus is not immediately perma without slots or set bonuses. And frankly, Farsight is already pretty damn OP. If you don’t think a Time defender is an easymode character I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t want every character to be that playable in one’s sleep tbh. If that’s not a suggestion of power creep, what is? Some of us enjoy that some builds still require a brain. Also, the suggestion that merely not having taunt is enough of a difference between defenders and tankers and that it’s otherwise ok for them to be about as hard to kill... is absurd and goes against every design philosophy any dev has ever expressed here or on live. -
I still don’t understand the psionic resistance... 5 6% procs + Aegis + 2 ATO procs + amplifier = still not even in the ballpark of 90% that you’d need to cap with a few more bonuses... did Invuln get psi res in some change? Maybe if you do ALL of that and then some glad armor bonuses and then rune of protection but... that leaves like no room for a half decent PvE offense. EDIT: forgot Shield Wall and Reactive Defenses in that calc. Well at least I’m getting close without RoP now, which is good because I can’t imagine you taking RoP on an Invuln tanker.

I don’t need to provide any additional support beyond “go look at how the numbers look on every other comparable power”. Find me an immediately permable click power that grants the user stats as high as Fortitude, Sonic Haven, Insulation Shield, Speed Boost, etc, and I will consider changing my position. -
Focused Feedback: Power Changes (Release Candidates)

Well I leveled up a Grav/Sonic with Sorcery for a super Singularity in anticipation of the new page. I guess I’d better get a Granite-less Stone tank ready to go next. Excited for all the cool changes to go live soon 🙂 -

The only way it could be remotely acceptable for ally-only buffs to suddenly affect self would be to cut all their values down to about a quarter of the current ones when used on self. Otherwise, yes, absolutely overpowered by any meaningful definition of the word. -

I think rephrasing repeated dev statements are, at the least, more helpful than (1) continually suggesting ideas that run contrary to repeated statements and (2) this condescending lecture I’ve just quoted. Maybe let’s stop acknowledging each other from here if that’s how it’s going to be. -
Aura of Authority (Support Set for Natural Heroes)

Insults? Wtf? Who’s insulting anyone. As for the powerset, I don’t think we need more leadership-replica-heavy sets after VEATs. -

I’m not speaking for them... only reiterating things they’ve stated themselves over and over and over.. -

I daresay the fact that human beings generally don’t have superpowers perhaps contributes to that unfortunate circumstance. -

Not really. It just depends how you define natural. Natural for heroes with characteristics consistent with real life human beings? Yeah, limited. But your imagination doesn’t need to stop there 😉 -

7.5 mil for all 3, no? Either way, considering how much more than that can be made in an hour, put me down for “willing to face the economic consequences”. -

It’s the devs’ intention though that some classes SHOULD get mezzed sooo... not sure how any of this makes amplifiers defensible. If you’re in a place where the mezzing is becoming genuinely problematic and no one has Clarion, etc... maybe time to broadcast for an empathy/pain/sonic/etc. -

I would absolutely be down for either removing amplifiers or removing the mez protection from them. Anyone that can regularly afford them can also just afford a half decent build, so the resulting outcry would be disingenuous at best. -
Instant Healing: why hasn't it been reverted to a toggle yet?
arcane replied to LEUGIM6's topic in General Discussion
I really thought the passive resists came even later so that’s not too bad. But yeah, also remember that you needed pool powers to cap defense until IO’s came out. Was i9 IO’s or was i9 purple/PvP IO’s? Was something like that. -

arcane replied to LEUGIM6's topic in General Discussion
Not exactly, but it hasn't had it perfectly easy. Back in '04/'05 my brother was running a perma-Elude scrapper and he lost interest pretty quick once they nerfed perma-T9's. And then you have to consider that, before IO's (when all the aforementioned Regen nerfs were happening, so, seems relevant), they needed that much more to cap defense without Elude - probably Weave, etc. And then after you've considered that, I believe the scaling resistance (pretty much the only reason SR can keep up in the current meta) wasn't added until much later, too, right? So SR has not always had it all that great, unless my memory is faulty here. -
I wouldn’t really say GW2 was really any more strict about roles than this. More or less every class had the option to be high damage vs tanky vs supportive. Pretty much all 3 light armor classes could be built to be insanely tanky. Agree with others though, there are nuances down to the power/powerset level that make it not super helpful to define roles/niches by AT.

Last time regen’s weakness came up I hadn’t played one since early live days. Now that I have an ice/regen brute I’m afraid to say I see no problems with the set. -

Cannot wait to see what y’all do with the other origin pools now that we’ve arrived at such awesome buffs for this whole pool 🙂 -
Close the gap? Absolutely yes. As much or more? I’ve never seen evidence of it personally.
