Are we anywhere close to a universe where CoX is like this.... I’m sorry for attacking you, but you keep minimizing all of our real experiences with the game and it’s annoying as hell. “Uh, no, you can solo +4x8 even with an Ice controller, I’m doing it right now.” - “LoL i BeT eVeRy MiSsIoN tAkEs A mOnTh LoL”.

Except that’s a ridiculous proposition because there’s no point to a video game if you have to gut away all the fun content to make it more engaging. I cannot think of a single other game I have played where maxed out characters and challenging content are, with a few exceptions, regarded by the players as mutually exclusive features that can’t coexist. That’s because that’s not how games work.

You can do everything I can do in this game. I don’t have some special dashboard of cheat codes at my disposal. Again, we’re not really using logic here are we.

I would probably still do slow afk farming with damage auras because getting anything done while afk is better than nothing 🙂 But I’d probably switch to my Bio/Rad tank for the maximal passive damage combo. It really does sound like the solution to their afk farming problem though. I for one don’t need use auto-fire for attacks in any other scenario.

Oh not this crap again. Grow up and use your brain. People are allowed to want challenges on maxed out characters, not just gutted ones. You can disagree but it only means you don’t know how video games work. No game is intentionally designed with “well if they wanted a challenge they would obviously opt out of every feature in the game” as its approach. People need to stop repeating that tremendously stupid idea.

You keep using hyperbole to describe the speeds of slower characters, and it only shows that you can’t fathom what a properly built one looks like. Most likely explanation is you’re probably bad.

Played around a little on my ice/time troller in a +4x8 farm because of this thread.. not the best example because time is OP butttt at least it does force you to take the controller epic with power boost that contributes crap to your offense. And yes ice control is “sub-optimal” too. Anyway, I am killing at an acceptable rate for me as long as I pull bosses together once their minions are dead. I have 23 damage procs and 2 -res procs on whatever this build is supposed to be, but I think I could do better if I wanted to build it more for soloing. Now on to some time with my grav/sonic, which I already know melts mobs with its build.

This. Obviously completion rates will vary wildly, but under this definition every combo can solo once a *solo-friendly build* is completed at level 50. And yes, I have an Ice Controller. And a Force Field Defender. And some Masterminds.

I have a proc abuse FA/RM+Enflame tank I made strictly to see how much I could close the gap between tank and brute by leveraging proc abuse. 6 procs in IG, 6 in Burn, 4 in Enflame. Completion times might tell a more nuanced story, but I really can’t tell that I’m slower than a Brute in a meaningful way. I do notice Burn’s long recharge when it’s bloated with procs (I have 6, but I’d recommend swapping one for a dam/rech or something - I’m sure a min/max guy like you already knows that though) instead of Armageddons, but things sure are winding up dead one way or another.

I don’t take death seriously most of the time. Even if I’m dead in the thick of a huge battle, it is usually adequate to execute a quick Awaken + Break Free + Catch a Breath + Turn on Super Speed and Zip Around a Corner maneuver if you have teammates around to cover you. And if I’m dead I was probably ignoring my inspirations, so it’s rare to be unable to do that. Debt has been reduced to the slightest tickle. There just isn’t any real consequence for death unless perhaps you’re solo and actually have to use the hospital button once in a blue moon. And quietly saying “For Frodo” right before you charge recklessly towards certain death is fun enough to mitigate whatever semblance of consequence is left over.

Every powerset combo in the game can solo +4x8 with caveats (IO/Incarnate up, AV’s not guaranteed to be included in package, absolute worst combos ever may struggle with a number of enemy groups). So this here is kind of just plain incorrect.

You should have a constant reminder of the Gull situation in the form of your travel power pop up tray. Unless you’re the kind of psychopath that actually wants to keep his pop up tray on, in which case... get thee back from me, Satan. -
Note that Irradiated Ground currently has a broken proc rate. So while 6-proccing that power yields the best AoE melee set in the game, it may not stay that way forever as the devs have acknowledged it is a broken power right now.

I want to add that this response was to address your criteria, but obviously the best thing to do is just make everything. 🙂 I can count all the powersets I don’t have at level 50 with just my two hands.

And +4x8 council only exist to give drunk people and small children a reason to press buttons without getting into any danger

You realize those boosters and catalysts still have a cost even if you happened to not pay for them with inf, right?

Oh yes that reminds me, characters I love the most will of course need *multiple* billion+ builds. My main has 3 purply boosted ones at all times with shiny little “1”, “2”, “3” macro buttons.

Agree to disagree. I call it not leaving my build incomplete. There’s also zero point to most HO’s or D-Syncs if you don’t 53 them, because at 50 they’re no more powerful than a +5 equivalent IO. Outside of rare occasions where the HO is valuable because of numerous effects (Enzyme on Venomous Gas, Cyto on Invincibility, etc), the HO / D-Sync is a complete waste if not combined to a level above 50.

If you play far more at 50 then exemplared, on the other hand, though, attuning is wasted strength. Some of us prefer to be maxed out. The only content I exemp for always seems pitifully easy (yin, manti, morty, etc) so I don’t see the point in attuning unless you (1) can’t boost something like a proc or (2) boosting will harm your proc rates to an undesirable extent.

When I spot a character of mine that has not made all the usual Null changes yet, I feel a wave of shame at my laziness and sheer incompetence. Perhaps you should all do the same. -
I think it’s probably too late for a revamp the OP wants. That being said, I would like to pick at something. The current problem with difficulty in this game is that, yes, you can choose your difficulty, but, as long as you avoid the absolute hardest content and enemy types, *+4x8* is actually considered part of the easy end of the spectrum, *even when solo*. If you understand what that 4 means and what that 8 means, that should be a ludicrous statement. And yet it’s not if you know how god damn easy CoX is. That’s slightly messed up.

Yes boosters can easily run like 200-300 mil on their own. HO / D-Sync builds can easily cost more than 2 billion.
