  1. The only reason modern games are trivially easy to port to consoles is that modern design and build tools (Unreal, Unity, &tc.) are set up to do that. And it still takes extra work. A game built without the benefits of those tools will be very difficult to port. On the other hand, it runs well on Linux, so should work fine on a Steam Deck. Captain Fabulous even helped me get it running on my phone.
  2. I guess you weren't here for the "take your kid to work day" April Fool's debacle of 2020?
  3. I hope so! But I want stuff like FREEM! and fewer piles of dead babies.
  4. The contagious entry thing used to have a bigger range.. On live I could jump across the narrow alley between warehouses, enter the door on the next-door warehouse, and be in the mission. Few teammates noticed, but if they did, I'd say "Shhh. VIP entrance." Anybody else remember Doctor Door? For a long while the Devs couldn't find an elusive bug that would cause a small random amount of damage to characters going through doors. It was enough to kill you if you were down to your last few HP. So, they added a healing effect to the doors, enough to compensate, plus a little extra. The net result: you could heal up by bouncing in and out of the mission door a few times. Several issues later, they found the bug, and eliminated the heal. Made me sad.
  5. Spirit Tree could really use the Lifegiving Spores treatment. Spores give a bit of +Regen, but my teammates tend to love it for the +END.
  6. It's one million, offered to one new player, and it's a mere 1% of the generosity shown to me by other players. I'm offering to help them get their feet wet, not bankrolling their build. But you are right; I owe a profuse thanks to all the players who have been kind enough to help out an old ex-sorceror in-game!
  7. I don't like Mid's personally, though it is really useful, it feels too much like work to me. You should certainly try it, though. I also suggest: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/49175-city-mod-installer-released/ And the first things to install should be the Vidiotmaps mod, and the double-loud glowie mod. Vidiotmaps not only shows you where the zone badges are (collect 'em all for 5 merits per zone) but, importantly, tells you where various enemies like to hang out. Essential for the "Hunt N of X enemies in zone Y" missions some contacts are fond of. And, if no one has said it before, Welcome Home!
  8. You know how your freebie buff pet from the P2W vendor can be useful, both for the minor buff, and for taking a shot meant for you? Well, these guys cost 100K each, but they're not gonna be 100K times as useful. They will take several shots for you, can be buffed and healed, and sometimes attack who you want them to. That said, they are by far the cheapest mercs to hire, and have been known to keep baddies busy while you run away. And also seen to stand there like renta-cops and watch as you get chewed to pieces. I treat them like Phantom Army (Illusions powerset, a must try on an alt!): by far the best way to get them to reliably attack your selected victim is to teleport to the other side of said victim, and the dumb pets will charge straight after you. Message me in-game, and I'll be happy to send you a million inf to play with. (My global is easy to guess...) There are other, wealthier players who will set you up to afford everything the vendors offer, for your edification and amusement. Hero to players @Yomo is certainly worth a try, last I heard he could be quite generous for a simple "Thanks!"
  9. Ha! Funny how the AH is too busy to process your request, but has plenty of time for redundant tells. Reminds me of certain online retailers.
  10. Honestly, most of mine are direct imitations... of characters I used to play in TTRPGs. Ah, bright college days! How I miss 'em!* * c.f. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl3mRjydcPw
  11. Kismet enh, for preference!
  12. Welcome back home, Snarky! You have been missed!
  13. Another approach is to spread the love around. I have a modest example here: Rocketed from a distant planet, young L'kell was blasted by cosmic rays en route to earth. Landing, he was adopted by a kindly couple who were caretakers at a secret monastery. They raised him to believe in truth and justice, but were murdered by evil ninjas. The sympathetic monks trained him to the peak of physical prowess, but he was restless and decided to seek his fortune at sea. His ship was hijacked by pirates, but he learned their ways, rose in their ranks, and eventually retired to Paragon City, where he was bitten by a radioactive superhero. An attempted cure infused him with a super-soldier formula, causing a latent mutation to manifest. Donning a costume inspired by his father's pyjamas, he became the hero known as... Contrived Origin Man!
  14. Son of a gun! Winlator 10 beta kept throwing OpenGL errors, but the latest stable version actually runs the game! At 1024x768, it seems to run fine on my Pixel 7a. It really, really, needs a mouse and keyboard, though! I have a little bluetooth one with a touchpad I'm going to try once I get batteries for it. (And can remember how to make it enter pairing mode!) Thanks very much, Captain Fabulous! You're my hero! NB: I had to run the game in 32-bit mode, and installed both Mono and Gecko with the included installers. (And of course had to sideload Winlator. Because Google.) Thanks again!
  15. No. I've tried with LimboX86. I'll have to check out Winlator, thanks!
  16. Of course it was Gunner's guide! Thanks, Shenanigunner!
  17. Don't give up! No one is saying that! But the title of this thread is enough to make folks uneasy. (Here goes Grandpa with a history lesson!) Back in 2004 a bunch of Marvel's lawyers got accounts on CoH, logged on, and proceeded to make the most infringing characters they could. Marvel then sued NCSoft, submitting screenshots of those characters as evidence that CoH was a big ol' grab at Marvel's IP. You can look up the details, but it really was a most sordid affair, and one that could well have consigned our City to the "ashcan" of comics history. Marvel was desperate in those days, and it showed. The judge figured it out, and dismissed the case, but everyone who remembers it is just a bit more skittish than they might be otherwise.
  18. Because seasons are really weird. Think about it: Winter officially starts on 21 December, the solstice. So, technically, Winter is the season where the days get longer.
  19. Nice guide, thanks! Proton-tricks might help unlock some more potential. Now if someone would just come up with an Android recipe!
  20. I'm a big fan of the SB, it would be great for it to get some love. But I always assumed the Fixer was the person narrating the thing, and what would the Maker do exactly? I guess you could say, "Mission accomplished! The Maker has a gift for you..."
  21. You are quite right, 15% vs 10% bonus. I guess I'm a sucker for the +20% Regen Numina two-fer!
  22. I can't find it, but I'm sure someone had a guide to having KEY-press doing one thing, and KEY-release doing a different one. Or have the video games finally rotted my brain like Mom used to say?
  23. It's worth mentioning, I hope, that +10% Max Endurance and +20% Max HP are just waiting there for the taking. Some of the new folks may not know about:
  24. Wait, there's another use for Wormhole?
  25. May I humbly suggest, as a skating-by-on-the-parody-clause character myself, that the OP (and the game) would be better served by recasting the original ask? Say: I'd like suggestions on making these guys in an AE arc: Neodymium - a magnet-themed leader-type Tree-frog - a hopping mad minion The Slob - a big sloppy guy who soaks damage et cetera. That way, the HC guys have no trouble, the players may or may not be in on the jest, and the OP gets (hopefully) helpful advice.
