Batman's rep in his world
DoctorDitko replied to DoctorDitko's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Makes sense. I remember that bit from JLA:WAR and the "New 52." (About the only thing I liked about the New 52.) I'd think that most folks would think he was a vampire. He avoids daylight, appears and vanishes mysteriously, is very strong at (at least sometimes) seems to shrug off bullets. My favorite DCAU quote about him is from World's Finest (aka The Batman-Superman Movie): Luthor: What makes you think you can kill Superman when you can't even handle a mere mortal in a Halloween costume? Joker: There's nothing MERE about that mortal! Of course Luthor can be expected to know more than your average Joe. -
Do you think the average person is aware that Batman doesn't have super-powers? How about the average villain? It just seems to me with his theater and fearsome rep, and the number of really powerful people on his earth, it doesn't seem like folks would assume he's just a man in a costume. Opinions?

A friend and I made a pair of toons intended to duo together, with a Dark theme. (I'm a DD Corrupter, he's a DD Dominator, if it matters.) We have run all missions together, no side mishes, levels close to equivalent. In Striga, Stephanie Peebles -- after the first few errands -- gives us missions in differing order: I'll get a hunt BP, he'll get a door mish, then vice versa. If that's working as intended, fine, otherwise kinda strange. We wind up having to run several mishes twice, rather than them completing in sync. (I'm set to prompt for shared mishes, and so is he.)

You crazed mooks have contaminated me with your forlorn, hammy puns! Now I have been possessed, my only escape is to summon a new doppelganger, a rogue Tsorceress (with purple eyes) named: Merry Tsoo! (Meet me on torchbearer if you value your independence!)

Yeah, thanks, Sonny Bono! The Supreme Court at the time essentially said "Infinity -1 year isn't the same as Infinity." It is very sad that the most famous detective in the Western world has been adapted in so many creative ways, but the second-most famous will never be part of the public domain.

Well, going by the topic title, I was expecting "Allow us to hire a gull to hang around our bases!" Why not? I've got a tailor, trainer, insp salesperson. Why not a world-warping seagull?

Teleportation Rework would be awesome.
DoctorDitko replied to ScarySai's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Please add my vote for combining TP Foe & Recall Friend! Also, Mystic Flight is currently the top teleport power in the game, and that's sad! TP hover should persist until another TP or movement happens. No one should fall out of the sky and get ganked because of their Travel power! TP+lag=debt! If updating the screen is a problem, I have no issue with reducing world detail while TPing; let there be a 4th-dimesional fog that slowly clears once you have arrived. -
Allow Wormhole to work on lvl 54 Bosses
DoctorDitko replied to pwntoon's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Agreed! I have a teleporter grav controller, too. All the TP powers. All the TP temp powers. All the TP, all the time. (TP toons, let us disperse!) My favorite is Wormhole, although I do wish it also got a bit more range. When I wormhole a group up to the top of the sky, some of them arrive back in the fight with enough health to matter. (Also, Team TP really can freak people out. They've never seen it before!) -
Can We Talk About Accolade Click Powers?
DoctorDitko replied to Derek Icelord's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Well, if it was actually useful, then the Crey troops would be equipped with them! (PS: I saw what you did there!) -
I was very sad on Live to discover that my "Teleporter" concept character's lovely Propel power didn't show consistent projectiles. To me, I would hit a bad guy with a junked car, and quip "Eat Buick, buddy!" To my confused teammates, the object appeared to be a barrel, a gargoyle, or other random items. No two the same (except rarely, by chance). Is there some deep, game-changing reason this happens? Seems like our characters are exchanging info about buffs, SFX colors, costume changes... But sending an object ID is out of the question? At the least, couldn't we use a one-time pad approach, where on login a list of objects is generated which can be shared to my teammates? If you guys fix this, I promise to double your salaries! In any event, thanks for listening, and many thanks for my second life back!

Ah, guess that makes sense. Something similar shows up as a red ring around my Targeting Drone on my Rad/Dev blaster. Thanks!

Moonbeam, on a Dark/Dark Corrupter. Not used to seeing it on my Rad Blaster.

Please, let us lock our tray arrangement!
DoctorDitko replied to DoctorDitko's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Precisely! Though, being able to prevent the trays from being dragged out of position would also be a blessing. -
What are your favorite City of Heroes "Dad jokes"?
DoctorDitko replied to Robotech_Master's topic in General Discussion
Every time I fight those Lost Bosses with the broken TVs on their heads, I can't resist: "Hey, buddy, does that get anything but the Ugly Channel?" ... And I'll keep doing it until someone laughs! -
What about the red-and-yellow ring? What does that signify?

ANY way to change character height AFTER creation?
DoctorDitko replied to sindyr's topic in General Discussion
As an added bonus, it's free if you do it before level 10! Good time to fill any spare slots with interesting variations. -
In the help screen for the log parser, the "settitle.txt" link is throwing a 404. (Noticed when I saved and tried to load and got html parsing errors for the custom 404 page.)

Gnarly's Speed on Demand Bindkit
DoctorDitko replied to Robotech_Master's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
Just for fun, try doing the search-and-replace on the SpeedOnDemand30.bas file itself. Then you won't need to massage the output files. Nice find, thanks for this! -
I wish there was a "Lock Trays the way I put them, dammit!" option. I use the mouse to trigger powers a lot (weird, I know) and accidentally hitting the tiny hidden arrows at the label end of the tray drives me crazy. Also hate acci-dragging a tray out of position, either can get my character killed.

Dual-boxing with Tequila: advice sought
DoctorDitko replied to DoctorDitko's topic in General Discussion
Thanks, that's helpful! -
I've tried running two toons at once, but I think I'm doing it wrongTM I cloned my c:\games\CoH folder to c:\games\CoH2, and created an new account, no problem, but the two fight over ownership of Tequila. Every time I launch either instance of Tequila I have to go into options, change the install path to the one I want, exit Tequila, and launch it again. Once I get both launched, things work pretty well just alt-tabbing with the sidekick on Follow, spamming heals or whatever. (And using the /maxinactivefps 1 command keeps the resource use down, which I appreciate.) But launching both is a pain, to the point where I seldom bother. Any advice from folks who do this every day? Also, Microsoft and I are mortal enemies, so I prefer to run under Linux, but let's not cloud the issue here. Just assume I'm running a stripped-down Windows 10.

To the point, though, did recent changes make it so turning off XP isn't useful?

is there a tray lock slash command?
DoctorDitko replied to Trogdor_a_Burninator's topic in Help & Support
There is a "Lock Powers in Tray" toggle at the bottom of the General options page.
