Welcome to the non-greedy CoH! Lucky you!

Usually, what I'll see wrong info about (and I do this, too) it's OUTDATED info. (Nobody wants to hear me waxing nostalgic about how things were before the Global Defense Nerf.) So if something's changed (and again, I do this, too) it's nice to say, "Not anymore. They changed it in issue 24!" (For example.) Or if you want to be very diplomatic, "Ah, if only it still did that. Alas, Jack applied the nerfbat back in Going Rogue to anyone who wasn't a Classical scholar..."

But the stomp was the only good part, and it's not enhanceable. Thus my "meh." Glad you enjoy it, though! Looking forward to Utility Belt for Natural Origin characters, sounds perfect for my stalker, No Millionaire.

Sorcery seems excellent, at least on my sorcerer. Force of Will was pretty meh on my WP Tank.

Clearly, Heroclix need to be nerfed! "Jack? Get yer bat!"

Is anyone else a total slave to the thematic?
DoctorDitko replied to DrInfernus's topic in General Discussion
I love sticking to the theme that inspired a character. To the point that my Storm/Ice Defender had to take an excursion Redside to pick up Mako's Epic Pool so she could get the Hibernate (Giant Ice Cube of Awesomeness) power. It just makes it so much more fun for me. I guess it's related to the Roleplaying Urge that crops up from time to time. But I hear ya! More power to the Theme! -
To be fair, you can run... Well, let's say, "walk" x86 code on ARM platforms. It's just seldom worth it. AFAIK, QEMU is the most performant solution, it emulates at a very low level. But, in general, I think we'll need to recompile for an ARM target in order to play properly. Though I'd be happy if I could just access the Auction House from my phone! Or, heck, the costume maker, the character builder, or in-game "email."

Weekly Discussion 53: How to Increase Villain Population
DoctorDitko replied to GM Miss's topic in General Discussion
Fun, interesting ideas here, but many of them call for a lot of work on the part of the Devs. If I may, I'd like to suggest a cheaper idea, that works in the real world. In real life, why do people become "villains?" Usually because they perceive the benefits outweigh the risks. Most criminals are in it because they see a quick, easy way to get what they want. They perceive the chance of being caught is minimal, while the rewards are excellent. So: Why not give villains double xp and influence? Maybe with a more significant penalty for being defeated? Something like 4x the debt, or perhaps a "time-out" which can be reduced by performing "community service" missions. Apparently, it works in real life... -
Glad to hear it! That Chromebook is Intel-based, though, not ARM, correct? Has anyone gotten anywhere with ARM-based devices? (I would commit manslaughter do an Oranbega defeat all to get CoH running on my phone!)

Is it possible that, when people are seeing different numbers for some of these (i.e. healing IOs) that there is some difference for different archetypes? If the guy who sees 30% benefit is a Defender and the guy who sees 25% is a Blaster, could that explain the difference? Just spitballin'! PS: Sorry to commit necromancy, I actually gave up all that magic stuff for Science...

Make open-world ambushes spawn sooner?
DoctorDitko replied to RikOz's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
MY condolences. Cue Parrot Shop sketch: Well if you know it's coming, its hardly an Ambush, is it? But if you mean after you've zoned, and before you can run off and leave the hapless PCs in King's Row to deal with your 30+ attackers, some kind of notice to your team (and possible the zone at large) would be nice. -
The name of Infinite Corona (Excelsior) was reset
DoctorDitko replied to czis's topic in General Discussion
May I suggest "Coriolis" or "Aurora" as alternatives? Sympathies, I wish we all never had to worry about it. OTOH, makes for a very bad beer. Dos Equis or even Tecate suggested as alternatives. -
IIRC, they can be. I seem to remember some very funny Halloween parties with possibly some chemicals involved.

I have 11 dogs, so I'm biased. I like the big fluffy dog but I have noticed my real ones getting agitated when they hear Fluffy's howl. Fewer HPM* would be welcome. *Howls per minute

Mids' Reborn Unofficial (MRBU)
DoctorDitko replied to Felis Noctu's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
Thanks, but that's what I tried. It errors out. The file opens ok in Notepad++ and looks ok to the eye. I was hoping I could remove fields or comments or other reformatting and make it importable. Thanks, though!- 293 replies

It was pointed out that we use a lot of abbreviations, initialisms, and acronyms in this game. This can be confusing to new players. Please help me assemble a list, which I intend to turn into a guide for the unlettered. e.g.: SL, S/L: Smashing/Lethal damage or resistance depending on context. Or if one exists, curse my Duck-Duck-Go-fu and kindly point me there... Thanks!

Mids' Reborn Unofficial (MRBU)
DoctorDitko replied to Felis Noctu's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
Hi, great work, much appreciated! Now, Is there any way to import build generated from the /buildsave command into this version of Mid's? I seem to recall it worked a long time ago. Even if some manual editing of the file is needed, I'd really like to do that.- 293 replies

Gnarly's Speed on Demand Bindkit
DoctorDitko replied to Robotech_Master's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
OK, here's the deal: (Tested on Winders 10. Unfortunately.) 0. Edit the .bas file as suggested above. (Search and replace, etc.) NB: Life will be easier if you don't rename it. Make a backup copy if you're worried, but edit the original, it's easier! 1. Download Liberty BASIC at https://www.libertybasic.com/lb451setup.exe 2. Install it. 3. Run it. 4. From the File menu, Open the .bas file from wherever you put it. (What am I, your Mom? Clean up this directory, it's a mess!) 5. Select from the Run menu, "Create .TKN file." NB: Normally, you would need to copy a skeleton BASIC executable here and rename it the same as your .tkn file, but Gnarly has done this for us. (Unless you renamed things, then you are on your own! I warned ya!) 6. Run the .exe file, generate your binds. 7. Profit! (Sorry for the previous incomplete instructions, I didn't realize Winders no longer had a BASIC interpreter.) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Edit: What the heck, I'll upload the two changed files, If you trust me (in which case I wonder, why?) and don't want to mess with installing Liberty BASIC, you can just overwrite the ones you have. Make a backup first, of course! This worked for me, but may screw up your binds, drink your last beer, or borrow your car without asking. YHBW! But if you make your own changes to the source, you'll need Liberty BASIC to generate the .tkn (tokenized?) file. SpeedOnDemand30.bas SpeedOnDemand30.tkn -

Feh! Yeah, it looks like Winders 10 needs an interpreter, won't run .bas files by default. <rant>Weird. Winders will normally run anything it sees, with too many privileges...</rant> Need to create a .tkn file, then compile .bas into .exe. Let me look into it. Sorry for the misinfo. -
The Auction House: A Basic Primer On How It's Supposed To Work
DoctorDitko replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in Guides
Very detailed, thanks! Also, +1 for the TMBG reference! (Although I hear it's really more a miasma of incandescent plasma...) -
Was it called "Window of Opportunity?" It was the SG1 "Groundhog Day" episode. Just about the funniest thing I ever saw on TV! And the comedy was entirely character-driven, as the best usually is.

Batman's rep in his world
DoctorDitko replied to DoctorDitko's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Makes sense. I remember that bit from JLA:WAR and the "New 52." (About the only thing I liked about the New 52.) I'd think that most folks would think he was a vampire. He avoids daylight, appears and vanishes mysteriously, is very strong at (at least sometimes) seems to shrug off bullets. My favorite DCAU quote about him is from World's Finest (aka The Batman-Superman Movie): Luthor: What makes you think you can kill Superman when you can't even handle a mere mortal in a Halloween costume? Joker: There's nothing MERE about that mortal! Of course Luthor can be expected to know more than your average Joe. -
Do you think the average person is aware that Batman doesn't have super-powers? How about the average villain? It just seems to me with his theater and fearsome rep, and the number of really powerful people on his earth, it doesn't seem like folks would assume he's just a man in a costume. Opinions?

A friend and I made a pair of toons intended to duo together, with a Dark theme. (I'm a DD Corrupter, he's a DD Dominator, if it matters.) We have run all missions together, no side mishes, levels close to equivalent. In Striga, Stephanie Peebles -- after the first few errands -- gives us missions in differing order: I'll get a hunt BP, he'll get a door mish, then vice versa. If that's working as intended, fine, otherwise kinda strange. We wind up having to run several mishes twice, rather than them completing in sync. (I'm set to prompt for shared mishes, and so is he.)
