  1. I played Trammel, and even without PKs people still soled because of UO's spectacularly broken loot distribution methods. (And the griefers who would take advantage of them.) About the only folks I teamed with were either folks I'd known a while or with fellow members of the Treasure Hunters of Brittania. (TBH absolutely depended on the reputation of it's members because bad rep meant we wouldn't get clients. Bad apples were dropped in a heartbeat.)
  2. Sounds like I don't need it then, thanks!
  3. They're just reacting in the heat of the moment...
  4. Good advice... But the real question to answer first is if he's planning to go solo.
  5. Sorry, I didn't mean to be putting out the fire with gasoline.
  6. You don't have to shout. This argument is just going nowhere, and I find it kind of sad.
  7. Still, it would be good to know if that's a bug or working as intended... The best way to get the balance right is to have a policy of truth.
  8. I never realized there was a "no redraw" option for Katana... and then I realized that I didn't really know what "no redraw" really means. So... What does it mean? Is it useful or harmful for the Katana primary?
  9. Probably a question best asked on the Idomitable forum or Discord channels.
  10. As expected, here comes the next squares in the bingo. The claims of being unfairly treated. The paranoia. The (invariably false) claims that any behavior not approved by The Party is grounds for an instant ban. And no, that's not what I meant. I meant exactly what I said - you're reaping what you sowed when you came on here and started throwing shade. The problem isn't lack of positivity, it's that what you're tossing around is more suited for fertilizing gardens.
  11. That's because those crumbs were vacuumed up as part of the Hollows Revamp in Issue 12. After that, the Hollows declined pretty rapidly from it's older status as the zone for lowbies to congregate in. AE (Issue 14) and the changes to Exemplaring (Issue 16) were pretty much just nails in the coffin. Especially Issue 16 which eliminated the Mentor Tetris mini-game and allowed lowbies to pretty much go anywhere they wanted.
  12. 0.o People were stressing soloing when I started playing UO in 2002 - and it wasn't a new debate (for UO) even then. Heck, people were discussing what classes could solo where as far back as when I played Neverwinter Nights on AOL back in '92 or '93.
  13. For where I sit, you threw a ton of shade and put out a considerable amount of inaccurate material (followed by the usual dodge of claiming that what you presented as facts was meant to taken as opinion, until you want them to regarded as facts)... and in return the community has responded about how I'd expect such steaming heaps of stuff to be responded to. tl;dr: You sow what you reap. (I especially laughed at the ritual invocation of tyranny and the hilarious misuse of gas lighting.)
  14. How much easier than typing /ah can you actually get?
  15. In honor of Daylight Savings Time...
  16. And... what else would you expect them to be? I mean, I wouldn't expect them to be as conservative as the folks who programmed the Space Shuttle... But they're dealing with complex code (that's old spaghetti and poorly documented) and the leisure time of thousands of users. If they screw something up, they've wasted the time and energy of a whole bunch of people. (BTDT. That's a bigger psychological burden than many people realize.) A bunch of people they depend on to pony up cash on last Saturday of the month to keep the bills paid and the light on. Would implementing tons of new shiny things to attract the minority of magpies be beneficial? Would the numbers go up if they did so? Possibly. But, at least for the moment, the numbers tell a different story. The numbers make it unarguably clear that what the community at large values above all else is stability, predictability, and professionalism. Conspiracy theories need not apply.
  17. Agreed, and sounds reasonable.
  18. Very reasonable. But a lot of work for the Dev team.
  19. That's the whole point.
  20. Controllers, yeah. Tanker... are you high? Or do you have an exceptionally low "pain" tolerance? (And that's setting aside the whole apples-and-oranges thing.) A tanker will never solo like a scrapper or brute, but it's light years ahead of a 'troller or 'fender.
  21. This, ten billion percent.
  22. Myself, I would prefer smaller but deadlier spawns as an option.
  23. Kirito and Asuna are totally scrappers...
