  1. You're absolutely correct. Which is why everybody in this conversation has repeatedly agreed with you. You may not have said anything, but others have - and it's a point worth discussing.
  2. I wouldn't say that they're inherently of lesser quality... But based on what happened on Live when it F2P, it definitely attracts a "different" (and that is not a compliment) quality of player. But yeah, the prevalence/popularity of micro transaction and PTW based games has nothing to do with the sustainability of the game. It's all about preying on the playerbase to maximize profit.
  3. My toggle heavy characters vary in how often they use it, but they all use Rest to some degree or another.
  4. The conclusion does not follow from the premise. Just because corporate MMO's (ever in search of ever more profit) have largely shifted to microtransations (read: loot boxes), that does not mean that the subscription model is faulty. Ok, let's cherry pick - Ultima Online still sticks with monthly subs.

  10. Hmmm.... in no particular order: geocaching, photography (serious amateur grade), various computer games, cooking, the SCA, bookbinding... And then there's anime. I'll talk your ear off about anime.
  11. No, I basically chimed in to say that it's not the game's fault you let your inventory pile up. Thus, it's not on the game to fix a problem it didn't cause. It's not on the devs to spend time they could be spending on other, more pressing, problems to fix a problem they're not responsible for. The AH is seeded with salvage (and other items) to keep prices low... meaning it will never run out until the devs turn off the seeding.
  12. To be brutally honest, this isn't a problem with any game mechanic. It's a problem because you haven't sold unwanted salvage and have allowed it to pile up. It's on the one who caused the problem to solve it.
  13. Assuming the star is familiar with any playstyle that isn't an uncoordinated zerg rush... (As I've said elsewhere, tactical play is almost extinct in Homecoming.) Heck, assuming the star wants to (or is capable of) exerting any control or setting any direction in the first place. Both are somewhat dodgy assumptions.
  14. When you put it that way, (with the perspective of the intervening years) it kinda makes me go "WT-actual-F were they thinking?". They already had one badly underutilized route (redside), so why add another?
  15. No, it will never stop. And it will continue to cause problems in every MMO ever, in a large part because that portion of the playerbase is VERY vocal. And it highlights a problem in CoX that goes back at least as far as when I started playing I8, the general lack of content in the lower and middle ranges. Which hurts retention in the "content over power" segment of the playerbase... Thus leading to the ever growing prominence of players at the opposite end of the spectrum. It's a positive feedback loop.
  16. So much this... But I will say, it's not unique to CoX. I saw the same behavior pattern in UO back in 2001/02.
  17. IMHO, his fully twinked out build was still what I would consider high end despite being only middling in level.

  19. Because I was curious and wondered the name was a reference to the anime Akagami no Shirayukihime (Snow White with the Red Hair). Should have caught she was a tank though, in the anime Shirayuki is an herbalist - a healer.

  21. Funniest PvP ever... I don't PvP, but I was running a mish in a PvP zone with my 40 ish Earth/Rad troller. Little lame dude runs up and starts attacking Stoney, so I promptly start holding him and let Stoney put the beatdown on him. Little lame dude croaks, so I go back to my business... When suddenly he pops back up and starts attacking Stoney again. (Lather, rinse repeat.) He pops up a third time and (you guessed it)... it happens again. Little lame dude started whining in broadcast about how I was cheating because there was no way a troller could beat a scrapper. About then I'd killed however many of whatever and zoned out...
  22. Haven't read through the whole thread... But definitely a smaller footprint inspiration collector. The current one is way too big for what it does and is screwing with my base design.
  23. That's kinda the OP's point... These aren't folks exercising even basic strategy - it's almost always simply a graceless zerg rush. In the week and a half I've been back, I've seen exactly two team wipes (one Malta, one Carnie). Tactical game play is almost non existent, even at +4x8. That's not the CoX I used to play. The game has changed, and I'm not convinced it's for the better.
  24. They're trialing converting the Mothership raid into an instanced trail - taking away the problem of RWZ population caps entirely.
