You have to stop typing in all caps, sunshine. Every time I see the thread title, I think it says "REST AND HAM" and wonder what you've been smoking.

I hope people realize that Ambient Occlusion is bad
Luminara replied to temnix's topic in General Discussion
Limit what someone can say in one post, they'll make more posts, or post .jpgs of what they want to say with as many words as they feel they need to say it. Limit how many posts someone can make, they'll make more accounts. Limit how many accounts someone can have by IP or e-mail address, they'll find ways to get different IPs or make new e-mail addresses. When someone is determined to speak, they'll find a way to be heard. And the more restrictions imposed, the more people will fight, even if they wouldn't otherwise, even if they don't feel that it affects them at all. Such a limitation would also encourage more direct, less polite responses which would lead to more strife, less open discussion and a loss of the friendly, relaxed attitude which has always been at the heart of the Co* forums. Rather than encouraging the poster to write a detailed reply, a limitation of this nature would promote shorter, more aggressive tones. A reply such as, "Over my dead fucking body, you fascist piece of shit", for example, rather than the paragraph above, would fit within a theoretical character limit and express the same sentiment, but it wouldn't be friendly, or informative. It would not result in discussion or spark thoughtful discourse, it would only incite conflict. As I've said many times in the past, this isn't a road we want to travel. It's one way, and the destination is a desolate, ruined place where nothing grows and no-one wants to be. -

That's not ambient occlusion. It's depth of field (blur) and bloom (lighting). Ambient occlusion adjusts the lighting in shaded areas, like corners and alcoves, to make shadows look more natural. -
Can't chew on your victim's organs if you don't have teeth. FOR THE LONG PORK!

what is more powerful/fun grav/nrg or nrg/grav?
Luminara replied to Snarky's topic in General Discussion
Okay. @Snarky, you're one of my favorite people on the forums, because you have a sense of humor. You're easy-going, not full of yourself and you never seem to have your panties in a wad over meaningless shit. I've always gotten the impression that I could team with you and play the way I do, knowing that a lot of my antics and general play style would irritate you, but you'd laugh about it instead of going into a tizzy. Also, proofread, bitch. -
Domination has a 1.32s animation time. Powers don't begin recharging until the animation time has elapsed. At 123.75% global +Recharge, the recharge time for Domination is 89.39s. 89.39 + 1.32 = 90.71. It's always worked that way. ~126% (the lowest theoretical amount is 125.75%, but it's impossible to achieve that, as there are no combinations of set IOs and/or buffs which give that total. 126.25% is as close as you can get) has been the minimum global +Recharge for perma-Domination since Issue 5. It's never been numerically possible to achieve perma-Domination with less than that, so you had some other source of +Recharge active on those two dominators, @Outrider_01. Empowerment station +Recharge (20%), Offensive Amplifier (15%), teammates buffing you, something.

That would explain why they're on every street corner.

I'm glad no-one's mentioned the snack bar and open keg in the center of the portal yet. Wouldn't want that secret to slip out. Ah, damnit. Now I'll never be able to get to chocolate waterfall.

You're a doodyhead. Also, your mom. -
My nomination goes to the Way Better Than @Jimmy cat who hangs out with my Dark/Martial dominator. He's the real player, I'm just his wing-person. Yeah, I have to do all of the hard work, but it's worth it for the opportunity to spend time with him. Thanks, little buddy, for allowing me to be your pal. Love ya.

Is there any reason that enhancement combining can fail?
Luminara replied to Monos King's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
They're bucketed by level and direct match (Acc/Mez, for example, is just seen as Acc/Mez by the AH, even though there are five different specials which boost Acc/Mez). If you look at the Endoplasm HO at level 48, for example, you'll note that the number listed, the number of bids and the recent sale prices are all identical matches with Graviton, D-Sync Binding, Synthetic Endoplasm and Calcite of the same level, but examining different levels of Acc/Mez specials shows different numbers listed, bids and sale prices. -
I don't have to report bugs twice, to support and here
Luminara replied to temnix's topic in Bug Reports
The support ticket window only accepts 512 of those letters. The chat window is limited to 255. You can't deliver a detailed, informative bug report that pre-emptively answers all possible questions and gives all of the necessary information about your computer, your character, the powers you had active, the location, the circumstances and other things with 767 alphanumeric characters. If you want a bug to be addressed, being prepared to answer questions and give more information is the right way to approach it. Being obstructive, refusing to post a bug report, refusing to provide details, refusing to answer questions, isn't helpful, and if that's to be your approach to reporting bugs, you probably shouldn't bother to report them at all. @GM_GooglyMoogly, this thread is pointless. Lock it. -

The GMs don't have the information you have and can't answer the question that you can answer, and it's a lot easier to get that information and answer those questions here than in the chat window. Obvi. -
RWZ Base rework has done more harm than good...
Luminara replied to Shin Magmus's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Last night was the first time I've been there since it was redesigned. Spent a few minutes exploring and accidentally exited to the surface twice (different exit points, not the same one), so it doesn't seem like it's especially difficult to find a way out. -
Close the base storage window and move away from it before using a catalyst. The missing catalyst will reappear after you zone.

Radiation Emission: Quality of Life Adjustments Requested!
Luminara replied to Hateborne's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Those toggles draw aggro to the caster, so putting them on teammates would be the same result as having them on a fleeing enemy - a whole lot of pissed-off jerks attacking you instead of the debuff anchor. Since you can't shoot your teammates, or Immobilize teammates, or Hold teammates, to prevent them from running into spawns and sending a lot of aggro your way, the net result would be more debt collection and having to turn the toggles off and back on more frequently. Can't see any positive benefits to that. -
NAKED on the throne. I'm on a roll this week!

Various members of the HC team have stated that everything is discussed amongst the team. They also have an outline, a plan, for progressing. They don't talk about it much, but it's been referenced a few times (the tease for Issue 28 here, for example (near the bottom of the post)). It's evident if you look back over the updates over the years, and note the occasional mentions of things they'll be working on in the future (example: it's implied here that dominators are under the microscope). This tells us that they're not simply a group of independent people making unilateral decisions to do this or that and asking for permission to add what they've done to the game, but instead, they're working from a roadmap that allows them to tackle what they feel like working on, as long as it fits within that roadmap. From the explanations given over the years, it appears to be an informal arrangement with each contributing independently within his/her area of expertise, but consensus has to be achieved before something can be changed/added/removed. They each have autonomy to work on what they want to work on, within the framework of the Grand Plan, but they channel that autonomy into a group effort.
