I thought that too, I made and slotted a Psi/Electric Brute who should have been at the flight cap in Hover, however, there was a penalty applied that capped my hover speed somewhere in the 30s

Very cool, though Hover has a speed cap that I don't see mentioned here. I tried out a build that should have had me hovering at the Fly speed cap, but alas, no joy, I was slower than my (modified)Sprint speed still.

I am aware, note what I said... whatever changes come to pass. I did not at all even hint at the second part of what you said, so not sure what that is about. My concern is that in the attempts to make the set more "boomy", they might continue to tweak things until the power is less viable as a recovery tool in their attempts at give and take rebalancing. My hopes are that is recognized and avoided. -

I just hope that in whatever changes come to pass, this doesn't end up screwing the endurance recovery aspect of the power, as I rely on that as part of my SD/DM tanker's strategy. I know currently it is half the recharge time for half the endurance per target, which should net the same performance assuming you are using it more often and thus in bigger groups, but I know these things tend to get tweaked and morph over time during these testing and "rebalance" phases, and I don't want to lose a key resource management component go away in favor of a variable nuke. -
I ended up going with Psi/Electric. The damage is not overwhelming, but it is fast... against some enemies it is better, some it is worse, especially at the endgame levels. I already have a DM/SR scrapper, DM/Bio scrapper and a SD/DM tanker, so I am definitely looking forward to the changes.

I will piggy back on this post as well: Last night in the span of 5 minutes, to CTDs both while using Catalysts to attune IOs... not certain if both were the 6th in a power or not, but one definitely was. -
I have a Staff scrapper... and... I hate the animations too much to play it with any regularity. Same problem with MA and KM... the animations just kill it for me. Claws is one I thought would work really well, just wasn't sure if it has the burst needed for some higher end stuff.

Hello again Tanker folks! After leveling up a few Tankers these past months, Invuln/SS, SD/DM, WP/Elec... I recently made a DM/Bio scrapper, and I have just been dumbfounded by the survivability... which made me think, wouldn't this be amazing to try out as a Tanker primary?! So of course, now I must surrender to my altitis and make it happen. Only problem is I am having trouble deciding on what to pair it with. I try not to duplicate combos if I can help it, or use the same set too often... so that said, these are some of the sets I am considering, and I was wondering what folks thought would be the most effective/fun combo: Claws Savage Melee Stone Melee are my primary considerations. Super Strength Titan Weapons Battle Axe War Mace are also possibilities, though not favorites. Any suggestions on which or why would be much appreciated!

Wow, this kinda got necroed! I had done a Mace/Electric, but it just didn't grab me and it has languished at level 30-is. I ended up making a Psi/Electric and I have enjoyed it more, though I don't play it as much as my main.

This is what I use on my farmer... it was relatively inexpensive ( I self leveled through farms and didn't have a huge amount to spend). I added the Winter set to Ball Lightning later to push me to the soft cap in fire defense. Prior to that I had to either pop the occasional purple or use my heal a lot more often. I generally come up with a theme or look, find powers that fit the concept in my noggin, and then RP the character as having the abilities (and limitations) that the character has within the framework of the game, with any essential fluff put in to help smooth things out or tie things together. I do my best though, to avoid the, "well, my backstory says I am on par with [insert wildly overpowered comic hero/villain here]", type of RP, when my character clearly is not. I actually tend to use in game capabilities to help me flesh out my RP in terms of checks and balances... I just soloed a tough AV? Awesome, my character can consider themselves in that power strata... just got worked over by a bunch of Hellions? Well, there are entire comic series centered around street level heroes as well. I try to keep my characters RP as grounded in the existing framework of the gameworld, and thus mechanics, as that gives me baked in limitations... and limitations make for more interesting characters in general... without having to come up with some contrived, unobtanium type weakness. So to me, they go hand in hand, with one as the skeleton and the other the flesh. As for claims of mind reading immunity or the like, well, there are status protection powers, and defense and damage resist powers and set bonuses in the game, that I figure most characters would have at least a passing amount of protection to prevent the casual perusal of thoughts.

Thanks. I am kinda leaning scrapper (which is why I asked here first) but I am really not sure how much of a survivability difference it makes in this case, as I haven't used the set beyond level 6 or so, which is clearly not a great sample size.

Heya folks! Like the topic says, I am trying to decide on which would be a better direction to go for my Fire/Bio concept... would I be better off with the added survivability potential of the brute, or the greater damage potential of the scrapper? I haven't used bio armor as yet, so I'm not sure which is the best way to go. Thanks in advance for any input. 🙂

I am also working on making a build for my Spine/Fire brute to do things other than farm. I know she will not likely be a tank so much as a DPSer, but she will be viable darn it! When I settle on something I am happy with I will post it.

Heya all, trying to decide what to do for my next brute. I will be using Electric Armor for the defense set, and am kinda torn as to what to use as the primary between the following options: Psi... I haven't used it yet but hear good things. Rad... same with Psi, not sure how well it does against AVs. Fire... always fun and some AOE potential. Ice Ice maybe? Street Justice is also on the table as a slightly less flashy option. Which would synergize best with /Elec, and would be the most overall efficient for high end content, solo and group? Thanks for any help!
