I would try to build well above the cap by up to 10 points or so on any Tanker who doesn't have DDR. Enough so that first defense debuff isn't an immediate threat to initiate a cascade failure. Gives you a breath or two to counter the effects of the debuff. Means they need to get lucky not once but twice as well to initiate that cascade failure (the difference between 1 in 20 and 1 in 400). This is true for pretty much any AT reaching the softcap but for some reason 😜 it's harder for a Tanker to shed that aggro if they don't want it and that pack of angry debuffers follow them everywhere.

Before I start spending massive inf on purples...

Okay that is weirdness. I'm guessing then they don't show up wherever you did place them. May want to (if you haven't already) post something in the Mids forum. -

As for the export issue ... have you placed the level 50 slots? I assume so or at least you thought and say so but the build doesn't display any lvl 50 slot choices (or is this what you're talking about?) I see a 49, as in a single 49 which would be correct but it shows it as a slot added to Phys Perf which is impossible. -
Emp/Energy build, looking for suggestions and/or build

And woops guess a break isn't bad but ... Hopefully the wall of text isn't too much. Have fun. Edit: in case wherever your reading this doesn't show it the "giant wall of text" is embedded within you post in orange text. -

Heh, never knew about the level requirement. Now where did that thread go about learning stuff you didn't know even when you've been playing forever. -
Emp/Energy build, looking for suggestions and/or build
Doomguide2005 replied to Nayland1971's topic in Defender
I can't see or use Mids beyond what pops up on this phone (which really sucks for someone who likes building) 1) Why not the full set of Preventative Medicine for the 8.75% recharge and Absorb Proc? 2) Why Devastation vs Decimation? 3) Why stopping at 4 Positron's rather than 5 Yes I'm looking at the recharge bonus for these sets. You got the base for a lot of recharge (or so it appears but I can't see your totals in Mids to see if you're shooting for something else). Mez resistance? 4) I'm sure someone will mention it but no Force Feedback procs? I haven't had a chance to try these in an Empath build but I do wonder if they will effectively reduce recharge significantly in an already high recharge build. 5) I personally wouldn't bother with the single recharge in either Resurrect or Clear Mind and typically go with Endred and Range respectively. Teams won't wait around for a second rez after multiple defeats at the same time high recharge means it will recharge if those deaths are in 'separate' encounters. Likewise CM recharges so fast already you aren't effectively making it any faster on a high recharge build. But both of these are really pretty nit picky thoughts. Probably really doesn't matter what's slotted. 6) Got several powers where you could fairly readily grab slots if you wished to repurpose them ==> AB, Tactics and Regen Aura can all be very effective on 2 or 3 slots in today's game. 7) As a general rule I like to keep my Auras on similar cooldowns. That way if one is recharged they both are. Position myself and fire them off one after the other. No trying to keep track of both. 8). I Can't say I'd never need it/use it but Dark Consumption should be pretty unnecessary if your RA is on a short cooldown. Usually rather than burning a power pick I'll grab Geas of the Kind Ones (or use blue inspires). But I can't see your consumption and recovery either. 9) Slow/recharge debuff resistance. I might be missing it but ideally I'd want some in the build. Having powers turn into dots is not fun. -
This is where I get a little lost on precisely what certain things in CoD mean. What exactly does "Boosts are copied to entity" mean? I take that in general to mean global buffs and global attribute buffs (in this case 32% global accuracy) on the caster are also used by the "entity" in this case the trip mine 'pet'. Equally clearly either that is incorrect or some misunderstanding is occurring somewhere on exactly what if anything is getting applied and to what. A final hit chance of 97.64 is a miss, but how is it generating a final hit chance of 75.32 as the goal? And it actually appears worse than 16% less accuracy with Fireball as the "entity" itself has an accuracy of 1.2 (i.e. 120%) not 1.0. Edit: @PainXwhat level foes was this trip mine attacking?

Good point. Total brain lapse there. -
It looks like it's not a pseudo pet so it'll break Hide/Hidden? Yes I still want to make a Stalker who can do a kill all while never losing Hidden status. 😜

The reality of CoX is by high level we have the ability to be extremely independent. We hit what we aim at. We can attack nearly endlessly. Our defenses can be capped. In short we don't really need a teammate for support for 99.99% of the time, they are just self working additional dps and debuffs. But this is a static team (duo). You know exactly (or will know) what your partner can elect to do or not do. As a very simple example Dark Armor has no knock protection. Now this isn't really an issue it's easily solved by adding kb prot IOs but if you're a Kinetics you have access to Increased Density and it buffs Knockback Protection (among other things). They could totally ignore getting kb protection and never miss it. The point is you can not only cover weaknesses but between you decide how those weaknesses get covered between yours and his powers and IOs. Any pairing can work, work well even, but to really leverage the fact you are a duo you need to build working closely with each other to go from friends teaming to a duo wrecking ball.

@Outrider_01Thanks, owing to computer issues I can't use Mids and haven't been able to for a while. Couldn't recall if settings could be made to account for such things or not (been a couple years at this point😪).

I can't use Mids, no computer only internet is this phone so that might lead to some odd questions etc.. If Infrigidate can hit reliably, then you shouldn't need Accuracy in Benumb. Granted it's more important to hit with Benumb but that's why you use Aim, Sleet, Infrigidate then use Benumb. Unless of course the final hit chance is well shy of 95% for both. It's always floating in the back of my mind but both Glacial and Ice Shield accept both defense and damage resist IOs (as does Arctic Fog). There's a lot a unique and special IOs that can be placed there. Gaussian's is a nice +defense. It's also 6 slots to get there. I tend to agree with moving the proc to Aim and slotting Tactics differently. Too many slots for the benefit but hard for me to tell how easy it is to make up elsewhere. Heat Loss - you could squeeze a slot out by 2 slotting HL with 2 +5 boosted recharge IOs. Life calls back later.

What's the advantage of Hami-O's?
Doomguide2005 replied to Nayland1971's topic in General Discussion
As mentioned above but also in the case of some HO's ask yourself: "When was the last time you saw a set IO enhancing Defense, To Hit and Recharge?" Several of the higher demand are similar boosting multiple attributes that aren't found together on IOs. -
Pain Domination Damage Buffs - Corr vs. Def?
Doomguide2005 replied to Redletter's topic in Archetypes
And my answer is "Hey look 1000 slots! Wonder what I could build" Then there's the whole solo issue. Pain and Sonic Assault both want friends. Ideally many friends to really benefit from them. And yes World of Pain effects you as well as up to 255 ally's. That's probably one very big reason why 1) solo isn't automatically an arrgggh compared to solo Empathy ... stuff often benefits you 2) it has debuffs which again Empathy totally lacks in its primary. So in general solo isn't nearly as painful as it is for Empathy. -
Name one thing you dislike about playing Masterminds
Doomguide2005 replied to Zewks's topic in Mastermind
Same here. Maybe i need a "Cat Lord". Then at least I'd be literally herding cats. 🐈 Will say a few of the more memorable teams I've been on we're predominantly MM. First case I joined a team in the low 40's. My Corruptor and 6 Robot MMs. Thank God I was a range AT and for tab target. Second case was a special teaming project in RO. Caltrops, lots of caltrops. Generated by my lone Stalker and up to 7 MM of the Ninja variety. Now I don't recall who, what or how but there were ridiculous swaths of caltrops getting laid between us all. Things, tough things were getting decimated by huge patches of caltrops. Third was a craziness with trying to destroy the server with "let's see what happens if we drop a whole lot of Gang Wars simultaneously" ... lag, lots of lag. Made a mockery of the lag and rendering experienced in a Mothership or a Hami Raid. -
Agree with @Zepp always be careful of what's toggled on in Mids and under what conditions the values are applying. Stealth and the various Concealment powers are a common 'trip you up' spot as their value in and out of combat can be significantly different. Force Feedback proc is another that commonly trips folks up. I've gotten snagged by Afterburner making me think my defenses while attacking were a much better than they would have been. Generally I try to turn off anything that won't apply at all times under all circumstances. Then turn things on and off to see how that effects my numbers.

@nebberlooking at your end drain attack --> Aim+PBU+Thunderous Blast Shouldn't Clarion Radial Epiphany boost the end drain as well? Unless Incarnates are off the table. Edit: Appears it might also boost slow movement effects of Running Speed and Fly Speed (drop his Fly spd while your slows further reduce his assuming he gets off the ground). -
Street Justice and Willpower or Super Reflexes?
Doomguide2005 replied to 00Troy00's topic in Scrapper
^ This Willpower is a very smooth ride to 50 and beyond. SR I think is overall stronger at its peek but I'm definitely biased as well and in most content you won't be able to tell. Heavy debuffers can be very demanding on a WP, SR won't have to worry. You can't debuff what you can't hit. -
Truth ... You're also ahead of the sound/boom.

Is there such a thing as societal norms in CoH?
Doomguide2005 replied to Ukase's topic in General Discussion
If I join a PuG I'm mentally prepared for anything from smooth sailing to trainwreck in slo-mo. If I need a team for whatever reason but not in the mood to handle a crazy train wreck I'll try my friends list first then decide how important it is right now. Generally try this first regardless most times. If not interested in a PuG experience then there's about a gazillion options ranging from stocking IOs, playing the market, working on a solo project, creating a build etc.. till my mood or needs change. I like to have expectations stated up front but I also realize that while the star has the most control over a team they can only control so much so if its going sideways well I try to embrace the chaos and go with it. I'm going to have fun either way.
