I'm sure you've done it before but can I recommend doing Piecemeal's arcs if you want that feeling? I did them a couple of nights ago with a team of lvl 5-26s (with a couple of exempers) and the mission in the rave room can go really, really badly if people aren't paying attention. We only won cos we had two storm toons without IOs so the KB really helped with the bombs. We had a few faceplants too - nostalgic in its own way ❤️

You’re right about the corr. It’ll be VERY team based. Procs, debuffs and heals. But not bad I think. The blaster is quite interesting I think… Use those PaPs, get a costume and RP it as a clockwork made from main earth and alt earth scraps.

I teamed with a storm/psi defender over the weekend and really rated it. Strong pairing. She had some IOs in the mid-20s but really wasn't too jacked. Really strong toon/ player.

Can I recommend Water/Kin? I've got one and it is very fun. It offers some very mild mitigation, the steam power can be proc'd nicely, and scourge is good in whirlpool. I've got one to 50 and its a really (wet) blast. Tidal is a bit naff but fine really.

For the first time in a while I got excited about a toon and - I know it’s early - cracked this one open and it’s now level 26. Only used boosters until 17, just lots of arcs, not TFs, really enjoying it. Say hello if you see Neutrino Nights! So I rolled again: Got a Dark/Kin controller. I’ve not used dark control before. EDIT: I’ve made the controller and absolutely love it. So much more than the corruptor. Valerie Void is now level 29, no boosters, just arcs 🙂 lovely work @Troo - thanks to you I’ve found a new toy.

I tried this pairing as a tank and it’s quite fun but the endurance stressed me out. Solid though, v nice.

Ah, not a bad one this time around… Rad/Dark corruptor. Sets I’ve used but not together. Could be much worse.

That universal debuff set idea is a really nice idea.

An easier way to test if there’s an interaction between dimension shift and corpse powers would probably be with a Grav/DA controller. I appreciate there are less WSs teleporting around than Grav trollers.

I have the same thing with the Rogue guy and have had “the ban hammer” stuck in my clues. Oddly, it also means I can’t have more than 3 missions on my rogue which is very irritating. Kinda wish doing the arc through Ouro cleared it out.

Size changing armour set for melee. Ant-Man/ Giant-Man vibe. Difference bonuses depending on size. Small: higher def, adds lethal damage, rech bonus, very reduced HP, increased movement speed, reduced res, higher recovery, stealth, less KB resistance. Big: higher res, adds smashing damage, lower rech, high HP, slower speed, increased acc, +taunt, higher regen, mez prot.

I’ve been playing my WS more and noticed some weird/ annoying interactions between the corpse powers and dimension shift (Grav control) after doing an ITF with a troller. The circle and the summon do not work on the corpses if you’re dimension shifted, because the shift stops hitting enemies after their death. Which I know seems obvious, however it is still a little annoying. Wondered if there was a way to keep them shifted after death for 5 secs or so? Shadow slip seemed to be inconsistent. Sometimes when I was shifted it worked to tp mobs outside of the bubble to me, but then in the bubble they’d be unaffected. Sometimes it wouldn’t hit mobs inside or outside of the dimension shift at all. Also very willing to accept I might just have it wrong and deal with it cos people rarely use that power.

Can I recommend "all kin Yins" (this includes the buff set, kin melee, and energy aura) for those who like things moving quicker than their brains can process, limitless end, and really risky teaming as everyone gets cocky until one thing slips through and everyone falls. It is also a really great way to boost up the damage of anyone using Kinetic Melee.

Didn't know they had a wiki! Great to be able to see all their changes. It is, probably, the only other server I'd be tempted to try (would need to work out doing it on my Mac). Mostly because I love the look of the Arm Wings.

I tried one of these on live - it was my first villain but I just couldn’t work it right - so I weirdly love whenever I see one working out. Ice sword circle has such a nice SFX. Might try it out now I’m a decade older and have a lot more patience!

When I just googled "City of heroes" on a clear browser (Chrome, not safari) and the third result for me was the Reddit for CoH, behind the Wiki and the OG website. If a returning player happens to feel nostalgic and searches for it they are likely to find that high up. The first "people also ask" is "is it still playable", and right at the bottom there is a "city of heroes homecoming". So at least we're winning the autocomplete! That's a very fair shout 🙂 Might do it tbh. I got chatting with a comic artist on Instagram who decided to come and try it out. As an aside, I often do a Twitter search and reply to people saying they miss the game and link them to the Forums. Quite often it is a positive response. I did reply to them with some tips, asked more about the problem, we talked in the comments and I said to message me on here if they wanted anymore help. They haven't, which is their prerogative. I'm not trying to argue man, we all want the best for the player base. It wasn't an attack.

The thing is: I agree that the official way HC communicate should be through the platforms and avenues they've set up. It is a much better place to put it all. I guess I just don't think we should poopoo those other avenues or the people using them. I don't want the team to spend what time they have thinking about how they formulate their reddit release notes, but can't see any issues with anyone putting the link in a place that has higher traffic (this is, of course, depending on if that place allows that link there).

it isn’t about “can’t find or be bothered” it’s about finding people where they normally are and converting them into regular users. It’s using social to do advertising or drive users to your platform and not the third party one, which used to be part of my IRL job. People aren’t on your website, go to where they are, lure them to you = profit. I didn’t find out about HC from the forums, I found out about it from Reddit. Now I am both an active player and, more recently, an active forum user. I wonder if there’s also something about perceived approachability on here. Could some of us look at how we interact and wonder “is my attitude helping to foster conversation and a welcoming environment”. I saw someone on the CoH FB saying “why can’t I post pictures on the HC forum? Everyone else seems to.” I probably won’t ever know why they didn’t post that question on these forums, I hope it wasn’t because they didn’t feel comfortable.

I first started on the EATs from the PB guide, loved it, and it’s my main. When the shadow slip changes came in… well my two mains are my kheldians now. PB feels like the helpful, considered toon, I use to exemp on mission teams and ouro’ing weird/new/complicated arcs (Piecemeal’s for example). I can comfortably tank, or damage, fill in those gaps, as I don’t need to worry about my own health. I’ll use veng to help the team. KD is there to mitigate damage against the team. My WS now is death. A purple brute. An alien dominator. Ill TP a teammates corpse if they die, but cos I want the veng near me so I get it. I think that “mindset” of all forms at once actually should be there for both. They’re self sufficient, quick, bright.
