Yes, at the start. But it takes a lot to build the habit to return. People go to other platforms more regularly for other things in their life and therefore could indirectly pick up the info about the game. I completely think it is worth spreading the news elsewhere if we would like new or returning players.

Sort of related: for those who use Facebook there is a fairly large group where people quite often post “how are you playing this now?!”. It’s fair and people share builds and screenshots, it’s supportive and friendly. You might say “why not just come to the forums?”, well there are a fair few people who use FB significantly more regularly!

I would say: everyone on the CoH Reddit from Rebirth that I’ve talked with has always been very fair, kind and chatty. But then I haven’t always talked with others. I think most of the animosity feels like it’s died down a little? There’s are obviously those who are dramatic and reactive, but it’s up to those calmer people to reply with facts etc (I.E. perceptions of things that feel like nerfs). There are always gonna be d*ckheads. Hell, even the Pokémon subreddit is toxic as anything, just up to you who you talk with!

The first few fights in most teams (but all PuGs) are always just “let’s establish who is the most capable of taking the alpha”. I play a lot of pugs on my exemp’d kheldians, there are rarely levelling tanks who have the same survivability, so I try and take the hit at roughly the same time. If there’s no tank/kheldian then I want a dominator or controller. I know people love them - and it’s probably a similar thought process to Kheldians - but there are more bad MMs than good. I’m sorry but I am always going to want a corr or defender over an MM. I think for the standard player - without the binds etc - there’s just a bit too much going on. I think it’s the ATs fault not the player. If a team has at least 1 SoA I know we’re gonna be fine.

I suspect it might be “user error” @Falsey. I’m going to have a look again this weekend.

This one I’m not sure about. There is a video knowing around of getting it to work but my one is currently struggling a lot with it. I can select powers, it’s very slow, but as soon as I try and slot stuff it just crashes.

Please @Snarky, don't kick the hornets nest. At least run a distraction afterwards by getting some spam going so we can unite on something else.

I teamed with someone earlier who has 300 50s and let me tell you I am SHOOK. I probably have six 50s. I tend go through long-spells in toons. But try and focus on different content. So maybe two weeks doing redside only, then I’ll do two weeks doing blue missions, then I’ll do a spell of just TFs/SFs. I might swap over to the odd other alt - depending on what @MoonSheep’s most recent alt needs (usually my kin) 😉 - for other stuff and then I think to myself “I should play this more…” I really, really overplayed my dom. Or maybe I just overplayed plant. When I came to HC I remade my plant/kin, then a plant/psi dom which I then went badge happy on. I just know everything is easy on her. And it means if I try and make a new dom I just compare to plant! I’ve been maining my PB for months now. It’s pretty much everything I could want. I mostly exemp. But in steam roll content - kill all ITFs - I’ll use the WS. Cos Shadow Slip is amazing.

I've pug'd with Snarky a couple of times now. As a forum user I like the dance of death... "Am I going to end up in a post?" - adds a bit of spice 😉 We did a VERY bad respect trial which I 100% expected to see on here. PUGS are fun. You roll with the punches. The quit button is there for a reason though. I think its ok to leave as long as you explain the situation to the leader, blind quitting I'm a little less forgiving of. A kill all +0 Manti and a +1 are gonna be different enough times where I could see myself feeling like my nose was being put out of joint (although I don't know if I'd quit). It sounds like maybe there was a miscommunication on all fronts. What I would say is: let's not get too aggy with each other. Do it in the Arena.

After some kerfuffle my end (for some reason my ISP doesn't allow wine to open but once installed is fine) it runs really smoothly. You'll be fine.

This is exactly why I love the carnage of Excel. There is two particular accounts, I won't name them but I've never seen them on the forums, who to their credit do a lot of team running and forming. But they INSIST on taking the alpha regardless of their sets/AT/level. Feel free to take the alpha on your empathy defender my friend, I get a veng boost.

Welcome @Repodude. The population on red really isn't as high as blue - by any stretch. But you know what? If you build it, they will come. 90% of the time if I run a redside mission team/SF it'll fill up. Maybe a little slower than blue, yes, but people will come. Whenever I run one I say "Thanks for coming to redside everyone! I know its a pain." and maybe 1/3 of the team will say "I prefer it here!". Don't be disheartened. If I see you doing redside stuff this weekend I'll pop over, Arachnos needs a hand 🙂

I recently teamed with a fire/SS tank and was very impressed with how they played it. Clearly a lot of love and time went into their build. I know fire *can* be solid, just need to invest some time in it. Especially with the new buffs!

I've been thinking about doing a fire/fire tank. Any pointers? Combustion any good now?

If you would like to entice more people over, this also gives an optional astral for incarnates instead of merits. The arcs tend to be shorter - five to ten missions - and the rewards are lower. But it doesn't feel like such a slog. I suspect @Snarky might know which ones field more.

@Redletter have you tried PB’s since the power order changes? Light form at 32 helps a bit. I’d persevere if you can. I felt EXACTLY the same on live about PBs and now mine is my main. IOs and binds really make the difference.

Time. whenever I team with a time toon they usually blow me away. When I play it? It’s like I’m trying to play pool with spaghetti. I run out of end, I do no damage, I die, it’s quite slow… I don’t understand it! But my god do I keep making builds that look good on paper in mids.

This is true, and fair. Last night we teamed with someone who didn't know about the badge to get to Cim. Took a second for my brain to process that we needed to explain it to them. We're a bit used to muscle memory. Someone on Excel used to run "exploration badge and Cim entry mission" tours which was good. Fair - and I guess there is a "help me" thing when you make a new toon. I guess I imagine some people feel embarrassed to ask for help. Probably every 3 months I have to ask "which thing makes it a superior ATO again?" and I always feel like a melon, and I've been here for a while.
