Mids' Reborn Unofficial (MRBU)
darkgob replied to Felis Noctu's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
Make sure the entire RebornTeam folder is deleted before doing the new install. After I uninstalled the previous version of Mids that folder was still there with a couple folders and files (an icon for the Force of Will set, for some reason). I just uninstalled 2.7.2 and ran the Mids installer that I downloaded last August (MRB_Setup.exe, versus the MRB_Setup.msi that I downloaded today), but when I launch Mids it shows that it's the 2.7.2 version instead of whatever I had before was (2.6.x IIRC). Unfortunately I don't think I have any screenshots from before I installed the new version (will dig around though, who knows), and now it seems impossible to roll back. EDIT: Okay, this will clear up part of the confusion, I was misremembering partly -- but the colors HAVE changed. Found this in the HC Discord posted October of last year: This is what I'm used to seeing -- selected powers being colored as green. Although this screenshot doesn't show it, I recall non-available powers being some darker color instead of the (off?) white that is used now.- 293 replies

Mids' Reborn Unofficial (MRBU)
darkgob replied to Felis Noctu's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
It looks like a change was made to the color of selected powers. Previously a selected power was yellow and a non-selected power was blue -- these colors have now been swapped. Can this be changed back? It's difficult to look at since I'm used to the opposite.- 293 replies

Also, there's no new update as far as I know. Are you sure you have the right server group?

In Operation Skyhook from Lt. Chalmers, your first task is to steal a holographic projector from Arachnos so you can infiltrate a Council base in the second mission; the power is granted as an automatic temporary power. But when you do this mission via Flashback with the No Temporary Powers challenge set, the temp power is disabled, robbing you of the disguise; this also affects the Nictus Gravitic Emanation click power and Nictus Absorption auto power given to you by Shelley Percy in the arc (but strangely, the Nictus Shadow Step power is not affected). I understand that the point of the challenge is that you can't rely on temporary powers, but if possible I don't think this should be applied to powers that are specifically granted to you in the mission itself, certainly not this one at least. EDIT: After stepping into the mission I realize the disguise power isn't meant to be stealth as the mission takes place in a Wyvern base -- the intention is actually to frame the Council and trick Wyvern into "counter" attacking them. I'm not deleting this though because I stand by my assertion, and also because this bug really just ruins the narrative of the mission for no reason.

The name of Infinite Corona (Excelsior) was reset
darkgob replied to czis's topic in General Discussion
Absolute overkill and completely ridiculous. Context matters. Ban the word "coronavirus", sure, but "corona"? Seriously? It's like using Ion Judgement to defeat a level 1 Hellion. Of course the GMs don't have time to just police it all themselves. That's why players can report offensive names, and that is the approach that should be used here instead of a blanket ban on a word that had zero offensive meaning before 2020. -
Praetoria's Son/Daughter is showing as a separate badge on the tracker when it should be the same badge as VIP/Destined One.

Steps to reproduce: Receive a team invite but do not accept or decline it. Just leave it open. Enter the costume creator. Click the Save button from the costume editor screen. The (actual) Save button when the filename is displayed will be greyed out. This also applies to saving power customizations. Backing out to accept or decline the invite will resolve the problem.

Set bonuses too. The only things you keep are global enhancement bonuses like Numina's Convalescence +Regen/+Recovery, but ONLY if the power it's slotted in is active. If you have it slotted in a power you took at level 40 and you're doing a level 29 Flashback, you won't get the bonus; if you have it in Health, then you're good. Likewise, if you have Blessing of the Zephyr: KB Protection in Fly, and you have "No Travel Powers" set, that won't be active either. Even if you have BotZ: KB Prot slotted in Hover, which technically is still active under that challenge (just doesn't grant any vertical movement), you still don't get the effect (LotG +Rech doesn't work either).

This is a brilliant recommendation for this level. Despite the warning on Paragonwiki about needing a team it's extremely quick to solo on low difficulty. Quick note: in the final mission, the two hostages are located at the side pillars in the boss room. They don't have any text on sighting and I found them quite tricky to spot on the first run. Twilight's Son does not work, at least it didn't for me last night. Was very upset since I had "no enhancements" on, making it extremely unpleasant to complete to put it mildly... I kind of vaguely recall from live, though, that the Ouroboros TFs didn't count even though they don't grant any badges.

When you face Belladonna Vetrano at the very end of this mission, a cutscene first plays giving you your choice. Disclaimer: This happened when I chose Loyalist becayse that leads you to fight her, I'm not sure if anything similar happens when you pick Resistance. When you choose Loyalist, you find that there are two of her, both with the unique rank of Assassin. One named "Belladonna Vetrano" seems to con as an Elite Boss (she was red at +1 my level), and this one fights normally as expected. The other one is named "Belladona" (exact spelling) and seems to con as a Minion (yellow at +1 my level), but cannot be attacked as an Invalid Target and does not attack you. This is presumably the model used for Belladonna in the cutscene that isn't being despawned afterwards for some reason.

Electrical Affinity "seizure" animations on allies
darkgob replied to Keen's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If you want a practical reason for changing the current animation that most people should be able to get behind, how about this: the current animation is confusing and makes no sense. The animation is the same as getting hit by some electric attacks. Every time I get hit with an Electric Affinity power I'm taking a second to think "wait what just hit me". The confusion is even greater if I'm actually running something where enemies have attacks that do exactly that (Synapse anyone? of course not, no one likes Synapse, but I digress). It's like if you were to take the head-holding animation or the sleep animation and use it on a buff/heal power. It doesn't make any sense at all, and would only serve to confuse the player and mislead them about what is actually happening to their character. I was against the name Shock Therapy because it seemed to make light of something pretty serious while using a term that nobody has used in decades, but also because it didn't fit into the game's existing naming scheme for powersets at all (this probably bothered me more than the name itself but that's mostly a reflection of my pedantry). I don't have the same stance on the animations -- I can understand why some people would be bothered by it, but like I said enemy attacks trigger the same animation on your character, so you'd have to replace the animation wholesale across the entire game, and I definitely don't support that. -
Hasten: Make it Inherent, or get rid of it?
darkgob replied to Abysmalyxia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
This. Sometimes I take it, sometimes I don't. Obviously if I'm looking for +Recharge on a build, then I'm definitely taking Hasten. If I have room for a power in a build and don't have anything else I really want to take, I'll probably just take Hasten. Otherwise I generally do not bend over backwards for it. You're attempting to draw a comparison with the Fitness pool that just does not hold. Stamina was critical for most characters in the early game due to a lack of enhancements to reduce enhancement costs, and in some cases because an endurance/recovery boosting set power simply won't be unlocked until a later level. Let's not kid ourselves -- Fitness was made inherent for one reason and one reason only, and it was Stamina. It was that important. Recharge, on the other hand, is not nearly as important. Is it nice? Of course it is. But does not having Hasten make leveling most powerset combinations an unbearable slog? Of course not. No. -
Look, I'm gonna be honest -- having all my chat tabs get spammed with costume contest announcements that I can't turn off is extremely obnoxious. Aside from being bombarded by walls of yellow text in all of my active tabs, it also causes all of my inactive tabs to show that they have new messages, even if the only new messages are from Admin. Now I have to click through each tab to reset that. The Admin channel is important in how it functions and I am not suggesting any changes be made to how the player receives its messages. Instead what I'm proposing is a new admin-only chat channel that is not mandatory (opt-out would be fine I guess, not ideal); this channel would be used to announce special events, while the current Admin channel would be strictly limited to critical game information that impacts the player's ability to, well, play. Stuff like "the server is going down soon", "oops we accidentally deleted all the floors, sorry we're fixing it", that sort of thing. Pretty please? 🙂

This is not strictly true. It's counted on the character list page, but not on the individual character's badge page.

What the title says -- my Rogue cannot use the Rogue Isles TUNNEL in First Ward or Night Ward, but she can use it in a redside zone like Cap au Diable. I actually used it to go from Cap to Night Ward, only to find I couldn't go back the same way! "Only villains may enter." The character has never been a Hero or even Vigilante -- she crossed over from Praetoria (as Resistance) to the Rogue Isles, then became a Rogue. Test cases (all non-Praetorian, testing in Night Ward) Rogue who started as Hero: Cannot use RI TUNNEL Rogue who started as Villain: Cannot use RI TUNNEL Villain who never changed alignment: Can use RI TUNNEL Vigilante who started as Hero: Can use Paragon TUNNEL Vigilante who started as Villain: Can use Paragon TUNNEL On a whim I decided to do one last test case: Vigilante who started as Villain using the TUNNEL portals in Dark Astoria. This character was able to use both portals. So the problem might be limited to First Ward and Night Ward -- the TUNNEL portals in those zones seem to treat all non-Villains as Heroes.

Her outfit still looks red to me. Colorblindness I guess. 🤷♂️

To clarify, this is apparently referring to this character: https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Goldie1-800.jpg But I don't see any difference at all:

Minor complaint -- not a fan of the name for the Shock Therapy set. If nothing else, it really breaks the naming convention of the elemental powersets -- should be "Electrical {Something}" at least. I also feel like it's a bit of a glib reference to something that is really rather serious. I just read the patch notes and don't have any time to brainstorm (pardon) at the moment so I don't actually have anything constructive to suggest in its place, just wanted to throw it out there.

Note the jagged border around the eyeball chest emblem. PA customization is set to Mirror, not Phantom Mirror, and I'm not running any stealth auras. How bad it is seems to vary:

I have a visual design issue with the badge checklist. This post kind of goes on a bit so I'll stick it under a spoiler tag. Just my $2.02 (value inflated due to the amount of opinions expressed), take it or leave it. Regardless I still really appreciate this tool.

Hm, and ParagonWiki confirms. I thought maybe the spreadsheet was wrong but it also has 8. I'm not sure why I thought it should be 7. Last night I was doing The Big Push to finish up these nonsense badges (and copied over my Invention progress from the spreeadsheet), and I think I got that badge after only crafting 7 level 10 Mez enhancements. It's entirely possible I crafted a level 10 Mez enhancement randomly forever ago and just never marked it down on the spreadsheet...? Never mind!

Craftsman badge has a typo in the description, says 5000 instead of 500. 😱 Blinding badge says it requires 8 crafting but only requires 7.
