  1. Or, maybe, after living in a city with marauding gangs and supervillains menacing every street corner, they really are batshit crazy. 😁
  2. Actually, it makes me think of those poor Freakshow with the giant sledgehammer and scythe arms and the description that says they have to be fed by other Freakshow. And then, when you start thinking about it, you realize it sucks to be a low-ranking member of that gang, because they probably have even worse jobs ... 😮
  3. I love TOS, TNG, and DS9 (I thought the concept was so anti-trek, at first. A static space station. No roaming ship, seeking out and exploring new worlds. Strangely, it quickly won me over with it's wonderful characters and storylines and mix of pathos and action. It's now my favorite of the treks). Voyager was a strange one for me. Overall, I didn't care for the storyline and series but I positively loved most of the characters. Hated Enterprise, at first (especially that abominable theme song) but then warmed to it later. I haven't seen Discovery, so I can't comment. I have seen the new klingons, which look positively idiotic to me. I'm unable to even think of them as klingon. Maybe that will change, if I actually watch the show. I haven't seen that new trek cartoon either. The concept sounds a bit ridiculous, to me, but I'll probably give it a chance some day. There's so much good television these days, though, who has time to watch it all?
  4. I'm doing contact missions right now. Brawling with Lost in Skyway. Suck lead, you alien freaks! 😆
  5. Crap. SG roster is showing most of you guys logged on today, but I must have slept in too late and missed you. 😛
  6. Maybe you should make a "Squincy" and "Loogey Bowser". Or, alternately, you can spoof the entire cast of MASH. 😁
  7. But how will your character wipe their butt with those things sticking out all the time? 😁
  8. It also occurs to me that, from an RP perspective, Combat Teleport is a good corollary to Jaunt, which is supposed to simulate your super fast character briefly accelerating to the speed of sound.
  9. I have them both on one character. I have combat teleport in a macro to bampf! me to my selected target. Jaunt is keybound to shift+button 1 for escapes and/or quickly getting vertical.
  10. I actually had to look up Battalion on the wiki, to get what you guys were joking about. I've been playing here for a year now, but there's still bits of lore that slip under my radar. 🤷‍♂️ So, the Rikti fought them 100 years ago, huh? Given that all of my high-lvl toons can grind the most powerful Rikti into dust, it's hard to imagine how they might pose a credible threat. Maybe they have the ability to adapt and evolve in a (relatively) short time, if they aren't wiped out, kind of like the Borg on Star Trek? 🤔
  11. All great suggestions. Weirdly, my favorite knockback power is actually a knockUP power: Crushing Uppercut. Sometimes I'll take a high lvl toon with this and go into Atlas Park and punch random goons- just so I can watch them rocket into the sky and go supraorbital. 😆 Glad you found a team that is knockback positive. It's a really fun aspect of CoH that perfectly emulates the genre.
  12. I haven't logged on in a day or so, but am lookin forward to getting a larger group of us together. The various roles will be much more meaningful and useful in this play style, I think. Having a tank to draw aggro, control to lock down mobs, and defenders to buff and heal will actually be highly valued- as will caution and teamwork. At least, I hope so! It's the kind of team play I've been looking for. I've hit lvl 19, but I turned off experience yesterday b/c I don't want to get too far ahead of everyone else. I feel it'll be more enjoyable to maintain a rough level parity with everyone, exemplar/sidekicking notwithstanding. Also, welcome @gourdhead and @Knock! Looking forward to playing with you both!
  13. Now that I've had a taste, it's hard to live without it- even on characters where it doesn't fit for conceptually (and I prioritize theme when building a character). I can live with out it on ranged toons/controllers, etc. but for melee toons, it's as much a QoL change as a cool power addition. Absolutely one of my favorite powers now. It really boggled me how people were complaining about the changes, but I see relatively few complaints any more, so I think even most of the skeptics have been won over after trying it. 😁
  14. Ah, now that is interesting! Thanks for the info, Ironblade. 👍
  15. I'm sorry for your troubles, and yet, the title of this topic nearly made me spew coffee on my keyboard. 😂
  16. It depends on whether or not you want the game mechanism to do something more interesting. If you don't, then that's a totally legitimate position to take. But, then, why not just call the units of currency Dollars (blue), Spiderbucks (red), and Denarius (Gold)? Better yet, simplify it and just call it resources. No need to over complicate it. One could make the same argument about any other complex mechanism in the game. In fact, (personally- this is just my opinion) I think it would be a more balanced, less complicated game, with more interesting team combat, if we didn't add IO sets and Incarnate abilities. Why overcomplicate it? Of course, as with all things, this stuff is a matter of taste and subjective opinion. I was simply sharing my own.
  17. I imagine two possibilities: 1) She was a "true believer" who continued to do her duty, spinning the glories of Emperor Cole and reporting on the final conflict right up until the moment he triggered the nuke, and died in the blast, or... 2) She was a master spindoctor of government propaganda who, realized what was up, escaped to Primal earth, and fled to the Rogue Isles, becoming Lord Recluse's new chief of Public Relations. I favor explanation 2, personally. It was probably her idea to hire Westin Phipps. 😂
  18. My Assault Rifle/Martial Arts Blaster
  19. Just got the same thing. Suspicious. 👀
  20. It's influence, Blueside. Infamy Redside. Information, Goldside. All of these designations imply that we aren't meant to think of it in terms of raw currency, but rather who's willing to get you things (Blueside) who you can intimidate into getting you things (red) and who you can extort or blackmail to get you things (gold).
  21. Cool. Definitely bookmarking this for future reference. Thanks guys. 👍
  22. I had a great time! Felt like my contribution was meaningful and the combat was challenging and fun with a focus on caution and tactics and working together. So different from playing on teams of high-powered toons with all the bells and whistles, where you just steamroll through content with very little thought. Who knew self-imposing these kinds of restrictions could be so fun? It's practically like playing a different game! 😁
  23. That's fair. I'll keep it in mind. 👍
  24. Thanks. I did join the group channel with my low-level (12) blaster, though there was no one on at the time (apparently). I'll manage to log on at the same time as some of you lot, eventually, though. Look forward to tackling some bad guys, old school style. 😁
