  1. With your question answered, I don't feel bad for this: Respec. No t. Short for "Respecify". Respect is something completely different. ;)
  2. I don't understand how anyone could look at that, and fail to realize how bad it would be to leave that situation unaddressed. I can't understand the desire to govern how others play When that style of play is damaging to the overall health and longevity of a multiplayer game, you're damn right there's a desire to "govern" it. Because it doesn't just affect that individual, it affects everyone.
  3. That's simply not true. Never had any performance issues against him.
  4. Calling it a "punishment" is dishonest and, frankly, unnecessarily hostile. It absolutely was about the cookie cutter 6-slotting being too powerful. The old way left no room for customization. One accuracy, 5 damage or you were crap. Yes, there were actual player complaints about that. Enhancement types made totally useless because there was literally no point to using them when it removed a slot for damage. So, yes, it was about balance. It was not, however, a personal attack against you. Or anyone else.
  5. There was a mistake involving ED: Not having it in from the start. No one would have cared if it hadn't been a post launch change.
  6. The first I can see.... the second is a gross assumption. I've seen a LOT of newbies that never got the chance to play CoH before because it was "before their time" that are hopping onboard the train now. Let's give them a chance as well to learn the way we did, eh? They have that chance. No one holds a gun to anyone's head and forces them to run DFB. The rest of the low level content is still there.
  7. In my case, it's not so much about getting to max level as it is about getting past the TO and DO levels so I can feel halfway competent in a fight...
  8. I've played both MA and SJ over the years while the game was live. Honestly, I found SJ far more enjoyable.
  9. Powers, sure. Costume pieces? Just feels like meaningless carrot on a stick nonsense.
  10. That really depends on the player. Some people enjoy soloing more. Or just playing with an established group of friends. Not everyone is all that social.
  11. I mean...I'm not sure what you'd need a guide for. Just run missions. That's all you need. Crank up the notoriety if you're finding the missions easy, gets you more xp and more challenge.
  12. Problem is the people who often want to have to earn it also want other people to have to earn it. Because what other people do makes them feel less special apparently.
  13. Are you talking characters you rolled up in a TTRPG campaign, or an actual TTRPG system and setting you've created and have published? If it's the former, you're in the clear, no trademarks to violate as long as you adapt them into the setting and don't carry over too many distinct bits from the setting the TTRPG is set in. If the latter...you should be clear unless someone else holds the rights. You're not gonna sue yourself, right?
  14. Couple I remember I can't find anymore: Someone had done a great video to Weird Al's "Ode to a Superhero". Also was one parodying the old man dancing in front of the bus commercials for Six Flags.
  15. General rule of thumb: The same power set will always perform better if it's a primary powerset than as a secondary.
  16. Not really, because as far as I can tell, it only turned up for the one person. Even others using the same scanner didn't get a hit.
  17. Considering that this is an unauthorized server to begin with, I really don't think they're fussed over it. Still, I do think it's tacky. Show some creativity, guys.
  18. Comes from the old "holy trinity" MMO mindset. I've seen teams refuse to start until they have a "healer" on board. For the frigging DFB trial. Seriously. You can run that with a full team of blasters and do just fine.
  19. That site tracks concurrent logins. Not everyone plays at the same time, of course.
  20. That, to be blunt, would be utterly idiotic.
  21. Pointless "carrot on a stick" content that serves only to draw things out to keep customers paying longer. No big loss.
  22. Gotcha. Everyone who has different likes and dislikes from you is an idiot.
  23. Always, ever, obviously a design flaw. Leaving players to sort it out instead of fixing it was even shittier; they don't have the means to fix it properly. Players continuing to play such badly designed games is why things don't get better. Someone tried to bring me over to Everquest from Asheron's Call back when they were still the chocolate and vanilla of 3D MUDs (I'm thinking it was around Christmas '99, since I'd been going heavy in AC throughout the Beta for most of that year) and that was something encountered in the first five minutes, right there in the starting area. AC had that problem scouted in its core design, sorted before it even got out of Alpha. I dropped EQ like the hot piece of garbage that it was, and still resent every player who put up with it. Mind, that wasn't its only failure -- the almost complete lack of character customization and forcing fantasy religion on players was also awful. Sadly, they had more players, because, I suppose, most people have terrible taste. Wow, way to blanket insult a ton of people who liked a game you didn't.
  24. Heh. Welcome to how things were in the early days of Live. No power customization at all.
  25. You mean like that button that says "LFG" at the top of your chat window? ;)
