  1. It was my pleasure. I didn't even know the map went down that far!! I'm just glad I saw the ticket in time. The funny thing is there is a rare duplicating bug where occasionally tickets will clone themselves and send repeatedly. You had 24 tickets all for the same thing. It took me longer to clear the ticket queue than it did to sort your problem out 🙂
  2. I'm getting a sore thumb from all the blocking
  3. That's the one. And they don't chase me with nasty melee attacks
  4. I just woke up and saw it
  5. I have a plant dom and I find the entangle and roots really useful. I solo a lot and the holds and imobs mean I'm attacking with a lot more effect than I would expect. Add in seeds of confusion and outside of some EB's I'm pretty well sorted. I forget the name of the secondary (It's the one where you throw bees at people) but I find I don't use it that much. I do just to mix things up, but with the plants set I'm spoiled for choice. It's funny, some people have their "must have" power and other people look at the same thing and go "meh" 🙂
  6. In a lot of cases, but a higher amount will counteract -def attacks. The -def (as far as I understand it) comes off the overflow first
  7. We are trying to keep on top of it, so if people could still report it when they see it we will try to get to it quickly. And thanks, we try to do our best 🙂
  8. Please keep reporting anything like that. We appreciate everyones efforts to keep the forum spam free as much as possible. And yes, it's a bit weird to get lots of airline spam. I think they might have misread City of Heroes: Homecoming and thought it said Lufthansa 😛
  9. This thread has got off topic in places so I'm locking it. Please think about what you say and how you say it, there is no need to be unkind.
  10. I believe it's the same system so claiming too many at a time clogs the system till the server reset. I truly don't know the mechanics of it, I just had to deal with the fallout
  11. I'm not a dev and only know a fraction of the problems, but the reason it was disabled was that it was overloading something and causing all kinds of mayhem and drama. We made the problem ourselves unfortunately by making something widely available that previously was only available in limited quantities. The system was never designed to open hundreds of packs a minute and it only became an issue when players found a way to do just that. As per usual something that did one thing had an unfortunate effect on something else so had to be restricted. You can still open them the old slow way, you just can't open them rapidly and in bulk. The answer to any question that starts "Can't the devs just...." is generally "They could, but they don't have hundreds of hours to totally rebuild the system from scratch"
  12. locked at the request of OP
  13. Hey guys I understand the strong feelings and have no issue with the discussion, but just a reminder to keep cursing to a minimum. Also (and again I have no problem with how it was handled) just a reminder that descriptions of conversations are perfectly fine as long as the player you are discussing isn't identified in any way. No copy/paste of chat logs or screen shots. We all complain about people, and so far it's acceptable, but don't ask "Who was it?" or variations on that as then it will become a problem 🙂
  14. Have a wonderful holiday, and thank you for the kind words. I suspect it was Jimmy who turned you into a trashcan, he enjoyed that sort of thing 😛
  15. Closing this thread as it's moved wildly off topic
  16. I'm curious as to why you think you have to get rid of it by fighting stuff for an hour instead of just playing the game? It goes away as you play and it's not as if you are bleeding it away with no effect, you are still getting the extra 50% xp whether you spend an hour fighting enemies outside or doing missions. I'm not saying your opinion isn't valid, it's probably a minority of a handful of people, or even literally just you, but it's never going to be popular or requested enough to warrant Dev time. The only way to avoid patrol XP is to stay logged in. Start a TF/ouro then park somewhere out of the way like the shadow shards. Then quit the TF/ouro when you want to continue. Then minimise the window and turn off your monitor.
  17. Wow this thread got complicated. To answer the original question, GM's come and GM's go. One GM has this interest and flair, another has a different one. I don't like forums and avoid them if I can. I do tickets and ingame player help, plus reply on discord. Others are base creation wizards and know almost everything that can be done and can go wrong and how to fix it when it does. Others love PvP and do a lot with that area, others do RP and attend events as signature characters for fun. If something stops it's because the GM involved in organising it has left. They leave for various reasons, job opportunities, family commitments, burn out etc. We are all volunteers and real life has to take priority. Sometimes someone else doesn't feel able to take on the vacated role so it falls by the wayside. I saw a few comments about GM's being rude and dismissive. That's almost certainly a mistake based on how it sounded in the head to how it comes across to the reader. I'm a terrible offender for trying to deescalate a situation with humour and sometimes another GM will point out that it could be read as rude. British humour (and European humour) sometimes reads differently across the Atlantic. I apologise for any offence I may cause, it's not intentional but the funny quip to try to calm things down isn't always as amusing in reality as it sounded in my head 🙂
  18. At the risk of being stoned for being a heretic, but maybe join one of the ToT teams that are about? I've played on Reunion and Excel and depending on the time it's mostly been a full league and a lot of fun. Even a level 1 in PI or KW is welcome (from my experience) and it's lots of mayhem plus league teleporting to GM's and zombies. The solo ToT issue with the EB's will be fixed next year, but unfortunately it's too late to change it now. The league leaders have been doing a brilliant job keeping the teams balanced and active. On Excel we had 4 PI's at one point. I'm sure by the end it will be harder to find people to ToT with, but at this point in time it seems to be rolling full steam ahead. I understand some people prefer to do it solo as it's less stressful (I'm one of those people) but there are some options available if you want to Tot and it's too much solo.
  19. If I'm on any content with incarnates I up the difficulty anyway. 4 person team sounds about right on +4/8. 8 person team on +4/8 will steamroll over everything.
  20. The problem with really long threads is you end up missing the important information. I know I had to search for ages and read a lot of pages before I came across the important info I needed 🙂 Hopefully being at the tail end people will skip to the end and see it.
  21. I can confirm, it works. I was having the exact same errors and once I had removed the old vidiotmaps files from the mods and backup folders it ran smoothly
  22. The XP from the boost in AE was tripled rather than doubled so they fixed it
  23. Speaking as a player and not as a GM I like this. I often skip offence toggles because much of the time I find it really irritating to have to reactivate them after they go down, and often in the heat of a fight I don't notice they stop until quite a while after. Or they go down, I turn them on, they immediately go down again. Personally I'd quite like the suppression time to be shorter, maybe 4 or 5 seconds, but I'm not going to complain. My builds will change considerably on some of my alts as I like the offense toggles, I just didn't like the fact they went off completely.
  24. I was having endless problems early last week that went on for a couple or three days. Nothing I did would fix it and I had terrible problems even logging in on my GM account to help players with stuck enemies or missing objectives. I had to go away and come back, just because the lag and mapserver was truly unplayable. My ISP was messing about with upgrades to the network and older games like ours tend to be more susceptible to those kinds of issues. Eventually I got a router update that took a while to sort itself out and I've had no issues since. But to answer the original question. one mapserver won't make me quit, but it will make me glare at the router. As long as it doesn't happen again I'll carry on. Get another and it's straight to a reboot of the router. Any lag though gets an immediate router reboot. That never gets better, and usually gets progressively worse.
  25. Just because there is a top of the line difficulty for players who feel they need a challenge doesn't mean it's demanded of everyone no matter the build or the play experience. As with all things, it should be a negotiation with the team leader and the team as to what people feel comfortable with doing. New to the TF should start on a low difficulty and enjoy the story and the work that went into it. Those who've done it a few times and know their way around can and do make it harder. There are a lot of easter eggs and fun things in there just because it was cool. Personally I wouldn't enjoy anything on Relentless, but I'm not who that difficulty level is aimed at. I can barely manage a Master Of at times 🙂
