  1. I actually don't follow General channel because I've never had a good experience with general chat channels. How is CoH's? I just have 3 tabs - Chat (Help, Team, Local, Broadcast, League, SG, private messages, etc) Looking For Group (LFG, Private Messages, Everlasting TFs global channel..) Quiet Time (Just npc dialogue and cutscene captions) For the top half I haven't actually set much up yet. Just have Global and Combat...
  2. Its for when I do solo story arcs and don't want to see constant blabbing from any global channels! 😄 Otherwise I end up on the Help channel a lot getting caught up in people's problems...
  3. The rest of the Animus quotes because they made me laugh 😂
  4. Its okay, I think I might have to give up on my quest. Some background - one of the reasons I made my character Praetorian was to have access to the cool titles at 15 and 25. Particularly the loyalist ones. So at 15 I chose the title I liked ("Benevolent"), but along the way I got so immersed in the story of Praetoria that I forgot why I was there. The Loyalist arcs were rubbing me the wrong way and particularly the Mother Mayhem arc (my character is a psychic...) was the final straw and I switched to Resistance. Then later on, I realised I'd potentially locked myself out of the title I wanted! Oh well. That's morality for you 😉
  5. I remember those Scrapyard Demolistionists from when I played CoV on live with my MM. They were one of the first mobs to really cause me problems.
  6. Does anyone know if there is a way to switch from Resistance to Loyalist at level 25? I've completed the story arcs, and if I redo the morality mission via Ouroboros it doens't seem to stick. Is there anything like Null available for switching?
  7. Just curious as to what others find lethal? Personally for me it is Banished Pantheon ‘Sorrow’ Lieutenants and Bosses with their powerful debuffs. Vanguard claw mobs, and melee mobs in general that do -def. Tarantula Mistresses with Arachnos, something about them makes them lethal. At low levels the new and improved skull pistol and rifle users give me a headache if I’m not careful.. Trolls too can be tough. Nemesis Lieutenants if you’re swarmed and kill loads by mistake. PPD at high level.. only fought them once but they were nasty.
  8. I voted yes, not because it is the perfect solution, but it is the most feasible. I’ve suggested this lots in the past. You can just raise the ceiling for difficulty settings and it would keep a lot of people happy. At the end of the day it is vital for the continued health of the game, I don’t see it as ‘catering for the 1%’. Also I would like to see a reason to use the buffer enemies/debuffed players options that are currently in the game. Like +25% merit rewards for each. There needs to be some incentive. But the main thing to do before we address difficulty would be to level up the playerbase so there isn’t such a wide variance between the bottom and the top. Personally I would modernise enhancements by: Making all enhancements attuned by default With this change, let SOs scale up to IO values at 50. The main advantage of crafted standard IOs would be that they’d be cheaper to make than buy. Completing story arcs and TFs give you a random attuned set IO rather than the recipe. At 30+ start having set IOs drop occasionally from mobs and not only recipes. Recipes are great but creates an extra bridge to getting IOs, which some players never cross. This means people could just slot some of their rewards straight away, and gives people a ‘foot in the door’ to IO-land. Maybe they will pay more attention to their uncommon/rare recipes. Ability to unslot by default but for a standard fee based on level... Once you’ve done the above you could start making more general tweaks to mob difficulty imo...
  9. Unfortunately I don't see any supporting evidence for the original post's assertions. Might it be just the original poster's views masquerading as hard data? If you have an opinion you are free to express it, but trying to express other people's opinions for them through your own prejudices, and also trying to quantify how prevelant that opinion is (based on...?) is not going to achieve much.
  10. Just play a MM. As you level your pets get lower level and weaker, and your attacks become meaningless. 😉
  11. For pure -damage I would probably pick dual pistols with toxic rounds, each attack will put -damage on them. Then pair that with a debuff set that also does heavy -damage. Like Dark Miasma (Darkest Night, Twilight Grasp, Dark Servant. Dark has the added bonus of also lowering their accuracy with its debuffs, meaning a lot of attacks would miss and whatever attacks got through would do a lot less damage. Defender has the advantage of having enhanced buffs/debuffs. But the MM ideas in this thread are very good too, if you are looking to lower damage more generally.
  12. Well I do have multiple characters, but only in the single digits. I’m not really into light flings with my characters and tend to go all in! I spend a lot of time on Mids trying to figure out a build I would enjoy or have fun with before I begin proper. If I can’t find a good balance between concept and gameplay fun then I lose interest. My favourite characters are when the concept aligns with fun gameplay. So I sort of have two “mains”. My Rad/AR Defender, Fallout Engineer, who has a really fun concept and is super fun to play. Plus is really powerful both in teams and solo. He has the two canisters on his back, a gas mask, and uses flamethrower a lot (among other things!) Then I have my “if I were a hero what would I be?” character. So this is where I try to imagine myself as a hero and what powers I would have (don’t we all have these thoughts?!). So that is Peacemoon, and I’d definitely be a psychic because I’m pretty mental lol...but I’m still struggling to finalise what he’d be. It’s either Mind/Psy Dom (who is currently stuck at 39), Mind/Empathy Controller, or Empathy/Psy Defender (just finished soloing praetoria with). Leaning more towards Defender since I’ve had so much fun on Fallout, and the powers fit me more I think. Problem is Peacemoon was a Mind/Storm Controller on Live, and I’d miss the Mind Control powers. 😕 Anyway... A great antidote to altitis is badgitis. Pick a character with whom you want to get all those badges with. It’s too much work to do it on more than one character, so you really have to narrow it down to just one 😉
  13. It’s a bit like accelerate metabolism - just fire off the auras when you have a critical mass of teammates all together. I usually aim for 5+ members if I can. If a few people miss out because they’re awkwardly positioned then that’s their problem 😉 If you get everyone to stop and gather you are reducing the effectiveness of the buff, which is literally to try speed up the team not slow it down... Kinetics is a good choice for a /Storm friend as well though, because again it brings endurance and recharge and brings it at a lot lower level. Empathy’s is more powerful but you have to wait longer to unlock it and not quite the same universal coverage.
  14. Empathy would be the best ‘buffer’ for your friend in terms of actual buffs. Unlimited endurance, (always loved on Storm), massive +recharge on Adrenalin Boost (another thing always loved) and with fortitude a nice defence, damage and accuracy boost. Combine with leadership and your friend will be a monster. The only thing you lack is debuffs, but /Storm will cover most of that. Pick up a good blast set with nice AoE damage, and away you go!
  15. I love wolves. Well I love dogs, and I own two Alaskan Malamutes who are basically wolves! So I should really love this set, but one thing I can’t get my head around is how are the two lionesses a good fit with all the wolves? Everytime I see it it just looks so wrong. Two cats part of the wolf pack?! One of the most bizarre power decisions in CoH. I can’t bring myself to play that set because of those two cats! (And also because MM’s in general are the most frustrating and unrewarding AT in the game, but let’s not get into that...)
  16. They’re not part of the Malta Group, true, but they are one of Malta’s assets and I could see how a few Artemis survivors might might join their ranks. Just an interesting way of keeping their old identity alive somehow. Given that they’re meant to be pretty much all dead, and their HQ was destroyed, it would be a tad unbelievable for them to return as a stand alone faction again. Malta could find a purpose for them I’m sure, and they have history.
  17. They’re quite an interesting group of female assassins, it was a shame how they got used for the Dark Astoria storyline, I don’t think that was necessary. Its worth remembering they are allied to the Malta Group. Dark Astoria hinted at a 2.0 version of the Malta Group, equipped with advanced nanotechnology. You could probably make up a lore reason for how any surviving assassins of the Knives of Artemis joined the Malta Group for new work, and have a special Artemis Boss in any Malta Group 2.0, so that they can live on. They could be made even more interesting as a standalone female assassin mob within a faction of soldiers. (I do love the Malta Group!) But yeah, they really are a mercenary subgroup of the Malta Group and show up a bit in their story arcs.
  18. The Heavy Trooper Packs are pretty awesome I will admit. I've always liked the extra glow on Cabal lightning blasts. Would be cool to be able to have those on our electric blast characters! Definitely would make a Storm/Electric Defender with that if we could!
  19. This is my Empaths build which I have rejigged slightly for Energy Blast. I've left one slot purposelyfully free. Its not cheap, more of a "final build" - you can replace expensive IOs for cheaper ones while leveling and work on the final setup at 50. Feel free to rejig this or cannabilise any slotting ideas! My Empath is Psychic Blast, so he has the psychic themed epic set. You could maybe swap for that for Primal Forces and Power Build Up to combine with Fortitude. Also he has Burnout not Aim, for x2 Adrenalin Boosts and an extra Fortitude every so often.
  20. Yes those ruddy ambushes in the defend the mansion mission.. doing it solo on my Dark controller having only just recently returned to the game. Completely hit me sideways. Funny note, on that mission if you release you get rezzed around the side of the mansion, and the ambushes chase you there. So I ended up getting corpse camped by a bunch of floating sticks and other spells! I had to rezz, attack and die about 6 or 7 times until eventually I could rezz without being instantly gibbed! Some of these “SURPRISE! AMBUSH!” Are not very forgiving for characters with not much defences - and at this point I was only doing basic IOs and no set bonuses until max level. Sort of middle of the road, I thought. But given I’m an experienced player, maybe I was a bit cocky having it set to x3 players...
  21. Night Ward is deadly. So many of their enemies can summon pets, it’s like fighting some crazy AE mission. Plus I hate the arcane spells and other things where you can’t see what your fighting, and some tiny floating stick is actually a boss that just did massive damage. Worst enemies ever! I think Crey and Sky Raiders could use a bit of love but otherwise yes more the 40+ factions. Pretty sure 40+Council is the same as the level 25 version? Just vampyrs, wolves and mini gun men? Maybe they should have more warshade powers? I was fighting the Paragon Police a few weeks back, some was struck by how powerful they were, I had to adjust my tactics a bit, but that was fun. We don’t get to fight them much as a Heroes, obviously, but they had some great Peacebringer representation! Probably more representation of Kheldians in that mission then the rest of the game combined! 🤣
  22. To be honest my original post is completely facetious, and I was hoping it was evidently dripping in sarcasm enough for people to see that! 😆 I hate the ToV earth effects. The first time I met them I was almost defeated because my screen was shaking and completely obscured by earth effects. It was like a blind power targeted on the player! It’s really over the top, especially for lieutenants.
  23. Very good point, and some of the old factions could do with a bit of retooling. Do the Crey scientists and medics even have an attack?! Even the Skulls or Trolls are more dangerous then them. (Although Crey is more balanced around super duper bosses, but still). I remember doing a Portal Corps Family mission at 50. I thought “this will be easy, I’ll up the diff to max”. Well turned out they’d stolen some resistance equipment and 1 Heavy Gunner would kill me in seconds. It was a bit of a wake up. There is even a story arc in Dark Astoria about the Malta Group seeking to upgrade their technology to match the newer factions. Nanotechnology I think it was? So that was probably on the cards to make them scary again. Or look at the Incarnate Banished Pantheon. They can pose a pretty good challenge with all their debuffs. Not everything needs to be as tough as them, but maybe the Council could use a little upgrade.
  24. Maybe time to let this one go guys? Neither of you are going to agree and it’s not worth all this negative energy and back and forth. It’s time to both draw a line under this and walk away. Yoy both love City of Heroes or you wouldn’t be here, so try to focus on that!
