  1. Definitely more difficult areas! I like the challenge but you have to be “ready” for it. We talk on here about how the game is too easy, these areas are definitely proof that the old devs were mindful about this. I haven’t done First Ward but Night Ward was hard. The drudges more for the amount of pets they could summon which would cause my own controller pet ‘waste time’. The animated spells purely because they were so hard to see. I hate it when something invisible turns out to be a boss that just did half your health in one quick shot. The worst enemies I’ve fought though are the incarnate Banished Pantheon. The Shamans and Ancients is Sorrow have powerful -defence attacks and it they breaks open my defence for all their friends to exploit. Extremely dangerous!!
  2. Yep! For example for Desinty - I use Clarion if im fighting mobs that mezz, and Ageless if not for the endless endurance and great recharge. I got Clarion first (up to a 120s duration to keep it on permanently) as that has the biggest impact, but got Ageless after when threads allowed. Ageless is great when farming too, as mobs don't usually mezz 🙂
  3. If you’re really serious about doing everything you can turn xp off every 5 levels until you’ve exhausted every contact and mission. I did this once on live for the full completionist theme. It’s not something I’d recommend until you’ve had a good go at the game though. It’s more of a solo thing. I’ve not really done it on HC as I think it’s the sort of thing you only do once 😊
  4. You can send your empyrean merits to other characters by converting them to transcendent merit (50 empyrean to 1 transcendent, Send and then convert back, like what you can do with regular and hero merits). Normal salvage such as threads and shards you can’t do anything with. There is some benefit from having alternative incarnate powers, particularly alpha and destiny I find, so there is always that to use spares on.
  5. Pretty much all the story arcs can be ran through ouroboros and anything of note. Most of the one off missions that old contacts give can’t though, but there’s not much too them.
  6. This makes sense guys. They honestly seem really effected by my Defender’s rad toggles. The numbers on the debuffs are so high maybe it causing them to panic. I’m fighting +4s too so not exactly “easy” stuff. Might be why it always seems to be my anchor that runs!
  7. Yes controllers and dominators are my usual characters too, so not a problem I’ve had to deal with much before. I think it’s more pronounced as I’ve just been fighting Talons of Vengeance and the bosses fly away something crazy, and before that it was Crey power suits who are snare resistant. Sometimes I think because I rely a lot on defence, the anti-kiting is kicking in as they’re missing everytime they attack me.
  8. Well just talking without knowing the facts, it sounds like a group that should be able to take down an AV, at least on paper. The cold shields will give everyone excellent defence, helped by the dark control’s -hit. Sleet should be great for buffing everyone’s damage, and the cold and poison debuffs will help a lot as well. Personally I think part of enjoying a character is finding out what is their niche role, or their USP (unique selling point), for your character it would definitely be the cold domination, which is a great set. Anytime your controls are not super needed just lean on that a lot. If you really find yourself struggling to enjoy it, I’d recommend trying a Cold/Ice Defender, it would be much friendlier solo for damage, and in teams, and your buffs/debuffs would be unparalleled. I’ve isn’t the best control set unfortunately, but it still gets the job done most of the time.
  9. One big issue I’ve been having on my Defender is enemies are so afraid of him. Particularly bosses. He’s really good at AoE damage so lieutenants and minions don’t last long, and bosses tend to just up and run off. And they run far, like two rooms away in an indoor mission. Sometimes they go so far their aggro switches off and they just casually walk back to their spawn spot. He is a Rad/ and the toggles seems to really demoralise enemies. It’s gotten to the point where I’m wondering if he should try take provoke to keep them from running (not even sure it would work), but at the moment I’m going to just try to play more effectively. He has 46% ranged defence and with rad toggles, most enemies can’t hit him in melee either. Is it the whiffing of attacks that makes them give up and run?
  10. Just touching on the double xp; I find it let’s you level up characters without much investment, and characters you aren’t much invested in can easily be discarded. Not saying this will cure your altitis, but leveling up more slowly and forging a stronger bond with your character will help you maintain some interest in them. With a game like city of heroes, the journey is everything.
  11. The best you can do is play around with the colours to something very dull.
  12. Do you need a little extra something or do you want the set bonuses to work at lower level? Most stuff can be attuned but selective boosting works well. Also I tend to boost my 40+ powers because I don’t have them at lower level anyway.
  13. As others said, can edit the tab. 😊 I recommend having a few tabs, works well for me. I have a normal, with things like team/help(I spend a lot of time on help answering questions) LFG, for when I want some action! ”Quiet Time” for when I’m just enjoying a quiet solo experience. This tab only has private messages and npc chat. I use it for storylines where I want to get immersed or if I just want less chatter. I actually never use general chat, but feel it would be too “noisy“ for me.
  14. If you’re used to Controller then Dom can be quite a gear change. Even though they both have control sets they play very differently. Stick with it and it’s very rewarding!
  15. This is why I like playing in teams at low levels 😄
  16. Earth/Earth Dom’s are really fun, I had one on live and they’re great. The shield/earth with the shield set to an earth graphic is a great idea and one id never considered! Shield retains the nice fast playstyle. I would say Doms are quite challenging to play but very rewarding. Your defence is your controls. They rely more on it than Controllers due to their lack of buff/debuff/heals. Earth/Storm is a great controller combo, not sure if that breaks your theme though. It’s still ‘nature’ related.
  17. Events like these are really fun, and can add some really great unscripted excitement. I love it when the air raid sirens go off. I love taking shelter in a building and hearing the chaos outside. Even better the AE buildings as you can watch the ships fly by. I wish they would attack Atlas Park! 😈 You get debt protection so it’s not like that’s a worry.
  18. A defender with lots of leadership powers and victory rush is great at low level for teams. But you usually have to sacrifice something to squeeze all that in! If you have lots of money you can purpose build a second build with level 20 in mind. Like 6 slot just the 1-25 powers.
  19. Found via google, very useful and sorry about the thread necro!
  20. I’m glad I’m not the only one. I don’t need a audio cue that the proc has fired. Particularly since it seems to have a 50% chance to fire on my snipe!
  21. Okay, but we need new terminology as ‘animation shaves’ sounds awful! Inthjnk this could overdone and some variance between sets is nice. But Radiation Infection, Tar Patch and a Quicksand - do they really all need 3s cast time? (I seem to like choosing characters with this!)
  22. I’m not sure how fixable this is but it’s definitely something that I think us Vets get used to and new players we introduce to the game comment on. Leadership powers also have this effect whenever I zone somewhere with all the toggles running. Somehow when they all play at once it amplifies the sounds volume.
  23. The Defender ATO procs could be toned down. The absorb shields has a tiny FF graphic That fires under my character’s feet everytime it procs, and each time it makes the FF shield sound. Since it is 5PPM, it is constantly happening. The heal proc has the default Empath heal target effect on all characters healed. The green is annoying since my Rad/ made his heal orange. I’d rather it did nothing visually then give everyone a green glow! The FF sound on every other blast is the worst though.
  24. There is a universal travel enhancement called ‘Blessing of the Zephyr’ which gives knocnback protection. This can be slotted into any travel power. Chances are this is the one you wanted, as it’s better than the steadfast protection as their are better enhancements for resist powers. The only power that might take it, other than tough and your epic armour power, is Kinetic’s increased density.
  25. I love the junk, but the best thing would be if the summoned item was the same for all players. I doubt this can be changed but it’s a shame we all see different things, like when my husband is excited because he just whacked them with a forklift and I’m like “no that was clearly a desk!” Its fun but can be slightly immersive breaking when we know we are seeing different items!
