It’s one of those bugs that once you notice, you can’t unnotice it. It really needs a video to demonstrate it. I’m not sure my picture above does the bug justice. I wonder if the devs are aware of this issue? I noticed it yesterday on someone else’s character. Since some of us have Hasten on autocast on almost all our characters, it effects our characters more. I have actually considered dropping hasten due to this bug, but I generally play characters that really benefit from recharge 😕

Victory Rush does stack. I’ve been on a team where I’ve had two icons of it. But have 2 stacks is largely redundant; never seen anyone lose their endurance with Victory Rush off a Boss. You would have to try very hard!

Players that took their shields/buff powers, but don't use them
Peacemoon replied to Strawberry's topic in General Discussion
I think when you play a duo with your significant other, make sure you decide beforehand who’s good at keeping track at buffs. Nothing worse than getting addicted to temporal selection and having to say “don’t forget buffs babe” every 2 minutes 😳😳 -
It also depends quite how you want your trickster to play in game. Do you want them to stand back and play a buffing/debuffing role? Is it more of an aggressive trickster who would be quite lethal and assassin-like? I would vote for Illusion Control or Mind Control, depending on the theme. Mind Control is a great set and doesn’t have a pet, which can be a bonus for some of these concepts. You feel much more like a solo hero/villain, holding and confusing your enemies. Illusion control has more limited confuse/control options, but a lot more pet and invisibility abilities, so you wouldn’t be ‘alone’ as much, you’d be accompanied by phantoms and illusions (like Loki does often?) So they are both good but in different ways. As for secondary - if you go Mind you have more options since they can be Dominators. As I was saying if you want your trickster to have more of a lethality edge to them, a Mind/ Dom might be more fun. Especially with Martial Assault secondary so you have kicks and shurikens. All the secondaries perform a similar function so more based on style. Depending on the concept they could confuse their enemies and attack with fire, ice, radiation, etc. Unfortunately no weapons. If you go Illusion (controller only) or Mind Controller, then you need to think of a buff/debuff set to support your trickery. So these sets all play differently so it depends what type of role you want to play. Passive, active, supporting or attacking. Empathy/Pain/FF/Sonic/Thermal have a much more support style to them. Only FF really fits a trickster - shielding allows so attacks are deflected, knocking enemies around and pushing them, shielding yourself for supreme invincibility (coupled with invis). Would be an annoying type of character to fight against and pin down. Traps/ could be good, but has a tech theme. Storm/ would be good, brings a lot of extra damage and chaotic effects with hurricanes, rains, tornados and storms. Dark/ might be fun if you see your character surrounded by dark clouds, obscuring enemies view and making it hard for them to hit. It’s a very effective set too for Controllers. Time, Rad, Trick Arrow, Cold, Nature are effective but not very trickster. Other trickster mentions - stalker? Psi Blast defender/corruptor? Psi Blast Sentinel or Blaster with Ninja secondary? Some ideas anyway 😊

I completely agree with you - and I found it really annoying myself and really put me off my character I was playing at the time because I wrongly thought it was something I'd done and got really agitated by it. 😟 So it was my Mind/Psi Dominator, and I started noticing it a lot just after I'd created some scripts which would switch up autocast on Hasten/Domination when using the movement keys. I couldn't get it to stop and figured it was the binds I'd created, so I threw them all out and deleted the folder. More likely it was the simple fact I'd just trained Hasten. It kept happening, so I figured it was that character and lost interest them. Worse, it started happening with another character, and I was worried I'd saved my binds as my default setting as it was transferring like a virus. I tried respecing my character and eventually the problem would come. I resintalled the game. I deleted all the files and downloaded them all again. No matter what I did it would come back. Until one day my Hasten autocast triggered between mobs and it immediately happened, and I realised whatt he cause had been all this time. It is a little bit easier now I know that its when Hasten fires and I'm stood in Passive stance, at least I know what causes it. Its made me want to turn Hasten off autofire and just get into the habit of using it myself. One thing to note, I've found that 'weapon stance' overrides this bug. Which is why I never saw it on my other characters such as my AR Defender. I think 'glowie hands' from Dark Control/Energy Melee also count as a weapon. So there are a few workaround sets that it won't effect you as much. It would be great if we could understand what is causing this though.

I learned recently I could double click on an enhancement to put it in the AH, rather than just drag and drop!

Is anyone else a total slave to the thematic?
Peacemoon replied to DrInfernus's topic in General Discussion
To be honest you’ve touched on something that would be nice. Being able to choose different pet types. People often complain about Dark Control’s wolf, but what if Fire Imps or Jack Frost could have tech version? Dark Servant, Phantom Army, Animate Stone already allow some customisation like this. -
Is anyone else a total slave to the thematic?
Peacemoon replied to DrInfernus's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but that doesn’t mean I need to be Rad/Rad or Fire/Fire or Same/Same. I had a concept of a flamethrower radiation guy and made my Rad/AR Defender. Flamethrower was his main attack for a long time, and it was so fun in teams. Gradually I loosened the concept a little so he picked up Snipe and Full Auto, but he’s still my Flamethrower guy. So I wouldn’t say I’m a slave to concept. It has to be a good concept and fun gameplay combined, and I’ll fudge it a little around the edges. Also I know he could have gone AR/ Blaster, but I enjoy support, and he can stands amongst the team with all Defender leadership buffs, and all that Rad/ debuffing goodness; and really he doesn’t need to do much else. Of course he took the Fire epic pool and now flings Char in their faces too, and he’s developed into a great character even solo, but it started from a simple concept. -
So another twist in this exciting tale of Hasten - if Hasten is on recharge and you try to activate it, even that failed attempt will lock your character in passive stance. (If they are in passive stance when activated). As such my current prediction is that whatever was done to the power in February's patch to stop it from animating while recharging, has caused this bug to occur. Happy for others to test Hasten and report back their findings! Just make sure your character is 'passive' (stood upright) when you try to activate it.

Weekly Discussion 53: How to Increase Villain Population
Peacemoon replied to GM Miss's topic in General Discussion
Completely agree @ImpousVileTerror. I’m really passionate about letting people play in more zones, regardless of alignment. It would help reduce the red side/blue side segregation, and sometimes I think the discussion between “getting more people to play in the rogue isle” and “getting more villain players” could be unpicked and thought of as two separate issues. Plus, as we know, there are plenty of villains in Paragon City already - so why not some players villains? Same for heroes on rogue isle. As soon as you create a villain the first thing you see is Longbow. It would also be good to do an ‘alignment pass’ of contacts and missions, and try to see whether any of them could be loosened up a bit. As for hospitals and the like, this also relates to your post about having an ‘underground’ movement against Arachnos on different islands. Villains in Paragon City wouldn’t travel around via the train surely? Maybe there would be a sewer transport, or use the sewer network a bit more. I don’t have all the answers yet, but there is potential there. Great posts also! -
What version of traps is this? What AT specifically?

Looking for a Traps/AR build with with BASIC SO enhancements.
Peacemoon replied to vtshadow314's topic in Defender
Personally I would get assault not manouvers if given the choice, especially without IOs. +18.5% dmg is really good, especially if solo. -
Weekly Discussion 53: How to Increase Villain Population
Peacemoon replied to GM Miss's topic in General Discussion
That was my thought too. It’s really the only way the game could allow for different t layout types for villains. -
Good duo with 9yr old Water/Storm Corrupter?
Peacemoon replied to MagmaticTitan's topic in General Discussion
I would lean more towards controller as mentioned, keeps things locked down and still, and will be good for defending her. If you want to play /elec, I probably wouldn't go elec/elec as the aoe immobalise for electric control does not have knockback protection. Ice Control might fit thematically, and be quite fun with a /storm partner. Especially as Frostbite won't stop them from being knocked down by Ice Slick these days. To be honest, I would focus more on a cool theme duo than gameplay. Have you thought about also going Water Blast as a Sentinal or Blaster? You could be some sort of Water Elemental guardian? Super splash! -
Thanks both - I'm trying to limit my slots in Lingering Radiation and then make up the shortfall in ranged defence elsewhere. Too much of Pacing of the Turtle is wasted unfortunately 😕 The other thing is, I quite like enhancing the slow as for my Defender it helps keep them bunched up for debuffs/cones/aoes. For a Controller I probably wouldn't bother so much. At the moment I'm settling on: Pacing of the Turtle - Acc/Slow Pacing of the Turtle - End/Slow/Rech Recharge IO Just tested it with Power Analyzer and it almost caps the slow on a +2 target. So if I boost all of them to +5, that should do the trick in all directions against most targets. As a bonus you get 2.25% Toxic/Psi resist which is handy. P.S grumble grumble slow sets are annoying grumble grumble...
-
It’s not a very nice power to slot, is it? The slow sets have nice set bonuses, but the enhancements themselves are all over the place. Pacing of the Turtle has only one tri-enhancement with any +recharge and has a +damage enhancement randomly thrown in, and even some +range. It also has a -recharge proc as part of the set which I’m not sure how effective it is. If you go for standard accuracy and recharge, you end up neglecting the slow, and as the slow enhancements increase the intensity of the slow not the duration, so I find it very useful on a Defender to max that out. So I have tried several times to move away from my 6 slotted Pacing of the Turtle, but I end up losing good ranged defence and it usually takes 3-4 slots anyway to enhance what I need. There is no respite in HOs either as they don’t effect slows. 😕 The ‘least bad’ option I’m finding is to frankenslot this thing. I only need a single accuracy/slow enhancement to cap the accuracy since I run with so much +hit and +acc. So, how do others slot this power for a Defender? Looking for ideas!

Should I Continue The Archetype Challenge?
Peacemoon replied to BasherBot's topic in General Discussion
I haven’t read the whole thread so sorry in advance. I voted no as I think it’s too much of a mammoth task and not sure it’s particularly healthy (sorry!). However if you were really keen, I’d say redraw the parameters of this project so you can have more fun with it. What I think would be more fun and a little more doable would be to have every 1 of every powerset, and never having the same powerset on the same AT twice (unless absolutely impossible). So for example take Masterminds, create a Mastermind for every primary, and have a different secondary every time. You could plan out the combos before you start. -
I have to admit, I came into this thread not expecting a law discussion on tomatoes. I feel unprepared! 🤣

Have you ever studied etymology or the evolution of language? Or how terms and phrases evolve over time and become repurposed and eventually mean different things? I agree that having terminology everyone understands is useful (see the ‘steamrolling’ thread from last week), but you also have to account for the natural evolution of language. It flows like a river, constantly evolving and updating and adapting to meet contemporary needs. It is not a static thing (for that, try Latin). DPS is just a phrase that got repurposed to mean something new to gamers. It’s sort of slang, as you won’t often find games using the term in ‘official language’. You just can’t control how language is used in this way very easily, people won’t stop using it because it’s academically inaccurate. So in some ways you are right, but in many ways your attempts to police the language (and accompanied frustration) is very wrong.

Good duo with 9yr old Water/Storm Corrupter?
Peacemoon replied to MagmaticTitan's topic in General Discussion
All good ideas in this thread. My first thought was a controller who could keep things locked in place and pinned down. It works better than a tanker for dealing with chaotic control and all the knockbacks, and you could get a buff secondary to help her. I think a nice contrast to Water/Storm would be Earth Control. A secondary that helps her end recovery would be nice too. Maybe Kinetics as speed boost is available at 20? Or just double up the mayhem and go Earth/Storm 😄 Plant/Nature night also be a nice mix. Or Earth/Plant. I’m sort of thinking thematically as well as gameplay wise. Either way, have fun! -
You’d be better off being a defender with the concealment power pool if you don’t want to use the pets. Defender’s get better buffs and heals than controllers, and endurance discount when people lose health. An illusion controller without pets is hamstringing yourself. Empathy controllers are good but you’d need to be using your primary more actively otherwise you might as well be a defender. If you want control and heals without any pets, maybe Mind/Empathy with concealment power pool would be a better fit? Some of mind control’s powers can be used without aggroing mobs too (confuse, AoE sleep, AoE confuse).

A good 4 man team.. there are so many variations of what would be a good team, which is why I love this game. I think the ‘ideal’ would be a team that brought a wide variety of buffs and debuffs. With the right powerset you could do both. Probably a Rad/Sonic Defender with the Leadership Pool would be the basis for any super solid steam. (Other blast sets work, but /sonic is a great damage multiplier) Then to be honest it doesn’t matter what it teams with, the group would own everything. But if I had to pick, probably a controller with /Dark Affinity for a nice mix of defence/res/recovery/regen buffs, and more -hit, -res and -regen debuffs. Plus another good heal. Illusion primary would probably work nice. Last two spots you’d want some good damage dealers. And maybe someone who could take a hit? I’m a bit indifferent there. With the illusionist you probably could just have 2 blasters as phantom army would tank, but players can be a bit more reliable.

Make Triage Beacon like Faraday Cage
Peacemoon replied to Menelruin's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I mean double stacking triage beacons is pretty niche, maybe balance it around not having to double stack it? I agree with everyone in the thread. Traps would benefit from being a little bit more mobile friendly. -
DPS (damage per second) became shorthand for ‘characters who deal damage’. More useful in other games where the roles are more clearly defined. In CoH it doesn’t have much purpose since there is so much overlap of roles. ...was there anything else?

Illusion/Pain is great for a concept, and as @Doomguide2005says, it is more of a team support set. You don’t pick /Pain or /Empathy to be top tier soloer, you pick it for the team benefits. I have recently made a villainous Illusion/Pain (Pleasure Puppet says hi!), and I think it will be pretty fun. All pleasure, no pain, in fact 😉
