Please remove/change "A woman dressed like a Harlot"
InvaderStych replied to Zappalina's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It is not supposed to be "cool." Praetorian Marcus Cole is a tyrannical dictator and mass murderer who sold out humanity over a bargain he could not keep, and when the final moments came he chose to nuke the populace as his solution to the problem. He's not supposed to be a model citizen who is up to date on his gender politics. His beliefs, his language, his very existence is supposed to be distasteful. He is supposed to be portrayed this way because he is the villain. An existential threat to not only his own world, but the world of "Primal" Earth as well. Seriously. Of all the things that Tyrant has done during the Praetorian story line, it is the casual misogyny that bothers you? Not the genocide? Not the complete surveillance of the populace? Not Enriche? Not the actual, literal thought police that invade the minds of the people all day, every day? Not the mind control? Nothing that Mother Mayhem gets up to in her asylum at his behest bothers you as much as Cole's personal thoughts on women? Tyrant is not a player and his (imaginary by the way, because he is an imaginary character) thoughts and words are not subject to the CoC to which we as human players with agency and a hopefully some form of actual conscious are beholden. Do you refuse to watch films such as 12 Years A Slave because the slave owners depicted use language considered offensive today? Context is your friend. And please, do not come into an internet forum offering to "educate" people. That will never go the way you expect and many of us know a whole hell of a lot more about the issues and people you listed above than you could possibly imagine. As a point of fact, this little missive is condescending, presumptive, and for some of us .... well let's say that for some of us this is a <T word which as been previously banned by Mods> point due to events in our personal lives. Please stop. Tyrant is supposed to represent the worst of patriarchal control and dominion over the masses by madmen and sociopaths. You're not supposed to find his beliefs or his language .. comfortable. This. All Day. Every Day. This and only This. -
They're reliable enough in SD/GD on Katana, so by extension similar in Dis/HS in Broadsword. I did a proc based re-work of my Kat/Rad and single target damage definitely increased, but at too much loss of durability. Probably could re-tune the build to get some of that back though. If you're closing in on the ED cap for +dmg and have slots to spare, then proc it up, higher PPM pieces from Purples where possible. It is pretty simple to get a sense of how much benefit one might get from a proc in Mids. Simply slot a proc, make sure the "active" button on the power is highlighted, and check the damage in (parenthesis) for the proc's damage type. Then swap it out for a +dmg IO and see if the total reported goes up or down. It's a short-hand and not as accurate as the spreadsheet based PPM calcs that folks have created, but it is close enough and much faster for me to go about it that way. By adding/removing common +rech IOs in a power with a slotted proc in mids it is possible to find the "enhanced recharge ceiling" before a proc rate starts to plummet. This can also be used to test -Res and other non-damaging pieces in Mids, just find something that does damage with a similar PPM to the one you want to check - although that is not always possible for some of them.

Does anybody have a Fire/Fire/Fire Build with Highest Possible DPS?
InvaderStych replied to Kodo's topic in Blaster
Please elaborate. To date in my testing this only matters in Burn because of the way Burn coded it can apply a -Res proc to its own damage. The only other powers where this happens are ones where damage is on delay like Savage Leap or Mass Levitate. In those it does not matter what slot the -Res is in, only that the damage is on delay. Damage procs it really doesn't matter at all save for those of us with OCD. 🙂 If you have timestamps on in combat log you will notice that all procs fire on the same "second" which is the most granular I have been able to get in terms of server time in combat logs. No matter which slot a -Res piece is located in Leap or Levitate it will apply the -Res before the power's damage is logged because the damage is on delay. In Burn you want -Res up front (right justified) because Burn is Burn. I tested this extensively with Leap and Levitate. Moving procs around and trying them in different orders. Always the same. Slot -Res into position 6 or position 1 and it still does the same thing. The key for those powers is delayed damage, not slot position choice. Again, Burn is the exception, not the rule. If Char behaves like Burn then it definitely needs to be nerfed. It is already numerically superior to powers like Echo Chamber by every measure that matters, and for Blasters has 1/2 the recharge time it does within APPs for every other at (16s vs. 32). However, because of this behavior I have taken to slotting any proc with a duration effect as the last piece to fire (slot 1 or 2 for all FF procs and the Scrapper ATO2 for example), just in case the server is actually logging them on different fractional seconds (possible but I have no idea how to test for that without more granularity in the time stamps). If they all fire on the same "tick" it doesn't matter. If they fire on different "ticks" within the same second, then you're getting that fractional second of extra duration by slotting them in position 1 or 2. I have no idea if that works, or matters, but between OCD and superstition I am doing it anyway. 😛 TLDR: Yes, Procs log their firing in order from right to left in a slotted power. No, it doesn't really matter save for outliers like Burn. Maybe Char but I'd need to see evidence of the behavior to be sure. 🙂 -
It was 2011. I also have a toon who emerged from the rubble of his live/work space several years after the event.

Yup. Such a solid cliffhanger at the end and then ..... nothing. 😞 One of those shows I would like to re-watch, but knowing that it gets cut down in its prime sort of sours that desire. Strathairn just delivers, every time. Hmm... Maybe it's time to re-watch Good Night, and Good Luck.
-
Or keep it with around 3-4 slots and use it to either hit iCap or shed debuffs as needed. Definitely not a tool for a regular rotation, but I have found it useful to shore defenses on demand.

/em audible eyeroll 🤣 Are you ok buddy? Your Snark is usually far sharper than that. There are very few things in this or any world that are "always" true. /EA scrapper following the T9 -> SM -> RoP cycling pattern developed and posted by @Linea in various threads. /thread unless one of your restrictions is "Not Melee" then I'm not your huckleberry because I have precisely one solid not melee toon and even that one plays in melee. 😛
-
Are you trying to survive the battlefield (being "Tanky") or actually control it (being the Tank, ie managing the flow of aggro and controlling placement of the scrum)?
-
"Fury of the Gladiator %(-Res)" - mAoE PvP set unique that you'll want in Headsplitter if you're going the proc route. Put the Achilles piece in Disembowel so there's one in each rather than eating 2 slots in a single power with them. Beta Decay. PS just wants Heal/Rech or maybe Heal/Rech/End. Unless you're slotting it for bonuses there is a D-Sync that is just Heal/Rech that is great in powers like PS.

The dirty secret is that one can look at any Kat/Rad (Or Rad/Kat in this case) build and basically port it over BS. The *real* dirty secret is that BS is awesome and not enough people are using it. 😉 I wouldn't go procs in those powers. The fire rate isn't great and you'll get more mileage out of giving Whirling recharge so it is up often. Save your procs for HS and Dis. Basically borrow any proc slotting from SD and GD in a Kat build and use it for the analogous powers in BS. Chances are you'll end up not needing Slice in a post-50 build, but it is an excellent cone for leveling. For Procs in AoEs: Radiation Therapy - 5 pcs %dmg + Theft of Essence %+End. GZ - 1-2 Acc/Rech and fill the rest with dmg procs. %KD and %(-Res) pieces can go in there to taste, but for single target you get more benefit out of FotG%(-Res) in whichever is the GD analog in BS. Build for recharge resistance amongst the other usual goals.

Step 1: Find any stray jet-pack from recently defeated Sky Raider or whatever. Step 2: Repair said jet-pack to operable condition. Step 3: Hang out in Atlas Park until some magnanimous hero drops an Oro portal for the newbies. Step 4: Step through portal, become 1st Civilian to receive `Entrusted With The Secret' and the accompanying ability to make my own Oro Portal. Step 5: Fly off to one of the surrounding islands of Oro and setup camp. Preferably one of the waterfall ones for a source of water/power, and with some means of bringing over reclaimed shipping containers for construction. Step 6: Daily commute with Jetpack and Oro Portals. -
Complete Genius. Took me a moment to see what was going on with Dark over Blaze, but yeah. Lots to unpack here. Good stuff. For all those who've been waiting for /SD on a Sentinel, thank this poster for finding your solution. 😄 Edit: That is to say that variations of this would work with /SD, /EA, maybe /Nin .... Of course loosing the Brimstone proc would hurt damage somewhat, so perhaps /Stone is uniquely suited in some ways as well.

I've been lurking over at the back corner of the bar for a while. 😄 Though I did step outside for a bit of a chat and a smoke with a Rad/Sonic blaster upon whom I'm waiting to hurry up and finish a patron arc so I can start playing with OG and have some resistance. Same. Ever since I discovered I could reliably drop Hold onto AVs when their triangles were down with a Scrapper while also learning the value multiple sources of KU/KD (specifically those two are my preference in melee). As much as I enjoy the Hover/EvM version of my Psi/SD scrapper, I do miss mixing Mighty in with ML and SC. Yeah. RM is a ugly beast - I used the far left de-saturated colors for IG/MP, and the rest look OK with some contrasting hues and partially de-saturated. /Stone can look interesting with a *LOT* of work, but it was beta so I didn't bother. 😄 IG+MP seemed like a good way to maintain dmg output while paying attention to the experimental stuff. Probably going to fiddle with the RM/DA/Sorc idea, just to see if I can stomach Translocation (or whatever it is called) compared to Combat Teleport (which has me spoiled). Experimentation is as it was, as opposed to Sorcery which was recently revamped, correct? It is pretty poor. AB is interesting, perhaps even useful, but the rest of the powers are just ... stinkers. 😞 RE: Electric Melee - More places to put the stun pieces I supposed, but I suspect that the Razzle should fire more reliably in Atom Smasher than in LR, but that's just a hunch. Unless LR is proc magic like Savage Leap, but IIRC it is decent but not magic. RE: Ice Melee - where are you guys slotting the SFB %Immob? Patron AoE? Not seeing what slots that set in Ice Melee? Edit: Freezing Touch has been whispering in my ear when I open mids for quite some time ... Ice/DA/Sorc could also be interesting. Hmm... It is too bad that StJ's AoE with a mag 3 fear only has a radius of 6. Scrapped that idea before it began when I noticed. 😛
-
Yomo asked for Immobilize in the other thread, so I was curious what could be done to get as much of that as I could. 🤷♂️ The stun is more of a means to an end. Mud Pots has the immob in-built to stack upon. Yeah, Experimentation pool in general is Poo, imo. I'd drop it completely and just put the SFB%Immob in either Ball Lightning of FB and drop Sharks as well. That said, I don't know *why* Yomo was looking for an AoE Immob on a scrapper, but it was fun to give it a go. I actually want to give Invoke a go on a Scrapper for the huge radius - but thinking less about AoE sets for that. Something like Kat/EA with a "leave me alone while I wail on this AV" button. But I already have a Kat/ 😄

Nope. Breathe. 😛 OP is referring to the change that happened in November of 2020, Issue 27, Page 1. They've been away for a while. Before the revamp TW was above and beyond ludicrous.

Author's note: DO NOT USE THIS BUILD! This idea was inspired by a conversation in another thread. Essentially posing the question "What is the best Scrapper AoE Immobilize." TLDR: I am pretty sure that it is Irradiated Ground + Spectral Core Flawless + Control Radial Embodiment. Ahem ... anyway. Paging @Yomo Kimyata and @Nemu ... 😄 I give you a very rough, first draft of The Stunning Immobilizer. I am certain that either of you could clean up the slots and make it work more cleanly, but even this mess was better than I expected. This is not a "good" build. 😄 AS with the Razzle by itself is probably plenty once incarnate powers are in play as mentioned in the TLDR. but it was interesting to experiment with Spout. Especially if leaning on Geode/Hibernate "Oh-Shit" buttons... Spout out there just doing his thing while you heal up. This is what I just sort of slapped together to get the idea going, not remotely endurance sustainable and sort of a hot mess. If I were to keep going this route I'd probably drop the epic pet and yank slots out of toxic dart, salvage those slots elsewhere. Honestly, as good as IG is with Spectral and Control up, I'd be inclined to swap into either a more traditional Soul or Mu build for the epic, spout with the Razzle is ok, but not really an AoE. Didn't do much testing, and IG and AS are doing most of the heavy lifting. Would need a serious tune-up to be good against hard targets. But before incarnates I'm going to say Atom Smasher + Mud Pots is your best bet at AoE Immob with a Scrapper. After Incarnates, see above. Nerf Irradiated Ground. Parked as a Scrapper at L1, but I might have to make it into a tank for the AoE size and target cap madness. This did satisfy my desire to figure out a way to use Rad Melee while using as few powers from it as possible. 😄

Welcome Home. There are a great many missions in the mid level ranges that will net 30-50 merits each. Once you store up 100 merits, buy a bunch of Enhancement Boosters and put them on the market for something less that what you see the selling rate. Honestly you can usually just put them up for whatever and they'll sell on the order of 1m per booster. Keep an eye out for people advertising a "WST" Task or Strike force. These "Weekly Strike Targets" will net double merits the first time a toon completes one in a given week. Use that as your initial influence haul and go from there. Don't sweat recipe and salvage prices all that much. Crafting can be completely bypassed if it is not your bag. If it is your bag then crafting/converting/flipping per instructions found around the forums is extremely lucrative once a player gets going. I'm too lazy so I just buy (mostly attuned) IOs on the market and sell all recipes (at trash prices) and orange salvage on the market to feed the crafters.

Ok. I had to double check the Vault doors, because I know my /SD and /Martial characters have no issues with some of the other entities you mentioned. It appears that Giant Static Objects are the most problematic, while Giant Mobile Objects (Crimson Bot, etc) are in a better place. First though, to be clear - I was not blaming the bind or macro. There are/were objects that are/were immune to being teleported which does/did prevent them from being the target of tele-attacks. This is/was true of both location targeted and entity targeted powers. The difference between these and vault doors is that those objects would still take AoE damage. I did notice that the Vault Door worked with both combat teleport and the tele-portion of SC, so that either was never evident on vault doors (my tele-toons didn't really do mayhems) or was fixed during teleport pool updates, which is when the tele-immunity problem surfaced. For a while there this problem existed on Recluse's towers and Hoe-Dotz' portals as well. Now that I write this out I feel like I am talking about a teleport thing that was largely fixed. So let's rule that out. Vault doors are also immune to Mass Levitate as it happens, which I suspect means they have some extra oddity to them that is not the same thing as let's say the Giant Crimson Bot, or any of the other Giant entities where Melee players are forced to stand on the ground in order to be effective against them. I know there is a giant door/wall someplace where this also is a problem, but I don't remember where. Long story still long. I don't think that the cause/problem is necessarily the same for each entity. There are "Giant" things that definitely take damage from SC and Mass Lev if I am at their feet (super #$^#ing annoying btw) and the Vault door clearly was not. Like all things Cities, it's an inconsistent mess. FWIW, they are known issues and I am reasonably confident that some of them are on the radar for upcoming improvements.
-
Most objects that are protected from teleport will flummox Location targeted powers that are using a macro to make them "targeted." I don't clearly remember, but I think that vault doors also flummox Savage Leap. At least with SC and LR one can fall back on the reticle to get vault doors or other objects that flummox the macro. Burst of Speed macros do the same thing. I have a feeling that there are still some objects which consistently don't end up in the SC/LR/BoS "Area" even though they should be, thus not taking damage as you noted, but I don't think this is a consistent problem as I've been able to damage objects with SC and BoS which could not be directly targeted with my macros simply by landing the fallback reticle near them. Savage Leap/Feral Charge are already targeted to an entity so no recourse for those. FWIW: The hitboxes in Big Giant Things is a known issue. But I don't think that a fix for that will necessarily resolve the issue with vault doors and other destructible objective objects that are protected from being teleported.

I saw roller blades and immediate thought Prayer of the Rollerboys but that apparently isn't what this thread is about. 🤣
