The Winter's Gift and Blessing of the Zephyr are Universal Travel sets and can convert into each other. They were introduced into the game at the same time. At one time it was a good idea to craft Winter's Gift, which you could get cheaply from the elf in the ski lodge for candy canes, and which I think all craft for uncommon salvage / no rare salvage even though the IOs are considered rare, and then convert them into Blessing of the Zephyr which, back in the day, sold for a lot. But here on Homecoming even the one with knockback protection barely sells for 3 million so I never bother converting from Winter's Gift. I know why it would be considered boring, but I still like the process of getting a cool rare IO by random chance, and I like seeing the money come in. I enjoy playing the game more of course, but I have a goal of stocking my base with ATOs and then Winter O's, and I made a lot of progress towards that goal this past weekend. :D

Except that Chinese New Year is not a China-specific holiday, it's celebrated by many countries, just like western New Year is.

Schrodinger's Market: Wait, this sells for how much?
Shinobu replied to Sarrate's topic in The Market
I think it's a bug, but I did sell one for at 20 million. But I think I listed it for 5.1 million, so maybe someone got excited and bid high because of the display bug. -
I boosted all the Kinetic Combats in Ki Push on my blaster Vanellope. I don't actually use the power much, but Kinetic Combat is one of those sets you might want to boost because it's only level 35 and it doesn't give enough accuracy or endurance reduction. A better example might be defense. I had Scorpion Shield slotted with level 50 Reactive Defense: Defense and Defense/Endurance, and a level 40 LotG Defense/+7.5% global recharge. I replaced the LotG with a level 50 and boosted everything. This improved my Energy Defense from 44.82% to 44.99%. Whether you think that is worth the cost is up to you. ^_^ But it's an example of what people might do with boosted IOs instead of attuned ones. I may need to do this with what I have slotted in Weave and Maneuvers as well.

If I've taught myself anything with this experiment, it's that there's absolutely no reason not to buy converters from the market when you've got enough cash going. I've been buying at 90,000 per, which usually requires waiting half a day for the bids to fill. So long as you plan things in advance this works very well, and as you can see I'm making good money crafting 20 recipes at a time. Since it's the weekend I've done more than 20 in the morning and 20 in the evening, I've been doing at least 60 in a day I think. I'm close to 300 million influence now, even with buying all of my converters from the market. One weird thing I've noticed this weekend is with the Miracle +recharge IO -- the last five sales often show it selling for up to 20 million influence, even though there are lots for sale (317 at the moment). I can't decide if this is a visual bug. None of mine have sold for much more than 5 million, but I haven't tried listing one for a lot higher to see if it would sell. It doesn't seem to me that over 300 IOs are listed for 10 million plus, so I assume it's some sort of display error. Here is what I'm talking about. Less than an hour later there are 305 for sale, and it shows it selling for as much as 30 million influence. I'm having a hard time believing these numbers the game is showing me. And apparently I stand corrected. Very strange.

Force Feedback: Knockback/Damage is actually rare even if it shows as yellow. Don't ask me why it's like that. There are a few uncommon recipes that require rare salvage to craft. Soaring: Fly/Endurance is one, it requires Reactive Gas, but it's still an uncommon recipe or IO. There are also some rare recipes that only require uncommon and common salvage to craft, no rare salvage. One of these is Kinetic Combat accuracy/damage, which displays as yellow but is still a rare recipe, but requires no rare salvage. Another is Mako's Bite accuracy/damage, which displays as orange but also requires no rare salvage. Then you have ones like the Force Feedback knockback/damage which requires rare salvage and is actually a rare recipe or IO, but for some reason still displays yellow.

How does converting attuned enhancements work?
Shinobu replied to ZekeStenzland's topic in General Discussion
I believe so, but it gets a bit weird at times. As an example you can take an attuned Detonation (very cheap / uncommon Tageted AoE, level 20-50) and convert it, and you might get a Positron's Blast (rare, also level 20-50) or an Annihilation (also rare, level 20-50). OR, you might get an Air Burst, uncommon, level 10-50. The problem here is that Air Burst is the only regular (uncommon or rare) targeted AoE IO that goes down to level 10, so you will find that your Air Burst won't allow you to convert to any other Targeted AoE, even though you used that kind of conversion to get to it in the first place. Which is a bit frustrating because I like to buy cheaper IOs and convert them to the ones I want to use. >.> I've run into this little flaw in my plans several times now. But I believe as long as there is more than one option at a given level, you can do a same type conversion, and thus you could turn a Bonesnap into a Smashing Haymaker and then a Mako's Bite. -
Personally I find that a hero ranking system that is run by humans and gets things wrong... like ranking King as a top-level S-class hero even though he only looks the part, and ranking Saitama quite low even though his tests clearly demonstrated he's an S-class hero at the very least, is perfectly realistic. ^_^

As I explained in the other thread (not sure why we needed two on the same subject), when two types of knockdown combine it turns into knockback. I am not sure if that's what is happening in Burn... the power doesn't normally provide knockdown. I think someone explained it to me once why this happens, I forget now... but the end result is that if you slot Burn for knockdown, it turns into knockback. And the solution is to slot whatever you have in burn in your fiery aura, and vice versa, and you're good.

Superior Avalanche: Recharge/Chance for Knockdown is actually Knockback
Shinobu replied to falkor313's topic in Bug Reports
Knockdown and Knockback are the SAME THING I don't mean they have the same effect, but Knockback is just too much knockdown. If you combine two types of knockdown, they turn into knockback. The Knockback to Knockdown IO works by reducing the severity of Knockdown. I've seen Leo explain this before, so I can't remember the specifics, but this is a hard fact of how the game works. It's not up for debate. If Knockback happens at (for example, I'm making up a number here) mag 10 knockdown, then anything under mag 10 would be knockdown, and anything over it would be knockback. If, for example, you have two auras and were able to slot a knockdown IO in each, they would frequently hit at the same time and that would knock your enemy back instead of just knocking them down. Or maybe you have an attack that does knockdown, but your Avalanche proc in your aura goes off at the same time, and the enemy is knocked back. This is something I've seen before, and the first few times I was really confused why it was happening, until the mechanic was explained to me. What's going on with Burn I'm not sure because I don't know that burn contains any knockdown, but I noticed this same problem a while ago and the solution is to slot your Superior Avalanche in your Fiery Aura, and slot whatever is in Fiery Aura in Burn, and call it good. -
You can. The drop-down menu under Out of Set Conversion should have an option to convert by Category: Corruptor. You have to select it every time, which is annoying. But it would have saved you a lot of conversions. Since there are only two ATO sets for every AT, you're guaranteed to get the other set with this type of conversion.

Sales from last night. Sales from this morning. At this point I'm over 190 million, and I have already crafted/converted/listed/mostly sold all of the recipes I'd bought, so last night I put in bids for some taunt recipes, and some teleport recipes. I bought 29 teleport recipes, and zero taunt. I had a feeling even as I was bidding that 1,000 or 2,000 per recipe was too low for the taunt recipes, although I can't tell you why they're popular. But I crafted 20 IOs from the teleport (jaunt) recipes, and I put more stock up for sale. At this point I'm crafting 20 recipes at a time, 20 in the morning and 20 in the evening, and buying all my converters from the market. I think I'm averaging about 50 million profit per 20 IOs, roughly, doing that.

My goal with this method is to hopefully hit on a few IOs that sell for 5 million, but I'm also selling stuff that barely sells for 1.5 million along with that. With random conversions you have to kind of find a sweet spot between "everything is really good" and "everything is pretty much crap". I'll usually do conversions until I get a damage/heal/endurance/defense/resistance IO. I'll also stop at holds, and I like Gaussian's Synchronized Fire-Control (a to-hit set). You really have to learn a bit through trial and error what can sell for you. Ah. I didn't go over this part since it's covered in other marketing/conversion guides, but no you can't get to a purple IO from an uncommon or rare. Purples are in their own category, PvPs are their own category, all of the ATOs are their own category, Winter O's are their own category, and of course generic IOs and Hamidon-style Enhancements are separate categories that don't convert at all. Also Overwhelming Force is its own category, but you can do an in-set conversion with that one at least. I did cover this one! Miracle sells for about 5 million, and my personal believe (haven't really tested it much) is that people tend to slot just the +recovery IO rather than a set of Miracle, so most often if they're buying anything else in the set, it's to convert to the +recharge IO themselves. Therefore I think this is a special case where converting to the +recovery IO is not only rewarding for the money you can make, but likely sells much faster than anything else in the set. But yes, generally speaking for most sets I'm careful about doing too many in-set conversions. It doesn't strike me as a great strategy for a Numina for example, because the special in that set doesn't sell for a lot more [note: except I just noticed it's going for 5-6 million. It was selling for about 3 million for quite some time. It always pays to check your assumptions!]. I do it with Performance Shifter because there are two good results, and my usual attitude with Luck of the Gambler is that there are three pretty good results, although I really want the +7.5% recharge, I'll sell the defense or defense/endurance IOs too. I think everyone will have their own rules/limits on how many times they convert something to get what they think will sell well. https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Enhancement_Sets This wiki page is also very useful because it lists the level range for every IO set. If you want to see why I'd craft a level 31 Lethargic Response Sleep recipe, for example, it's because level 31 is cheaper to craft than level 50, and it can only convert into a Call of the Sandman (rare) IO. If I go one level down, a level 30 Lethargic Response can also convert into Hibernation or Induced Coma, and Hibernation is another uncommon so I could convert several times before I get my rare. On the other hand, I have sometimes converted level 30 hold recipes/IOs because if I get a Basilisk's Gaze, those go no higher than 30 but they sell well, they grant 7.5% global recharge for only 4 pieces slotted and also grant recovery and ranged/energy/negative energy defense, so they're popular. But you can wind up doing a lot of conversions to get one, and right now they don't sell for that much, so it's debatable whether that's really a good strategy at the moment.

Positron Task Force Part 1 - Mission Cannot be Completed
Shinobu replied to ResonantString's topic in Bug Reports
I believe if the leader logs, that should be enough. Assuming the 2nd person in line isn't low level for the TF. You will probably have to do the mission again after that but it should clear after. -
Requesting a non-AE server #TBL on July 1st
Shinobu replied to pattycake's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Let's say they created a new server that had no AE buildings. Would I be able to PL a character in AE on Torchbearer or Excelsior and then transfer them to the new server? :o -
Hollows, how do you feel about the zone?
Shinobu replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
Before they changed it it was pretty much like Boomtown or Crey's Folly now -- a big empty zone of nothing. -
Wow, what'd you get that's selling for 5 mil from 989 tickets?! I've just been getting rare salvage for 540 and selling for about 400-500k if I'm lucky. I'm getting about 1000 tickets per 20 minutes, so that seems really slow too. You can do bronze recipe rolls for anywhere between 60 and 75 tickets, depending on the level you pick. Some IOs sell for as much as 5 million (or more -- at least Luck of the Gambler +7.5% recharge almost always sells for more). Uncommon recipes (what you get most often with Bronze rolls) are cheap to craft and can be converted into rare IOs to sell, so it's just a matter of taking the time to craft and having converters to convert stuff with, and hopefully getting lucky without having to convert too many times.

I've visited that base! Or maybe I built it, I don't know!
-
Your origin is relevant insofar as you want bonus damage from a Blackwand or a Nemesis Staff. I like the Blackwand, I always pick magic as my origin. After I've picked up a few attacks from my main powers, my origin isn't relevant for anything. :P
-
You can't story recipes, only crafted IOs. On that subject, I put one salvage rack at most in my bases, but lots of enhancement storage tables. I'd much rather store a hundred IOs than any amount of salvage to craft with. ^_^ I can buy salvage from the market any time.
-
This is not entirely true. An attuned damage IO (generic, no set bonuses) could be slotted at a low level, and it would scale up as you gained levels -- unlike, say, a level 15 damage generic IO that stays level 15. But they never introduced such a thing as an attuned generic, and in any case it's never that expensive to replace your generic IOs when all is said and done, unless you're trying to replace them every five levels or something. Generics already have the advantage that they don't get weaker or wear out / go red, so that seems like more than enough advantage over SO's to me.

My farmer is claws/fire and it is plenty fast, trust me. ^_^
-
That's generally true, but most sets that go all the way to 50 are always going to be in at least limited demand, and I know resistance sets are always in demand. Even if nobody's bidding for one now, I can be fairly certain mine will sell. Where this helps more is in the low level IOs that you don't really know if people buy them often or not. Like that Deflated Ego IO I had... it's a proc so I wasn't sure if it was worth listing or not. Even if I'd seen it selling consistently for 1.5 million, it may be one of those IOs that only sell 3 times a week or something. :P
-
It has been nerfed - it's just a long time ago :) My very first 50 was a fire/battle axe tank, so yes I'm well aware. ;D And it sucked at the time, I was very angry. If they'd only changed it to what it currently is, I don't think I would have had a problem with it. I knew it was overpowered back then. Really overpowered.
