  1. Badges and plaques. And I guess you could use the arena there if you wanted.
  2. Technically you can do this at level 1, but you can't use the power until level 14.
  3. I agree. If only you'd included something about PvP vs. PvE, you'd have gotten a nice long multi-page discussion not really related to anything in the original post. :P But it does sound like a cool idea to flesh these two out.
  4. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,3688.0.html Not sure if that helps but it's at least a piece of the answer?
  5. It depends on my mood. I'm quite fine with slotting level 25 generics and calling that good until I'm in my high 30's or early 40's, but I've been building up a collection of attuned IOs in my base. I've bought uncommon heal/endurance/defense/resistance/various damage IOs and converted them into the rare ones I usually like to slot. For my attacks I often create a build that includes what I want to slot if price is no object, but in the meantime where I have purples and superior Winter O's placed in my build, I'll substitute other sets like Obliteration, Positron's Blast, Mako's Bite, whatever seems to work, on the theory that any decent set with bonuses is probably better than generics with no bonuses (which... is mostly but not always true of course). I just hit 50 last night on my current project, a martial arts/invulnerability brute named Yohko. The build works pretty well but has endurance issues, and I think if I start slotting Winter O's these problems will mostly be solved. ^_^ But from my mid 30's until now, other attuned IO sets have done the job well enough. We did an ITF last night and I think I was the only person to never die -- all of my resist and defense powers are already slotted how I want them to be, those parts are easy since there are no purple or Winter sets involved.
  6. Crafting fees do not stifle the market. Problem solved!
  7. The I25 code is what Leo shared with everyone. He didn't actually have an I24 code lying around to give out -- that's why people that wanted I24 code had to work backwards to recreate it and undo what the SCORE people had added. I also believe that Leo and SCORE are sharing updates not just with Homecoming, but with several other servers as well. Anyway, that's not the main point of the thread, but certainly NCSoft is not preventing the spread of I25 or anything like that. There were just a significant number of people who wanted to start with I24 and then make their own mistakes changes from there I guess. edit: I think the part you are pointing out involves programming that Leo created to get the servers to run the game properly -- I recall him saying that you need to do a bit of coding to make it all run correctly, and if you don't know how to do that much, you probably don't have any business running your own server. Some people were mad that he didn't hand them everything they needed on a silver platter so they could just press the go button, basically... but the programming was specific to your server configuration in any case, from what I gathered, there wasn't a "one size fits all" option available even if he did want to share what he'd done. Anyway everyone else got their servers up and running, it wasn't really that big of a deal. He's not holding back a major portion of the game from other servers, like you seem to think.
  8. My vote is for "I don't care." Since that's not an option, I didn't vote. I'm not particularly worried that we'll be shut down. Other games have had rogue servers running for years. If they do shut the Homecoming servers down, something else will replace it -- there are too many people out there who have the code now, and it's much easier to run these servers than it used to be. There are already a lot of other, smaller servers running. So I can understand the view that you should save holidays for when the holiday actually happens, and I can also see the view that it wouldn't hurt anyone to have a week of Christmas in July, or Halloween in June, or Valentine's Day in August, or Shrove Tuesday every other Thursday, or whatever. :P
  9. Oh, if you mean what combination of powers do you like to fire off, then Lightning Rod followed by Shield Charge is a pretty awesome tandem. Although I could be persuaded that Fulcrum Shift followed by Inferno, Fireball, Rain of Fire, and Pyronic Judgement is a really great combo too. ^_^ or just Fulcrum Shift + Any Big Boom.
  10. I'm not actually sure either, but it might be worth experimenting with two different accounts to see if that makes a difference. I have a second account strictly for PLing, with only two farmers on it and nothing else. It might actually be worth having a second account that only has one market toon to try things like this, who knows?
  11. Rule One: If supply is low enough, then the market cannot tell you what an item sells for, YOU tell the market what it sells for. In the case of your Defender ATO, no it does not sell for 50,000 influence. Perhaps one or several people sold them for that low, although I would tend to believe that's a display error rather than people taking a massive bath on some ATO sales after spending 10 million per pack on a few packs. BUT! Even if some people have really sold them for that price (and I say, of that's true then put your bids in to buy more for that price pronto!), that STILL does not mean you have to sell for that price. For ATOs, if there are more than, say, 10 for sale, convert it to something else. If there are less than 10 for sale then you can sell it for 9 or 10 million if you're patient. If there are only 1-3 for sale, then you can very likely sell it for more than 10 million. If there are none for sale and it's a Brute ATO, 15 million is my minimum offer. ;D
  12. Saitama from One Punch Man? I don't remember seeing him and I don't see him on your list in the first post, but I've seen lots of Saitama clones running about, he's very easy to do and very recognizable.
  13. i don't think Winter O's will drop in price, or ATOs, until a different method of getting them appears. If you have to spend 10 million or 25 million per pack to get them, that limits how much you might want to sell them for, or at least limits the number of people who would want to sell them for a loss at any given point. If at any point these were to be added to the drop pool... or if the super packs were added to some sort of reward pool... that changes everything because stuff that you get "for free" is stuff people are willing to dump on the market for whatever they can get at that moment. As for the rest of the market... There are a lot of rare IOs going for 1 million to 1.5 million right now, and that's near the limit of what I'm willing to craft and convert for. I've already seen the market reach that point once, and it bounced back a bit as people stopped listing product for sale. I think it will do so again, and then we'll get another influx of supply. I also don't particularly agree that, just because people learn to make money on the market, they're also more careful bidders when it comes to IOing their own characters. Certain people will always pay the buy it now price because they want it right now, and that often includes people who made their money by being more careful on the market to start with. :P
  14. People like to play god. If you check out the suggestions part of the forum, there are quite a few posts from people who still don't feel godlike enough. I have a friend who last night was telling me about a server called Unity where they apparently allow you six slots for every single power and you can have multiple snipes. So I would guess people there didn't feel godlike enough either. ::) Everyone has a different definition of fun, that's all.
  15. You should already have 90% fire resistance -- if you don't, you're really doing something wrong. About 30% fire defense is the sweet spot, in my opinion, but adding more up to the softcap of 45% just makes things better, but a fire farmer with at least 30% fire defense and 90% resistance will rarely need to worry about inspirations. You would get there through a combination of Weave, Maneuvers, maybe Combat Jumping, and set bonuses from IO sets that grant fire/cold defense. As for the actual question you asked... no, no other more defensive set is going to allow you to farm faster, because burn is one of the best farming tools in the game. But you certainly can farm on a few other sets if built right. My choice would be bio, if I absolutely wasn't going to go with fire.
  16. I like to slot the Panacea and the Miracle in health. One nice thing about the Preventative Medicine: Absorb IO is that it can be slotted into an inactive power and still goes off. I like to put it in Spirit Ward for those characters who I take Mystic Flight and Rune of Protection on. I don't generally do anything with Spirit Ward, but it's a free slot.

From this, we can determine that people in charge expect to be able to develop new things for the game... in the future. 18. For shame, expecting a gentleman of wealth to assemble his own builds! Looking at how other people solve problems is how you learn anyway. To that end: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5642.0.html A Repeat Offenders repository of builds that certainly includes the blaster build I posted, and quite possibly all of my posted builds, I haven't looked. Certainly a good place to start if you aren't certain on how to assemble a build yourself, or what the possibilities are for a given AT and powerset combo.
  19. This thread has gone off the rails from the original proposal and should probably be locked. It's mostly people arguing over phrasing and semantics and how you define this or that and which opinion is in the majority, and none of it is about the original proposal at all. Besides, if it comes to it, arguments like this are... harmful. :P
  20. Okay, one more. Here's a softfcapped dark/atomic blaster build. Not quite capped for neg energy defense once again, but actually very, very close. This one is not one of my builds although I've used it. This came from a friend in Repeat Offenders. Anyway, a softcapped blaster can be tons of fun, and with Moonbeam getting changed to perma instasnipe very soon this build would be even more fun. ^_^ Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! 21. Lastly, a brute. I'm proud of my claws/fire farmer but since you're looking for more team-friendly and all-around builds, here's a rad/rad brute that I liked playing quite a bit. Smashing/lethal softcapped with close to hardcapped resists, very very tough. I get the impression that you want to throw money at a build or three, and that is kind of how I've built a lot of my characters, which is why I decided to post several builds for you to look at. I'm not always good at the finer details of build design, but I do know how to toss in as much defense and resistance and recharge as possible in whatever order I consider best for that build, with money no object. ^_^ Usually the other details like endurance cost and damage and the like take care of themselves since I'm throwing so many WIOs and ATOs and purples at the build. I can post a couple more if you like. I have a very good elec/shield scrapper that I enjoy playing, and a Street Justice/Shield brute that is another of my old favorites. I could post a softcapped (save for neg energy) empathy/energy blast defender build that I was pretty happy with, because softcapping an empath is pretty cool. I attempted to solo an ITF with that one lol. Could have done it if I'd brought temp pets, I think, but I got stuck on trying to kill the healing nictus with Rommie having died out of sight of it. Hmm, I forgot to post a blaster build too. You can softcap those as well. Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build!
