Umm yeah.. They are pretty crazy. You still didn't explain why it would be a no though. Give me some examples?
-
There are brutes already crushing 4/8 solo. Why would this really matter and get negatives responses? Give me an example of how this system would be more unbalanced than a brute? You guys keep saying balance, balance, balance.. Explain to me something that would be out of this world insanely OP.

The Future - An Open Letter from the Homecoming Team

I'm sure the homecoming team would completely disagree with you. Do you think they are done after the first release, will just ignore bugs, balance issues, and everything else? Do you think they are going to leave things as they are now and just say: 'Screw it. It's good enough. This is our home. The players don't mean anything we'll just ignore everybody, even people with valid suggestions.' I don't think so. Expect some major patches. My attack wasn't aimed towards the awesome team working on this, it was towards YOU, and the ho-humming ridiculous notion that just because they revived a dead game they are going to stop there. That this world is perfect now because said dead game is back. We can all just breathe deep and accept the bugs and brute overlords and leave every other AT in the garbage. You, my good sir, are the epitome of SLOTH. Go ahead and pull out your Porky Pig mask and tell people: 'that's all folks!' If that's what you got out of everything I have been saying since the very beginning, then you are so wrapped up in your own little bubble of reality, that you read into it what you wanted. I never said they would not be changing things, or even that some things didn't need to be fixed. I look forward to everything coming down the road. I have total faith in their ability to take the game in fun directions. My whole point is that, while I have faith these things will happen, and am perfectly willing to wait for it to be done the right way. I am in no rush, because there is no need to be. There is so much to enjoy about the game, that I don't dwell on the things that might need some changing/tweeking. I just keep playing, and having fun, in anticipation of the next great thing coming our way. But, I don't, or condone those that do, resort to complaining about minutiae that waits for fixing, or bang the table for big changes to come my way. In other words, I'm not in it for the short term. I'm in it for the long haul, just like I was during the original 8 years I played it when it was live. So, take your "attacks" no matter whom they are aimed at, and go elsewhere with them. I have no interest, and refuse to validate any of your entitle perspective on this game. Feel free to head over to the Cox/g environment where other trolls gather. Backed ME into a corner? You give yourself FAR too much credit sir. I appreciate you standing up for yourself. *extends a hand* That is all that I am saying. This server is great, but there are things that need addressed. *hand accepted as a handshake, rather than any attempt to require being lifted from the ground* The Homecoming team is great. The game is great, and deserving of every improvement, and update that the Homecoming team will give it in the future. I look forward to all of it. Apparently, in these things we agree. As for standing up for myself, never mistake my civility with the reticence to aggressively defend myself, as weakness. I can assure you that is not the case. If I didn't know how beforehand, my time in the Marine Corps (likely before you were even born) opened my eyes to a lot of the unpleasant truths of the world. So debating over a game is not something I typically feel the need to go the the extremes to engage, or defend. No denigration intended. Just the truth of the matter. Thank you for your service. Respect. -
Custom Archetype would allow you to choose any primary set that already exists and any secondary that already exists and combine them. You could make all kinds of crazy ATs that are not possible right now. This would probably be imbalanced, but it would also open up huge holes in your character that would be hard to fill up depending on your choices. Example: If you decided to go with Blaster Fire/Defender Fire, you would have a bunch of attacks, but absolutely no defense or real way to control enemies. Custom would appear in the AT profile so players who see this can ask questions about your build and see if you fit (group/raid situations)

You sir, are the epitome of Jerk, if we are listing epitomes. People try and lighten up the conversation and the peer pressure on the HC team and you are the one going to extremes turning that into 'doing nothing', not the other way around. Check yourself before you wreck yourself. I am a complete asshole not a jerk, and my points are completely valid. I want to see this project succeed and get better, unlike the person I just beat into a corner who is cool if it never gets worked on again. -

I'll talk to a couple of my buds and see if they are even interested in CoX. They do WoW/Vanguard/EQemu mainly. -

You defeated the point of this thread with your own words. If it's a great suggestion, get some of the best on it and hammer it out in a few hours. Top wizards I know are fast and know exactly what they are doing. If something is completely stupid, I guess you could crucify that person. I don't personally care in that regard. -

Players are not coders (usually), however, using a shield of 'ZOMG THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE TO DO' kind of shows that you don't know what you're doing at all. I know many coders on other emulators. Close friends of mine that work with perl, C++, etc, and they are wizards and can put together source material with no problems. You go off talking about binary 100100111 and that shit is not even used in most of today's languages which SIMPLIFY the process to get things done since it's already built in. I highly doubt City of Heroes coding is beyond the beyond to the point where things can't be changed or added. I do understand their are limitations to various situations, but to MEME somebody when they want a feature in the game just shows lack of skill and tossing in the towel right away. There are indeed more civil ways to go about it without looking like a complete toolbag. This coming from a complete asshole should tell you that this post is almost villainous. Bravo to that I suppose. -

I am seriously tired of this bullshit excuse to not fix parts of the game. "Oh I'm just glad that City of Heroes is back. Warts and all." Dude, that was like forever ago. That horse is dead and the shock of the game being back is gone too. So absolutely YES, It's best to move on and fix shit that's broken and rebalance everything. You don't just stop and smell the roses in game development and think that things will fix themselves. There are multitudes of problems that need addressed right now. -
Makes me ponder why did this in the first place. My guess is a few people on SCORE asked "Hey, can we get Empathy for Masterminds?" Leo was like "Well it's not gonna be great, but sure why not. No harm done" As really, whats the harm. Not every combo has to be meta breaking. Maybe some people really enjoy their Empathy Mastermind. And with 2 Heals, the ability to Fort your T3 (and both T2s with enough recharge), + CM, I am sure it is at least playable. The T3 pets might have enough HP to make Adren Boost a nice HoT too, I dunno. (Recharge has no effect on pets right?) Empathy needs more pet friendly tweaks to be worth choosing at all. If the CD on the regen was lowered, and the 2 powers that are another player only got switched to something new that benefit pets, it would be decent but not great.
-
Mobile Gunner Turret would be awesome. Would also allow for IO pet sets, pushing the total sets allowed to 4 up from 3 for mercs. This would make mercs way more balanced with other MM sets.
-
It not completely and totally sucking would be a great start. 2 AoE heals, 1 is a strong regen but has a horrid CD. 2 powers are ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS and can't be used on your actual pets. (I mean come on my guy, a MM is a SELFISH class. It's meant for soloing.) The rest of the crap is single target and not great. Empathy is the worst set in game, and unless you're into grouping with other players, skip it.

What are your favorite City of Heroes "Dad jokes"?

You can all do better. One of these gave me a slight smile, but not a single laugh. -
Funny you should mention this, because over the years this was not the first attempt at making snipes more useful, and triggering fast snipe based on range was one of the first things attempted. It was also the most universally detested. Runner goes away, suddenly the snipe cast time changes without notice. Someone knocks something out of fast range, the same. To make things worse, the game has no way to base the ring highlight on target attributes, so its not possible to light up the ring to let the caster know he is close enough for a fast snipe, other than to try. Well said. As somebody who played a blaster for a good while back on live servers, snipes always used to be a pain in the ass in various situations that you had no control over. This change is rather awesome and I hope it goes live. People who are against it obviously have no idea what a brute can do right now in comparison to this AT.

Honestly I think the existence of the Aura IOs pretty much creates a need to change all the MM primaries that don't have an "extra pet" in this power slot. Otherwise Thugs, Demons, and Necro overshadow all the others. If we *must* keep to the Cottage Rule (And frankly I really don't think we need to with powers this bad--and yes, Serum is AWFUL in it's current state) then you just make it a choose-a-power, which the game already supports. Leave Serum for the few people who might actually want it, and put in a proper pet power for the sane people. Whether it be an artillery strike or something else, as long as it takes Pet Sets. Power sets are not balanced around IO sets. And really, Serum is not that bad. It sucks because it has atrocious uptime and a painful crash, and those issues can be easily fixed. Theyre not.... but after *so many years* it is a valid critique. Especially for the MM uniques. But besides that can of worms, I agree that the recharge, uptime and crash make it horrendous. That said I feel that it should be able to be used on multiple mercs and not just the commando, as if it were on just 1 target at a time then why wouldn't it always be him? It's a valid critique of the individual power and the set as a whole, but when petitioning for a change you pretty much have to disregard it. No. You really don't. Mercs would be far better off with another pet like power that can use pet IOs to make them balanced with the other sets. Now, I have a Beastmastery/Cold at 50 and I can already feel how lackluster 3 total pets is compared to a necromancer/thug/demon MM.
-
Big hell yes to more sets for MM. Please get creative and add 4 or 5 new ones. Even if they are just copy/pastes of current sets I don't care. It's the fantasy of it that counts the most.

Nul the gull kheldian toggle please.

This is a good idea OP. If we can easily switch from hero/villains, why can't we become rogues too with an easy switch? Limiting everything behind a wall makes the process exhausting and just pushes players to go to the next big thing even more. Especially after E3 with all the games coming out. -
I didn't mean the costumes. What did you mean exactly? If you're talking about balance just look at brutes that are immune to nerfs and get back to me.
-
Just make Assaulter MM Primary/Ranged Damage Secondary You could also do a beastlord type of thing and do MM Primary/Melee Damage secondary. I love these ideas though. They are a piece of cake... Nothing is difficult about making new sets for masterminds from sets that already exist. Their are GRIPS of enemy models you could use for the pets or use the costume maker and create your own.
-
I think a guild wars account wide feature for item storage wouldn't be too bad. Though, you would have cry babies saying it ruins their immersion and separation of their individual characters.
-
You don't like making it easier to send items to other characters? Somebody get this clown off the stage.
-
I personally think serum and other mastermind powers of this bracket need to be replaced with other pet powers like gangwar and the necro ghost. The reason being is having at least 4 pet powers for slotting. It almost feels power sets with 4 pets have a huge advantage over those without it.
