Careful. Devs just might decide to change one of the core mechanics of the game to make their job easier at the expense of everyone that has been playing the game since 2004. 😄

Single target DPS benchmarks - Does this post seem reasonable?
SomeGuy replied to EnjoyTheJourney's topic in Archetypes
No one needs to carry me and most of my toons are in the 500-600 DPS range. Some pop in to the 700-800 range. And this is without Lore pets and Hybrid toggled on. I'm not unique with this. This is malarkey. Anyone should be able to make a VERY viable toon with very high end DPS and not sacrifice the rest of the game to kill a pylon solo. This is absolutely a ridiculous statement. -
Set mule it up. I do that a lot. Take powers just to be set mules.

Sorry for not being more specific. It's not good overall DPS and I don't like the way it disrupts my flow. If you have enough recharge, BF-AS-SS-AS is a combo-less chain and better DPS than any combo. The reason I have, and use, Nimble Slash in that build is because it is procced out and has less than ideal recharge to pull off that chain. Nimble Slash fills in that gap with it's fast animation and gives the Empower combination. I have about 99% certainty it will do better DPS than a build that relies on Attack Vitals. If procs get nuked, the build will change to something that will easily have enough recharge to do BF-AS-SS-AS. The DPS won't be as high, but the overall stats will be higher. And @Bill Z Bubba, you should question yourself. That's a bad power 😄

I wouldn't use it. It's a very cool looking attack. You do a dragon uppercut with a sword? OK! But it slows down the chain a LOT and doesn't contribute to the Empower combination the chain I use uses. If the build wasn't procced out and had more recharge I wouldn't even be using Nimble Slash in the chain.

Everyone's interpretation of min/max is gonna be different, but here is my take (and I LOVE this build): For clarification, I like to make things dead. Making something go to zero HP is the best CC and mitigation. Obviously, you want enough mitigation to do that. ENA does that is spades.

I never could get brave enough to do the melee thing with a ranged character. I KNOW it is absolutely viable play style, and I've seen some WILD results. I'll just sit around and hover and pew pew pew back here....

lol I was just expecting a mid's file. What chain? For some reason, this actually has me inspired to possibly revisit my plant/fire/ice afk-perma-dom.
-
I actually am curious about the build on this one. I theorized a Dark/Fire/Ice would be about this fast and was proven right, but I never considered Dark Assault. I'd love to see how Dark Assault is letting this happen, and your chain.

If @arcane is doing it mostly for their own purposes, up to them. It's why I always do my test the way I do, and I always do them the same. I'm just glad arcane is listing the variables usesd.

Honestly, the "look and feel" is probably one of the more important aspects of a set to me. If I don't enjoy it, I won't play it. I just wish I didn't need to know the numbers as much as I do. Everyone has different metrics for "better". Making the thing hitting you not ever hit you is pretty good mitigation.

...reroll?

Wait wait wait wait...are you saying layered defenses is the way to go? /s

Ehh, whatever % the amps give to your dmg, just subtract that % from your time? You've already got a great idea how the DPS works. Either way, thats some sexy DPS. The extra % in damage does add up way more than people realize. Taking a 100 attack to 115 might not seem that much, but take a 1000 attack to 1150. Now do that to all your attacks. Running Assult for 10% and just having Assault T4 slotted for another 10% is pretty big. Part of why I find those BU procs so sexy.

I like this thread.

Reading about people defending regen is like hearing someone defend the *insert thing here*. *more than fair point.

Fiery Melee performs pretty bad, but not THAT bad.

I think with the costume creator. This game has a pretty good one.

This is absolutely laffo and I honestly might make a thugs/cold MM on Brainstorm to see.

That's actually a type of logic I'd use to not use them (they aren't always there). I just know I WILL use them if I got them. I just don't build to need them.

My first 50 was claws/regen. I experienced IH before and after the nerf. I learned how to play the game with claws/regen. Listening to Inv tankers talk about how OP IH was was incredible irony considering I couldn't herd entire zones at 32 with IH, but absolutely could with Inv. Also, stacking bug...Build Up, Freezing Touch, crash the server. I remember completely kitting the claws/regen out, then trying DB/SR on a suggestion, and having my mind blown at the difference. It was just dumb to me how minimal the investment (maybe just a steadfast and some crushing impacts?) was for the exponential return I got in comparison. I did literally try to make the set work all the way until shutdown. Heck, I remember doing a UG on the claws/regen when the news broke. Regen broke my heart. I don't get anti-inspers. It's a tool the game provides then I am going to use them. Base temps and day job temps? Same thing. Only time I don't purposely use them is when I'm measuring things (like pylon runs). But hey, if it detracts from someone's enjoyment, then be my guest and don't. Not like this game is hard and you NEED them.

I always thought for regen to work best you re-rolled to a different armor.
