As soon as the ATO2 was shown what it is for Brutes that was a lost cause. ATO2 for brutes is pretty garbage, whereas Scrappers got a simply amazing one. Granted, going back to City of Brutes would not be personally wanted (the game was definitely this for a minute). To be fair, what would be good for them? They aren't tankers, but they aren't scrappers/stalkers. Tankers got a GREAT ATO1 and a good ATO2. Scraps/Stalks got really good ATO1 and 2.

The difference even FEELS pretty staggering. All about what you value more though. Rad Armor is a weird duck for scraps and brutes. It clearly is tougher to kill on brutes, but definitely gets more damage with the scrapper version. Your'e dead = You do Zero DPS They're Dead = They do Zero DPS WHAT DO (I pop insp)

Lin has more than a decade long reputation for being the "don't die" person in this game. Lin says "this is how to reduce risk of 0 HP" then that's a fact.

A month ago I would have 100% agreed with this, but I couldn't forget watching someone drop a pylon in a 1:30 something with a procced out BS/BIO, so I had to give BS/SD procced out a go. I was VERY surprised that the BS/SD and WM/SD performed almost the same. Basically BS and WM can have very similar performance that just can't be noticed outside a measured scenario (and even then only a few seconds). Something to keep in mind, the larger a team the more a benefit a BS is compared to a WM. You can slap on more -RES and -DEF as BS compared to WM. And the more people on your team the more beneficial this effect is. My vote goes Kat/Rad though. I don't have that combination and it sounds pretty awesome. +DEF from divine avalanche paired with a resist set? Lots of -DEF and -RES? And Kat performs really really well on scrappers, and so does Rad Armor.

I always described it as punching people with Ducatis 😛

I was going to say both sets are pretty darn fun. They both can feel chonky as hell and it's pretty easy to come up with character gimmicks for each power set (is for me anyways).
-
Oh! One of the powers you absolutely do not skip in EA does make you invis out of combat.

I actually really dig the Shield look and totally rolled a WM/SD cause of it. 😄 But this is my BS/SD's debuff resistance (I purposely went out of my way for recharge/slow resistance): And my DB/ENA: I don't have a x/SR for comparison there, but they have pretty darn good debuff resistance too, just lack a taunt aura. *Put together a WM/SR for debuff comparison and went after slow/recharge resistance:

I totally forgot SD, and I have a EM/SD 😄 SD is a freaking top notch choice too. Just got to remember it doesn't have a self-heal.

1. You are going to get a LOT varied opinions on this one. For pure DPS performance, ET is the "best" place for it. I've personally gotten my best results with it here and that has been backed up by actual math by others. 2. This is really up to you. But if debuff resistance is a big goal, that opinion is gonna be different too depending on what people value more being debuff resistant too. Inv IS a solid ass set, but I really think Energy Aura might be what you want. It DOES have a taunt aura. Look in to it. Type damage defense based set that is pretty easy to go above soft cap with, has a self heal, and you can get a really good amount of recharge out of it. All the scrapper sets that have taunt auras are good picks. Just remember Bio Armor is a monster, but it is absolutely a glass cannon. I have a EM/RAD that is WAYYYYYYY tougher than my EM/BIO and I do not notice a damage difference outside of measured runs. And I have a DB/ENA that is just stupidly hard to kill and my opinion on it's damage is the same. And no, I did not build them to be that way. I've got a Kat/Inv (I wanted legacy sets together and both sets are REALLY good). Inv is a hard nut to crack/kill. Seriously, any armor with a taunt aura isn't gonna be a bad choice.

Didn't expect this one...

Every bonus in that set is good, but the 4pc 5% AOE def is really awesome for positional defense. Iv'e come to love that a lot for Shield Defense.
-
It all depends on my goals for the build, really. The set for ATO2 is really good all the way through, but even then a lot of time I personally only slot the proc in a power. So, all comes down to goals.

OHHHHH Yeah, you definitely take CS. It doesn't increase crit chance and doesn't "crit" (like Energy Transfer). What it does have is a chance to instantly refresh power siphon. I slap the ATO2 in it and call it a day. The ATO there goes off fairly regular. And you can get a lot of crits in right after.
-
Not sure what you meant by this, but ATO2 is absolutely triggered if you put it in CS. Were you saying it isn't affected by the increased crit chance?

https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=scrapper_defense.radiation_armor.meltdown&at=scrapper https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=stalker_defense.radiation_armor.meltdown&at=stalker Basically, the scrapper version gives a tap over 41% DMG (stalker version does 33%) while active (60s), gives 15% resistance to all (enhanceable if you want), and the "crash" is easily worked around. The crash lasts 10s and doesn't let you recover end during that time. But you can pop all the blues you want. Oh, and during meltdown, your recovery is boosted 30%. And on a decent build with recharge, it isn't crazy to have it up fairly often. One minute active and a little over a minute down. So basically, you do more damage and your harder to kill. And the "crash" is easily worked around. It doesn't boost chance to crit though. It's a MUST-HAVE power for me when I do Rad Armor. Lots of T9s are skippable, but Meltdown sure isn't to me.
-
I haven't tried it on Stalks or Tankers. I can't have an opinion on that one. In terms or ST? I would have to only guess the Stalker version pulls ahead? Maybe even AOE due to crit from hide with Burst? Something to keep in mind though, Stalkers have a REALLY low HP cap and base. You will feel the difference in survivability even compared to a scrapper. Tankers are just nuts at laughing off incoming damage. You do have to make KM work though, you really need to maximize those Power Siphon stacks.

Many are wrong. I've done km/fa, km/sd, and currently have a km/bio. The set can be tricky to learn how to get the most out of it, that's a truth, but it definitely can do good damage. /rad armor pairs well with most anything, and it has the best T9 in the game. And don't dismiss EA. That set is straight up GOOD. It's easily top tier. I honestly feel that EA is sturdier than SD (*feel* is the key word). You're Ice Armor idea(I have zero experience with it) sounds like a good one, really. Slap -rchg and -dmg on a thing. KM is a cool set if you like the animations and sound. The final AV in Aeon is KM for a reason.

This is my current one, hopefully you get some ideas:

I know the answer to that question in your first paragraph. As to your question in your P.S.? It's a game about being a Super Hero/Villain. I never understood some things trying to bring this to the City of Everquest playstyle. I'm not disagreeing by any means, I just find it funny. I think I'm just typing as I think. I smell toast...
-
lol no, definitely not trying to hijack anything. I only shared it to give ideas. There is no "best" build. Everyone values things differently and builds towards those values.
-
I agree with everything you wrote up. I've said everything there, just never once as succinctly. The set ABSOLUTELY needed to be toned down in damage, but the mechanics were changed? Da f...., why? The set still does good damage, but that requires a LOT of skill to pull off. Just like sub 1 minute times with it did before (and these were an exception and NOT the norm). The way the set is now, it's not worth getting THAT good with the set just to have middling performance whereas other sets aren't a fraction as complex yet do much better numbers. So before the nerf I found myself not wanting to play the set because it created the feeling of WHY BOTHER WITH ANYTHING ELSE. Now? It's because it's just not worth the investment. You still have to invest SO MUCH IO wise to get OK performance and THEN you have to be REALLY good at playing the game and getting the most out of the set. Where you could just do a different set and get better performance for a fraction of the skill demand involved. The set definitely needed it's damage toned down. No argument about the radius change for Whirlwind. But the rest of the mechanics changes? Jeez. The attack rotation was massively simplified but also put right in that bubble of not being good. I've played the set since it was released before shutdown. Little things make a HUGE difference. There are a lot of little things that make this set a ghost of what it was.

Katana is a boss set. As for ice? I have no input.

Excel. And sure thing!
