  1. Back on Live I avoided GC like the plague, I don't really know why, I just liked Atlas better. Now on HC every new toon begins the career in GC. I grab the plaque for Atlas Medallion and streep sweep as I grab the exploration badges and then its off to the Hollows at level 5 or 6 with some nice patrol xp and early merits. My only real complaint is that there is no trainer in the zone but bringing back all the old contacts would be pretty nice too! I'd love to see it come back as a proper starting zone but I don't think that's on the table. A "Ruined Galaxy" could be fun. What level range would that be? It might be cool to make it a 45-50 zone to give folks who started in GC a reason to return there and bookend their journey. So you start your career in this idyllic little city thwarting petty purse snatchers, then you outgrow that little town and test your metal on bigger threats in the great wide world but while you're away you're little town is besieged by Rikti and you have to go home and utilize all the power you've accumulated in your adventures to give the invaders what for!
  2. I've taken it on a bunch and skipped it on a bunch. I don't think it's a particularly good power but if you have some space in your build it's not an awful choice. A little extra regen is never a bad thing, it just isn't a high priority for most toons. I find that the toons I tend to take it on are primarily ranged toons so the tanks/melee are frontline and ranged folks form a rear line and that's where the spirit tree/beacon goes to help the squishies heal up from the occasional pot shot. If the S hits the fan though, the tree is worthless. It doesn't do enough to get anyone out of trouble. It can be a tough power to justify taking because a team that's doing fine would probably still be doing fine without the tree and a team that's getting smashed would probably still be getting smashed even with an optimally placed tree. It's a prime example of "meh" imo.
  3. OMG! Thank you! I can't believe I never knew this! Think of all those wasted seconds!
  4. I miss funny Snarky pug stories....
  5. I don't know how I've never tried this before but could you be inside your main base and go over to the entrance portal (without leaving) and click your macro to go to another base? I always exit my main base to Pocket D then click the macro to go elsewhere but I'd love to cut a load screen out of the process.
  6. You'll get more drops if you kill/arrest more baddies so group size will be a factor. You just get more stuff at x8 than you will at x1 but stuff still drops at the same rate. I don't believe the level of baddies increases or decreases you chance for drops but I'm not 100% certain on that one. You do have to be careful not to level out of content which is pretty easy to do by accident. You may need to turn off xp at points or you could do arcs through flashbacks to ensure you don't out level the contact.
  7. Dang! That def looks awesome and lots of proccy joy to be had! Looks like a build to be proud of!
  8. I always aim for 5 but only if it fits and doesn't cost me utility. That recharge bonus is always beneficial (especially when leveling) and something I keep in mind when building but it's not so valuable that I'll sacrifice something useful to get it. I don't think that I have any toons with zero 7.5s, probably a couple with only 1 but most have 2-5. Doms are a different story because huge benefits are realized when perma-dom is achieved. I (personally) don't feel a Dom is worth playing without perma-dom so in that case I might sacrifice some utility in order to stack enough recharge to achieve perma-dom. I guess it all comes down to what your build goals are, there is no universally correct way to do it.
  9. This sounds like a fun idea! I'd love to design my own nemesis.! Just let me give them a name and costume and we could use an existing npc powerset to maintain balance. Maybe have a 10-20% chance to have 1 mob on the map swap to the "nemesis" mob and that can be the same enemies that were there before just with the boss swapped out to your nemesis. Maybe your nemesis was crunched for time, they learned of your location at the last minute and had to hire some local freelancers, that might explain the potential disparity in mob types between the mob and your nemesis. Lets call it the "Arch" system or the "Rival" system to avoid Mordors wrath.
  10. I just spoke to the devs, they approve and all work will be complete by June of 3078! Lots of good ideas in there for COH2!
  11. You can also head over to the test server and give yourself as much inf as you want so you can buy stuff to test it out.
  12. Ha! This is what made me start the spreadsheet! I had gone through all the work of coming up with a mids build and creating a toon in game when I realized I already had a Fire/TA blaster and it's build was even pretty similar to what I planned out. I started the spreadsheet that day!
  13. Yes please! I've never needed "ALL" my trays stacked like that but I have some macro heavy toons where I needed extra trays in my main power area. With the current workaround, it gets weird with the placement of the enhancement tray and the slightly different scale of the trays that can never be equalized. I'd definitely want to retain the ability to move single trays where I want. I'm sure it's too much work to ever happen but I wish all the power trays were singular and could be docked to one another with the power/insp/enhancer/salvage/recipe ribbon attached to the top or bottom of the stack.
  14. Yep, Mystic Fortune preferences are at Null. Don't forget to turn off group fly while you're there!
  15. I would not be interested in such a thing.
  16. I don't think you can give a MM 4 summon pets unless one of them is non-permanent like gang war. Dogs of War could probably fill that role but you might need to push it to a higher level. Thugs get GW at 18.
  17. Yeah, Phantasm would benefit from some bonus brains but I think he just needs ranged attacks that don't make him run into melee range. Or maybe increase the range of his cone but that seems like cheating. While I'm certainly no fan of energy blast I don't think giving him Rain of Fire would be any better. For some silly reason mobs don't like when fire rains down on their heads so they scatter like crazy if you don't have something to keep them in place. I'd think that would be even worse than the KB because it'll affect more mobs and offers less mitigation since they'll just run 10 feet to get out of the rain and then start attacking again. All that being said, Illusion is still pretty great! It just sorta demands that you embrace the chaos which runs somewhat counter to most controllers. Full immersion therapy: try an Ill/Storm! Great fun, great damage but good luck being subtle 🙂
  18. To what end? I think this would just lead to harassment.
  19. I got screenshots of all the toons in the pose I wanted and clipped them out of the backgrounds in Photoshop and then just arranged them all against a cool background I found. There must be easier ways to do this today because I spent many hours with the pen tool to clip everyone out of their original screenshots.
  20. Every toon I've ever made has a Mutant origin. This is for 2 reasons. First, I already know what all the Mutant SOs look like! Second, Mutation can be used to explain any powerset! Just think about the power diversity in the X-Men, Mutants can develop super intelligence, morphing abilities, control over nature, healing abilities, the ability to grow blue fur, the list just goes on and on! So I think Psychic is a mutant ability, I just can't imagine the average non-mutie could train themselves to have Psy powers.
  21. I ended up putting a BU proc in Aim but I'm always on the fence with this (with all toons). It seems like it goes off very rarely and I often think I'd get more utility out of just dropping a recharge IO in there. Appreciate the advice! I'll check the build out when I get home!
  22. Oh thats clever! Yeah I can see that being fun, I just gotta play with the alignment and I can bring the whole dang room to us!
  23. Salutations Champions! I kinda like this game and I just finished up my 99th toon last night and I'll be starting #100 tonight and figured I'd post to mark the occasion. I started playing back on live, probably around issue 6 or 7 and played til sunset so I missed the days of the Regen gods and herding full maps into a dumpster but CoH quickly solidified itself as my favorite game of all time! When CoH shutdown I probably had 10-12 50s and countless more in the 30s. My first 50 was a Fire/Fire Tank named Atomic Fireball and he dinged 50 in the Hollows doing a Frostfire mission on Freedom server! When I first found Homecoming (early 2021), my first thought was "can I get my old toons back?" Obviously the answer was "No" but I could recreate them! Luckily I had this picture of most of my 50s from live, some are missing, Atomic isn't there, but these were many of my favorites. So I set out to rebuild the team! I made a farmer and set off to powerlevel my old toons back into existence. Of course, the "farmer" I made was a fire/kin troller because they were the farm kings back in the day but I quickly learned that Brutes were the way to go in this new world so I pivoted. Most of the team was just powerleveled the whole way because I just wanted my old toons back and I wanted to play high level stuff and incarnate stuff and really had little interest in playing low level stuff at the time. I probably did 12-14 toons this way. Once I had most of my old team back, I mainly just played them for quite a while but eventually the itch for new toons took hold. I didn't want to fully powerlevel combos that I hadn't played before but I still wasn't interested in playing low level stuff so I would powerlevel new toons to 32 because at 32 there are no enhancements that aren't able to be slotted except for purples. I did about 10 toons this way. It didn't take long before that got old because it would only take 3-4 days to hit 50 and keeping up with the merit and inf costs of setting out a new toon every few days became prohibitive very fast. During this time I also came to really enjoy leveling up and progressing my new toons naturally instead of powerleveling. So ever since then, all my toons are played up naturally from 1 to 50. Back on live, trollers were my favorite AT by a large margin, these days I still love a troller but my tastes are far more diverse. I have a ton of tanks these days and blasters are rapidly ascending the list. I couldn't get a handle on blasters back in the day and only had 1 make it to 50 (Arrow/TA). I'm up to 12 now and number 100 will also be a Blaster. Rad armor Tanks have become my biggest obsession! I love Rad armor so much that I intend to pair it with every secondary, I only have 6 pairings left! I think my favorites so far have been Super Strength, Battle Axe and Fire Melee. My old love, Controllers, also have some absurdly awesome pairings, Fire/Dark is probably my favorite. It's a really fun tank mage that has taken on mobs that would have decimated a well build scrapper! Just remember to keep some break frees in your tray 🙂 Ice/Rad is also an underrated combo, sure you can't kill arrest anything but nothing can move/hit/attack you and that can be lots of fun! I don't have that many Stalkers but that's another AT that I didn't really mess with back on live but have found to be pretty awesome in my time here on HC. Energy Melee on Stalkers is godly! Stalkers are probably my favorite AT to join a PUG TF with because I'm sturdy as hell and for the most part my only real responsibility is to dish out massive damage to the hardest targets. It's crazy fun without all that pesky thinking getting in the way 😄. To be honest I'm not sure what the purpose of this post is but starting #100 feels like a milestone of some sort. So anyway, here is my list. (toons don't make my list until they hit 50, have a proper build and have unlocked incarnates) #100 will be a Rambo style AR/TA Blaster. If there is any interest I can post all 100 builds in a new thread but they are a real hodgepodge, some are leveling builds, some are fully purpled out and some come from a time long past when I avoided super expensive IOs because I didn't have the resources to support that kind of build. Regardless, they may be useful to some folks. Sorry Khelds, I'll get to you in the next 100 🙂 Hope you enjoy your own road to 100 and beyond!
