I still like Rad/Fire Brutes for farming. You'd probably be better off with a cheap IO build over SOs only. Start with SOs and replace them as you earn inf, it won't take long and there is a big leap in effectiveness with even an entry level IO build. Attached is a cheap farmer build. A SO build will work but you you may have to run at a lower difficulty and rely a bit more on inspirations. If you ever want to invest more substantially in a farmer, I also posted a not cheap version in this thread. Brute Rad Fire Brute Cheap Atomic SF.mbd

Well I'll be damned! Thanks!

I use it a bit, most folks get 4 stars, league leaders and good friends get 5 stars and trash ppl get 1 star. I don't really use 2 and 3 stars. I really wish I didn't have to target someone to see the stars I've given them. I'd like those folks to just run around with my ratings over their heads to make it quick and easy for me to see if I have any past experience with that individual.

Altitis Question: Under-used Toons
mistagoat replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
I adore the leveling process and progression in this game, that's what I derive the most enjoyment from these days. I always start with a mids build then make a toon and run it up (no PLing) to 50 giving it IO sets as it gains slots/powers and going after accolaids. I'll always unlock Incarnates via the Oro arc once they hit 50 but it's a toss up if I keep playing them to put anything in those incarnate slots. I have a few fully t4'd toons but most are somewhere between none and fully t3'd. Most of the time I'm eager to try the next combination of powers. Once a toon hits 50, it doesn't get a lot of playtime. I ran through every single 50 I had during the Valentines event multiple times and I love an "all anything" TF so I'll bust out an old toon to play one of those or maybe I'll grab my toughest tank to try a goofy self-imposed challenge but aside from a small group of favorites they mostly collect dust 😞. I'm at 117 set out 50s and I add another one every couple weeks. It's an expensive way to play but all the tools exist to support my lavish and inefficient in-game lifestyle so why not?? It would probably be wise of me to strip older toons to use for newer toons but even if I don't play them often I like knowing that I could knock the dust off any one at any time and have an effective toon. I'm not really a concept guy, I like a good name and I want to experience tons of powerset combinations and see how they play through the whole leveling process so this is how I go about achieving that. -
Yeah, I ran up a pyro/dark troller and used Black Hole a ton. I wouldn't say it's useless but it's value is very limited. The pull effect doesn't cover a large enough area so I'd usually get just 3-5 guys out of a full mob to pull together. I found the best way to use it was to immob/hold/sleep/ect first and then use BH, otherwise enemies almost ignore the power. They might get pulled a little but then they're right back to running as if nothing happened. I thought I might get some use out of the intang for AVs/EBs but I just never needed it in those situations and using it only would have slowed things down. I think my most successful use of BH was in an arc where the first mission has 3 levels of giant catwalks full of DE. On that mission the intang actually helped because all their buff pets went intang and the DE weren't getting all those buff and we weren't taking all those debuffs. That's cool but it's so dam niche it's extremely hard to justify the pick. I really like the concept and I gave it as fair a chance as possible but I don't think I'll be taking it again unless gets an overhaul. Now I'm playing a Mind/Fire Dom and TK is godly in comparison! A little trickier to use and it's certainly quirky but I'm pulling full mobs into a tight ball so my Scrapper buddy can slaughter them with brutal efficiency! It's scratching the itch that I was hoping BH would scratch but didn't. I hope the Devs try again, there's something there but it's not ready for prime time yet.

I started a Mind/Fire a couple nights ago. My planned leveling build only skips the st confuse from mind. I'm only lvl 20 but so far the aoe sleep has been the most valuable power. I'm running with a regen scrapper buddy and it's been keeping us both alive pretty well. I took TK too, and thats been a fun power to get a handle on! I'll sleep the group, then TK them into a nice tight ball and Fire Breath the hell outta them while my scrapper buddy goes full berserker rage! That may change as we level up and the enemies become more challenging but it's been a wonderful low level leveling experience so far! At this point we've done street sweeping in Galaxy and then all the Hollows arcs and Rescue the Mystic. The only trouble we ran into was when I tried to TK Frostfire and made a mess of that room. Lesson learned! I picked up TD last night but havent had a chance to use it yet. I'm really looking forward to playing with that and Mass Confusion!

Oh you're totally right, I forgot that! I guess they just make me feel claustrophobic when I'm trapped in the copter with a dozen zombies! -
Team phase/intangibility when going through a door

Doing a Yin with a couple MMs can be rough, good luck getting out the choppah! -
As of last night I've completed all the new arcs/contacts in KW. I duo'd all of them with a buddy, mostly at +2x8 on "not-50s". For the most part we enjoyed the arcs. There were a couple questionable choices and I don't like the heavy use of "map not available" but generally they were all pretty fun and had some unique mission designs. They are all a bit on the long side side, playing through them the first time and not really doing any stealthing since we wanted the xp, each arc took around 2-3 hours. Admittedly some of that was learning the ropes on these new arcs. I really liked the one where you have to split up Alpha Team but also in that arc was a mission where you get deep into a cave and then click something and then the whole cave is filled with tightly packed DE and 6 waves of DE ambushes while "map not available". They really setting us up to fail on that one. Next time I'll have my buddy stay at the door and TP me when the ambushes come. At least we'd have a safe place to start from but you'd never know that playing it the first time. The amount of dialog choices is way too high, and the amount of "answer one million questions" interactions with the quest givers and npcs was way too high. There are some fun bit in there but it's just way too much clicking through dialog screens. Way WAY too much! Worst of all is that those myriad choices have no effect on the outcome, they're just flavor and the next mission will always be the same so what was the point of making click 20 times? The inconsistency of contact requirements with your quest giver was frustrating as well. I have to physically return to Erin West for debriefing after every single mission despite being able to call her. Meanwhile Robert Kogan also wants a debrief after after every mission but he's happy to do it via a phone call. Not the end of the world but an annoyance for sure!

Word on the street is that Mind Control is a really good control set, possibly ranking near the top of all control sets (according to friendly internet strangers) but It's never felt right to me and I've avoided it for decades now. A big part of that was the sleep powers and the long recharges on the good powers in the set. I've started Mind Doms/Trollers a few times but they were all abandoned relatively early and they didn't leave me feeling very positive about the set. With the recent page 2 changes, I'm considering giving this control set another try. I think I've settled on going with a Mind Dom though I'm still unsure of the secondary, leaning towards Fire or Psi with a Fire or Psy epic (I know, I know, sooooo original!!). I can usually make a decent build but I'm having a very difficult time just selecting what powers to take. I want too many things and I know I won't have the slots to properly enhance those powers nor the time to use all those powers in combat. I've been looking at builds posted here for ideas but they are fairly old and I know Mind has gone through a couple updates and I don't know what build are still relevant. From Mind, it looks like I can potentially skip either the single target sleep or the single target confuse. Leaning towards the confuse, both seem to be particularly good for dealing with EBs/AVs but I can't take everything. Would you skip one of these 2 powers? Are there other skippable powers in Mind? Is Mind better to play at range or in melee? If I go Mind/Psy, I think I'd want the Fire epic just to vary the damage type since Psy is heavily resisted. Does this make sense or am I being overly cautious? Any thoughts on Fire vs Psy in the secondary? Any thoughts on Fire vs Psy in the epics? General Mind tips for a Mind noob? General mistagoat info: I mostly live in the sub-level-50 world so I will not be relying on Incarnates/Purp/HOs/ect. I mostly duo with 1 buddy, team occasionally but I typically won't have team dynamics or buffs helping me out.

A agree the pet is too big, it's constantly in the way! It's a great pet and I like it a lot but it's far too large.

I don't have any deep thoughts on the state of End in the game but here are a couple ways you may be able to alleviate some of your issues. Make a base and place the Crucible and the Supercollider. You can get a recovery buff that lasts 2 hours from either of these for 2pcs of common salvage and 1pc of uncommon salvage. If you don't have a base all you would need is 1 room and those 2 items, it's all free. Get secondary Mutation from the START vendor and hope for "Pain Tolerance". That is a very nice recovery buff and you have decent chance of getting it because there aren't that many options (6 I think). Don't click it in battle though, there is a very small chance of being turned into a rikti monkey for 60 seconds. When you make a new toon, email them 24k inf and buy the Amplifiers from the START vendor, this will give you 8 hours of strong buffs for only 24k. You could even get away with only 8k if only buy the recovery buff. If you get any heal set recipes to drop, craft it up and use convertors to flip it into a Miracle +recovery or a Numina +Regen +Recovery. Do the same if you happen upon any PVP recipes and flip into a Panacea +HP +End. Admittedly this isn't very reliable as it relies on rng to get the thing you're looking for but you may get lucky. The other suggestions are easier/cheaper.

Cut the filler from the Synapse TF (spoilers)
mistagoat replied to Psi-bolt's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'd like to see it given the Posi treatment. Make it 2 parts and leave the original version in the crystal so it can still be done by any who would prefer. Currently it feels like a slog and I avoid this TF if it's not the thing of the week. -
I'm not opposed to something like this existing but I have no interest in ever participating in such a thing.
-
It has a Toxic hole and no Def debuff or Tohit debuff resistance. The Def doesn't matter but the tohit can make fighting COT a take longer than you'd like. Can also confirm, Sappers must be target number 1 or you die quick. Otherwise it seems pretty solid so far.

Avalanche can currently be slotted in Aura of Insanity in Mids and in game. However, Mids also says that Avalanche can also be slotted in Memento Mori and that is not currently possible in game.

Did some testing. I'm lvl 33, fighting +2 council in AE. This slotting seemed to work the best for me. It will reliably mez +2 Lts. acc/stun acc/sleep end/confuse (there is no acc/confuse, a standard confuse IO might be better here) acc/hold rech/chance for absorb (2 Entombs for the F/C resist bonus) I lose some F/C resist in the swap but the power appears to be more effective. I also tested the power with no enhancements and it still effected minions but not Lts. After the test I noticed that I overlooked Fear sets as they can't be slotted in Mids but as Erratic1 noted, can be slotted in game. So a 6th slot with a Nightmare may be warranted.
-
Okay, so I was going to try some set parts like acc/cc but the best the sets can offer is acc/cc/rech and those only boost the cc by 21%. So perhaps just some standard old IOs would get each cc effect up to usable levels? I'm going to try some standard IOs as I get more slots into the power and see how it feels. I have a feeling that focusing on 1 or 2 cc effects would be more efficient and get me a couple set bonuses but this may help determine which cc effects are most useful. Post 50, a couple acc/mez HOs would probably be great! btw, Mids is still showing duration increase instead of mag increase, hopefully it will be revised in the next update.

I've discovered that Memento Mori does not accept Avalanche and is available at lvl 26 despite what Mids says. I swapped in a set of Doctored Wounds to make up some of the resistance that was lost. Tanker (Psionic Armor - Super Strength) pre50 v1.1 Psych Tyson.mbd
