It's time for a new alt and a Dom is calling me! I was in Mids for hours trying to make a Fire/Ice/Ice work but the Hot Feet/Chilling Embrace monster is too wild a beast for me to tame right now. I may come back to it in the future but for now Plant has once again caught my eye. I've put together 2 builds for Plant/Ice/Ice, one leans into ranged and one leans into melee. They both have soft capped S/L/Ranged (after 3% stealth), that might be overkill but I have no heals except for Spirit Tree which is pretty lame.. I admit I sacrificed some recharge to get to soft cap so permadom = yes, but hasten = no. I try to balance it without Incarnates, if it's good without Incarnates, it'll be great with Incarnates! Taking all the melee and all the ranged powers seems like a waste of power picks and taking half and half seems like I'll get the best of neither so I have to choose a lane. I think I'm patrial to the ranged version because thats where I play most control from and seeds is a cone so I'll be there at some point anyway but with that def I should be okay to go the melee route as well. My thinking is that it's either Frost Breath, Ice Bolt, Ice Blast -or- Chilling Embrace, Ice Sword Circle, Ice Sword. With Ice Slash, Bitter Ice Blast and Power Up with both of course. So what do you folks think? Should I go ranged Dom, go melee Dom or go back to the drawing board cuz both builds suck? I'm open to suggestions. Side notes: After numerous searches I've only found 1 thread from 2 years ago about Plant/Ice Doms! Am I overlooking something that makes this combo undesirable? How do I just export a link instead of the giant data chunk? RANGED This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.4.7 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! Looking for help getting started with controllers.
mistagoat replied to duckman's topic in Controller
I wish this tip was plastered on the screen whenever someone makes a troller! Great advise! The most trollery trollers for me are Earth Control and Plant Control and I like to pair them with a nice debuff set like Rad or Dark. You'll have amazing control over the battlefield and all the baddies either can't hit you to save their life or you turn their armor into tissue paper. At higher levels you'll have the ability to fully shut down at least 3 groups at once. I'm also quite fond of Ice control, it offers as much control as the other 2 but has less damage so I think it's fallen out of favor for the most part. -

Thanks for the feedback Carnifax! I like Smoke but I think you're right, that big damage would be beneficial. Looking forward to getting some slots back too!

Maybe a Plant/Storm? Really powerful and fun combo. I haven't tried soloing AVs but it beats the snot out of EBs in its sleep. I haven't made an earth/storm yet but it sounds like fun. Ill/dark is a blast but you have an ill/rad already so its pretty similar. Maybe a classic Fire/Kin or Fire/Rad? I just made a Fire/Nature troller thats pretty fun and has the buffs/debuffs to do some work. Nearly any troller should be able to solo 2x8 with bosses or EBs. Even my Ice/Rad can do that with ease and ice my be the lowest damage troller set. Its the soloing AVs part that can get tricky. I'd say try a high damage primary (fire, plant, ill) and pair it with a strong debuffer (rad, dark, cold) and you should have something that can solo easily and handle AVs.

Hello all, here is a Fire/Nature build I just put together today. I usually like to look at other builds for inspiration but I couldn't find anything for this combo so I took some of my fire/kin build and adjusted as needed. Its still a first draft but I'm running it in game with no Incarnates yet and it does pretty well. My standard test for a new build is a solo council farm, so I started at 51x8, then 52x8, then 52x8 with bosses, then 53x8 with bosses. it did fine there but 53 bosses were slow so then I did some 54x8 no bosses and that was easy. Its an easy farm but I just use it to get a base line feel for new toons. End consumption is tricky but manageable, the small gap in Overgrowth is noticeable, I think an Agility alpha will smooth that out a little. I'm not new to Fire but this is my first experience with Nature. I'd love some build critiques or suggestions (no winter-o's plz) or general Nature advise. I'd also love to squeeze another 10% ranged def and the shield wall 5% resist but that may not be in the cards. I know skipping the heal may be blasphemy but I didn't like the cone aspect and I was tight on power selections. Controller - Fire Control - Nature Affinity Porkchop Scallywag.mxd

Is this still viable? I thought the toggle/proc nerf made it so the Contagious Confusion proc was not very effective in artic air anymore.

I went with Earth/Fire/Ice and like it the best out out of the 3 set out Doms I have (dark/psy & plant/thorns are the others). It feels the strongest in terms of damage output and control of enemies. The dark/Psy has fantastic survivability ala regen/recovery but I rip through mobs so much faster on the earth/fire. I also prefer a mainly ranged Dom. My def isn't even that good with only s/l at softcap but Earth is your main defense anyway. When everything is held/stunned/falling down and immobilized they can't even get a shot off. I look at it like this, I'm getting all the control I could ever want from my primary and I get my aoe & shields from pools and epics so all I need is strong single target damage from the secondary. This is what fire excels at! So aoe stun > aoe immob > sleet > ice storm and then my single target rotation (single target hold, snipe, blaze) on anything that survives that. Proc up that single target hold, its the strongest attack I have. Consistently stronger than snipe or Blaze, both of which are also very strong. Consume is always handy but I'm on the fence with Firebreath. Its okay damage but its a narrow, sorta short cone and I find I just don't use it very much, I may swap it out for the single target immob as that may have a little more utility. Anyway, I vote Fire!

When I powerlevel something that I'm not super familiar with or just not sure it'll be something I like, I'll SO it out so I can play around with it and get a feel for it without being totally useless on a TF or team. I think I have a 50 Sentinel that I leveled, loaded up with SOs and promptly forgot about it and maybe one more as well. I'd be down to do some TFs or trials with them. I also have several toons I leveled up and haven't touched so they have 0 enhancers, wouldn't take long to SO them either. I'll check what I have when I get home.

Just some quick observations. Hasten has too many slots, keep it at 2 and boost to +5. Move that slot to health and add the Miracle, Numina and Panacea Uniques. Pull 1-2 slots out of stamina for use elsewhere. It looks like you were chasing some defense in your slotting but still fall short of softcapping anything. I usually find that softcapping (45%) a couple areas is more useful than having okay-ish def across the board. I'd aim for softcapped s/l and either ranged or aoe, both if possible. To achieve that I'd lose some of the purple sets in favor of sets with more defense. Get rid of the KB to KD in the pet, its just not needed. This one is just personal preference but I don't like to 6 slot build up since its a power that really only needs 1-2 slots, probably a recharge IO and the build up proc would be sufficient. Then take those extra 4 slots and put 2 more in Weave with lotg 7.5, def & def/end and you get most of that defense back with slots to spare.

What Duo could efficiently get through a +0 MOITF?
mistagoat replied to mistagoat's topic in General Discussion
Sure, as I said earlier, I did it not too long ago and we did just fine. I guess my goal here is to fine tune the formula. I'm curious, how long did it take you and your gf to complete it without a real debuffer? Or are PBs more debuffy than I realize? -

Guessing Psi because its not resisted? I'm not very familiar with that set. I was considering a fire/cold troller but a fire/cold dom/fender is intriguing as well. -
Dis man am not wordsmith... Seriously, I've made a few bios but it takes me hours to come up with a small paragraph that I'm pleased with. I'd rather put that time/effort toward playing in game or in mids, it's just more bang for my game time buck. I certainly haven't made my last bio but I'm afraid they are few and far between.

Certainly, lots of combos will work. I did it a few nights ago with a tank buddy, I was a cold troller. It worked very well and we got through it in 1:17. Afterward we were just chatting about how we could best optimize our little team to beat that time. We're both happy to make new toons specifically for this purpose. How do you think 2 ill/somethings would work? They have plenty of damage and we could have 2 flavors of debuffs. Maybe ill/rad and ill/dark? The cysts could get tricky without a real tank/brute but maybe it could be mitigated a bit with the extra control. If we go the tank/brute & debuffer route again, is there a combo that would really compliment one another? Just looking for a fun way to test ourselves :) -
The MO part mostly comes down to player and playstyle but what is a good complimentary Duo for ITFs?

Oh wow! Paragons a small world! That Doc Q was a blast and those merits will come in handy on this project! I can't take a look until I get home from work but I'm really excited to see what you did! Thank you for taking the time to put this together!
