  1. So long as you tell the people you recruit, there shouldn't be a problem. For old line TFs like the ITFs and even stuff like Citadel there are several options. You can do a 'speed' run at +0, where it will be expected that stealth characters will be completing objectives or teleporting the team to them when possible. You can do an XP/Money run at +4 for maxed out characters. Or you can do a Leveller's run at somewhere around +2 where most of the players are not at max level for the TF; this can be raised or lowered depending on what it seems they can handle.
  2. Black Angels - Young Men Dead
  3. I don't want defenses to be nerfed for the same reason I don't want base raids to return. I don't want strangers to tear down what I have invested time and effort in building. All of this nerf herding has an impact, then and now, on my willingness to keep playing. It's the reason why, for example, I have been reluctant to spend time, effort, or resources on the Titan Weapons scrapper. It was worse in the old, costs-money game. Issues 5 and 6 made me lose interest for a long time. Trying to play the characters, and seeing them less than what they were, is very depressing, City of Heroes is a creative tool, not a 'system'. Stop talking about wrecking what people have spent time and effort at building.
  4. Given the choice between taking a primary or secondary power, versus a pool power, I always take the primary or secondary power unless I know for sure it's a clinker. And scrappers have a bit more build freedom than other ATs get, in that every scrapper primary has a very skippable power that you know is a clinker (Confront).
  5. Something odd. While I was searching through some missions, this came up in the search, and a little US flag/Union Jack icon appeared in the search. I gather this means that the system thinks it was a story in English, and ,.. it isn't. Can this be changed?
  6. Fire also works for this. Everything in the set that directly helps keep you alive is in place by level 16. The t9 is a very skippable self rez. Fiery Embrace brings a large benefit to Fire/ characters, to others it is less, and while I'd recommend taking Burn, there's no hurry. I made a Dual Blades/Fire brute as my Fire character because Dual Blades is a demanding primary.
  7. Latine sæpe loquor; quicquid Latine dictum altius videtur.
  8. Amen. The last thing this game needs is the MMO Trinity.
  9. Back in the Paragon/Cryptic Studios days it always struck me that the people who created the game never really understood its brilliance, what they managed to invent despite themselves. Treating it as a generic, combat oriented MMO, where one player character would struggle to take down 3 same-level minions, was a mistake. What they gave us was a superhero construction set, where with some investment of time and effort you could build the costume you wanted - and create characters with godlike powers. All the many good things about the game are 'construction set' things, the few bad things are 'generic MMO' things. The chief reward for playing is to create yet mightier characters that triumph ever more easily over their enemies. New content that tears down what we have built up is just going to be ignored while the classic content is still available.
  10. Rending Flurry is worth having, because popping the stack makes the AoE wider and do more damage. This is your Foot Stomp. I skipped Hemorrhage myself on my savage melee character (dark/savage tanker). The set works well with old line armor sets like Dark, Fire, or Invuln, largely because stacking the frenzy gives you an endurance discount.
  11. I would have the zone periodically spawn giant monsters or AVs of similar stature: Ruladak, Adamastor, Jack and Eochai. some of the DE giant monsters, runaway Goliath War Walkers, that sort of thing. The more heroic side of the zone is too creepily perfect and is ripe for being trashed by kaiju. Ideally we could get some new and original giant monsters for the zone: a giant, fire breathing dinosaur would be perfect, as would a giant ape with super jump. Failing that, a fire based Adamastor might be fun.
  12. Invuln/Dark Melee tanker - the 'complete tanker' package. No real holes because of the self heal in the middle of the attack chain. Ice/Plants blaster - built to be of maximum use in Hamidon raiding. Archery/Devices blaster - a much more traditional DPS oriented blaster and stealthist. Dual Blades/Fire Armor brute - supplies any missing salvage and gives everyone else the minimal inf they need by running AE, quite adequate in other content that doesn't specifically disfavor melee. Kinetic Melee/Radiation Armor scrapper - a speedster concept.
  13. I don't have any data on this, but it seems to be happening much more often since the ragdoll physics patch. It mostly annoys me when I try to target them.
  14. It looks like within the foreseeable future I will need to strip and send away my Titan Weapons/Willpower scrapper. I've been reluctant to play the character for some time now. The drums have said for a long time that Titan Weapons was too strong ~ even though it's like Granite, with substantial penalties attached. This has made it hard to motivate me to log on to her. I found Titan Weapons more annoying than overpowered anyways. It is not a whole-game set, and playing it under 32 is rather unsatisfying. Teams kill the mobs before your AoEs animate. I won't really miss the character: but even if she is turned into a sad and inferior thing, she will at least live on in exile from Torchbearer. This means a lot of scrapper IOs and such will be lying around. I'll want a new scrapper to give them to. I had a spines/WP scrapper on Victory that I was quite fond of. I have a bio/spines tanker already that is her unofficial successor, If I do make another spines character I am thinking Spines/Radiation. The available melee sets that I haven't taken to 50 yet are Axe, Sword, Claws, Electric, and Psionic. None of these really interest me, although Psionic is a set I have never played anywhere then or now. Not sure I ever played Claws, either; I was more of a DC than Marvel person before 2011. Should I be considering one of those instead?
  15. Corona is just the Latin for 'crown', the source of all of those other uses. It is the origin of English 'crown', and I think the word passes without change into Italian and Spanish.
  16. As a secondary Willpower gets Quick Recovery at 20, which is right about the time you'll get kicked out of Praetoria. If you roll a tanker it comes at 12. What it does have going for it at those levels is some defense to psi damage and general ease of operation. It also provides resistance to Fear and Confusion, which we all could use a little more of these days.
  17. Generally, level 50 characters who aren't extraordinarily unlucky can count on getting one converter to drop a day. I have several level 50 characters so I try to play different ones daily for at least a little while, to collect them. Depending on AT, working the Cimeroran walls is an option. You must defeat level 50 mobs as a 60, but exemp content also works. Do this for 6 days and you should have enough to upgrade a full set of ATOs. I can do this as soon as a character dings 50 because I have a stockpile.
  18. I finally finished levelling up a fire armor character a couple months ago. Not really a farmer build, either (DB/fire brute). I thought I'd give fire farming a try. I got bored very quickly with the standard issue, played more than a thousand times, fire farms. Mowing down characters in player costumes and all identical attacks was interesting maybe twice. I didn't recognize many of the player costumes, either. However lucrative it might be, it just wasn't holding my interest, and Dual Blades doesn't really support an AFK farming play style either. Time to adopt, adapt, and improve, I guess. I made my own fire-tuned AE story where the mobs had interesting jokes to tell. I tried to have it make sense why these characters would be there and why they would all have fire attacks. The result was still rather rudimentary, and the missions are a bit harder than conventional fire farms, because I mixed up the attacks used by certain characters. Like most of my AEs, there are also elements of tank-challenge in it; it's genuinely hard to keep the ally NPCs alive at +4/8. I also added some features I had not seen in other fire farms: the NPC allies will guide you to mission goals if you can keep them alive. I'm sure I'll get bored with farming this one too, but I think it has more personality than the standard fire farms, which is one thing I look for in AE missions.
  19. So meta is more like -- -- "I think I know why people who do Hamidon raids frequently would understand why I would prefer to bring my ice/plants blaster. Three fast recharging ranged holds that do blaster tier damage are handy to have there. I expect the other raiders to understand this. And I am somewhat pleased with myself that I figured this out.' Am I getting closer?
  20. Deep Purple - Hush
  21. Black Mountain - Wucan
  22. Also, be sure to run Maria Jenkins' arc, for AV defeats you will need for accolades, if you haven't already. If you don't team regularly, I prefer the Ouroboros version with Statesman: no square white lab maps, but that's a Ouro version and you have to commit to the whole thing to get maximum benefit from it. All content from Posi 1 forward earns you incarnate credit even when exemped down if you run it as a 50. Running weekly target task forces like Citadel also counts when running exemped from 50. Weekly targets also earn you Notices of the Well, which are mostly important for the 'shards' path towards Alpha. (Since the shards path is harder than the threads path, I tend to save the shards. Moving from t3 to t4 alpha requires you to craft a second Alpha and get it to t3 along the path not taken. When you get ready to make that step, you may well have enough shards and notices to get at least part of the way there without using up your Empyrean merits or threads.)
  23. I wouldn't roll a Stone Armor anything, at least not until it gets ported to Stalkers. You can spend most of your merits, inf, and effort working around the penalties of Granite and Rooted, but you'll eventually lose interest. I had a stone armor tanker on Victory, played the character to 50. Rolled this one during the dark days of i5, but never really took a shine to her and once IOs came around I went back to building up Heraclea. If you decide to go Granite, make a Tanker; Stone Armor brute is a possibility, but it'll end in tears. Stone Melee is quite good for tankers, on the other hand. Pair it with a high control primary like Ice or Dark. You'll be a real melee controller, incapacitating mobs so your teammates can mow them down.
  24. Well, the reason why I don't like Apex is because I don't think tankers or brutes have much of a role in the last battle. It's all constant headless chicken mode. You can't get a lock on the AV or stand up to her. I'd be more useful as a blaster. Sad, because Battle Maiden is a personal favorite. I would boycott the TF on old live because I thought such content should be discouraged. Now that we're probably stuck with it and it'a unlikely to be repaired, I just avoid it.
  25. So, while the characters I tend to enjoy most are melees like tankers, brutes, and scrappers - but I don't usually bring them to Hami raids because I see them as being less useful there. Especially compared to the ice/plants blaster I usually bring - a character I started to claim a punny name - because I thought that character would have useful skills for the event? Likewise, I am reluctant to bring a tanker or brute to the BAF, because trying to tank the AVs means not getting to participate, and tanking is irrelevant on the prisoners segment? I do have one tanker I will bring: the one with Quicksand. That at least gets to play at one point of the raid. But the rest of the time I feel like I am just being carried? And I just tend to avoid the Apex TF, because I don't like that feeling? This is 'meta', then?
