Yomo's New and Improved Bang-Up Salmagundi Spectacular!!!
Yomo Kimyata replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in General Discussion
100mm is 100 million inf, and I'm only going to send it to people who send me in-game emails as mentioned in the instructions. Happy hunting! -
I'm not a fan of elemental swords, and everyone seemed to hate GIS on a DPS/A basis so I generally take frozen fists and skip the two ice swords. Not optimal, but Ice Patch, Freezing Touch, and Frozen Aura carry the set.
-
Once per activation. But that's plenty.

Two top 5 sets in my books, but I don't find they synergize very well in my experience. I usually take 6 powers from Ice Melee (T1 or T2, Frost, Build Up, Ice Patch, Freezing Touch, Frozen Aura). The problem with slotting the crit strikes proc is that you'd like it to be active for Freezing Touch in ST and/or Frozen Aura for AoE, so slotting it in either of those gives great trigger chances but reduces your crit damage. Frost is a good place if you take the time to line up 3 or more in the cone. I like to match Ice Melee with more offensive secondaries like Bio or Radiation Armor, and I'll slot the Crit strikes proc in DNa Siphon or Radiation Therapy. Freezing Touch takes holds and Frozen Aura takes sleep; I generally frankenslot the former with Hecatomb and Unconstrained and for Frozen Aura will 5-slot superior avalanche and the heal from Call of the Sandman. I'll also slot my other single target attack with 5 sup Blistering Cold including the hold proc -- you'll stack holds on bosses even without a Lockdown proc in Freezing Touch. Ice Melee is a control set, and I find that works better with resistance based secondaries. I always overbuild Ice Armor since I mostly pay attention to positional defenses. I'll take everything except Icicles unless I really want Icicles. I don't remember if the Energy Manipulator stun proc automatically works on minions or if the lack of accuracy hurts, but it's a decent way to neuter minions while you work on the bosses. Icy Bastion is a fantastic power, and you should end up with maxxed out resistances on all but psi when it's active. I wish I could 8 slot that power.

Fear Deserves its own Purple/Very Rare Set

I would take a +5 purple recharge/fear io all day! It’s a big hole in current enhancements -

I was referring to a 6-piece set bonus of 5% positional defense. Contagion would be fun! -

I did know, but truth be told, I didn't spell it right the first few times... -
Fear Deserves its own Purple/Very Rare Set
Yomo Kimyata replied to Mystoc's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I’d say it would be reasonable to mimic the purple sleep set in terms of bonuses. Every character can get a fear power so I’d hesitate to mimic the confuse set. A neat proc might be a chance for -10% damage for ten seconds. Too scared to hit hard! -
I tend to associate good/bad luck with Time manipulation.

I think my origins go something like: 20% mutant -- anything radioactive. Origin stories include: was hit by a radioactive bus. 5% technology -- I never really liked this origin because it implies that the hero isn't special, they just have tech. However, it's really easy to distinguish the gear-like border of tech SOs. 30% magic -- magic shovel, magic flintlock, magic pipe wrench. 10% science -- I usually go with the fouress potion ("Super secret soldier serum") 35% natural -- I was born this way, deal with it. That includes aliens and most traditional mutant stories.

Sigh...this is why we can't have nice things.
Yomo Kimyata replied to Skyhawke's topic in General Discussion
Well, I just now bought about 50 level 26 Undermined Defense recipes from the /AH. I could have got them cheaper if I put the bids on now and waited a day+ for other people to sell to me cheaper, but so be it. I also put in bids for all the relevant salvage since I don't feel like chasing yellow right now. Next time I log in on this character, I will craft them. Convert by category for 2 converters each and I will have 50 Touch of Lady Grey. I will convert each one of those by rare until I have something that I would consider slotting in one of my characters, which is a loose proxy for if something is valuable or not. I think you should have a good idea of what the useful IOs are by now, but if not look at the last 5 trades are (hopefully it's not a bugged display!) and see if it consistently trades over 2mm. Put them on the /AH at a price a little higher than what you think the floor is based on the last 5. The next time I log in after that, I expect to have cleared 100-250mm. Total time will take me about 30 minutes. Two minutes today buying. Twenty-seven minutes tomorrow crafting, converting, and listing. One minute the day after tomorrow to claim inf. Can you do it all in one single 30-minute session? Sure. But then you are buying salvage at full offer price, and if you are selling at 5inf you are only going to be hitting the bids of bottom feeders, so your relative profit is going to be a small fraction so maybe 25-50mm. -

I am very compassionate towards letting people play how they want to play, but I do see a small inconsistency here. If the level 7 knows enough that they are looking to buy salvage on the /AH, don't they also know enough that they can sell their salvage on the market as well? In that case, as mentioned earlier, selling two unneeded pieces of salvage should be more than enough to buy the one piece they do need. On a bit of a segue, every once in a while I play a character completely organically without using the /AH at all, and salvage is the main stumbling block. If you are looking for a specific piece, especially if it's orange, it can be a drag to start farming arcane/tech enemies in the hope that your specific piece will drop. This is one case where running AE missions for tickets is very useful. You can trade in tickets for salvage by tiers, so if you want, for example, a luck charm, you swap 8 tickets for a common low arcane salvage and have a 1/6 chance of getting your luck charm. Thanks to math, doing this 4 times gives you roughly a 50-50 shot of getting what you need, and doing it 25 times gives you about a 99% chance. 200 tickets don't take very long to earn at all. -
I think they are pretty different, actually. Dark is more geared towards using control effects as mitigation. Cloak of Fear gives terrify as well as -to hit, and Oppressive Gloom gives low mag stun which neuters minions (or higher if you can stack magnitude). Dark is also VERY endurance intensive, and stacked with Broadsword your endurance is always going to be a concern. Parry is great because it helps sew up your defenses, and your resistances and heals from Dark Armor will be nice. I would definitely work in some -res procs wherever you can. Rad is a more modern set, and covers all the standard bases of defense/resist/heal (although it is also relatively weak on the defense, so parry is good here too). Beta Decay with an Achilles Heel will cover much of your -res needs (remember that proc doesn't stack). Meltdown is probably the most powerful T9 in the armors, but you won't need to slot it for resist thanks to the 75% caps. You also get two AoEs that you can proc out in interesting ways. Rad will be a more "meta" experience, but dark will also be fun.

Clearly, you are using a hypothetical case! psst, it's 100mm now. -

Yomo Kimyata replied to Skyhawke's topic in General Discussion
Or, you could be level 7 and be able to sell some unneeded salvage for higher than "normal" prices, and be able to afford SOs or whatever other salvage or recipes you want. High salvage prices aren't hurting the low level player; they help them since they can now sell it to others at higher prices. Inflation hurts most those who already have the most money in storage, and it benefits those who are earning at market rates. -
Look upon your alts and despair; there is no cure.

I am very much into character immersion and try to match things, including size, with my conception of the character. Unfortunately, this is a case where practicalities get in the way. Very small characters very much annoy me with their field of vision. Very large characters very much annoy me when I do the Faultline arc and I wear the arachnos costume and suddenly block the entire screen. So in general nowadays I'm just going with the standard height in the costume creator.

I haven't checked this recently, but it should still hold. There are people with outstanding offers on common salvage over 10,000; on uncommon salvage over 100,000; and on rare salvage over 1mm. Those offers will stay there until either the seeded amounts get bought, the offers get taken down, or the accounts get deleted. -
