  1. The broadsword/katana debate has been going on for decades. I think the numbers will generally tell you that katana is marginally better in the damage per animation realm, but I don't know if that takes scrapper/stalker crits into account. The real question is do you want to be using two hands, like a wimp, or one hand, like a real woman/man/hugester?! Secondary question, what weapon skins do you prefer? To OP: I'm partial to scrappers nowadays, so that would be my vote. But with stalker and BS/DA, no one is going to see your beautiful sword anyway, so do as you will!
  2. You like me! You really like me!!! Thanks for the nudge, I'll be updating in the "Truly Final" thread!
  3. So far, I've got everybody named and costumed and at least partially leveled. I'm trying to play them in their groups of four so that I get similar experiences, and we're getting there, slowly but surely! Group B is all at level 8 and sitting in the Hollows ready to go through David Wincott's and then Flux's arcs. Punking Frostfire is too much fun to pass up. Group A is all at level 16, and is about to start up Jim Temblor's arc. The whole Faultline arc is great IMO. The "also-rans" are all in the 42-43 range. I've respecced them all at least once (I just played them organically until their 30s, then started to optimize a little more), and they are currently running different story arcs at +3/x5, regular xp. Man, Crey are huge pain in the ass now. I'm trying something a little new here -- no one is going to get patron pools until they ding 50. As a result, they all are in the Body pool with Focused Accuracy and Physical Perfection as I try to figure out how much accuracy and/or endurance I really need. Also, I've been mostly going with Force of Will as the 4th power pool set (along with Fighting, Leaping, Speed) since 1. Unrelentless is a very nice "Oh fudge!" button that is proving more useful than I originally thought; and 2. I really love the free knockdown power in Takeoff, which generally buys me a few seconds while something important refreshes. Activate Mighty Leap, activate Takeoff, deactivate Mighty Leap. It appears to be autohit and knocks down bosses (which is one of the reasons I love knockdown over most traditional mez that is not mag 4 or higher.) I've learned some interesting stuff, or at least I've paid attention to it for the first time. Hopefully soon(tm) I will be able to give an update on the also-rans when I get them all to 50. Happy hunting!
  4. There are plenty of procs that can add mag to a mez effect, and some of them can even be useful! I'd love to see more of this in future sets.
  5. I think it was one or more massive sellers coupled with less buying demand. I don’t think I bought 1mm of them in the mid 50s, but I bought a few hundred thousand.
  6. I think they put a timer restriction on it a while ago.
  7. My typical MO has been: Make a new character and change the costume to "Bare". I always have an idea for powersets but not always for costumes. Run the tutorial for every new alt. I don't know why I do this. Even worse, I will usually get the badge for the starting zone. My rationale is 1. I want the two large inspirations to sell for starting capital; and 2. maybe *this* will be the alt I want to badge on. I realize there are better ways to get those initial badges, but what are you gonna do. 5 minutes? Boom, level 2. For non-gold zoners, I defeat one or more mobs for the AH fees. Gold zone, they give you a pittance of inf after the tutorial. Sell my two starting large inspirations. My initial inf outlay is 15,000 at the P2W -- 10k for Reveal, 5k for the jetpack. I will also get Athletic Run, the free inspiration one, and xp boosters if that's how I'm playing this alt. Then reinvest because I almost always self-fund each new alt. Usually at this point I work on my costume, but sometimes I'll play for a few more levels as a near-nudie running around the starting zone. When I can, I'll pick up Portable Workbench (10mm), Mission Transporter (1mm), Team Transporter (10mm) in that order.
  8. If changes were to be made, these seem reasonable. When I play brutes, I love the idea of continuing the momentum. That said, I wish we would stop the power creep cycle at some point. If something is worse at one aspect but better at another than something else, that's a tradeoff. If something is worse at everything than maybe take a hard look at it. And if something is better at everything, stop being so afraid to pull out the nerf bat. In my opinion.
  9. if this game isn’t your speed, maybe it isn’t for you. I’m not telling you that, I’m just mentioning an option. There’s no shame in that. You don’t have to take my advice. It’s good advice, but if you’d rather shake the cage and try to get the HC team to make your life easier, up to you son.
  10. Your mom! is on the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers and she's doing great!
  11. 1. Axe is a good power set, but War Mace is almost the same set only arguably superior in many ways. I am still waiting for better skins, but right now I'd rather have a War Mace shovel than a Battle Axe shovel. 2. My War Mace/Ninjitsu scrapper is an evil leprechaun. TOTALLY thematic. But I only play him on the High Irish Holidays. 3. True dat. 4. d especially. It's a good way to skip Hasten.
  12. Yes, this is true. Do you have any ideas as to how to get high turnover of people doing so? Because it's a wasteland and it's a shame.
  13. I actually see things from many many vantage points. The advantage, as I see it, is that I've done a pretty good job at identifying what the gates are and trying to break them down so everyone can benefit. If your vantage point is, well, they introduced something new, and I WANT IT, but I don't want it badly enough to do what they want me to do, that's great! That's what makes economics work.
  14. I'm not speaking for either the community or the developers. I will give 20mm inf to any one who asks for it. That's no secret. I have written literally dozens of guides about how to extract inf from the market and I tell anyone who will listen. That is also no secret. There is no gatekeeping here other than you just not giving a rat's ass. Maybe YOU should realize that if you choose not to take the easy path, that the community or the developers are under no obligation to show up on their knees at your doorstep giving you whatever you want for whatever it is you are willing to put into it, which is apparently nothing.
  15. It sounds like both of you might want to find a new game? You both argue that you don't want things to be trivial nor that you are entitled to everything. But it is actually trivial to make items trivial to achieve and you can get everything with almost no effort in this game. That's my opinion, and yours certainly may differ. Maybe I'm playing by a different set of rules?
  16. That's fine, except then you lose the people changing one into the other because why in the world do they need another billion inf? And others who bitch about how pricy things are say in the same breath I don't *WANT* to have to *EARN* inf or grind anything for the things I want. So you get really wide bid offer spreads.
  17. Well, that is between the player and the game. I'm sure you have many things in real life you want but cannot afford. I know I do. I seriously hope you aren't thinking of quitting that game.
  18. What? No, no scrubs allowed! 100bn +!
  19. Surely, at this point you have realized that inflation isn't the problem? The traditional argument against farming is that it adds too much currency to the system, which causes inflation, which penalizes new players at the sake of old players. The problem you have is that the rate of new "stuff" coming into the system, that can be immediately resold or repackaged into something attractive, is growing at a rate faster than the increase in monetary base. That's fine, except then you lose the people changing one into the other because why in the world do they need another billion inf? And others who bitch about how pricy things are say in the same breath I don't *WANT* to have to *EARN* inf or grind anything for the things I want. So you get really wide bid offer spreads. My suggestion would be to: Cut the merit to converter rate from 1:3 to 10:1. Just like live. Give people some real incentive to give back to the market. If a player wants something and it's too expensive? Do without it or craft a plan to get it.
  20. Scrapper. Even if you are teaming with 7x rikti monkeys you will do more damage and survive the same.
  21. They are Roman all over the cavern.
  22. I'd like to remind everyone of two things: 1. If there is a 2% drop rate, you have a 50-50 chance of having had [EDIT: at least] one drop after completing 34 missions. I don't know if you think that is a lot of missions or not, and it certainly isn't a guarantee that one will drop. Or maybe 34 will drop! But I wouldn't count on it. 2. As far as I recall, every method listed in this Guide of Guides still works. You may choose to not use marketing techniques to accumulate inf, as is your right. But it's a heckuva lot faster than farming, taskforces, or even complaining to the devs! Happy hunting!
  23. Hmm, I did not mean to associate "creepy" with that movie, which I think was an important movie. I'm rebranding my request to fighting creepy Uncle Chad Hamidon. I apologize to all the Chads out there.
