  1. I'll be honest. Almost every character I have that hits 35 hits Vanguard first, and then goes redside (if they weren't already) to open patron pools. For me, it's just a free option and I have to fight slightly more difficult enemies for a short time. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out why I would take Mace Mastery. I get Scorpion Shield. It's a defense shield, as opposed to a resistance shield. But other than that, why is my character better off pulling out an Arachnos Mace? This is not a contest, just a legit query.
  2. It's been clear that one or more people have been doing so, but I wouldn't say dumping. Big blocks are coming in, but not at 5 inf prices.
  3. Perhaps, but this effect is most noticeable with warwolves and crey and I don't see it with, say, Council or Carnies, so, hmm?
  4. I suspect that these are the same mobs that, when stunned, wander aimlessly at *extremely* *high* *speeds*.
  5. Volatility and wide spreads benefit the market makers. "For we are the market makers. And we are the dreamer of dreams." -- Willy Wonka (or possibly Yomo)
  6. Mastermind?!? Oh no no no. I'm just a simple businessperson, working on my own, trying to keep everyone (especially myself) happy. *hush up, minions! I'm still on broadcast!*
  7. I do a lot of really nice things, but actually I've never returned inf for a fat finger trade. Lots of other people do. It's partly because I think people should be responsible for their own mistakes, but mainly because most of the time I deal in bulk and at speed and it would be difficult for me to identify the specific lot.
  8. Support? You mean like a dark melee/shield scrapper?!?
  9. If only they would give it to tanks they would double the radius.
  10. gotcha, I used the wrong name, you should have it now.
  11. I'm tracking who got paid already in my edited post above. If I marked you as paid but you didn't get an email, let me know!
  12. This post inspired me. I'm all for trying new stuff, so I wanted to mix up a stunning brute (along with my normal arsenal of fear and knockdown) with an ice melee *without* any of the stupid ugly elemental swords. Some things I learned/discovered: -- I'm not getting nearly as much stun as I anticipated. Minions, sure. But lts and bosses are very uncommon. With Oppressive Gloom (mag 2) at ridiculous accuracy I should be getting 95% of minions and lts every pulse, and statistically I would expect bosses to get stunned more often from the (mag 1) proc disorients I have all over the place in fear and taunt. Some possible explanations: my accuracy in Cloak of Fear isn't high enough; there are so many other types of mez being thrown around (hold, fear, knockdown) that I'm just not seeing it; other. -- I'm certainly going to try this again but with different power mixes and different ATs. Brute (and stalker) benefit from having two spots in the Body epic pool to slot perf shifters though. I generally don't like to "solve" my endurance problems in the post-game of incarnates, but that is the path of least resistance. -- There's a big difference in mitigation between mag 1 stun procs (fear/taunt) and mag 2 stun procs (end mod/immob). Also, stacking stun with immobilize is really helpful, especially with things like Crey who seem to run for the hills when they get stunned. -- I don't usually play far post-50, but I want to try out some things that I've never tried before. Hybrid: Control; some wacky interface ideas. I'll end up with Alpha: Vigor for the accuracy and endurance reduction, but will start with Nerve for T1. Thanks for the inspiration! Stay curious!
  13. Not a serious suggestion, but something I've adapted from my own play. I'm at the point where I embrace "good enough to do the job", so I make my builds to avoid powers that I personally dislike for whatever reason. for example, I'm playing around with Ice Melee, but without the revolting elemental sword nonsense. Some of it works better than others. With respect to Dark Melee, I think that the reworking of Shadow Maul is a pathetic disaster. I hate how the cone went from narrow and deadly to incredibly wide and weak. Every time I used it, I felt like a little kid closing his eyes and flailing at everything in front of him while sobbing. So I don't even take the power anymore, and either stick with single target or find other paths. And it makes me a happier person while maybe, *maybe* reducing my dps slightly. That's a good tradeoff in my book.
  14. Thank you everyone! Happy Year of the Tiger! Theme aside, let's ask what makes Sonic Resonance special when compared to, say, Force Field (which is the closest analogue, but resistance rather than defense)? Both sets protect your pets/teammates with shields and mez protection. Both sets have a "time out" button, and both sets have a "get away" button (on caster for FF, on another for SR). But what distinguishes SR from FF in my mind? Two aspects: the ability to debuff opponents; and the need to have a friendly target. I enjoyed all the submissions, thank you! First, the consolation prizes: 500mm to @roleki (pass)(for making me laugh), @ZorkNemesis (paid), @Luminara (paid), @Ajax (paid), @arcane (paid), @Psyonico (paid), @Dorhain (paid), @Ukase (pass), and @JasperStone (paid). I initially thought that Necro/Sonic MM was going to win, and I went so far as to start one. I figured that I could put the golden hula hoop on one of the melee pets, and put the Sonic Repulsion on the Lich (who I would put on Aggressive Follow?) Then I leveled up to about 18, and realized I really don't like masterminds enough to really dedicate myself to it. Teen Idol is a former Disney popstar who is known for her rabid followers. I'm splitting 1bn between @Redletter (paid) and @723wolf (paid), 500mm a piece. @Nemu (paid), you had me at Whirlwind. 1bn for you and for some good ideas. I had an Earth/Sonic controller (Techtonic Drift, a tech-oriented seismologist) on Live, and it was really a great synergy. Rocky is virtually invulnerable and a good buddy. But I didn't want to remake that. 1bn for @Spaghetti Betty (paid) for coming in with that first. (Grav/Sonic was under consideration, but Singy is already basically invulnerable and there's already too much knockback there.) The grand prize of 2bn is going to @Katharos (paid)! My only quibble is that I'm inclined to make it as a Corruptor rather than a Defender. Despite the weaker buff/debuff numbers, I like the idea of not wasting a pick on Ice Bolt, and maybe get a little scourge love out of the DoT powers. I'm going to go with this through the Coralax pet, but isn't 44 a little late for a pet? So here's where I'm stepping out of the box. I've opened some Winter Packs in my day, and I've got over 1k Build Snow Beast temp powers. Not for long. Introducing Kang Admi, a Nepalese goatherd who was bitten by a radioactive yeti! [EDIT: already taken! Wow! Just Kangmi then!] I'll start out in Praetoria and summon a snow beast for every mission until I run out or get bored! Please let me know if your global name is different from your forum name here, either on this thread or in PM, and I'll send you an email with your well-deserved loot! Happy hunting!
  15. I've been exploring stuns a lot lately, and I'm trying to find a place for this proc in something other than a pure chaos build. Right now, I'm thinking it should go in an AoE power with a chance to stun. I'm thinking maybe Whirling Mace slotted with Stupefy proc, Overwhelming Force Proc (which hopefully changes it to knockdown and adds damage), two lvl 53 Nucleosis, the Absolute Amazement proc and a +5 Absolute Amazement Stun/Endurance. I'll try this out if I think about it later.
  16. That is very nice of you!
  17. Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
  18. If you don't have a soul, you can't owe it to anyone or anything.
  19. This is kind of niche, but out of the melee classes, only brutes and stalkers get Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection from the Body epic pool, meaning that they can achieve a lot more endurance recovery than scrappers or tanks doing the same. With really endurance-intensive matchings, that helps a lot. Well, at least until you unlock incarnates.
  20. Quick! Submit your entry in my contest! Last day!
  21. Fair point. I (mis-)use the term proc to refer to that last IO in the set that isn't solely adding to attributes. I call it a Miracle proc; a LotG proc; a delightful Overwhelming Force proc.
  22. As James Carville would say, "It's the economy, stupid!" But the issue I see is that the haves v. the have-nots now are those with the knowledge and/or inclination to min-max v. others. Yet development continues (mainly, the new difficulty ratings are a welcome exception) on new, more powerful options rather on ways to educate. As I would say, "It's power creep, stupid!" [HOPEFULLY UNNECESSARY DISCLAIMER: I'm not calling anyone stupid. Except possibly *scans crowd slowly, points finger emphatically* YOU!]
  23. I'd say hands down that is the worst proc available. My two biggest marketing failures (and I apologize for repeating myself, since I've mentioned these before): Entropic Chaos. Early on I was enamored by how useful this set was. I decided I was going to corner the market, because this was going to be the be-all end-all. It wasn't that simple to replicate, so I wasn't worried about massive supply entering the market. I neglected to consider two factors: 1. There are very few people who deck themselves out in full sets at lvl 17, and it feels like most people rush to 50 rather than play organically; and 2. Decimation is a superior set that is slottable five levels later. Sad trombone. I did not succeed in making Entropic Chaos a thing, although I'll still slot in on slow levelers. Performance Shifter. When they talked about the new End Mod sets, I was giddy. Every alt needs a Performance Shifter proc! And they are going to be more difficult than ever to create! This is inf in the bank! So I bought thousands of IOs, converted my face off, and waited with anticipation for the release. I managed to get prices about 1mm higher for a week or four, and then supply kept coming in and prices dropped. So I cleaned up that supply and more supply kept coming in and prices dropped. So I walked away for a while and came back and cleaned up the supply and more supply kept coming in and prices dropped. I still am involved in a minor way, but the margin is way too low for me to spend my time there. And to this day I'm not sure if I'm just missing something integral about creating Perf Shifters or if there are simply one or more people who are creating lots of supply for very very thin margins. Shrug.
  24. I saw your post, and I went back in time to write a guide that might help you!
