  1. Corruptor, IMO. Especially if you want to debuff. Blaster will work though, just realize that the Dark Blaster secondary will want you in melee range, and it's all damage with minor debuffs.
  2. Do you have the four auto accolades? Those would be a big help. Invader/Task Force Commander, High Pain Threshold/Freedom Phalanx Reserve, Born in Battle/Portal Jockey, and Marshal/Atlas Medallion?
  3. Just a friendly tip for anyone else that uses Discord via web browser, since Homecoming has a sizeable Discord community. Discord has very recently decided to hide their web browser login button. It's nowhere to be found on their main site, only hidden deep in their support section. You can find it here. Bookmark it if you have not already. I just hope that this doesn't mean that Discord plans to deprecate their web browser version in favor of their clients.
  4. I did not have an Enhancement Diversification complaint thread on my 2024 bingo card. I suppose that that is on me.
  5. Make a second account, make a farmer on said account, get it decked out, and then PL characters on your main account to your heart's content. See this thread for more.
  6. It still boggles my mind that people were so short-sighted to vote against this when Matt Miller brought it up for a vote on the old blue boards of days long gone by. The arguments against it back then were, "There's only one Superman, one Batman, and one Spider-Man." Now in the comic books, there are multiple Supermen, multiple Batmen, and a gazillion Spider-Men. That argument's shot.
  7. The game was pretty decently in chronological order, until Going Rogue/Praetoria hit. After that, the Paragon Studios developers began shoehorning things in all over the place. It would definitely be a good idea to tag at least the Issue 17+ story arcs.
  8. Disable both new character creation on Excelsior and character transfers to Excelsior. But that's a rather drastic option that I'm sure the Homecoming team would much rather avoid.
  9. The communities on the smaller shards have become rather insular over the past few years as only the die hards remained. There's definite activity on all of the shards, but generally within set groups and not for PUGs. The key to this is for you to start groups. If you want to do a TF or SF, start one. If you want to do a mothership raid, start one. If you want to do an iTrial, start one. It may take a little bit, but "if you build it, they will come."
  10. That's a bug with level one characters. Like @lemming said, that can happen after logging a level one character out as well, and then finding the power trays empty after logging back on. It's happened to me in both Breakout and Precinct 5, so tutorial zone or not doesn't matter. It's an annoying little bug that's been in the game since Issue 27, but the powers should still be there, just need to pulled back into the power trays.
  11. Yes, it should be done. All of the PvPers left the Indomitable shard more than two years ago, and the "unofficial PvP server" tag literally frightens some people away from the shard. I've tried talking someone I know to play there, but all he sees is "unofficial PvP server," and won't do it even though I told him that that hasn't been true in over two years. I can't imagine that he's the only one. Rightly or wrongly, PvP has a bad reputation among those who purely play PvE and it does the shard more harm than good at this point, especially when Excelsior is now the unofficial PvP server for all intents and purposes.
  12. By "just opens on the main monitor," do you mean that nothing happens when you open it on the second monitor, or do you get a black screen?
  13. There are two ways to break Crow. @Rudra mentioned one way. I'm guessing you triggered the second way. You started playing Calvin Scott's story arc, which takes place chronologically after Crow dies. So, the game for your character now has Crow as deceased, and you can no longer interact with him as he is invisible to you. Unfortunately, this is a bug that has been in the game since Going Rogue first launched and has never been fixed. It will require GM intervention. When in game, do a /petition and explain that Crow is now dead to you and you can't continue his story arc.
  14. Probably because the Off-Topic forum didn't exist when this thread was originally created.
  15. Okie. This has been primarily an Alienware/Dell issue, but you're the third person I know now to experience the same issue on your own PC build. I'm starting to suspect that it's an issue with some newer graphics cards in general. They don't like OpenGL games. Any OpenGL game played on a secondary monitor (not just City of Heroes), will work fine the first run, but then give a black screen after. Regardless, you have three options: Play City of Heroes on your main monitor. Play City of Heroes on your second monitor, but move it to your main monitor before closing it, and then move it back to your second monitor when you play again. Add the following under the Homecoming Launcher's settings Extra launch paramaters: -gfxreset That last option will make the game reset your graphics every time you launch City of Heroes, and you'll have to redo your graphics settings each and every time you play. That's what I do because I know that I'll forget to move the game to my main monitor before closing it. I've been doing it for two years now, and it's quite annoying. Those are your options until @Number Six or someone else manages to rewrite the game into Vulkan or something other than OpenGL.
  16. Were you playing City of Heroes on a monitor that isn't your main monitor? Do you have an Alienware or Dell PC per chance? In any case, in the Homecoming Launcher, go to options > Homecoming, and check "Reset graphics.". That should do it.
  17. There are various sound effect mods available, including a few for Dual Pistols. This is one example. Doesn't look like there is one for laser pistol sound effects, someone would have to make it. You can find out more about various City of Heroes mods here. -
  18. Under Graphics, go to User Interface, and disable "Automatic UI Scale," then tune "UI Scale" to whatever you'd like. I use 138% for example.
  19. My condolences on your loss. May he rest well.
  20. Controller. Symphony wants to be at range, while Dominator secondary power sets want you in melee.
  21. Yes, you'll need a second e-mail account in order to register a second account. As for Homecoming's multibox policy, read the Code of Conduct.
  22. Theoretically, Tankers do more AoE damage while Brutes do more single target damage. Also, Tankers' threat is a little higher than the Brutes' threat.
  23. The severe lack of a red side population on Homecoming compared to live is down to two things: The ability to create red side AT characters blue side Null the Gull Before, if you wanted to play a Brute, Corruptor, Dominator, Mastermind, or Stalker, you had to play red side. There was no choice. Now there is. With Null the Gull, people can take ten minute trips red side instead of spending a minimum of a week red side. The combination of the two has effectively gutted red side, at least in comparison to live.
  24. You could launch an instanced Rikti mothership raid by yourself and go to town on all of the level 54 mobs outside of the mothership.
  25. Yes, and no. A lot of the Issue 0 contacts are duplicates, and the majority of Issue 0 and Issue 1 content is terrible. The writing in City of Heroes didn't start getting good until Issue 2 with the Hollows, then had a marked improvement with Issue 6 and City of Villains, and then a marked improvement again with Issue 18 and Going Rogue. Everything from Issues 0 and 1 are mostly forgettable "Go to Perez Park and defeat ten Hellions, and then go to Boomtown and defeat ten Trolls," or "Beat Fifth Column The Council in this office building." Once you remove Issues 0 and 1 content, City of Villains has a similar amount.
