PSA: WARNING, DO NOT SAVE KEYBINDS. EVER.
Lunar Ronin replied to BlackSpectre's topic in General Discussion
FWIW, while the new keybinds system does have some issues, the "key profile" setting isn't meaningless. It lets all of my new characters immediately use the Classic profile, instead of defaulting to the Modern profile and having to go change that on every character. -
I took a break from City of Heroes/City of Villains to go play Tabula Rasa in late 2007. I came back to CoH in late 2008 when NC decided to pull the plug on Tabula Rasa. I switched to a different server, and played red side entirely by myself, having fun soloing missions on Masterminds, Brutes, Corruptors, and Stalkers. The ITF came out around the same time, but I just ignored it as I'm not interested in the ancient past and Greece and Rome. (Sorry, it's a personal flaw, I know. I look towards the future.) After a few months of soloing red side, I made some friends. One of them introduced me to (I didn't know this at the time), probably the top speed runner on the server and one of the top speed runners in the game period. He asked me if I wanted to join them on an ITF. Having never done an ITF before, and I mostly played Masterminds, I joined on my main Mastermind at the time. He graciously didn't say anything (although I imagine others on the team were rolling their eyes), and we started. I didn't know it was a speed run, and at the time I didn't really know what speed running was. Well, needless to say... after the ITF was over, I had no idea what had happened and what I just saw. But that speed runner and the others took pity on me and taught me their ways. I went on to speed run quite a bit (although to this day I prefer steamrolling/kill most), along with leading large events on the server. I'm still friends with him and the others today, although he left Homecoming a few years ago as he accomplished quite literally everything there was to accomplish in the game at the time, and then some. He gave me his supergroup base, and everything in it when he left. I felt like Joseph Gordon-Levitt inheriting the Batcave at the end of The Dark Knight Rises. So not all "n00b" mistakes are bad. They're just learning experiences, and opportunities.

Welcome (back?) to Paragon City and the Rogue Isles! Out of curiosity, what processor is your computer using, graphics card (if any), and how much RAM does your computer have? Also, you mention that it doesn't happen as often in instances. Does it happen often in very populated zones, like... say... Atlas Park?

Sometimes I think that a lot of people either forgot or don't know that the game existed before Incarnates for a long time.

Differences between CoH and CoV missions?
Lunar Ronin replied to Hardboiled Hero's topic in General Discussion
Mob spawns are (and have been), the same on both sides. Just the mobs on red side tend to be a little more difficult. Longbow, Arachnos, and Snakes, oh my! -
Closed Beta used to go by Resurgence or Paragon.

Wait. Wait, wait, wait. People are seriously demanding people with both Destiny and Lore Incarnate abilities slotted for the Hero's Epic story arc?!

1. This would be something better asked in the Mids' Reborn Discord server as the developers stated that they don't check the forum any longer. 2. While Mids' Reborn does start several Edge WebView2 processes, my fans are whisper quiet while running Brave Browser, Thunderbird, Signal, Tidal, and Mids' Reborn simultaneously. I suspect that it's something else kicking up your fans. Also as far as requiring 500 MBs of RAM, welcome to 2024 where Windows programs are severely bloated and memory hungry. 16 GBs of RAM barely meets the minimum these days, and rumor is that Microsoft plans to bump Windows 11's minimum specs to 16 GBs of RAM soon. I had to upgrade to 64 GBs of RAM simply because I ran out of memory just using Brave Browser, Thunderbird, Signal, Tidal, Mids' Reborn, and City of Heroes simultaneously. 3. To disable updates, Options > Configuration > Updates & Paths > Automatic Updates. Switch it to "Disabled."

[OPEN BETA] Patch Notes for March 3rd, 2024
Lunar Ronin replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
FWIW, the turnstile is either still broken or disabled on Brainstorm. -
[OPEN BETA] Patch Notes for February 29th, 2024
Lunar Ronin replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
It's both. It works fine on live, but is broken on beta. My guess is that the turnstile is accidentally disabled on Brainstorm, but that's only a guess. -
Also, Homecoming made the Positron TFs (at least Part 1, not sure about Part 2), no longer a signature TF. Meaning that mobs spawn at the level of the team leader, and not the highest level of the TF/SF. Virgil Tarikoss SF is, I believe, a signature SF... meaning that mobs will spawn at the highest level of the SF, regardless of the team leader's level.

Henchmen have pathing issues in the last mission of the Tin Mage TF. Most (if any at all) won't get past the underground doors. This has been an issue since live. The way around it is to release all of your henchmen before entering the mission, and then summon them, equip them, and upgrade them immediately after you get out of the final door.

[OPEN BETA] Patch Notes for February 29th, 2024
Lunar Ronin replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
Confirmed. The LFG queue is busted. Pressing "Queue" will stick for a minute, with a red "Leave queue," but then nothing happens and it goes back to a green "Queue" button. I've tried it with both using it as a teleport to a contact, and for a locked queue into an instanced Rikti mothership raid. Same thing for both. -
PSA: WARNING, DO NOT SAVE KEYBINDS. EVER.
Lunar Ronin replied to BlackSpectre's topic in General Discussion
I've heard similar things, and they're all from players using Tequila or Sweet Tea. If that is the case for you, try the Homecoming Launcher. -
Arachnos Soldiers and Widows...in Praetoria?
Lunar Ronin replied to Ukase's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
FWIW, you can take a HEAT or VEAT character to gold side at level one or two via Pocket D and SG bases, and street sweep and join others' teams. But that'd be pretty boring, and good luck finding a gold side team. But yeah, HEATs and VEATs are limited to starting in their respective side for lore reasons. -
Suggestion: A S.T.A.R.T. power to *reduce* EXP gains?
Lunar Ronin replied to ZorkNemesis's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It mostly does, but as I said above you need to watch it like a hawk and be very, very careful, especially at lower levels. There's no real urgent need for this as a result, it would be just a nice-to-have. -
Email and Global Channels disappear in Base
Lunar Ronin replied to Frozen Burn's topic in Bug Reports
Sounds like you lost connection with the global account server. It happens once in a blue moon, but as long as you got it back after zoning is what matters. -
Doing an instanced mothership raid may help.

Suggestion: A S.T.A.R.T. power to *reduce* EXP gains?
Lunar Ronin replied to ZorkNemesis's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm leveling a Praetorian completionist character currently in Imperial City on the Indomitable shard as well. Yeah, the double XP boost is a bit of a hassle. I'm just watching my XP like a hawk and very, very carefully disabling it every few levels. I still wouldn't say no to a half-XP power however. -
Options > Controls > Mouse > "Free Camera Movement" Set it to Disabled.

It's been stated on the Homecoming Discord that this is a bug with a fix in the pipeline. Heroes and Vigilantes are not meant to be able to access the story arcs via Ouroboros.
-
I think Discord works well for small groups, but it really is horrible for large groups (500+ or more, or Heaven forbid 5,000+). However, Discord has sadly become effectively mandatory for PC online gaming these days, and more and more games are forgoing web forums and wikis entirely for Discord. Only to eventually regret it later when their Discord account is hacked or banned, and/or the Discord server is hacked and deleted, (which has happened quite a few times that I'm aware of). But I digress. As far as City of Heroes is concerned, I'm in the Homecoming, Rebirth, Mids' Reborn, and OuroDev Discord servers, two other Homecoming-related Discord servers, a Discord server for the server I played on back on live, a server for the two supergroups I was part of back on live, and now the Steady Indomitable Discord server. Ye gads, that's a lot of CoH-related Discord servers. Text only though, I don't do voice unless absolutely necessary, and there's not a single thing in City of Heroes that requires voice.

Farming vs whatever for fast inf building
Lunar Ronin replied to BigKahuna337's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, that's a vestigial of old MMORPG design. More modern MMORPGs like Elder Scrolls Online and Guild Wars 2 let you belong to multiple guilds simultaneously, account-wide. It's quite nice. Now if only they weren't fantasy genre... -
Does the Celerity +Stealth IO stack with Shadowfall / Steamy Mist?
Lunar Ronin replied to Story Archer's topic in Defender
Removing the stacking of +stealth powers was a silly change made against how the game worked for eighteen years prior, all in a futile attempt to curb advanced mode speed running. All that happened is that advanced mode speed running teams started demanding that people start taking Stealth (the power), and/or a tier 4 Incandescent Radial Destiny which does stack +stealth. But I digress.
