This tank had a complete character. Complete with attacks, toggles, no travel power, did have epic pool. Just never used any of it, only an occasional thunderclap

I found a City of Heroes streamer and though this could be fun. They are on HC, but i don't know which server and I don't think I wanna know. I think they are a sg of farmers, facing the big bad outside for the first time. Got a 8 team and decided to do a Penelope Yin taskforce, they must have spent 10 minutes in Faultline. Eventually they got to IP and off they were running. Team was 3 Tanks, PB, Corr, Scrapper, Controller, blaster. I was dozing off when loud noise from the tv woke me. I couldn't believe it, 20 minutes into the first cave and they had wiped. At first I couldn't believe it, then I got curious, so I got all the way woke and started watching. The streamer was playing one of the 3 tanks and nears as I can tell, he was a stone/elec, that only used taunt, because he believed his damage numbers sucked. I really don't know what the troller, blaster and scrap were doing, but after around an hour they finished the task force. There were a few more defeats, but no more wipes and I don't think they were at +4/8x. I'm not going to name the stream, because that would be mean, but I subscribed and will keep on watching because they make me feel good about myself.

Redside... Best side? Right??
Lusiphur Malache replied to Dev Unitas's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Apologies if I'm biting somebody's idea because I'm late to the thread. Redside lost its' purpose when they lost AT exclusivity. I don't want to force players to redside, but to get the most out of your redside AT, need to influence players to stay red. Storytelling fix is that contacts won't trust rogues and vigilantes so you lose all your contacts and new contacts only give you missions that move you back to red or blue. Slight influence and xp penalty to teams that include rogues and vigilantes. Moderate influence and xp penalties to all rogue and/or vigilante teams. Put more elevators in Mercy and Port Oakes. Jetpacks help, but when it is running low and you have to get over that tall ass wall, an elevator nearby would be great. Give Villains a chance to do real evil. Make some bank robberies instances, give heroes in the zone an alert that a robbery is happening. If they stop the robbery, all is good, but if they don't influence is halved for a day. Let meaningful npcs be kidnapped, if I was part of the crew that grabbed Blue Steel, I'm going to let everybody know. -
If you wanted new powers what would it be?
Lusiphur Malache replied to darcstarmerc's topic in General Discussion
I put this in Suggestion and Feedback while back, but I still think it is a good idea, just needs some work from others. Would make a interesting Goldside EAT. Mimicry T1: Borrow Melee attack - Scan a melee AT and borrow an attack for 15 minutes T2: Borrow Ranged attack - Scan a Ranged AT and borrow an attack for 15 minutes T3: Refresh - Clock start over for your borrowed powers T4: Borrow Ranged attack - Scan a ranged AT and borrow an attack for 30 minutes T5: Borrow Melee attack - Scan a melee AT and borrow an attack for 30 minutes T6: Duplicate - Copy all the primary powers of any blaster or scrapper T7: Permanence - Keep all your borrowed powers for good T8: Wipe - Get rid of all your borrowed powers T9: TBD - Teleport to an ally and borrow a random attack power Mimicry Defence T1: Borrow Defence - Borrow a defence power for 15 minutes T2: Borrow Damage Resistance - Borrow a damage resistance power for 15 minutes T3: Borrow Taunt - Borrow a taunt aura for 15 minutes T4: Borrow Damage Resistance - Borrow a damage resistance power for 30 minutes T5: Borrow Defence - Borrow a defence power for 30 minutes T6: Refresh - Clock start over for your borrowed powers T7: Permanence - Keep all your borrowed powers for good T8: Wipe - Get rid of all your borrowed powers T9: TBD - Teleport to an ally and borrow a random defence power -
Help me settle on some things with a new character

Be careful what you wish for. Gotta a stalker that in a certain costume, on a particular map I can't see. Makes doing my job difficult. -
Help me settle on some things with a new character
Lusiphur Malache replied to Photon's topic in General Discussion
I personally like the yellow with the horns, so much that I'm probably gonna bite it next time a blade needs a new costume. Ninjitsu and Willpower are both good set, used them both, but for look I think Dark Armor needs some consideration. -
By level 12 a Tell/Fire offender would have access to Mega Mudball, Wall of Stone and at least 3 fire attacks including Rain of Fire, that is a lot of not getting nearby and even more dot. It is from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - The Laughing Man. The character's name is taken from the title of J. D. Salinger's short story, The Laughing Man. The Laughing Man logo is an animated image of a smiling figure wearing a cap, with circling text quoting a line from Salinger's novel The Catcher in the Rye, which reads: "I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes."

How about a left-arm version of Hardened Carapace?
Lusiphur Malache replied to temnix's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
On the City of Heroes mod there is a mod that removes bio armor, so if you can't have a symmetric armor, you can have no armor. -
I like the time and effort you put into this and I'd give it a go if it was available, BUT this is going to be paired with something. I'm thinking a Tell/Fire defender doesn't need anyone else or Cat Five and Wall of Stone wait a couple of minutes or until nothing is standing, rinse and repeat. I like to see a couple garbage powers swapped in that nobody in their right mind would pick. I love the Boulder of Doom

staff, Katana, and 2 blade.. 3 different AT's
Lusiphur Malache replied to Hardboiled Hero's topic in Archetypes
The dual blade/electric is much older and i'm comfortable with it. I doubt I'll play either much after I get the katana fixed and T4d but that might take a lot of testing and maybe 50 million. The Katana is an interesting weapon, doesn't hit hard, but I rarely miss and I can swing forever. -
I take pleasure in respecing. Every build gets 3 mandatory respecs at 21, 36, and 50, usually I'll do another just before I equip my last T4. All my semi-retired builds get used a couple times a month just to get the rust and dust off. Occasionally a friend will need help, usually random, but sometimes specific and if that toon has a hole that a patch will fix, I'll do another respec. I got a katana/electric brute that I must have been drunk every time I added slots or enhancements. That respec may be an undertaking of massive proportions that might not be worth it as I already have a db/electric brute that works great.

I had left CoH before issue 21. First day on Homecoming made a character and wanted to start in Galaxy City. When i didn't get that option thought something was wrong with my install. Deleted, reinstalled, recreated at least 3x before I googled galaxy city and found out the horrible news.
-
I made several characters from that list because they weren't popular. A km/regen scrapper, was no fun before I flipped my attack chain and started with those long animation heavy hitting powers. Dark/Poison controller, first controller and it was quite a slog because of my inexperience. Don't know how many teammates told me not to use my rez on them. Got both a uniform peacebringer and warshade, so don't let anyone tell you it can't be done.

staff, Katana, and 2 blade.. 3 different AT's
Lusiphur Malache replied to Hardboiled Hero's topic in Archetypes
I have a staff/bio scrapper because you can never have too many toggles. My katana/electric brute seems very underwhelming because of my alcohol fueled slotting, probably going to do a total rebuild next time i tap my other builds for funds. Don't have a stalker that uses a blade, but I do have a dual blade/electric brute that is a joy to play. -
Build help - Question updated
Lusiphur Malache replied to xhaledk's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
First off, don't slot more than 3 of the same enhancement in any power, that is a waste. Only 4 ranged attacks is nowhere near enough and lack of a melee attack is reckless. -
I've noticed that most of my builds are very opposite of their intended use. All my defenders play as offenders, corrupters as defenders. My peacebringer is uniform, so is my warshade. As long as the orange numbers are bigger and more of them, I consider it a success. Thanks @JJDrakkenI took some ideas from your build, definite improvement.

I probably should have a spreadsheet for all my toons, but I find that sounds like too much work. Theory crafting in Mids looks like a crapshoot until you punch a mob in the face. I've used the beta server on occasion, it serves my purpose nicely
-
I have a dark/poison controller with Umbra Beast named Lifesaver. Yeah that is her job, I'd slot her better if it was necessary, but as the toon is semi-retired there is no need. Got a couple IO immobilize, 2 IO fears, an IO accuracy and a Blood Mandate accuracy that I don't know where it came from.

My current project is a Pain/Earth defender. First 10 levels went by and I had no clue where I was going with this character, defender, offender, or something in-between. Next 10 I did a lot of experimenting. Took powers I knew little about or slotted known powers in a different way. Found out quite a bit in the 20s. Don't like Enforced Morale, really liked Shared Pain. Finally found a direction and formulated a plan in the 30s thankfully, did this toon's first ITF, unlocked Patron pool and now am sitting at level 38 and know where I'm going, I think. tl,dr; When do you normally know where you are going with a toon? Right from the start (aren't you special)? 20s, 30s, 40s? or wherever you are at 50 is it? Let me and others know, so I can feel great shame or joy.
-
This is a common misconception. Most of my blasters do start as ranged, but only until I can get enough health and damage resist up to get in close and use secondaries alongside primaries.
-
My 5 are going to be all over the place. 1 Kiasma - dark/martial blaster come for the Ki Push, leave cause you must, but Snipe still gonna get you. Ranged, melee all you see is orange numbers. 2 Mayday Widow - A Fortunata that likes to get up close. 3 Zap of Time - elec/time controller keeps you right where you are and pummels you into submission with time as you stand there and take it because you have no endurance. 4 A Cut Below - katana/elec brute chaos personified 5 Da Solution - dual blade/nin stalker only died because teammates were too busy watching me work, so much style.
-
Got to checking old semi-retired characters and stumbled across my street justice/super reflexes stalker there defense numbers were okay, nothing great, but then I noticed I had another toon, a psi/nrg stalker that I have no recollection making or had played in the last 6 months. Their defense numbers were amazing, way over softcap across the board except for psi. Played very different from my other stalkers in that I could kill one mob with assassin's strike, wait for it to recharge and kill another, wait for it to recharge and kill another. No red numbers or very few. I have a newfound respect for defense now and how it changes playstyle.
-
Of that list the only one I have is Super Reflexes, can't remember which AT though. Thinking it is either Stalker or Brute, anyway that toon is semi-retired so I'll be making something new. Thanks for the knowledge.
-
I've not given a thought to defense in any of my builds, not even tanks. If I have a decent defense it ain't because of something I did. I know there are high defense powersets, what AT takes advantage of them? Be nice for a change to not get hit or have to rely on dam resist or regen to survive.

How much in game currency do you have on hand.
Lusiphur Malache replied to Monty Haull's topic in General Discussion
300 million give or take a few million across all my toons. Somebody gave me $10 million when I was new to Homecoming and I shit you not had a hard time wanting to fight crime for a week.
