  1. People don't owe other players originality. They are welcome to be as creative or not creative as they want to be, your expectations aside. This type of fear being spread is neither healthy, practical, nor based in any existing precedents. If NCSoft does come for us, it won't be because of this. So please stop using that baseless fear as a means of attempted control of others.
  2. Thank you for this. I don't have any good ideas yet, most of them I don't even like. But I will be thinking about it over the next few days and will post anything decent I can come up with.
  3. I have some corruptors and dominators that would beg to differ about end not being an issue, even with perma-dom on the dominator. Every character I have runs minimum 2-3 def/res toggles, including the squishies. I've found that toggles take a lot of end, but not near as much compared to the amount of attacks you perform. But the bigger issue I see here, is the underperformance of the build; you need too many attacks to make a kill and have too much recharge with them. Looking at the build provided, there needs to be more damage/acc so the attacks you make actually perform well, versus the endred/recharge they have now. You don't slot for recharge when you're having end issue normally, it exacerbates it. That's one reason taking hasten at an early level can put you right into end issues almost immediately. Take the advice here, reslot your powers and drop those excessive toggles, these folks know what they are saying.
  4. I much prefer the villainous AT's in most respects. I just don't tend to play them redside anymore. And that's a shame, I used to love redside quite a bit, but blueside just has more to offer.
  5. I played a SS/Elec Brute for years, and a SS/Fire for years before that. While I was never significantly bothered by the -def then, and wouldn't be probably now, I see where it's a big issue for other builds with it. And as noted, the entire set is based around Rage it seems, as plenty of the attacks actually underperform otherwise (especially high end as s/l). Simply put, Rage is one of if not *the* defining power in SS. And right now it's broken for many defensive sets, not just not working correctly, but actively works against your build. I'm in solidarity with the people asking for a change to it.
  6. Hahah, good stuff OP. You and I know it won't change a damned thing, but I'm with you. I just really appreciate what we have now; I missed it more than I even realized.
  7. I'd like to know how this works out too. I was very tempted to run a Beam/Time, Beam/Poison, or Beam/Traps for AV killin.
  8. Hey there, I think the reddit thread I linked is more confrontational than I'd like it to be, and I certainly don't want to stir up anything -- I really just want to know if this is never going to happen, and if it's not, I assume the HC folks have a good reason for that. Because to my layperson reading, I can't see any risk in it? Looks like all upside for everybody. No worries man. That last line is just something I grew up hearing, knowing it meant, "Do this or consequences will follow." I really mean good luck to you, I think this is a solid idea.
  9. I am definitely not against this, I do like the idea quite a bit. I don't know if it will be well received, especially given the imperative nature of the closing sentence. Good luck man.
  10. I haven't seen any of this. Admittedly I run with a fairly tight group of friends, so maybe I wouldn't. But I've done TF, respecs, and even failed a respec trial where noone got mad or personal. So I just don't know man. I hesitate to say it isn't really that bad because I don't know, but I'd like to think we aren't.
  11. I don't care for thorns personally, just never liked it. Energy is great single target damage, similar to elec, with a slight bit of AOE. They would both be fine I'd imagine. However I would not depend on FF IOs for permadom. Early levels they will help you get there, but they are really inconsistent and depend on you activating those powers and proccing with them quite often. They won't help you build dom or keep it going outside of fights, so it's best to permadom another way and use those to give you more cushion. Just my two cents. I've build quite a few plant doms over the years, and my favorites are probably plant/stone and plant/ma, but both tend toward being in melee often. Plant/psi in the old days was pretty effective. I'd like to say good things about savagery, but man it just doesn't play too well.
  12. I seem to recall that DB was quite good later on, given a good infusion of IO's as the above poster suggested. I think the utility of combos was nothing I ever got tired of personally. I'll also second Staff Fighting. I have a SF/RA brute that's currently doing very well, tons of fun to play. I have three single target attacks and three cone/aoe attacks, and have little problem beating down bosses. Again like DB, it's the utility of the forms and combos I really like about the set. Don't be a afraid to try it, hardest part is finding a staff to fit the build (big magic mech needed a big magic staff).
  13. I'm not really a fan of either. It's a throwback to an old and humorous thread from the forums.
  14. No slots or sets put in it yet. Right now I'm using 5 slotted Posi's Blast in the target AOES, 4 slotted Basilisk's Gaze in the hold, 5 slotted Malaise in the confuse, 3 LoTG +rech in defenses, steadfast +def and KB in tough, celerity +stealth in sprint, and frankenslotted the pbaoes until 50 and I can find better sets. I've also got Force Feedback +rech in Dragon's Tail and Spinning Kick, they help at early levels to give a buffer for perma-dom. I'll update toward the weekend when I have time to work on it more. 15. I was curious about that as well, so very nice to know. I may mess around with Masterful Throw as well, I'm very on the fence with keeping Caltrops right now.
  16. I am guessing because spines has more outright AOE, rather than AOE dependent on targets contaminated. I'm not sure on that, I haven't played Rad/ to compare really. I have played more Spines throughout the original game to get a bit tired of it, so I will suggest Staff Fighting if you want an alternative. But really, play what you want to play. You can always be pretty and strong with Energy Armor and War Mace.
  17. I don't DFB or DiB, but I don't want to see them limited at all. There will always be players that got PL'd to their level, or are playing their cousin's account, that have no clue about the overall mechanics of the game or slotting or any of that. Always, no matter what you attempt to limit or discourage. So please do not use them as scapegoat for restricting playstyles. Either teach them what they need to know, or leave it for someone else.
  18. 1) Some things may be easier, but I doubt a whole lot will be significant. I'd say blueside would be your best bet. 2) Scrapper, always. Tank may be more survivable, there's no doubt about that, but it's significantly boring to play solo. Scrapper gets the edge in taking things out quickly and being quite survivable. But have you considered a brute? I'd take the brute version over both the scrapper and tanker personally.
  19. Marvel's 2003 series Supreme Power has shades of that. That was such a good run.
  20. May well be Dskero. This one was a costume contest for an upcoming cover, I think there were 6-10 winners who were all on the cover together. This was shortly after COV came out, and they may or may not have all been villainous for that matter.
  21. My wife was one of those, her character Graz'zt made it it on the cover with several other people in the same contest. We do keep the copy of the comic we got, but no clue where to find it in the house after a few moves. She's doing quite well, but busy enough to not have much time for the game anymore. If anyone does find a scan of the old cover, let me know. I'd love to surprise her with it but my searchfu isn't strong today.
  22. I skipped Thunder Kick, and I think the snipe shuriken. I have really debated skipping out on caltrops too, just don't seem to use it as much as I'd thought compared to say Sleet from EPPs. I've considered switching around the last two, explosive shuriken and snipe, but I think for my style the explosive will still be the better.
  23. I made a build over the weekend but didn't quite get around to slotting it in Pine's. I'll try to link it up when I get home. Currently at 41 and it's a beast of character.
  24. That's a very interesting Dominator build. 😁 Heh, thanks. I was getting on near closing time, and I got switched channels somehow. I would play a /rad armor Dom though :)
