  1. I've really had a lot of fun with my Sav/Shield stalker who's been tricked out to have three "attack teleport" powers*, which I think I use for something like two-thirds of my attack chain. I think it's really cool to target some guy up on that catwalk over there and - hey presto! - I'm hitting him without all that "trying to jump/fly up there and worrying about overshooting, did I land right," work. I don't have a main, I have a few main-ish toons - and he's one of them. OTOH, he does for the most part wear a goofy costume based on the cartoon character Pink Panther, so maybe it's a wash. *Savage Leap, Shield Charge, Spring Attack
  2. I'd throw in stalkers as well for consideration, because the whole "walking around without being seen" thing is pretty helpful at the beginning. Stalker was the first AT I really "got" when I was starting this game.
  3. Yeah, /jranger from me too. I've actually been contemplating a "lions only" MM build, sad as that sounds, because I don't give a fig for wolves.
  4. Even if they don't respawn, you're being a $@#&! if you walk away from spawned snow beasts. Especially if you're a fifty in a lower zone. So yeah, it's a Snarky thing to do. 😄
  5. I was logged in for a bit this morning and saw nothing about it anywhere, other than the snow which has been falling for what a week now?
  6. Or did I miss something? I would have thought it would all go up on Tuesday, today. Has it all be available since the snow hit Atlas and just no one's talking about it in-game? ... Uh, not that I care that much, I mean, it's no Halloween, which is clearly the best holiday event...
  7. Ain't it just the way?
  8. I couldn't seem to find the option in there. It's also possible MIDS isn't updating for the super-latest build anyway. When I click it I get some kind of error message and click "install anyway" (or whatever it says), it does and restarts, but still no obvious option in the window about database swapping. Fortunately I'm not seeing holes pop up in builds I open, so I guess I can get by with it as-is. 😃
  9. The thread about it's two years old now, that counts for something! The stalker worked out just fine, but I wouldn't chasing that fun again from a different angle.
  10. Is that your Scrappy Dom of myth and legend? I believe I grabbed that build and took it to 30th or so but got distracted and never got back to it. I may have to go pick him back up and give him a fresh chance.
  11. CT doesn't do damage, iirc (so many names to remember here), and I do sometimes still end up with no bamfs to bamf and have to resort to primary attack powers like AS, heavy sigh. If that's true about a Dom, then one could practically do nothing else, although that might be boring to play. Maybe drop Soul Extraction between, maybe a Dom group hold or something. I'll have to look into that.
  12. For Christmas, generally it's just a themed costume on whomever I'm running at the time, but I did make one guy named something like Pagan Holiday that I tried to cover all the bases with, but I don't think he got past like level 20. I do have a lot of Halloween-ish toons though.
  13. I've tried to use it and like it, but always get rid of it after about four uses, it looks janky to my eyes.
  14. Looking into it, I haven't run either set yet and I like the feel of the character, so that's what I'm gonna make next.
  15. I've run across both Monty and Captain Canada, yeah, they're A+ in my book.
  16. Funny timing! I just about burnt myself out playing League TPer for Monster Scouting in PI during Halloween (the Pink Bamfper says hi by the way), and that combined with a busy RL has kept me mostly away from the game for the past few weeks. This morning though, got to play for about half an hour, and just a radio team in Brickstown... And it was a lot of fun! It was really nice to see the city again, see what sorta costumes other people had, etc. There's that comfy ew Then on top of that, I feel like I've found my new project toon to start planning out a bit. That's always a draw: the concept starts to coalesce, I think about various power pools I might want, costume parts to match the concept, etc. I've always said this game is like being able to design your bespoke action figures then getting to play with them, and here I am planning another. That's what keeps me playing, I haven't burned out yet. As for the other stuff: I didn't move to another MMO. It's hypocritical of me, but I generally find all video gaming a waste of time, I'd rather watch a good film, read a good book, pet my cats... but damned if I can quit this game.
  17. Huh, this has put me in mind for a Tuatha-based toon (you know, as a reindeer). No idea what that would be, Savage Melee something maybe?
  18. I believe I heard they can (and have), but it's not easy, and it doesn't always end up 'looking right', so it's kind of "sometimes yes, sometimes no."
  19. Have to admit that I also sorta feel like this. Like it has to mean a bit more than the others. If nothing else, we already have a number of "just because" invasions. Make these do something extra or get triggered by something special. Or maybe unlock a story arc or something after you get the badges from it, etc.
  20. Even thjough this game is now free, MMOs are designed with something of a steep learning curve to encourage players to stick around while they learn and master its intricacies. For example, this is also why we have many, many forms of currencies in the game and (for the most part) a damage IO set isn't just "damage" but "ranged damage", "AoE damage," Melee AoE damage," etc. Complexity! (imagine Spongebob making that rainbow hand gesture) Any poking about on the forums or asking in the General channel inside the game should be able to give a new player a rough idea on where to start (and hey, often players will buy and give you the IO or two to slot too if you seem confused). Leveling End can be a problem, and I've had to learn to pick and choose a bit, like "don't run Tough and Weave yet, even if I have them." But I've also had toons that due to their build or slotting, pretty much NEVER presented me with an End problem. It can be done, and probably with whatever you're running right now! Don't give up! Stick with it and you'll do just fine I'm sure. We've lived with End like this for ages now, it'll work out.
  21. >>>>>>CLICK HERE NOW!!!!<<<<<<<< Be envy of all Paragon City and Islands Of The Villain!
  22. ...And the rest are crying in the green room about not making it to regionals again this year.
  23. It long predates Lucas in sci-fi, because big clean white rooms are often used - or at least "were used" - to indicate some kind of futurism, think 2001 and the original Doctor Who TARDIS control room (there's probably lots of other examples if you look around too; the clip of the Hitchhiker's Guide movie on the first page has a lot f that too).
  24. Drainers will always be a problem. Me, I'd say if you have SR you're not going to need Tough and Weave anyway. I often end up finding those "Hope Diamonds"* in a build and often can't run them for like half the leveling life of the toon, so these days I work them OUT of a build. If you're in your 40s by now, then some slotting problem would be my guess too, like you need the Miracle: +Health/End. You could swap secondaries, but I really don't think you'll need to. You might trawl through the stalker forums here looking for builds you can emulate or lift ideas for slotting from. My main from live was an SR and following a pretty cheapo build (like I could afford to IO out a toon back in those days!), and I don't recall he ever had any real problems. Slot Endurance Reduction! 😃 *You don't hear much talk about it these days, but the Hope Diamond supposedly had a curse pon it that brought misfortune and tragedy to anyone who owned it.
