Yeah, I've won a couple and lost some where I just think "... the hell???" I have seen a few with costumes in them that seriously blew me away too. At this point I've learned to not like try to get into such a contest because that gets me geared up about doing well, and there's nothing worse than walking home without a second glance after that*. I just hop by one if I happen to be in Atlas and hear the announcement, which fortunately isn't often as sooner or later I'm bound to explode after losing another one to (I kid you not) another "undead Elvis-looking guy" or something. *Worst example: big Halloween contest, had set categories for "spookiest," "most beautiful," "most frightening," and another one like that, buuuuut... I'd gone in what was arguably a sort of kitsch or perhaps humor-category costume (that had won other contests!), so I was shut out completely. I wasn't the only one there to feel this way although I didn't bother speaking up like they did. And yes I still think about this because it still annoys!!

They could have posted an announcement weeks ago, "it all goes live on Dec XXth".

I have a Martial that was, I think Psy too? He was OK, but never really felt like he was "singing" to me. For some reason I've run a lot of Sav toons lately, so I've got a pretty good feel for it and obviously I wouldn't be playing it if I didn't care for it, so I'd say go that way, of the two. The Savage Leap combat TP power is indeed a lot of fun, and being a Dom with, presumably, perma-Dom, you get to use it an awful lot.

I'm fighting with MIDS atm to update, so it won't open this build, oh well. Trying to do as little as possible else other than BAMFing about is admittedly a stunt build. I've just reworked the Dom build mentioned above and while it doesn't bamf as much, it does become a much more in your face play style than I might have gone for with a DOM - I'm generally using the BAMFs to show up in a group's face and then confuse with with Artic Air, an Ice Slick, some AoE, it's still fun to not have to run to every target. Racing your Ball Lightning does sound like fun, and you can boast "I'm faster than lighting!"

I didn't see it at first. What I saw was snow in Atlas. I didn't see any presents at the time either. Listen y'all, I know we like aurguing on the forums and lots of people to jump on "were was thew announcement?" posts, but a simple even-just two sentence forum post "it's open!", is that really such a ridiculous ask?

Yeah, I tend to be a kind of haphazard player (don't tell anyone!) but I've rarely eaten carpet on this guy; I even tanked a few times and in SBB. Even though the AoEs aren't even like monster numbers, they sure are damn flashy numbers to pull out! I generally avoid purples and super-overcharged-IOs at +5 and all that, so the build might be given more weight with such. I am curious how yours solos, as I generally PUG.

There's always some kind of path note explanation when stuff changes. Announcing "Christmas is live" is part of the signal to players that this stuff is available again, that's all. I mean, if you're ok with them rolling out anything as if it's an embarrassing redheaded stepchild they'd rather not comment on at all and sort of pretend doesn't exist, that's your choice I guess, but it seems weirdly out of character.

Not everyone lives on Discord. I'm not saying it wasn't started, I was just saying I didn't see anyone doing it; the rest is speculation.

I recall once seeing an annoying 50 leaving spawned snow beasts all over Sharkhead. That was on Live. I do think I've seen similar since though.

I've really had a lot of fun with my Sav/Shield stalker who's been tricked out to have three "attack teleport" powers*, which I think I use for something like two-thirds of my attack chain. I think it's really cool to target some guy up on that catwalk over there and - hey presto! - I'm hitting him without all that "trying to jump/fly up there and worrying about overshooting, did I land right," work. I don't have a main, I have a few main-ish toons - and he's one of them. OTOH, he does for the most part wear a goofy costume based on the cartoon character Pink Panther, so maybe it's a wash. *Savage Leap, Shield Charge, Spring Attack

I'd throw in stalkers as well for consideration, because the whole "walking around without being seen" thing is pretty helpful at the beginning. Stalker was the first AT I really "got" when I was starting this game.

Yeah, /jranger from me too. I've actually been contemplating a "lions only" MM build, sad as that sounds, because I don't give a fig for wolves.

Even if they don't respawn, you're being a $@#&! if you walk away from spawned snow beasts. Especially if you're a fifty in a lower zone. So yeah, it's a Snarky thing to do. 😄

I was logged in for a bit this morning and saw nothing about it anywhere, other than the snow which has been falling for what a week now?

Or did I miss something? I would have thought it would all go up on Tuesday, today. Has it all be available since the snow hit Atlas and just no one's talking about it in-game? ... Uh, not that I care that much, I mean, it's no Halloween, which is clearly the best holiday event...

I couldn't seem to find the option in there. It's also possible MIDS isn't updating for the super-latest build anyway. When I click it I get some kind of error message and click "install anyway" (or whatever it says), it does and restarts, but still no obvious option in the window about database swapping. Fortunately I'm not seeing holes pop up in builds I open, so I guess I can get by with it as-is. 😃

The thread about it's two years old now, that counts for something! The stalker worked out just fine, but I wouldn't chasing that fun again from a different angle.

Is that your Scrappy Dom of myth and legend? I believe I grabbed that build and took it to 30th or so but got distracted and never got back to it. I may have to go pick him back up and give him a fresh chance.

CT doesn't do damage, iirc (so many names to remember here), and I do sometimes still end up with no bamfs to bamf and have to resort to primary attack powers like AS, heavy sigh. If that's true about a Dom, then one could practically do nothing else, although that might be boring to play. Maybe drop Soul Extraction between, maybe a Dom group hold or something. I'll have to look into that.

For Christmas, generally it's just a themed costume on whomever I'm running at the time, but I did make one guy named something like Pagan Holiday that I tried to cover all the bases with, but I don't think he got past like level 20. I do have a lot of Halloween-ish toons though.

I've tried to use it and like it, but always get rid of it after about four uses, it looks janky to my eyes.

Looking into it, I haven't run either set yet and I like the feel of the character, so that's what I'm gonna make next.
