Balance issues and AT/Powerset suggestions are not gimmes. Some balance proposals do border on gimmeism, but by and large they are about bringing underperforming sets to the average rather than making them OP... -

Some Tweaks to Give Trick Arrow a Point

Looking at the current state of affairs, the high DPS sets are Storm and Traps, and Trick Arrow leans to that end of the spectrum (although a match would help). It is one of the most AoE oriented of the sets out there. It is more moderate on control, moderate/high on debuff, and low on buff. Is this where it should be? -

Where do all y'all think trick arrow should sit in the spectrum of support sets... on the dps end or on the support end of the spectrum? on the single target or multiple target end of the spectrum? on the buff or control end of the spectrum? Defining perceptions of what ought to be may allow us to come to consensus about how it ought to change. My perception is that it ought to be near the middle of the dps/support spectrum, leaning towards dps. It should be on the single target end of the spectrum. And it should be on the control end of the spectrum, but not all the way. -
Based on the theory behind the adjustments, that is correct.

I understand that, but the concept is that they are much slower, thus -Spd, -Rchg... the animation times are a matter of practicality, not in-game "reality"

F=ma... Increasing mass does increase force, but the acceleration decrease is more significant, thus resulting in less force.

I can't speak for this proposal, but my proposal was utilizing underused powersets with speed as an inherent to make them work by allowing players to use positioning for defensive purposes.

I would suggest something similar to what they did with the Arachnos; offer two paths. You start as a Rikti Conscript, and then choose to take the path of the Mesmerist/Priest or the Soldier/Communications Officer. That would provide a variety of builds while also being sufficiently limiting. Edit: I added this EAT to the AT Compilation thread.

Just for reference, a lot of this thread is going back to my original thread: Zoomer (19.07.25.22.56.xx) Manipulation/Assault Zoom: Personal +SPD for ranged, enemy -SPD for melee, and increased speed cap. Zoomers offer the feel of playing a speedster while providing access to two AT-specific power sets that are versatile an fun. This addressed the issues of making the feel of a speedster by increasing the base speed and speed cap, and adding ±Spd procs to attacks. This allowed greater freedom of movement while decreasing the speed of enemies allowed you to feel even more relatively fast. Thinking back I might remove the +Spd, and put a -Spd/-Rchg aura that tics fairly rapidly, is non-stacking, and has a 10-15s duration. (holes in the Manipulation sets caused by crossover would be filled with control or support powers). I think this offers a more practical and playable solution that provides a variety of player choices rather than relying on a one-trick pony playstyle mechanic.

There will be so many power conflicts that even if there was some way to do this in a reasonable manner that it would have so many exclusions that it would be insane...

Maybe double check that the animations do not have you holding the blade while shooting, that would be painful...

Alright, I was in the other recent Assault suggestion, and I was thinking about how handedness would make it difficult to do a left-handed sword and a right-handed pistol (having the sword in the right makes porting single-handed attacks much easier, and pistol attacks could be ported from dual pistols (although it may look silly with a sword pointing upward in one hand). Then I thought about the Wilkes - South Seas Expedition... they used pistol swords in their skirmishes with Fijians. So I thought, we have dual blade, we have dual pistol... why not do both at the same time. We could start off with using the Diamondback as a stand-in (with a rotated version ported as a sword skin. If it worked out well, more skins could be added either based on current weapons or newly made. What would it look like though? Dual Blades, Dual Pistols, Devices Name Animation Level Description Pistols Pistols 1 Ranged, Minor Damage (Lethal), -Defense Ablating Strikes Ablating Strikes 2 Melee, Moderate Damage (Lethal), Foe -Defense Bullet Rain Bullet Rain 4 Ranged (Targeted AoE), Moderate Damage (Lethal), Knockback Blinding Feint Blinding Feint 10 Melee, Moderate Damage (Lethal) Self +Damage +To-Hit Suppressive Fire Suppressive Fire 16 Ranged, Minor Damage (Lethal), Foe Disorient Stealth Gear Cloaking Device 20 Toggle: Self Stealth, +Defense (All), +Special Piercing Rounds Piercing Rounds 28 Narrow Ranged (Cone), High Damage (Lethal), Foes -Res(All) Sweeping Strikes Sweeping Strikes 35 Melee (Cone), Superior Damage (Lethal) Hail of Bullets Hail of Bullets 38 PBAoE, Superior DMG(Lethal), +Defense(Ranged/Melee/AoE), Foe Knockdown This provides a fast-paced offense-oriented Assault set with a nice touch of defense in there to make things interesting. Thoughts?

This is an interesting concept, but wouldn't it be better to... nevermind, I've got a new assault set that I need to write up... I'll probably move this into the compilation thread next week as I am quite busy this week.

Relieving the slot crunch on Tri-Form Kheldians

Alternative proposal: T1/T2 powers share slots/timers [melee timers will be reduced] but retain their other current stats (some adjustments will need to be made to allow both melee and ranged slotting [among other slotting]). This will deal with slots without removing the unique attacks of each form. It may not be perfect, but will make tri-form a lot easier to slot while maintaining the flavor of each form.
