good point - i think TF will regularly recharge under 10s as i mostly play in teams with kins and similar. i'll factor in an attack chain to avoid spamming it too often
-
useful as always, thanks guys. def agree with the point around the snipe @Maelwys, looks like i hadn't checked the numbers on fireball much - pretty terrible damage. think i'll go with ice mastery for some reasonable damage snipes, blast and cone powers. i'm an ice fan so it'll be a nice addition will put the AS ATO set in TF instead, haven't played energy with the new focus mechanic, will see how things go with using TF as an opener @Uun softcap? don't make me tap the signature π helpful comments on the slots thanks - that'll polish it off nicely. i'll see what i can sacrifice to fit grant cover in too i made the alt on halloween for the 20 year anniversairy of CoV, currently at the mighty heights of level 1.5 but will get it moving properly later today

i'm looking to roll a new alt having not made anything new since january 2023 which was an elec/shield stalker this time round i'm going to see how energy melee is for speed runs and similar fast paced content. a shame to not have crits on ET (and TF?) but should still deliver some powerful hits against bosses as someone who spends a lot of time commenting on other builds, i'm keen to get thoughts and ideas on this one @Uun @Maelwys@Ston some build notes: - will always use def insps during gameplay, seeking to balance good damage with a sensible amount of base defense for a small purple insp to supplement - could consider just using teleport as my primary travel power with combat jumping, may feel a bit janky though - not wedded to any particular mastery, i tend to forget about them on a stalker. fireball + shield charge could fill the AoE gap nicely - will prob go with musc alpha ENERGY SHIELD - Hero Stalker Build plan made with Mids Reborn v3.7.14 rev. 3 adding some bullets after @Uun's review: - i would pick up vengeance rather than having manuvers, assault and tactics. i'd drop tactics for it. having veng pairs well with fallout. which brings me to: - fallout is good fun! i'd drop rain of fire for it. throwing a handful of pennies in the air is more effective than rain of fire - there's a lot of travel redundancy, i'd drop infiltration to pick up EM pulse. it's some nice extra -regen for end game AVs and similar - the focus on defense has resulted in the offensive powers being slotted sub-optimally. the -res from radiation would pair nicely with a greater focus on procs - personal taste: fly, hover and similar powers make any alt a sitting duck. combat jumping is a must - if i wanted power boost, i'd pick it up from soul mastery which recharges in half the time. conserve power has a base 10 minute recharge, it's not going to save you often - as uun said, enzyme exposure HOs are great. i expect they were quite literally made with radiation infection in mind. two of those frees up a lot of slots - overall my personal preference is not to build for defense as it restricts the potential of alts and consumes a lot of slots which could be replaced by popping a single medium purple great combo though, it'll be an enjoyable character to play
-
i have experienced the opposite problem for years - attributes i monitor sometimes simply disappear and i have to read add them. no idea why it happens, perhaps i accidentally press a hotkey combination
-
i tend to go with whichever is most fun, theyβre all pretty good
-
damn, thatβs good going. iβm still on 4 alts, made the most recent one in 2023 haha youβll like fiery assault on dominators, very powerful set. makes it hard to play anything else
-
some thoughts, many are personal taste: - hover is an awful choice for a kin which is a really active and movement heavy set. you'll frequently be jumping into combat for fulcrum shift, jumping away for cones etc. it will make you a sitting duck - intertial reduction is one of the best travel powers in the game. unlike regular travel powers it doesn't suffer from the temporary movement debuff after attacking, very liberating! - if you have combat TP and teleport you mayaswel get fold space, it's useful for fulcrum shift at times. i'd drop increase density for it - i know people like building for defense, but speed boost is overslotted and a poor use of slots. put some more into siphon speed and fulcrum shift would be my choice, it's useful at low levels and handy for AVs that like to run, esp with power boost. make sure your generic IO's are +5'd too - why the chance for +heal in sirens song? you have transfusion - pick an accurate healing IO set for transfusion. it needs accuracy and you will experience situations where a heal is the difference between life and death, missing once can be fatal! - no siphon power? sad noises. it's great for low levels and stacks nicely with fulcrum shift when you're fighting AVs - yeah, definitely get amplify - incarnate choice could be more optimum, i'd go with spiritual core for the +45% recharge and +33% heal
-
are you excelsior? that combined with my kin/sonic def would be a wild ride
-
-45% res on a defender combined with fulcrum shift is the reason i keep playing mine. if someone on the team also has a -res power thatβs when things really start to get fun @Lhanis i personally find playing a defender very liberating *because* of the fact my damage output is meaningless. some sessions iβll want to be the one slinging out the damage, other times itβs fun to be the buffer and debuffer i think deciding on what suits your playstyle the best will help you land on the right alt regardless, like others have alluded to, itβs a fantastic set and hard to get wrong. if you keep SB up on your team and FS regularly youβll have a great time
-
hey lhanis my main on HC is a kin/sonic defender, i had one on live and have been playing this one as one of my two primary alts since summer 2019. it experienced the nerf to sonic blast and now enjoys the buff it received to the -res component (now a flat -15% across all powers for a defender) the choice between defender and corrupter depends on whether you want to be a damager dealer or a buffer in my opinion my kin/sonic def is purely buff/debuff focused. the damage it deals is insigifnicant, this lets me focus on playing a team role - making sure SB is applied to everyone, maximum fulcum shift, hitting each mob with a good amount of -res and having powerboosted veng ready for when it's needed kinetics is still very effective on corrupters, i would find it too burdensome to be focusing on both damage and managing kin effectively if i was to play a corrupter. if you're solo'ing then it's less hectic, therefore corrupter would definitely be the right choice saying that, if i was to make a /kin corrupter for solo play i'd pick ice blast or fire blast for the higher damage output

agreed - very professional

i see that this is not desired so iβm going to contribute some suggestions which are much more unpalatable: - if more than 5 people click βduelβ on a target, they become vulnerable to PvP mode. if that many people want to duel someone then it must surely be for a good reason - atlas park will become a PvP zone without notice several times a day for a maximum of 30 seconds - if you make a bad power choice at ms lib, she becomes an enemy lvl 54 AV and lashes out at everyone around her - the globe above atlas plaza has not been well maintained during the near decade long CoH hiatus. as a result, it occasionally rolls away, crushing everyone in its path
-
i agree. a lot of the early content such as Posi 1 and 2 below lvl 20 is some of the best content in the game anyway thereβs a lot to learn in the game. iβve been playing for 20 years and still learn new things
-
calling @Spaghetti Betty
-
why not just do another run for an extra 10 minutes?
-
i would never re-do my two mains, my mind/fire dom and kin/sonic defender. both were created in 2019 and the time theyβve been around for gives them value from being aged like a good spirit in an oak barrel
-
i donβt know, but i have a related story.. back in the day i used to think i had discovered a l33t PvP hack. if i was being chased in sirens call or i was under attack, iβd quit the game by clicking βquit to desktopβ which would close the game immediately. hah! i thought, i have discovered teh ultimate escape.. when in reality i now realise my alt was stood still for 29 seconds whilst a plethora of people pummelled it into a nutrient rich paste

put the proc in and continue to live your life, itβs fine. i wouldnβt overthink it

hey @perrond, some build thoughts - try to avoid 3 slotting things like recharge, you can get similar numbers from boosting enhancements instead once lvl 50, e.g. having your two recharge IOs at +3 or +5 through enhancement boosters. this frees up some slots - blaze and quick snipe blazing bolt are very close in their damage, bolt is a tiny bit higher. a great combination - speed boost looks a bit overslotted, i usually just put 2 end mod IOs into it - i wouldn't put the third slot of Miracle Heal into Health, you have transfusion for healing and transference for endurance - would have 2 recharge IOs into siphon speed along with suitable accuracy, it's helpful to stop AVs running away and similar hope it's fun to play, two great powersets
