  1. Nah it is better, 😜, Mind is the only set that can control 4 different mobs/spawns at once (Mass Hypnosis, Total Domination, Terrify, Mass Confusion).! Also it sucks that Dark's AoE immob is a cone, especially when Heart of Darkness is PBAoE. IMO - I would categorize Dark along side Fire and Earth. The closet to Mind would be Plant b/c of Seeds and Spore Burst. Wow Fire is definitely tier one for me because of damage and control (hard and soft) --- Flashfire, Hot Feet and Bonfire seal the deal.

  3. Those three can play differently depending on what you want. Do you want to play at melee or at range distance-wise? On the ground or Hover-blast? Answering these first will help to kick off your build goals. Just a suggestion, Fire/Ice is a Blapper in melee range. Archery/TA and Beam/Devices should play at range and either on the ground or in the air.
  4. Oh also another sensible fix for Dominators, is to fix the casting times of some of the T1 - T3 powers. For instance it is silly to have the ST hold cast in 1.07 and 1.1 secs for Fire and Mind while Plant and Electric cast in 2.07 and 2.17 secs.
  5. But of course I would go melee to maximize AA. I already have /Psi and /Fire that I play regularly so those are out. I will probably go Ice/Dark
  6. Challenge Accepted, my Next Dom will be Ice Control. I don't think the set looks all that weak actually. My suggestion would be to give either Shiver or Flash Freeze DPS in the range of Terrify and Bonfire. Oh and also do something about Jack. Jack should be at least as good as Poo. But I'll make mine petless anyway. So what shall I pair Ice/ with?
  7. I don't assume they all play like mind, but sure I'll agree that Ice and Elec probably could use some love (which is also probably why I have never touched them). Yeah I have leveled /Mental Blasters and /Atomic so I am well aware of challenges with such powers w/o mez protection. Also I think mez protection has quite a nice home in domination. It makes sense play-wise, it makes sense theme-wise, and so on. Again if mez is your primary bane then it sounds like Psi EPP and Clarion are you best friends. Until those levels you suffer just as much as everyone else. It really does seem like a Christmas wish list. Sorry if that's not very constructive.
  8. It's not about one power, it's about the whole set of sweeping ideas as a whole. It seems like you want one of the fabled tank-mages or something. If you got everything that you are asking for, it seems OP. edit And I am pretty sure I have a feel for AA w/o ever playing it. It's not that different from World of Confusion, only amplified with higher mag, duration, radius and swap minor damage for defuffs which I have also experienced with other powers
  9. Dominators are not all that different from blasters. Think of it this way... Dominators just put the Blast and Melee powers in one set (instead of two like Blasters) and Domintors take control powers and build up a primary set for them, whereas blasters have control powers spread between their primaries and secondaries. And just like blasters, typically you have to pick powersets that agree with your desired playstyle. For instance if you wanted to build a Blapper you probably won't take sets like Beam Rifle, or Tactical Arrow. And if you wanted to build a range-only blaster you probably won't pick sets like Dual Pistols, Dark Manip., Atomic, Martial, Ice Manip., etc. Similarly, for Doms there are sets good for range attacks and there are sets for melee. It's not all that different. It really isn't that hard to aim a Location AoE. Control primaries set 'em up, and Assault secondaries knock 'em down. they synergize quite well. Don't controllers and blasters team well together? well that's a Dom. If that's true then how can you not build a good Dom? Apparently a good Dom build really is impossible. enjoy! but I doubt that it will be "rapidly and with great ease. "
  10. Again you are really comparing Dominators solely against Controllers and that is the wrong AT. The comparable AT for Dominators is/should be Blasters. Somehow you didn't get that point in one of my previous posts. And it seems to me that you want your cake and to eat it too, and get seconds and thirds everyday without getting fat. You want Mag 6 auto-hit AA with debuffs/buffs, with a toggle mez protection, and apparently heals and more defense so you can enter melee range safely, domination on ice slick, a jacked Jack, maor, maor and so on. It seems a little out of touch to be honest. And btw AA only takes one click to get it to be usable with the added stealth, the -spd and rech, and the bonus icing-on-the-cake, the auto-hit confuse. I don't understand. Would you post you Ice Control build?
  11. personally no, but you can't compare it to TK... and it's not all that dissimilar to a number of other powers that I am very familiar with like World of Confusion, and Shadow Fall, Chilling Embrace, etc. The price for TK to toggle, auto-hit hold/repel and dominate is 3.12 end/sec. Are you willing to pay a steep price like that? That's because Dominators are Dominators. It's not a penalty, it's just the appropriate modifier for the AT. And some powers work better on Dominators and some better on Controllers.
  12. TK also costs over 3 end per sec so you can't leave it on, so sure if you want Arctic Air to cost 3.12 end/sec sure
  13. similar to what Mezmera said, I'd do it on my other doms as well. But Fire/Psi and Mind/Fire are my two favs though.
  14. What's more, I think you are making the wrong comparison over all. Doms should to be looking to blasters and Controllers to MMs, especially after the Tank/Brute changes at the beginning of the year. And then there are Corruptors/Defenders, and Scrappers/Stalkers/Sentinels. Controllers should be asking for pet windows and commands. Blasters and Doms are or should be High Risk, High Reward ATs, and measured/compared against one another. like this: Blasters: - Dominators: Defiance (ie more Damage) - More Control (especially w/ Domination) & crashless nukes Sustain Powers - Mez Protection (via Domination)
  15. I still think an auto-hit toggle with multiple effects would be OP. For Toggles and on targeted location AoEs I think first pulse is the only acceptable timing/place for Domination to apply. Which probably rules out domination on toggles.
  16. why not change the melee damage modifier to 1.125 and range to 1 (blaster reversed). The Dominator's control is fairly equal to Blaster's inherent (more damage), crashless nukes and sustain powers.

You don't see issues with a toggle auto hit power like Artic Air getting domination? *edit - not to mention it also has many other benfits like stealth, -spd, -rech Targeted Location AoEs like Static Field may have issues as well, not to mention it's more than a mezz, it also does -end, -rech, -spd and it's probably balanced around those things as well. I don't play earth (I have Fire, Mind, Dark, Grav Doms) does Stalagmites Dominate?
  18. ROFL - I have "tanked" with my Fire/Psi Dom on a 4-man (squishies only) Master (no deaths/temp powers) ITF with no inspirations and the Enemies were Buffed. We finished in about 36mins with 1 Dom, 1 Blaster, 1Controller, 1 Defender I did it on this build:
  19. The AT is working as intended, you are not just a control AT as a Dom. A Dom is also an Assault class. With Domination up Dominators add control to their assault, and w/o domination a Dominator still has the full array of assault. I think your view and appreciation of the AT is too narrow. You seem to feel a Dom should be played one way forever and always without adapting to different characteristics of the AT and to the various situations a Dom may find itself in (such as Domination up or down...). Your temperament seems more inclined to play a controller, or a scrapper. They are more straight forward. It's like you want domination-lock, à la scraper-lock. If mezz protection is all important to you then build around perma-domination, if you need more than take the Psi Epic power pool for Indom. Will, or take Clarion Destiny. It's not so hard. And yes choices have opportunity cost (not so big) so decide your priorities and run with them. Personally I manage perma-dom pretty damn well and don't cry for extra mez protection: Not even on my Blappers. President Truman--- "If you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen."   20. This is one of the worst takes on tweaking/modernizing an AT that I have seen. 1) This is ridiculous, Domination is only for Mez powers. It's like you don't understand the AT or game at all. 2) Valid 3) silly and seems based purely on your feelings/preferences. I think this is probably b/c you die too much. But either way, there is a gap b/c Domination actually does something YAY! 4) What? You do not need to play redside as a Dom. Ever. Besides no one wants to base any changes based on how you feel about redside. 5) Valid This is valid point
  21. Beam/Dev/Fire also works well for this. Glue Arrow or Caltrops + Bonfire with KB>KD is lovely.
