  1. Thanks for the clarification. Would seem to be a lot of work to make a whole new power/system just for this purpose alone. Would there be any other things you could re-use this on? If you were able to get a new power to work where whatever it is could accept user input via macro I think that would go a long way because it offers a solution for bookmarking.
  2. To add to this, it also seems a bit strange to allow a brand new player be able to create their own SG base at level 1 with all the trimmings, then block the teleport power to their brand spanking new base behind an in game paywall. I also don't see using Oro for quicker travel to be an exploit either. In my experience, people just don't want to waste limited playtime with travel. Wanting to get where we need to go quickly/efficiently may not "fit" the comic theme, but it is a common real world reality that needs to be taken into consideration IMO. Using stuff like the Oro portal or base teleporter or Pocket D teleport do not supplant travel powers.
  3. No argument there lol
  4. While you're 100% correct that is what took place back in yesteryear, to be fair you certainly weren't required to do it. The majority of teams I was on didn't do this - we actually enjoyed playing the content together and to be honest, even if we did do it, it got old for us real quick. If I didn't feel like it and this was what a PUG wanted to do, I politely said "no thanks" and left the team.
  5. STO offers 3D printing of ship avatars via Gameprint. You can tailor your ship at drydock and then order the print right from there - pay for it via in-game zen too. Prices for smaller sized prints are reasonable and quality looks to be very good. Everyone I know who ordered one are ecstatic over them. Definitely worth looking into here as IMO this would be a big hit. I'd sure buy some. Link 1 Link 2 Link 3
  6. That too. It's why I was thinking that perhaps having whatever replacement/update the existing base teleporter power gets, have it accept a passcode via macro as in the example I posted above. If your SG doesn't have a passcode, it will just work as it does now and port you to your SG base. If you use the macro route, it will accept the passcode passed to it via the macro and solves the bookmarking issue. I still very much like the idea @GM Sijin tossed out there with a directory of passcodes made public. Allows for a whole new area of exploration in the game. Now if they could only get exploration badges to really work in base.... 😀
  7. I was referring to the "teleporting" animation itself. I personally just don't like the generic teleport animation, not to mention it taking absurdly long on the existing base teleport power. It's why I suggested looking into a way of customizing the animation - as in choosing if you want the "teleporting" animation or something like the "listen to police band" or the phone/radio call Merc MMs have when summoning or magical portal summon type animation. It gives it some variety to fit in with our character. I've no objection whatsoever to whatever power we wind up getting having a short animation and being interruptible. Those are a must as it solves the issue of instant escape in PvP and Master of TFs.
  8. Yes, I'm aware. Does it really need to have a 30 second animation and 30 minute recharge though? Those appear to be the major complaints with it and makes it totally undesirable.
  9. Interesting idea.... can see it being tied into the SG/VG registrar, although it would get very cluttered to scroll through enormous lists when activating the power to pick where to visit. I imagine we would all want to bookmark/"favorite" friendly bases as well to separate them from the rest. Just a question - is it possible to give a command like this an activation animation even when using it as a slash command or macro? I mean, emotes work this way - if I type a /e into the chat, my toon does something. Not suggesting to keep the existing GM one, rather make a new one. This would allow it to be used as a macro/bookmark while adding in the necessary activation animation? Just thinking out loud. Or how about changing the existing base TP power to accept passcode input via macro since we can string emotes/chat/power activation together via macro? Example; /macro MyBaseTP "powexec_name base_teleporter$$<passcode_here>"
  10. Not so sure it will given that there are other superhero games on the market now and the rise of the MCU hasn't seem to have affected them greatly. But you never know.
  11. Next question would be did you by chance place the inactive versions of power generators or whatever workshop items you are using?
  12. What objects are you having trouble with? Also, did you press F3 to enable room clipping?
  13. Love this idea 3000! 😀 Gives me some interesting ideas for themed bases. Please do share the codes when you have them all set up. The activation time and animation could use some love as well. Both are horrible IMO. Wonder if it is possible to have it customizable so we can select an animation for it - kind of like costume changes?
  14. Can only speak for myself but that is way too much work for me lol. Far easier to just drop and oro portal or take the train.
  15. I don't see adding yet another beacon to bases for inter-base teleport being much of a solution. You're still going to have to keep lists handy and tab out to cut/paste codes in. The existing base port power is ok, but would need a much, much better animation (or better yet choice of animations - eg. tech, magic etc.), much, much shorter activation time and the ability to bookmark other base passcodes like we have now. Personally, I don't mind it having a short cooldown (although I really don't see the need for this to be honest) or being interruptible either. Bookmarking is the most important piece for me personally. I can only speak for myself, but if we're going to just be given another beacon and/or less crappy version of what exists now without having the ability to bookmark, then it simply isn't worth the time or effort to code something new IMO. I kind of like the idea of an Oro type portal drop power for it - so long as it can accept bookmarks. I think an important question you all need to ask yourselves is what purpose do you want bases to serve? Are they supposed to be just for RP or are they supposed to be functional? If functional, then travel is a piece of that - are they supposed to supplement existing travel methods or supplant them? Opening them up as you have and removing the utterly ludicrous prestige restrictions that existed when the game was live was a great thing IMO. I disagree with just about everything @Bentley Berkeleysaid, however I do agree that base building to help expand the game is worth noting. Personally, I have met and teamed with a great many players who don't want the hassle or drama of being in a SG or invest the time in building something themselves, but they very much do appreciate being able to use what others have built. There are many bases now built for this specific purpose and something to think about as you work out what you want to do. How can you capitalize on that to make the game better?
  16. And on that we totally see eye to eye. 😁
  17. It might have some very, very, very small advantages given in a very, very narrow set of circumstances that really are meaningless and save you fractions of seconds. I mean, how granular do you want to get? If I'm not dead, don't have flight or afterburner and just finished a mission, it's just as easy to port to Oro to go where I need as it is to port to my base. I'll save myself what? A fraction of a second travel time? Again, I think comparing them from the standpoint that the slash command has no cooldown and costs nothing at all to get is a better reason for labeling it as superior.
  18. Why wouldn't you just use the Oro portal right after exiting a mission? I mean, if your entire argument is going to be I have to click a button before using the Oro portal, that isn't much of an argument as far as I'm concerned. Having to click a button doesn't even register on the silly scale. Also, saying being able to use it at level 1 doesn't hold water either. What reason is there to use it at or the Oro portal at level 1? You don't have any content running in the majority of zones accessible from them. If you want to claim it is better because there is no cooldown and no real effort put into obtaining it, then yes I will agree it is superior. This is also why I am agreeing that it does need to be changed, along with it being abused in PvP zones and Master of TFs.
  19. You keep arguing that somehow the slash command is vastly superior for travel to what already exists and I tried explaining that it is not in every given situation. It all depends where you are and where you need to go. Sometimes it is the best choice, some times its not. Sometimes Oro portal or the train are better options simply because of where you will exit. This isn't rocket science. Using it just for quick travel is a convenience that's no different than the Oro portal or P2W powers. You brought up using it on speed runs. I see this just about every day. People who are farming merits by running speed TFs have travel time down to a science and I can guarantee you not everyone is using the slash command for quick travel. In my experience it isn't even used half the time. Again, depends on where you are and where you need to go. The slash command to the base is not always the fastest choice as you asserted. Using one of your examples - hazard zones - say I'm deep within Boomtown and need to go to PI or Talos Island next. The Oro Portal or the Base Porter will get me where I need to go. What difference does it make which one I use since they both arrive at the same place in the same amount of steps?
  20. Yes, people were using it as an instant escape from death in Master of TF runs.
  21. No question is it being exploited in PvP and on Master of TF runs, so it does need to be removed. We can only hope that it will get replaced by something similar, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
  22. Not really interested in going tit for tat with you on this - it is simply less loading screens to go to the Oroborous zone via Oro portal than it is to use the beacons in the base.
  23. I might be wrong, however I believe @Bentley Berkeley is talking about losing the capability of saving these as macro buttons. No need to keep a list of passcodes handy somewhere to copy/paste at the portal entrance. It's a very nice QoL feature to do that and I would hope we will be able to retain that capability with whatever replaces it, although I seriously doubt it.
  24. Which is an extra loading screen vs using the Oro portal. Which this does remind me - was there ever a (non-story) reason given for not having a base TP beacon to Cimerora? Or was this something that just never got around to?
  25. There is no teleport beacon for bases to the Oro zone map.
