  1. His post reads very positively to me.
  2. Very cool @TheGem! 😀
  3. Not to mention things like parody, fair use etc. Transformative use is an excellent one you mentioned most people don't know about.
  4. Fear mongering is a typical tactic used to try and scare people into submission. All one need do is read the posts from most of the anti-cosplay crowd to see what their real motivation is - they don't like it, think people shouldn't do it and want to dictate to other people how to play.
  5. I really don't care for farming and farming missions cluttering up the AE list, however those are still content and the people making them are content creators too. Clearly they have an audience eager to run their stuff. I don't care for it, but won't begrudge those that do. I would like to see the better, non-farm missions get rewarded more somehow. "Dev spotlight" or something like that. STO allowed you to tip the author with in-game currency if you liked their mission.
  6. The Foundry over in STO had this functionality. You could define where the mission(s) took place. I say had because Cryptic poo pooed the Foundry and removed it from STO. Sad, sad, sad day for that game. 🙁
  7. Not to mention today the internet is literally polluted with mods/skins of any Marvel/DC/Disney/CBS/NBC et al character you can think of for just about any game you can think of - all freely available for download.
  8. Has nothing to do with apples or oranges. A better descriptor is you're asking what does more damage to a target - A .45 pistol or a 50 cal sniper rifle? These are not even in the same league. Not even close. You're asking "what melee AT does the most single target damage" and including ATs that are inherently not designed to do high single target damage with ATs that are specifically designed to do enormous amounts of single target damage. The built in, inherent programmed differences between the melee ATs are blatantly obvious. The question makes no sense. You're better off asking for a comparison between Scrappers and Stalkers.
  9. Not needed at this point. There is a GM response to this at the top of this thread - there is no policyagainst characters, Architect Entertainment missions, supergroup bases, etc. that copy or make homage to other people's trademarks. Should that ever change, then it might be needed.
  10. I agree. I too find people rolling a green skinned purple trunk toon named some variation of Hulk boring. However, who am I to judge? If that is what makes that player happy, more power to them.
  11. There is nothing wrong with discussion, I just don't understand the question. You're asking what AT does more single target damage, yet some of the ATs you ask about are not designed to be DPS machines whereas others are. Or are you expecting a tanker be able to do equal damage as a stalker using AS from hide?
  12. Do we really need to explain that there are built in differences between the different melee archetypes and powersets? I mean, they are kind of designed that way...
  13. The question sort of proceeds from an incorrect premise and ignores balance among ATs and powersets as well.
  14. Exactly. Anyone saying otherwise is quite frankly full of beans as far as I'm concerned.
  15. I'm inclined to agree - perhaps this is a topic worth stickying?
  16. Of course there are. No doubt about it. I will just respectfully disagree this is something to be overly concerned about at this point.
  17. I cheerfully admit that mine is a Wonder Woman clone as well - albeit not all that literally. If you were to read her in-game bio, she is most definitely not a clone of the real WW, rather a clone from genetic material of random donor super powered people. She, like all the other "minis", are part of a failed FBSA funded experiment run by a Freedom Corps/Vanguard joint venture. The program - code named "Operation Goliath" - was put in place as a way to quickly replace heroes lost in the first Rikti War. The project never really worked, and was "officially" cancelled (it still operates in secret of course) when the science used was deemed a failure due to all of the clones never reaching a height beyond 3 feet. Hence the term "mini" and why they all have some variation of the word "mini" in their names. Basically, this idea was born out of boredom. There were a group of us back in the day before incarnates and IOs who had already leveled up multiple 50s. We were bored one night and were chatting and laughing on teamspeak about "Mini Me" from the Austin Powers movie. We all thought it would be hilarious to make "mini" versions of each others characters, so we did. We had a ton of fun playing all of them together and poking fun at each other. That idea eventually expanded into the whole "Operation Goliath" story. I had a couple of fun AE arcs back in the day titled "World War Mini" and "Planet Mini" where one of the minis went evil and stole the cloning technology. She attempted to create her own clone army and take over the world. I mean, why not? That's what evil people do. The "minis" are (and are meant to be) humorous parodies and to this day I still find them funny and fun to play. I enjoy them just as much as my original characters.
  18. This is based on the very, very, very false assumption that cosplay is not at all creative, takes no effort and has no respect for the creativity of others. In fact, the exact opposite is true. As I said, just watch any video on YouTube from any type of comic/anime/gaming con and look at the meticulous lengths a great many adults and children alike go to in crafting their cosplay costumes. You can clearly see the amount of effort that went into making them. As an example, this man is a world record holder for his cosplay. Are you really going to try and claim this is not creative and took no effort? Or he doesn't understand that Batman is a trademarked character? Look at all the stuff Hacksmith builds. Clearly a lot of effort going into these and he is collecting advertising money to make these videos. This isn't being done to be disrespectful or harm the IP owners - quite the opposite. It shows the great love, respect and adoration people have for their favorite character. I personally see this as an important part of keeping those characters/properties relevant. To give a real world example - look at CBS and Star Trek fan films. CBS never said a word for decades about fan projects - some they even acknowledged and encouraged. Why? It helped keep interest in their IP alive. CBS took exception to their long standing rule the instant some total moron tried to make a profit from it. Believe me, I totally get it that people think cosplays/homages are tacky or whatever and there is absolutely unequivocally nothing wrong with that at all. But to try and label homages/cosplays as not creative or intentionally trying to crap on their respective owners is completely and utterly false. Personally, I also don't see Disney/Marvel or WB/DC going all crazy over a long dead MMO no more than Procter and Gamble going crazy about people creating characters named after one of their trademarked feminine products.
  19. So when you were a kid, you and your friends dressed up and played as "Generic Hero Guy XYZ123"? Or did you pretend to be Batman, Superman, Spider-Man etc.? Making cosplays is not disrespectful in any way, shape or form. It shows the passion, great love and affection people have for favorite characters from their childhood. And I challenge you to watch any cosplay videos on YouTube from comic con and try to claim those people have a "lack of creativity." Some of their creations are truly amazing. I personally have seen more characters created as puns for male anatomy or used feminine products, some of which have names that are truly offensive and disgusting to me. With that said, the very last thing I will do is report those people for it.
  20. You're playing an illegal copy of a game that was essentially taken without permission from the rightful owner. I would be far, far, far more concerned about playing an illegal copy of the game than anything else causing the game to be shut down. That is way more likely to be the cause rather than people making homage cosplay characters. ^ This right here, not to mention not having permission to have the game code in the first place. Personally, I think it best to let the Homecoming folk decide on what to do with this instead of the Google search law experts.
  21. Liking the increase in target caps for Taunt and such.
  22. If you are referring to building outside your base, all you need to do is this while in base edit mode; Press F3 to enable Room Clipping Fill your room(s) from floor to ceiling - use the Current Room > Object window to do this (see image below) Click on your base entry portal item and drag it above the room you just filled from floor to ceiling. It will place it above the base. If you are stuck in your entrance room, type /stuck into the chat and you will be moved to wherever you placed the entry portal. You can now start building outside the base. This is the screen you want to fill the room(s) from floor to ceiling. Just click the Wall section shown below to toggle filling up a column from floor to ceiling, then apply it to the whole room or whole base using the Apply to Room or Apply to Base buttons. You can also click and hold a section of the floor and drag the mouse up to create a column from floor to ceiling.
  23. Can't say for certain that this proposed change solves anything as others have said it seems to be designed to be punitive for building for stacking. At this point, I'm wondering if it would just be better to remove all the penalties and convert Rage to a click build-up type power and be done with it. Sounds to me like the issue/problem is stacking it - so wouldn't making it non-stackable be a better solution? Personally, I really never understood the thinking behind adding -RES, -RES, -DMG and a huge END cost to it. Yes, I get the comic book theme of it - however, we spend a good amount of time leveling a character, building them up with IO sets and such only to have that work partially negated by using Rage. I would have to test this out to really say whether or not I would like it. No crash for not stacking sounds ok - just not sure how that would play.
  24. I believe if you have Num Lock turned on, the Del key on the numpad is a period (.)
  25. While editing, select the object you want to delete and press the Delete key. You can also go to the "Current Room" button and then scroll to find the item you want to get rid of and click the "Sell" button beneath it.
