  1. If you mod the game, is it just not possible that a mod you have installed may be allowing you to see things that those of us who play vanilla unmodded Homecoming are not seeing? That seems more likely than they just slipped in nudity one day on a whim. I am not saying you don’t know what your doing, just suggesting that something may be having unintended consequences. I still don’t know your definition of what constitutes nudity is so I’m just spitballing. I make costumes pretty regularly and while I don’t go through every option or combo every time, I am pretty confident there is no “nudity” in the vanilla unmodded game.
  2. I’d be curious about some specifics because I doubt there is any option for “nudity” in costume customization. There has always been the option (going back to Live) to try to match skin tone with similar color to create the appearance of nudity but it essentially makes the character a Barbie doll. There is no anatomy that denotes nudity. if you mean some of the skimpiest costume options, they also go back to Live though I do think the thong was a Homecoming addition. Another possibility is that someone in your household added a mod to your computer that created client-side options that only you could see. I’ve heard tell that they are out there and I assume that if someone uses a mod to create a nude character then other folks with that same mod may also have the option but I don’t mod the game so I have no idea how it works.
  3. I’m at work and can’t check availability at the moment but are you looking for a proper name that sounds like it could be for a Valkyrie (like Elida Elfsbane for example) or a superheroic name that could belong to a Valkyrie (like Frostbreaker)? Let me know which and I can do some hunting after work?
  4. Caption: Duke Dreadsome enjoys an Orange Fanta in Pocket D after being informed that the "distilled essence of original sin" was unavailable as an ingredient. A Dread Minion looks on. "Ah, my dearest fairest lady, prepare to be ensnared in the dark tapestry of my lineage, where shadows loom like specters of dread and laughter emerges from the very depths of despair. Picture my mother, if you will: Genevieve von Nachtstein, a haunting beauty cursed with both a hoof and the laziest of eyes. Nevertheless, she was a commoner with an otherworldly allure, her presence cast an eerie spell upon all who dared to gaze upon her twisted grace and my father was soon enough ensnared. So then, behold my father: Dimitri Konrad Dreadsome, an albino petty noble, twisted and pale like a specter from the abyss. His macabre pursuits, squandering our family fortune on erotic puppet shows and penning verses of nightmarish poetry, lent an air of derangement to my very conception as he wooed my mother with his filth. Even as I quickened in mother's chilly womb, they were together weaving a legacy of despair and peculiarity; one that would instill within me the seeds of malevolence that now bear bitter fruit. Oh, how they danced in the moonlit madness of their existence, like tragic figures in an absurd play. I tried to understand them. As a boy, I would approach my father's study while he was at it, and find him in such a state that it embarrasses me still, even though he has long since met his maker. I would clutch to my breast my only toy and only friend - a bit of moldy bread crust - and ask in my small voice, "Where are their clothes, Papa? WHY DO THE PUPPETS NOT HAVE CLOTHES!?" Father, stripped to the waist and sweating like a laborer, would only laugh maniacally. These bits of absurdity fueled me and as I, Duke Dreadsome, stand upon the precipice of world domination, I am but a twisted reflection of my tragic ancestry. The shadows of my family's bizarre past haunt my every step, and I embrace them with a sinister glee, for they are the very foundation of my grim existence. Fear not the darkness that consumes my soul, for it is the essence of my being, lurking like a malevolent specter within my heart. I revel in the sinister theatrics, the dark comedy that plays out upon the stage of Dreadovia. Now, let us descend deeper into the abyss of Dreadovia's secrets, where shadows writhe like serpents of darkness and the laughter echoes with a chilling mirth. Speak, and I, Duke Dreadsome, shall respond with a flair for the macabre, unfolding the tale of our bleak existence with darkly funny elegance. Onward, to the malevolence that lies in wait, lurking just beneath the surface!"
  5. Annnnnd...that was it. I am so dumb. Thanks, @Vanden! Issue is resolved!
  6. For Villains and Rogues, it says the badge is Crey Employee. For Heroes and Vigilantes, it says Crey Test Subject. Maybe I need to change my alignment to get it to award? And then change back.
  7. It seems like this badge may be bugged. I've had a vigilante character logged out in the building for the required amount of time. The progress bar under Badges > Closest to Completion seems to be filled, it doesn't give the percent breakdown on mouseover, but I have no badge nor benefit as yet. The character is meant to be a literal Crey test subject so the badge would be great, if only it would award!
  8. I am semi-regularly on a Hami with someone who said they were putting me on ignore because I gave them a Duplicating Gift. Literally, I gave it to just a random person walking by and they sent me a tell saying, "Welcome to ignore. I didn't want that badge on this character." For the uninitiated, you get 'Gift Getter" if someone gives you the Duplicating Gift. The whole point of the temp power is to pass it around so merely logging into the Winter Event makes the chance of getting one pretty high. I know because I one-starred them with a brief note and have seen them on Hami's now and then. I just figured if they can be that touchy and unrealistic in their expectations, I'd like to give them a wide-berth even if they don't have me on ignore. I'm sure they would be a little ticked being excluded from a Hami raid just because there was a negative experience with one-person out of a potential 48. I know I would. Some message noting the status would be welcome. There are definitely experiences that have been negative enough where if I got this pop-up after joining a team and checked my note, I may well bow out. But really, the only one you really "have" to hear from is the leader and if they have you on ignore, you won't even know they were recruiting.
  9. I have almost 500 million on one character. Add that with the 100 or so other alts, I have 500 million and 42!
  10. Has anyone built a good repair garage? Any pointers? I'm no base builder but I RP'd my way into needing to come up with one post haste. It is supposed to be in King's Row, I envision a small-ish 3 repair bay set-up in a walled in courtyard with some modest living quarters above. Supposed to belong to like a 20-something technopathic former criminal, now trying to go straight in the big city. If anyone has done something like this, would love a look/tour! I'm all thumbs at base building and lack the patience to do the truly grand things that some of you do but I would like to get into it enough to at least construct small lairs, headquarters, apartments, etc. for my street level heroes and villains.
  11. I nabbed Pretty Penny because it may work on a character rename. Still mulling it though so if I re-release, I will announce it.
  12. Ah, shoot. Just ran this arc and totally missed the Hero Corps bosses. I was curious to see Little League as I have had Big League going back to Live (though he was Big Leaguer then). On Homecoming, I won a costume/bio contest and one of the other participants liked BL so much he made Little League as a sidekick. I didn't really have the heart to explain that my altitis probably meant we wouldn't hang out that much but we did stand around Atlas for a bit that one day. When I saw Little League in the patch notes as a Hero Corp boss, I thought that maybe that guy had submitted him in that Hero Corps thread but I didn't see him there. Now I have to run that arc again! (If anyone wonders, BL's Juice Boost is the Adrenal Boost and the Corrosive Curveball is Corrosive Vial. It isn't my most efficient build but I dig BL!))
  13. Through some extensive RP, a renaming of one of my characters was in order. I knew I wanted to have "Sky" in the name and had these all on reserve until I settled on one. These were released: Sky Dart Skydart Sky Comet Sky Runner Sky Sprite Unrelated, I've released these names: Cyclopea Demon Hand Doctor Utopia Fresco Maginus Maiden Blackheart Enjoy!
  14. Scantily-clad woman and men (I think painted-on bodysuits that show every ripple of musculature beneath qualify) have long been part of the superhero genre. My recollection is that the original models seemed to imply that every female character and a lot of the female AVs would have consistently been depicted with "happy" nipples and some variation of see-through on the costume, depending on the coloration. And this would have been along with the female character options generally having more skin available. While it is far from unheard of in superhero comics art, having "happy" be the default female option may have just been seen as a bit too much. It wouldn't be the first time that the powers that be zeroed in on one (well, two) things to have an issue with while hypocritically ignoring scores of others. That seems to be humanity's default setting. Assuming of course, this wasn't some fevered dream I had. The internet is supposed to be forever so I'm surprised I can't even find the Countess Crey picture.
  15. My memory is that it was definitely City of Heroes although my memory could be faulty. I was also under the impression that this was all pre-launch and resolved before open beta but the lighting costume issue that @biostem mentioned could have been some remnant of the original models. But mainly I recall it being CoH because of the Countess Crey character art included in the post / article that I saw ages back that discussed all this. Again, my impression was that art was actual concept art but it could just as easily been some fan art thrown in because it fit the subject matter and I just misunderstood/misremembered.
  16. To clarify this vague recollection - it wasn't like the female character models had nipples that were just outright exposed but the costumes mostly made them appear erect and there was a very slight color shading that even suggested the size and shape of areola. It was more prominent on lighter colored costumes, of course.
  17. Thanks, all! Super nice and helpful!
  18. I have a vague recollection of the female character models in the early game (we're talking alpha or maybe even just some concepts) being a bit over-the-top with visible nipple. I definitely recall seeing some Countess Crey concept art that looked like it was drawn by 13-year old Robert Crumb. I even recall one of the Devs saying something like "Yeah, we had to grow up a bit" when NC Soft pushed back on the design ideas. I can't seem to (easily) find anything about it out there any more. Was this really a thing? Or am I conflating two different things?
  19. Out of curiosity though, are there separate files that govern how you lay out the UI? Or are they just part of the character file? Being able to template that and drag it over to any new character would be cool.
  20. Or....THAT!
  21. This is my whole schtick with the all-powerful Duke Dreadsome, who may actually just be a villain cosplayer. I usually start with a crazy drink order in Pocket D, try to recruit some henchmen to truly deplorable conditions, ramble about how he is a widower seven times over, and then eventually call an Uber to catch the "Skull Flyer" in Port Oakes. Always fun! "Ah, my dear bartender, I require a libation fit for a ruler of the underworld! A cauldron of molten gold, infused with the tears of my enemies and the blood of a thousand sacrificial goats! Mix it with the venom of the most venomous snakes and top it with a diamond chalice filled with the finest nectar from the flowers of the Underworld. And for an added touch of decadence, sprinkle it with gold leaf and garnish with the heart of a dragon!"
  22. My SSD seems to be acting funky and while I am hoping it is just some corrupted boot files I can repair, I may have to reformat or get a new hard drive. It's a long story but since the drive is showing as healthy even though something is obviously wrong, I probably don't want to just clone it and will just do a fresh reinstall of, well, everything. My question is while I definitely want to save things like costumes, screenshots, etc, what files in CoH constitute how your characters are ordered and how the individual UIs are laid out? I know it's kind of crazy but I have over 100+ characters arranged alphabetically in alternating alignments and while it would only take a couple minutes to fix each one again, doing that for 4.5+ hours on top of everything else that goes with a reinstall sounds sad and filled with sighs. I am, of course, aware that I don't have to be this persnickety about the characters and how they are arranged but it is the way my mental issues manifest themselves. Thanks in advance!
  23. Ah. My guess is someone at some point named a character that and something in the appearance / bio made it obvious that it was because of more, um, adult reasons and someone petitioned so they banned it. Or the ban goes back to back in the day and it was just on the list already.
  24. I'm not mentioning this to dwell on ALL the meanings of the name but Gag Reflex seemed to be available. I say "seemed" because nothing came up on a getglobalname search but it is possible I typo'd (it was during a fight) or that the person has it as a character name and a global name. I didn't check it in the actual character creator. I almost took it for a poison spitting clown character since it worked on two levels but I found something I liked better. It could be a good pun name if used for a jokey or gross character.
  25. I'm not at home yet so I can't play around with the character creator but has anyone ever tried or had luck creating a static / white noise kind of costume pattern? It's not something I've tried before but I thought someone may have some thoughts.
