Add an 8th enhancement tab, or add 3 more so we can have 10
Troo replied to Neogumbercules's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
70 accommodates a respec with a character unslotting all enhancements. If not for respecs we likely wouldn't have that many. Edit: Turns out I totally forgot about the initial slot per power.. and multiforms. Given that, it is not an unreasonable request. -
Welcome. I'm going to provide a little different take. Fist, here is a good resource if you're looking for info on Tankers: https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Tanker Second, enjoy being new. Don't worry about the end game out of the gate. City of Heroes has a ton of variety and content way before a limited 'end game'. One of the strengths of the game is how many different combinations of power sets there are. Something will fit your play style. Pick one, if you don't like it, try another. If you are like many of us, you'll have more than a handful of characters. Invulnerability / Super Strength is a great pick to learn the game on and won't suddenly suck at higher levels once you address the Psi vulnerably.. Shield Defense, Radiation Armor, Bio Armor, and Electric Armor are also good primary choices. Willpower is sorta too easy. Dark Armor is great but has nuance and drawbacks. Fire and Ice have strengths and drawbacks. Super Reflexes is great until it isn't. This is also another good one to learn on. Stone Armor has the best defense but at a cost (you're slow & vertically challenged) "although offering superior defense, also slow you down due to its enormous bulk." For Secondaries, do you prefer straight forward powers or something with a combo type mechanic built in. Any preference on attacking with fists, kicks, weapons, elemental powers. There is likely more than a couple fun ones waiting for you. If you like weapons and combo mechanics - Titan Weapons is really strong. Cheers

I get that some folks like opening packs and some seek variety. It also seems some are torn between "free money!" & "it's soo hard", or some version of "free money" & "it should be easier", all the way to "easy money".. "but I need a macro" Example: Packs honestly aren't really that good of a return and there is some risk the RNG is grumpy.

27% is kinda sad for the number of clicks involved.

okay.. A level One version of Troo on Everlasting is my actual ebil marketeer. Started with the big inspiration from the tutorial. 30ish of the 47 market slots hide funds while busily acquiring slightly discounted purps to email to my other characters..

@mean_geneI get that it may be a generally accepted exploit among the few involved in organized team pvp matches. But that is not the entirety of pvp in this game.
-
I thought you made some excellent points and I said so. I don't think I took it out of context. I just didn't rephrase that part as "so.. all things being equal it provides a competitive advantage". I agree. It is what it is.. address it or leave it as is. I totally appreciate that you were on the level about it. If the game were only pvp or pvp was totally segregated, then maybe it could be a generally accepted exploit. Really so few are involved in pvp matches, what happens there doesn't affect the majority..

So you disagree with macskull's assessment; "Does animation canceling provide an advantage? Absolutely,"? At least be honest with yourself. I appreciate your position, though it does sound like you are trying mostly to convince you. That leveraging this quirk in game mechanics is a topic of discussion with your organized 'competitive games' is telling. Folks leveraging a quirk in game mechanics purposely to gain a competitive advantage, is by definition, an exploit.

Thou doth protest too much..

Anthem seemed fun early on..

I think you might be better off waving your hand and saying "this is not the bug you are looking for". Maybe stick with "pvp is small and this doesn't effect many.. it's not worth the effort"

It's an exploit. If it wasn't, there would be no harm in addressing it. @macskullyou made some good points.. then you wrote:

Yes, I totally caveat-ed it to regular content. How the two below align is a bit of mystery. Is it toggle dropping that gets Ice in trouble or DDR? My experience has been #3 "oh shit psi hurt" #1 "Cascading Defense Failure Sets that are prone to CDF are: Ice Armor, Shield Defense, Energy Aura, Ninjitsu, and all of the Soldiers of Arachnos. Super Reflexes used to be the poster child for CDF, but it now benefits from large amounts of Defense Debuff Resistance." #2 Tanker Ice Armor is at 50%+ DDR sample defense debuff resistance examples: Def vs Def+DDR
-
hmmm some of the comments just don't seem to align with "elec/ice was one of the most fun toons i ever had." (maybe that's just a really nice pairing) Ice is an excellent typed defensive set for regular content. Very late game ... It was not really built to deal with Incarnate content. Icy Bastion helps and because it is so easy to cap S/L/E/N, the Psi hole can then be somewhat addressed through IOs. I do wish it provided a little more to some other resist rather than blowing past the cold cap so quickly. Hoarfrost is not a long recharge heal.. really it's a HP boost that can be perma'd. (This may be a weakness in the set, similar to other Def based sets not having a heal) Slow resists & 40%+ DDR.. On a stalker it seems to work really well & on a unicorn Ice/Axe tanker it does excellent.. until.. it doesn't By the way, Icicles can be made nearly invisible using the colors provided in the costume creator.

Blaster Primary Comparison: Standard Environment Testing
Troo replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Blaster
It is comical seeing folks project a min/max focus and "I wanna skip to the end game" mentality onto the testing and the data collected. If someone wants to do their own testing, have at it. I would suggest using mission: "View your Future Memory" with standardized common IO slotting and power pool selections. Powersets are intended to have strengths and weaknesses. Builds are merely simple puzzles. IOs were intended to provide variety and enhance replay-ability while capitalizing on some corporate goals. Incarnates are another layer of the same. Thanks @Galaxy Brain for doing this work, laying out your findings so clearly, and adding some considerations beyond just pew pew. -
Best Route through the Game for Natural Origin?
Troo replied to Tath99's topic in General Discussion
If @Tath99 had not specified AT, power sets, and blue side preference there would be more room for suggestions. Elite is what this duo is looking for based on criteria: Prior to Issue 21, most heroes of natural origin would begin their adventures in Paragon City by contacting ELITE, an organization that specializes in working with heroes of natural origin. Heroes of natural origin will have either Susan Davies in Atlas Park or Derek Amberson in Galaxy City as their initial contact, depending on which zone he or she selects as his or her beginning zone. If they hadn't been specific, my go to suggestion for natural origin: Soldier of Arachnos and red side for more concentrated content. 'Natural' covers a wide swath of the game and obviously overlaps greatly. Example: Peacebringers are 'natural'. @Grouchybeast that looks like great info on enemy groups that could drop the requested SOs. Natural Drop Natural SOs and Natural/Technology DOs Arachnos, Cage Consortium Guards, Dockworkers, Family, Hellions, Knives of Artemis, Longbow, Luddites, Mooks, Paragon Police, Praetorians (Chimera, Tyrant), Prisoners, Rogue Island Police, Scrapyarders, Security Guards, Skulls, Warriors, Wyvern Player's origin Drop enhancements that match the recipient's origin 5th Column, Axis America, Council Empire, Hearts of Darkness, Neo-Shivans, Pandora's Might, Rogue Paragon Police, Rulu-Shin, Shadow Shard Reflections, Shining Stars, Turrets, Vanguard Shield, Vanguard Sword, all arch-villains, all Praetorian zone enemies (except "Praetorians") -
Thanks.. off to see what the Black Market has provided today.

Blaster Primary Comparison: Standard Environment Testing
Troo replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Blaster
yeaaaaah but then inspirations would need to be included for all sets not just fire. What you wrote is basically similar to: "If you included even 1 large red inspiration with each run Dark Blast would clearly crush the posted times. Dark Blast is the true damage king". Obviously an exaggeration and silly thing to try and say. -
No, no they don't. Congrats on your experiment. Spending resources on unintended edge cases.. that's just a silly expectation. There are a slew of things more pressing that effect more folks.
