  1. I really dont understand why anyone would try running a + lvl TF at that level unless at least one member was a well built exemped build able to likely solo it set for a larger team. However its important to understand that no one is really a tank at that level even a tank simply lacks too much of the tool kit one needs to take point solo against the likes of Vahz. best suggesting I can give is make a good set of franken slot low end IO bits to get the most out of a couple powers slots. Thats how Ive largely negated being stuck with such reckless pugs when running low end TFs. But frankly I rarely if ever run a posi at lvl. Id much prefer running exemped even as a mid 20s toon who has begun to be properly IO setted. At least the 2 ATO sets are imo a real must if you want to pug low lvl tfs and use whatever you can get rather then a sg/friend static team run. Thats part of the challenge ofcourse. You go in with a good well oiled team adn you can run at +4 with no big deal. a few supports running leadership. a stealth user with recall etc will take all the teeth out of even that dif.
  2. The primary focus for an SG is to bring band characters together. You wanting basically the perks of a solo base to easily sahre stuff among your alt army while still having the perk of a large social group are at odds. There is very little that needs to be shared. as its far more effective to sell everything and buy what you need for each character. Attuned IOs are the best way to go, and well worth the investment. a collection of lower teir attuned melee IO from various sets for franken slotting early on will make hand me downing between the various melee AT easy, same with ranged sets for blasters and the like. SGs are per character not account and if they where based on account how then would we be able to have characters in multiple SGs? Which is far more important in my book. Im glad you like the game and like to try all the different options but you have far too much to learn still clearly to be offering up all these limited in understanding ideas.
  3. Uhm bud your very first post is in my book so rude because of your attitude of know it allness and for passing judgement as if you are in a position to about an AT and power set, suggesting I am less cordial is laughable. You should be going to the specific AT forums first and asking for build advice not coming to general discussion and suggestion with click bait worthy topic titles. Especially if your in need of being gifted with knowledge. Yes if you forgo AOE attacks, because you lack an understanding of aggro in the game that is a YOU problem. The best defense is overwhelming offense every single time. The less time things live, the less time they can attack you, for def heavy classes, or classes without any inherent mitigation set that is an undeniable truth. However because I am by nature a mentor and teacher, Ill try to take pity on you and offer a few ideas. Stealth pool for phase shift, the ultimate oh shit button. If youve been hit hard but are still standing nothing better to give you breathing room and the option ro withdrawl or take in the situation and burn insps to get back into the fight asap. If you team often, Leadership pool for vengeance. Veng turns entire teams into tanks if someone falls. Being a more sneaky AT if played right you wont be the first person dropping. Heal Pool. If you are in need of healing, and again if you like to team the heal pool is especially handy. Its pretty SOP for those with stealth powers to take heal pool for res allie, and recall friend to evac downed friends from harms way before getting them on their feet, and for ghosting to end rooms to bring the team when running TFs in a timely manner. For your widow if teaming regularly, Id suggest heal pool up to res allie. Recall friend, likely the leadership pool for veng. As you have inherent stealth power wastinga pool on stealth for phase shift would be wasteful. Id suggest sorcery, rune of protection witha heavy global recahrge build will be up often and is a great way to get hardy in a hurry if you have gotten too much attention. In the future if you want a discussion, be more considerate in your thread titles, how you approach a topic, and keep your tone very humble and no nothing ish rather then act as if you have a finger on the pulse of an issue long time vets have someone not noticed.
  4. So straight power creep for stalkers then? Talk about not seeing the bigger picture. But Ill give another one. Blasters and their defiance. IT effects the first 2 powers in their prime and the first power in their 2ndary. While some ignore these powers, the skillful blaster knows how power the attacks that can be used even when effected by every kind of CC are in a heated fight.
  5. I cant even begin to imagine how they would be able to keep track of peoples current recipe inventory, salvage is a non issue not worth any effort to improve, and influence is very much no one elses business ever. You admit this is mainly because you want a way to keep track of your stuff across alts. Well ive a very simple fix for you, One Ive been using since I came to HC. Sell everything!. Dont bother with crafting, dont bother with hording. Its far more effective to just buy attuned sets that are always optimal for your level, Its cheaper to unslot them and pass them around if you upgrade to lvl 50 purple sets once you cap. Oh and a little tip for mailing stuff to yourself I have taught many who never thought of doing it. once you send yourself one mail, use the reply button on it to quickly create another mail to pop another enhancement in. Ive known many who had for their entire time on live been filling out each self email rather then doing that. makes mailing a full IO set way faster then typing out @whatever each time.
  6. Absolutely nothing in the lore of CoH suggest tech and magic have some diametric conflict like in say one of my favorite classic RPG Arcanum a tale of steamwork and magicka obscura, in that game tech and magic are very difficult to make use of on a single character. Not impossible however as there are even in that game schools of magic that function perfectly even with a max tech aptitude, one of them being the conveyance school and the spell telepot, which is kind of ironic considering this discussion here on travel powers. Robin still uses vehicles, a hover board is about the closest thing we have in this game to a vehicle we can use and Ive zero doubt batman/robin would use one. Considering the power of mass teleport tech we see used in game at the end of a mother ship raid to evac everyone up on the big ship fighting Its highly unlikely any single character could have enough mass to overwhelm the teleport tech. This doubles when no player no matter how they make their character is denied use of the mediport, which also proves that magic etc does not conflict with that tech. Id sooner buy a character having a phobia to transporters like Barclay in TNG. Funny enough most people who forgo travel powers in game are from what Ive encountered very meta gamer types who ignore taking them to fit in more useful combat powers and use the jetpack and various tricks like mish tp, team tp, and Oportal to get around in a timely manner.
  7. If I was anyone else you might have a point but I am by far the hardest core RP advocate on these forums. I even pissed off plenty of other RPers by pushing lore based RP in a thread, and again when i pushed immersion RP by encouraging the RP community to make a habit of turning off their target window on the screen, turning off player and mob name displays under options, and basically said that is how real role players should be playing to be more in the games world rather then just playing it. You seem to think your talking to some meta number cruncher. I live in Paragon when i log in, My characters know the streets and their home territory like few others. I can sit for hours at the bar in D rambling on about the games history from the pov of having been there as the games one immortal character known in coh lore. There is nothing about your posts that make you sound other then silly, the OP and title of this thread make you come off not as a lover of CoH but one of those who like to denigrate it while wearing a sheepskin of a true ardent CoX player. In other words your claim to be some lover of the work of art that is this game rings quite hollow. Your poor attempt to deflect my simple question typical of one who finds themselves without real reasons to support their position. In the game world of CoH even the most common citizen has access to mediport tech, This means no matter the origin, no matter the back ground concept of a character, teleport at the least is a viable travel power option. Likewise a hover board in a setting with such sci fi tech is basically just a scooter anyone could have, its not special, its not high tech, its not out of the realm for even john smith and ordinary joe to own one. And trying to act like its somehow special to take far too long to get between missions again makes you sound silly. I mean yeah when I play something solo like elder scroll games I use mods to fully disable fast travel and then use mods to get a semblance of it back via magic spells and houses with teleport features. Being a solo game if I want to spend endless hours exploring cool. as you said however when on a team the slowest person especially if every one else is getting to doors fast is dead weight. The way you sound in your posts it comes off as wanting everyone denied the option to travel fast, that you with rose tinted glasses yearn for an era where everyone had to waste precious minutes running around rather then actually playing the content. You are in the arena with the wrong berk if you think your going to have a leg to stand on when it comes to using RP or nostalgia as excuses to justify head in the sand behavior. But go on give me an example of a character concept that wouldnt under any circumstance have access to what in this setting be considered common and widely accessible technology? Because while its not the far future it is very sci fi, and if anything its the cars on the streets that are out of place in a city that has more in common with Star Trek and people being able to transport across the world casually.
  8. Rune of protection, bam right there a way while leveling to cope with CC if you cant handle break frees. most AT are vulnerable to CC, being nigh impervious to it is a perk of the defensive set using ATs. Support are suppose to be more vulnerable, be thankful the game AI isnt smart enough to ignore tanks and tear down those who heal buff like a smart foe would. And yes You babble on about IOs. they are a non factor when talking about balance as the game doesnt balance around the use of sets. They are a pure bonus above the games difficulty. And actually not everyone advocates for def from sets I certainly dont, soft def that can easily be shredded by def debuffing enemies has always beena newb trap in my book. Powers that ignore positional defense are few, but are not game breaking they are the natural paper to the rock of defense. Sappers are not that big a deal for the power sets meant to be able to endure such like regen and will power, or my beloved drain psyche using blaster that recovers end faster then a sapper can steal it. And as was suggested above, smart play aka tactical play means take out the mobs you fear the most first. Use steath, and hit the things your afraid of hard. I mean enxt your going to advocate for quantums to be removed from kheldian play entirely because they are unfair. Or see debuffing enemies removed because they negate all the soft def and res from IO sets that dont have the debuffing resistance of actual powers. You do understand the most powerful solo GM killers are controllers and offenders right? When an AT can single handedly kill the most powerful mob type in the game they do not need any buffing nor are they lacking because you dont know how to prioritize targets.
  9. 50% to all DMG RES? WTF! You think making them into super tanks wouldnt be OP? The fact you think them fragile tells me a lot about your build/play ability and its not complimentary. They are incredibly high DPS, good support, great levels of personal defense. I dont normally say this but seriously you need to learn how to COH rather then come here and try to suggest changes while clearly lacking even a modest understanding of the game. These constant bad idea posts of yours are going to undermine anything you ever say on these forums should you stick around and actually become competent. Because right now the only reason Ive not ignored you is because your utterly laughable. Your basically a forum jester at this point because nothing you say has any resemblance to an actual fact.
  10. I just swing by my base and use the empowerment station to grab all the little useful buffs. good way to keep salvage from maxxing out I find.
  11. That is about as lacking in substance as a statement as Ive ever seen on the forums. It certainly isnt answering my very simple direct question, why wouldnt you take a travel power? The reason they made them accessible sooner was because as was brought up over and over, for characters from supermans flight to flashes speed are the core of their power set. A character like Angel of the X men is entirely his flight. So aside from RP reasons, why wouldnt you take a travel power or P2W vehicle like the board which is applicable to just about any concept? I am all about immersion so you need to actually communicate rather then blather. Nor act like using them is some kind of crutch. Ive done my fair share of wall climbing using ledges and air conditioners in KR with nothing but combat jumping. It has a certain novelty but its not something Id call fun. So again I ask, why wouldnt you take a travel power or use a vehicle esque P2W power if your character doesnt have actual powers? Heck they added rocket boot and tech wing cosmetics back on live to again let those who didnt want flight to seem some inherent super ability be seen as device based. Within the lore of the game teleportation is tech based and every time you hosp youve used sucha device so TP is very very much something withing lore that everyone has some access to.
  12. You know I feel compelled to ask why wouldnt you use a travel power? Is it due to RP, because as an RPer I do get concept over meta, however especially on support toons, recall friend, stealth, and super speed by 14 was basically expected meta for supporting a team and making things like TFs go fast. Hell even my blasters, scrappers etc who I regularly ran TFs with tended to take those if they fit within the RP concept. fortunately since a lot of my characters are mages or psions all those powers easily fit into the concept. and now days well most of us are using double xp to zoom through early content even if running mishes or street sweeping. aint no one got time to waste 3 min getting to a door mish that will take less then that to finish unless its a clear all mob map. If you want a thematic group that doesnt use travel powers etc that shouldnt be hard to create a static SG team that meets up a few times a week to play like. Ive seen a great rise in that very approach on HC many people are doing such, so seek out some like minded and play how you want. Because yes when you pug you cant control who you get and if you are dead weight thats a you issue not a game issue. Bad players/character builders do exist and you seem to be coming off more as a bad player that is mad that others are not willing to dumb down their approach to what you are comfortable playing like. I lead TFs almost every day I play. and its not uncommon for there to be those who are in fact useless to the part because they are slow, dont have powers that let them be more adaptable and useful to a myriad of situations, etc. But only when they start QQing like you about how they need to remake their build or yearn for an era when everyone couldnt grab a jet pack etc do they end up ignored and never allowed on my runs again. I dont demand people be good at the game, just good company. I really am having a hard time understanding your actual position because you havent givena good reason not to take a travel power early. Nor to forsake P2W. After all for science and tech and natural using things like jet packs to fly make more sense then having it naturally. Likewise the hover board/skiff. And why do you want to take so much time between door mishes anyways? because again if it was some kind of pride thing sneaking slow across a zone like the hollow, well as I always say people should not ever feel things like pride nor take a sense of accomplishment from gaming. Play for fun, not to boost your ego.
  13. Since I fimrly believe every set should havea flaw that needs help being covered I dont see dark melees to hit debuffing or a swords parrying as anything other then logical pairing. Parry also protects from letahl dmg no matter how it comes, so for example you can benefit from it against a myriad of lethal based ranged/aoe attacks attacks. When you can keep it easily triple stacked your def will be very substantial to a great number of attacks from a large variety of mobs, that is ofcouse why dark is the most meta and optimal pairing because everything becomes less effective by dark debuffs making them whiff endlessly. MoG pairs well with dark because you can use mog to charge in and have the buffer to stack the to hit debuffing so you have nothing to fear. And yes I will tell anyone who uses regen but thinks its not a monster of a set that they either need to learn how to use it better. With heavy global recharge its very unlikely you will ever have your regen overwhelmed by inc dmg, and there isnt a big bad in the game that can one shot a perma dull pained scrappers HP. Keep in mind a scrappers job is one on one with big bad AVs, a blasters job is to wipe out the masses. For that job of taking on big bads one on one I have never met one that threatens a regen that is built and played well. So yes if someone has a regen, but feels they cant handle some AV or solo just about all content with ease I will say they are not good at building/playing regen. That isnt an insult to a player, not every player is good with every AT/power set. Many players for example I know are not good at keeping an eye on cooldowns, or using active and reactive powers, they favor toggle heavy sets and very small attack chains of 2-3 powers because that is what they need to play well and not feel overwhelmed or distracted from the game by monitering their power bar. So far as I can tell all the ones saying regen isnt that good or inferior to WP are those kind of players that simply dont want to deal with numerous clicky powers in their 2ndary. This is imo the only truth to why they see WP as superior to regen, because for how they play it certainly is. How I control my character is I tend to have between 6-9 power trays open, my thumb buttons on my mouse cover the attack powers while I actively mouse click on every other ability as needed. That is no matter what AT/power set I have because I collect temp powers and like to keep them ready to use no matter what lvl my toon is playing at. I know a great many players that cant imagine using more then 1 active power tray. Hell I see players all the time bitch about not being able to make more then one power auto fire where as I have never even remotely found that to be an issue. Hence why some players hate sets like SR with a clicky mez power and think such are inferior to toggle mez when they are imo the superior form of mez pro. So obviously different people/gamers and their personal approach to how they control their character can dictate heavily what they see as good and bad. Im not calling herc a bad gamer, but I am saying it sounds like they are a bad match for a set like regen and should stick to WP as for concepts they are basically interchangable if RP is a factor, if not then def WP or any other toggle heavy set. Because the only real change Id love to see to regen, is their mez pro power made into a clicky to better fit with the rest of the set.
  14. many a year ago on live one of the great math gurus of the forums broke down the different blaster primaries of the day, and showed how theya re all within a few % of each other in general. Even the king Fire doesnt really deal much more then any other in the average game play. However in a drawn out fight against a strong target like an AV and especially a GM then Fire and Sonic are the two undisputed kings of blaster dmg. This is because ofcourse during those fights every fire dot will run its full course, and the -Res of sonic will lead to a far great amount of dmg dealt over a longer drawn out fight. In fact sonic/mental was basically the most powerful meta build for a blaster back on live. It was just capable of so much debuffing while offering blaster strong dmg and psy scream is basically a light nuke in the 2ndary it while still no GM soloing Offender build was capable of more then any other possible blaster combo and in the hands of the skilled player addictive power hard to not want to use all the time. In fact it was only my role play concept for ol berk that made me make a psi/ment blaster my primary and delete my own decked out sonic/ment monster. Yes I deleted many maxxed blasters over the years on live and kept only my ol berk as while psi/ment is fun, effective and never lacking it wasnt such intoxicating power that would lead me to ignore all other toons for months on end like sonic/ment was. So yes if you play on teams, and especially if you play on higher dif settings sonic is easily one of the best options you could take as a blaster primary.
  15. Some other things to keep in mind, Regen has recovery few other sets can compare with, this lets them use leadership toggles better then most. This means vengeance is an easy grab, since leadership has 2 powers that can take lotg recharge specials its really a pool worth taking, and a regen should be leading the charges fearlessly and pushing a pace that will likely get others killed now and then to veng off of. Sets with self res like regen are also expected to be downed more often then other sets by design. Frankly Im not sure why people have an issue with getting incapped now and then, especially self rezzers, wolverine and other comic characters best moments are pretty much always begun with getting beat down. Oh and I myself do not use non attuned IO sets, honestly on the HC servers the cost is really not any higher then crafting non attuned yourself especially when you factor in mat and time costs. So exemping is not any kind of big deal. I literally sell every drop and liquidate every merit into inf, it keeps the game time almost entirely as actively playing or RPing and hanging out. No need to horde, no need to do anything but just enjoy the actual game. Now if you all really think regen some super bad set well your not alone, it became a common and very wrong impression many had after Will Power was added. Funny enough most will power users also tend to be bad at the game. They tend to be the rush in without thought and want to face tank everything and think the game is bad when they cant types ime. Will Power to me is a tank set, but the vast majority of WP users Ive seen on live and on HC face plant more then bad regen users. But its all about synergy between the primary and 2ndary. I keep saying this and people keep ignoring it, every set by design has an optimal pairing. For regen its got a few, kat,bs, regen, ma, claws all pair extremely well with regen built around heavy global recharge. Oh and ofcourse scrappers dont dish it out like mass murder blasters in end game. Thats not some flaw, thats not imbalance. A scrapper should have to spend much more time then a blaster wiping out hordes, thats why they get the defense set not another dmg set as a 2ndary. I mean its not some mystery, if your biggest interest is big numbers on big groups play a blaster. My scrappers are first and foremost all AV killer builds, my blasters can typically solo some AVs but not every one of them in the game let alone as many as a dozen at once like a Dark/SR scrapper can. I can promise you when i run an inc trial on a scrapper the DPS is very relevant in the beat down phase of the big bads, and judgement exists to wipe out large groups of trash. I mean its not a solo thing, not everyone needs to be a mass murder build to bring something useful to the trial. Regen is actually one of the best designed and best balanced sets in the game, it can be great or it can be garbage depending on the builder/player using it. Its not an auto I win button, but it also isnt some newb trap power set. It pairs with a wider range of offense sets then many other offense sets which is makes it really quite newb friendly.
  16. I just feel so bad for you. I had to teacha few regen scraps just how wrong they are about it just as you are. Im truly not trying to be cobative nor insulting though it may seem otherwise but I beseech ye to take the time to read what Ill explain here and hopefully awaken your regens to their godly power. A regen character should focus exclusively on global recharge set bonuses. They are so click heavy any other set bonus theme like resistance or soft defense is utterly wasted. Regen like every set has optimal partners. The most prominent being dark melee. Maybe you didnt follow the old forums much but the two single most amazing feats of one on many AV killing ever shown using AE where a dark/sr, anda dark regen build. Each fully capable of defeating more then 10 AVs at once. Regen needs little to thrive, give it a wee bit of breathing room and few foes can bring one down, and even if they should a skilled regen user will be able to self res and use MoG to give them the time to re establish control of the fight or fall back and make a new plan as needed. Dark melee does this through to hit debuffs, the single sword sets do this through parry buffing up melee and lethal def enough many enemies become unable to land a hit on them. Because of the heavy focus on global recharge your attack chain will consist of your two end attacks and parry on a set like BS. But really truly dark regen is easily among the top end scrapper builds one can make. There is no AV they cant easily solo defeat. I can recall one friend I taught this too back on live who said after a shadow shard TF something to the effect of, Ive never run a shadow shard tf without hesitating against all the debuffing enemies, not until this toon that you helped me respec from a coward to a dark demon that fears nothing. he eventually retired that dark regen because he said it literally made the game too easy no matter the challenge, and made all other possible toons feel too weak by comparison so he had become addicted to it and could only make other toons by swearing off it completely. So I say this truly not trying to be rude, antagonistic, nor with any insult. If you think regen unfit for lvl 50 play, and incarnate content, that is entirely on you and your ability to build and play a character. Because I swear to you by all I hold dear, regen is a top teir 2ndary, and likely was the true king until dethroned by the OP bio armor.
  17. Id retitle this, most players sucked and not feel unkind saying such about this threads OP considering his title choice. Many of those that jumped ship for champions when it launched expressed the kind of attitude the OP displays here. Using snide insults like city of sidekicks, and city of cool downs as ways to attack the game as inherently flawed. My first character was a elec/fire blaster and imo those who hated cool downs should of started as blasters, you usually had more attacks then you could chain together by the time you could get a proper travel power. hasten was very popular for so many then because it let them feel more active in fights. It also made them burn blue so fast they then complained about needing to take a knee after every fight. From what I saw when i played both champions now and then when taking a breather from coh, the anti coh group there basically couldnt stand not having buttons to hit, and hence why they loved that game more because virtually everything there is spammable. My toons there rarely took more then 3 attack powers because that was about all you needed to be powerful in a fight, and left plenty for sustaining and mitigation. Now I love me temp powers, more for how they let us expand and fill out rp concepts then anything else here. My batman types collect all the grenade powers and throwing devices etc. But no at launch, during year one, even during the dark days after ED before the coming of IO sets the game had no real competition in the MMO scene because it was the best comic hero mmo, and one of the better comic hero games in general on the market. I dont really know why people expect to feel like gods at lvl 1 in any mmo. Yes we started out as sidekick street soldier types, but if you felt like a sidekick by lvl 40 that was a you issue not a game issue.
  18. Psi/ment advocate here. Psi primary is among the best prim sets for a blaster. Even the single highest psi res mobs in the game have much lower res then the vast majority of mobs have against the likes of fire dmg. Psi primary can go with a lot fairly well, and can offer a good mix of dmg and soft cc. Psi tornado maybe even more then the nuke is imo the sets real key ability, few mobs can keep their feet against it and it can on a high rcharge build be endlessly spammed locking down huge swaths of foes when playing at a dif setting a team cant just nuke wipe room after room. it can make you the key protector of squishier character on teams. I cant even begin to count how many times Ive kept an over confident blaster, brute or even tank alive by just making every mob around bounce up and down endlessly. Mental 2ndary is the natural partner but really any are viable for a fun build, maybe not a meta build but viable enough that if you optimize it, it should make you feel good even in end game content.
  19. Here is why this is actually not that good of an idea. The reward merits for TFs are based on the average time they take to complete, and while yes your idea would shorten the team time average to clear those, it would also mean having to change that lovely merit reward likely to something low enough many people would never want to repeat it just for fun or to help others out without feeling rewarded for their time. Keep in mind HC is also more solo friendly so this change wouldnt even help soloists and small groups and imo any change should take into account both teams and solo players. Likely a new revamped numina tf while putting the old in the flashback roster would be the best compromise but also demand the most effort of our limited dev team. Now frankly imo that would be a great use of dev time, a revamp all the old tfs to the new penny yin standard of short sweet and just enough merits to make it worth re running to help others. Maybe one each update and update the story to 2019 while we are at it. Now that I think about it wouldnt that be a neat way to re order the flashback system as well, attach certain content to certain years. Considering how many seem to ae farm and stick toa single locale, maybe we should introduce Ozone as part of the tutorial, make time travel be more central to the over all game etc. Be more Legends of tomorrow and make the tutorial involve being pulled from a certain death as a young hero and given the chance to become the hero of destiny, could even tie the whole well thing into it. I mean we all know how much chaos the timeline and content eras of the game have made it something of a crey crey mess especially for the role players trying to connect lore, and content to their origins story. Imagine if at the end of the tutorial you are taken to the ozone, and you basically can use the hub as a way to return to the world and explore it at various points in time. The only real issue I see with this is its not really pug friendly with the whole way we lock teams in on tfs and flashbacks. Which leads to another tangent. what if we did away with end merit rewards and instead broke them up as rewards for each mish in the arcs and tfs, and got rid of the whole team lockin? That way sure if someone joins just for the end av they wont get a big reward, but neither will those who have RL tear them away mean no rewards for time given and leaving a team short a body.
  20. Oh your quite right, likely confused them since they sound so much alike Id bet the house on them both being socks of another poster.
  21. First off maybe try taking down the tude just a notch eh bud? I mean I strive to come off as an arrogant sob here on these forums and yet manage to be civil. Now maybe you played every blaster set in every possible combo to cap back in the day. I actually did, and thankfully despite the massive amounts of no nothing bad blaster players on the old forums the devs in general had a pretty good tendency to listen to the handfuls that clearly understood and loved the game in equal measure. The issue with old defiance is it was not fit for good play, group play, nor did it mix well with some powers in some blaster sets like drain psyche in mental for example. The main goal for all inherents was to make them as useful to the widest spectrum of builds in an AT as possible. At that same time players like myself kept on with the battle to see blasters as a warrior AT given some measure of self sustainability to more of its power sets. As we see that eventually also hit home with the devs and we saw more sets for blasters get self healing added. Now I actually do get where you are coming from prior to defiance v2 a lot of really bad ideas got suggested on the forums and compared to many of those bad ideas original defiance was preferred and I myself initially championed just leaving it alone if they couldnt come up with something actually useful to most possible blaster builds. Virtually all my blasters in those old days tended to be at max debt because I mainly soloed and refused to play corner pull kite coward tactics in a game about super heroes. So i came to embrace old defiance. but it was also a large reason why many bad blasters came into being and how the meme of blasters being super squishy grew to such a common view it basically made blasters unwanted in groups when a few scrappers could clear any content at crey crey speed. Defiance v2 actually is useful to just about every possible blaster build. Its dmg boost while modest benefits active engagment rather then self harm and super charge snipes. Something that for a time was pretty common street hunting for bosses that conned purple, a accuracy insp or two, a self harm long drop from the sky and a snipe to insta end the big guy. For solo blasters especially it was very common to play that way for average blasters to play that way to lvl up safely because they feared debt so bad. Now if they wanted to add a way to let someone like yourself have the choice if such is possible, cool no ish from me. However your title, OP and general attitude on display make it seem as if your desire is to see modern defiance rolled back entirely and anyone that doesnt feel that way be damned. Had you taken the time to write something civil, with a desire to discuss rather then dictate perhaps you would have better success in future posts. And bloody right I am giving a lecture, playing an old windbag of an immortal mentor is basically what I love to do most in this game.
  22. Not to be rude but you really seem to not understand the game mechanics. Let me put it this way. Im on an SR scrapper. Each foe has to live long enough to get its own x number of attacks off to trigger streak breaker. Since no foe will live long enough to get that many attacks off, its moot. Its that simple. Like with any 2ndary, its about not giving mobs the chance to wear through it. Its also why teams with a number of front liners seem to do so much better, they constantly are trading aggro, making it very rare any given foe sticks to one target long enough to trigger streak breaker. Oh and FYI when you say something super wrong like a regen tank, you basically pull the rug out from under your own feet when it comes to credibility.
  23. Regen is a one size fits all kind of 2ndary. It doesnt exactly have a big gap weakness like other scrapper 2ndary. Sure a few foes have healing debuffs but its not widespread. Regen like every other power has an optimal partner, average partners, and a bad partner. Regen doesnt really need help because regen since launch to now is one of the most powerful partners in AV solo killing scrapper builds. Be it dark, kat/BS, or claws all have very good reasons to be paired with regen, and will make a god killer scrapper. For those not fond of current regen, who wish it was more toggle heavy, there are many toggle 2ndarys out there. regen is well loved by players like myself that want the active/reactive nature of a regen. It partners better then most sets with a heavy global recharge set focus. Which compliments both regens powers, and lets a scrapper use its strongest attacks in a tight little loop at end game.
  24. I love fly, and mystic flight as well. They are far more useful tactically then other travel powers and thus rightfully lacks abit of speed in the name of balance. Frankly I dont get the need for speed some on COH have. To be honest there are better games out there for that itch. I play warframe for example when I want fast smooth action game play. I play CoH specifically for its slower oldschool play style. Especially if you play a ranged character, having Hover for many who stay out of melee range is a build must.
  25. Yeah no, anyone playing a blaster who does not appreciate how powerful it actually is simply isnt that good at playing a blaster. When one builds taking into account the fact the first 3 powers you take as a blaster can be used even when under a barrage of numerous CC using mobs, then not unlike scrappers, tankers, etc you can fight on. Yes if you basically ignore your single target attacks because your all about mass trash killing then sure it wont seem that handy. But when your one on one with a big bad CC using AV, the only blasters soloing that are the ones that dont fear the CC. And I am talking about leveling blaster play not only end build Incarnate blasters.
