  1. upside the bow and arrow from croatoa is one of the easier ones to reget and has a decent amount of charges, so even if you do attack with it now and then its not hard to keep this specific temp power on you.
  2. Might just be a balance choice. Brutes no matter the sets are already among the most reliable ATs to use in solo and team play. They are able to use a set like regen that is denied to tanks for balance reasons historically. I mean HC team already tweaked procs to kill proc monster builds which brutes were a major user of with certain sets plus being able to use the taunt procs as well on a AT that with dury and a team will likely hit its dmg cap even without setting for raw dmg in the attacks. Not saying it really is a balance issue imo mind you. I doubt it would lead to any meaningful power creep but you never can really tell until you can try it in action.
  3. I put me larges in storage at the club for all to use. I mean if you in an SG with people you actually like, do you really need to hoarde insps? a few insp storage units and every active member storing those they dont need, like for example my scrappers are always putting heals and cc pr larges in for any to use as needed. This is starting to come across as people who want the perks of a large SG for the advantages it brings, but dont want to share anything of theirs with the SG.
  4. Yeah just come up with a name with a few lower case Ls in it then you can use the upper case i trick to makea few AT variants while keeping a single character for RP concept. I have 4 bentley Berkeley's for example as well as a Professor Berkeley. Alt builds take their own Enhancements anyways so its not really any cheaper just abit of time leveling up the new alts.
  5. I myself for a long time have felt they need a weapon based pool set for every weapon type to allow greater customization. As well as some attack animation variants for the current pool attacks. I do not think any of these weapon based pools should include any kind of defensive toggles. They should be entirely offensive, with the closest exception being for example a sword pool would have parry as its a minor dps attack that actively reduces ones DPS to have it be part of an attack rotation. Honestly thats how weapons should of been done in the first place as a mixture of pools, temp powers, etc. Because a super strong guy should be able to grab a giant sword etc.
  6. There is a far easier way, just sale everything. There is nothing really worth hoarding, make what you cant when its easy, sale off the rest, buy what you need as needed. I was an active and avid crafter/hoarder of all set bits on live. Now I just sale everything, liquidate merits to sale as well, and buy attuned IO sets as needed for alts. Only the first toon at all struggles, once you havea 50 inf flows more then fast enough to keep every toon you make in at least common IOs.
  7. Maybe not all but really there is no good reason most temp powers found through out the game cant also be bought at P2W. ! we need more INF sinks and this would help that, 2 very few temp powers especially the attack ones are strong enough to be called power creep. The few actual good ones like the emp grenades from striga are so fast and easy to reget while picking up a few merits and witha build up are basically a robot nuke basically counter the idea they are power creep because then they would obviously remove the ability to re get them or even get them in the first place. Weapon related powers especially should be sold at P2W for flavor at the very least, ideally witha few alt skin options for the bows, guns, swrods, and even the baton accolade power should all have p2w temp power options. I also think making us be able to buy charges for day job accolade powers would be a good inf sink. Id also suggest new side kick temp powers based on NPCs. like low tier ones could be the shining stars, mid tier could be characters like doc delilah etc. cheap enough to be actively used but pricey enough by being actively used it helps bleed out some inf from the economy.
  8. Uhm I could be fuzzy on this as its beena while since Ive read up on the liberty ladies, but I could of sworn the first liberty and her 2 heirs drew their power from the artifact Hera's Girdle. Statesman was a gods avatar, he was indicated several times to be ageless and even immortal prior to the ritual draining his power away. Nothing I can recall reading suggest the power passed on.
  9. Im not the one who began the tradition of dev game avatar. I had regular interaction back on live with Infernal and Ghost Falcon, the in game characters very much were each the personal pet of the dev behind the avatar and yes that is why we see such ego from Statesman because that was Jack, and why they chose to kill him off in a rather pathetic and obvious trap, Jack was not very well liked the those who became Paragon after they broke off from NC soft. Its not some mystery that a number of coh heroic icons are at best barely deserving of being called hero. Blue Steel is a perfect example and should have been punished for what he did to the teen age boy who would become the clockwork king, but was basically given a free pass for being one of statesman's crew. Meanwhile the Mistress of the carnival of shadows, whose major early crime was avenging a friend who would not otherwise of had justice because of the power and connections protecting the scum. The carnival in general is more a vigilante/rogue group and mainly only does harm to the wealthy elite men that get away with abusing women. Vanessa was a far greater instrument in saving the world from the initial rikti assault, yet not given a pass because she was not a part of the main hero teams. Not to mention unless you are pro Zeus, or think a god raping mortal women is ok, and prior to the whole well of furies incarnate fine tuning near the end of live, the idea was statesman was indeed fighting for control of his body with said deity. That is why Cole couldnt draw on his full power because more power less control. Really there isnt all that much in lore to make characters like Staresman all that likeable. I mean I cant think of any lore really that does, can you? Simply fighting bad guys and saving the day isnt enough in my book to like him.
  10. As has been pointed out in previous posts asking about this, it is apparently contrary to the coding of how bases are. They are kind of like pocket dimensions and not in the same game world space as the zones we can access the AH from. Really the only other fix seems to be to remove the /ah feature so people have to use the wentworths again. At least then people would stop asking for the command to be usable everywhere. Just yesterday i had a guy griping about not being able to /ah in mish to by a wakie insp. Because yes some people actually do want to be able to shop while in mish.
  11. I generally consider it 2013. I tend to consider any character with access to Ourobros to no longer be living a linear existence. When I rerun content I enjoy I just chalk it up to another mending. However it can vary based on character concept, RP partners, and in general is best left unspoken. Each of my characters has their own starting point, some have their ending point. I consider my namesake character to meet his fate by using his immortality to sate Mot and free the world from his endless hunger. As a time traveler and immortal an end is as far off as you want it to be.
  12. Very common mistake. MM were the original red side counterpart to the tank. brutes to scrappers. Its blaster/stalkers that are the odd match up but both are top DPS specialists in their own way. But an MMs first job is to soak up aggro and take the hits via their pets, and their 2ndary role was to support teams. Its just much like offenders, offensive MMs grew popular to solo with. As to the OP. So many treat regen as inferior to WP, but its really not. Bio on the other hand, now that one is tough to compete with due to its flexible nature.
  13. Lad lad lad you wrote a lot but didnt seem to say much other then blather on about your personal politics. My anti Statesman view dates back to year one. and solidified into a long running RP pov after the whole ED thing. Understand I approved of ED and other changes but loathed Jacks heavy handed and often deceptive approach and interaction with the player community. Thus began my digging into the lore of every so called heroic NPC to push their flaws and failings first and foremost when talking about them. No matter how one wants to spin it, behavior like Sister Psyches extending her life by using anothers body has long been held as an act of ultimate evil in comics and old school RPGs like D&D. Statesman might be a flawed man, and he might be barely clinging to some self control and humanity, but he is also the phsyical avatar of a god( aka energy parasite in coh) that our RL myths( which are historical fact in coh) time and again highlight Zeus forcing himself on helpless mortals. While you can dismiss the city of sidekicks nick name, it was a long standing one, and a point of contention with in the vocal forum base that they wanted story arcs and NPCs to stop being treated has miles above their own characters. The sig story arcs show the devs like Posi had far less of the big head issue that Statesman had. Frankly you can keep your personal views and RL politics to yerself. Go watch some Jordan Peterson or some other vile bile spewer.
  14. Frankly I am with you on this one. If they can be added to our list of options, and have been on another server, then they should enable them here.
  15. Pardon me while I gag. But seriously Statesman was the avatar of a vile rapist of a god. Sister Psyche was a body thief. No matter the attempts at portraying them as good and heroic, the fact is both of these characters are better off dead as neither really represents an icon worthy character. You all dont seem to be aware of one of the more common negative nicknames for coh city of sidekicks, it was the over hyped up characters like States and Sis that helped created that sense in some players. Bad enough CCs are now held at the statue of Statesman in KW. Likely why I barely bother to go attend them to see costumes and read bios now days as I cant stomach the sight of that Tyrant State.
  16. Where to begin. First never give two spits about the team on a Psi/ment when they ask you to hold back or adapt to them. No you rush in first getting drain psyche on, you will be invis so they never see you coming. With drain psyche on a fat group your rocking regen levels of self healing. You have endless blue so you can spam anything you want. Dont like KB attacks dont take them, best thing about blasters is more attacks then one can ever rotate so take what you like. Psi Tornado is great aoe dps and CC, few mobs can keep their feet against it and it can be spammed over several groups rapidly locking down whole rooms. Psy scream should be built as CC as well not DPS, WoC is great, look at it as an anti melee shield for when things get too close. Due to your nuke, your drain psyche, and psy scream your meant to be in melee range like few other blasters. No your not a blapper, your a point blanking mage tank. Force Mastery is my ideal. Drain psyche will maintain its recovery boost through a force of nature crash, I love phase shift as a quick oh sit button. better then eating dirt to nuke rez with pheonix imo, as more often then not the user just face plants again and ends up doing less over all DPS then the one who knows how to go defensive for a few seconds now and then. If you cant make a Psi/Ment blaster feel godly your likely not cut out for blasters as a AT.
  17. There is imo a difference between Min/Maxxing and fine tuning a build to be optimal, its a fine one but it does exist in my pov. Minimizing ones weaknesses while maximizing ones powers is obviously what minmax means but what does doing that mean? It means putting the META first and foremost. It starts with primary and 2ndary power choice picks, sometimes further guides by some high end build combo you are aware of and wish to build towards. Some builds exploiting certain epic/ancillary pools are known for this late game blooming. Further every power pick is taken based entirely on some meta plan like soft capping res and def. But not every great build is a meta build. Many great builds are born as RP and concept builds. Powers taken because of flavor or the sheer fun of it, pools picked to flesh out an idea rather then to reach some specific metric. However once one hits 50 with such builds its not at all uncommon to take stock, ponder what powers you rarely if ever use, what situations you struggle in, and thus what powers you could drop and take that still fit your concept. Maybe you want to move slots around, like you put a full set in invisibility find you only use it when stealthing adn dont really need all those slots there and move them around etc. Thats fine tuning.
  18. First of all its not merely a seldom chosen power. %wise its practically a never taken power, like so never taken no other power in the history of seldom used powers even begins to rival it. Thanks for the hyperbolic fix suggestion. We have been very careful in our discussion on possible changes to even if going against the cottage rule, try to avoid going against the spirit and even name of the power. When I hear the word confront, I myself do indeed picture rushing up into someones face because they have done something wrong and deserving of confrontation. We also have been trying to come up with something fresh and different for scrappers while finding a way to make use of existing mechanics. Many games, including CoHs special little sibling champions, make use of gap closer moves for their melee to have a chance to compete with ranged, this is especially true in pvp, and Ive seen no few PvPers QQing about the dominance of kiting ranged builds in HCs pvp scene. Many of these games gap closers come with a form of rooting or speed debuffing to make it very hard to escape a melee once they are on you. Your agreeing or not about it needing a change is frankly way way too late. The Devs themselves have taken notice of the player use stats and fully plotting on changing it, hence threads like this discussing possible changes. You need to accept that, a change is coming, the question is what shape that change will take.
  19. It seems you are coming into this thread quite out of the loop. Its the Devs themselves that have made the lack of use of confront and its dire need to be changed a topic. After a number of threads since it seems this idea caught the interest of this threads OP enough to champion it. As the OP has said there is no need to even debate confront needing a fix, that has been determined a given. Most seem to concur that due to going rogue, brutes now fill the role of alt aggro magnet and that scrappers need something new, and unique to them to help define the whole arch type. Many then seemed to agree that charge abilities for melee units are so common across games that it would be a logical universal thing to drop in. Now Im not saying this is the best idea though I certainly dont think it a bad one. But i am saying that some of the combative and disruptive posts acting as if this discussion is premature come off as late to the larger discussion.
  20. The Midnight Club is generally seen as a heroic SG but we do mostly operate as vigilantes/rogues going red side for certain magical themed SFs. We are a casual RPSG of a magical theme meant to be the player half of the midnighter game faction. Drop by our base midnight-5936 sometime if curious.
  21. Khelds, especially Nictus def had a touch of the lovecraftian to them. Shouldnt be a surprise, Jack was big on D&D, and D&D has Lovecraft as one of its unsung god fathers. We see a number of those themes, The elder gods like Tilekku and Mot. The ancient lost and now unknown civilizations like Mu and Atlantis, and the creatures from the Deep like the coralax and their alien goddess. Ruluruu, the dream doctor, and the midnight club all have aspects that can certainly be in step with a lovecraftian. Likely why a few characters Ive recruited to the midnight club are homages to lovecraft. FYI though Lovecraft was a terrible racist. I mean yes that was partly a product of his time, but some of his stories like the one about Arthur German shows he had a deep issue with the idea of the Other. He was a brilliant writer though imo, not everything he wrote was tops but some of his best stuff is just above the cut. Personal fave is The Case of Charles Dexter Ward along with The Shadow over Innsmouth.
  22. From some things I recall from talk about these origin pools back on live was that they wouldof been pay for access/subscriber only, and also inherents tied to a characters origin. Now obvious the way HC has released them piecemeal style and let us pick them changes both these things fundamentally. The question is then would we rather have the powers free as inherents but tied to origin, Or as is with flexability but costs us power picks and slots. Personally Im also all for the old 4 pool limits being removed completely if possible. Now they could if possible of course tie access and the inherent pool granting to whichever of the origin attack powers you use, so if you do want to change the inherent you could just revoke and swap at P2W.
  23. One of the things I keep coming back to in my pondering is does this need to be a full AT with many different flavors of sniper to pick from, after all ultimately the blast sets already do this well enough that sniper builds while not meta or widely popular have always been around with some modest and consistent representation among the player base. However this then lead me to another pondering. Would it be easier going forward for our volly dev team to instead of making ATs the likes of sent etc to instead create new singular ATs like the heroic and villain ATs? For example what if instead of this massive bit of work instead we saw the release of 2 new VEAT The Crey and Nemesis Snipers? They could get access to the unique costume bits for nemmy and crey, likely be easier to build and balance only having 2 variations rather then many power set flavors. Already are part of the game lore, so are not trying to force something not exactly in line with the setting and genre into the game. Another pondering, when I think about it, a player sniper should almost be a 2ndary for MM. Providing far back fire support for your minions would be a logical play approach for MM imo.
  24. Something else that was niggling at the back of me knoggin, and which I dont even like to have to bring up but the HC devs have made it clear must be taken into account on matters of balance is PVP. An AT with extreme range, top end ranged dps for single targets, and the ability to break aggro and stealth away would be the ideal for the pvp kiting sniper type play so loathed by melee players across the mmo pvp genre. Stalkers are already rightly feared in the pvp zones by the less armored ATs. This AT would basically making those who like to camp the other sides entrance base have a very easy time taking out the lone wanderers who come to bloody bay for shivan shards and the like.
  25. None of those you cite qualify as a Sniper AT each would be a blaster or sentinal or more likely need a free form system like in champions to properly reflect. Batman is a stalker not a scrapper. A scrapper is the likes of wolverine fighting through the hellfire guard during the dark pheonix saga. Batman and other such mortel men types need to use stealth and subterfuge to make up for their vulnerable bodies. Also in most games were a long range option akin to sniping exists mobs usually have a very high perception range so someone cant simply sit back and pick them off. Distance is already in itself a very strong defense. Hover tanking exists because of that very issue being too easy to exploit. And as I said above my personal best sniper build is alsoa brutal up front dark/bio scrapper. Blasters dont have anything like Soul Drain, and stalkers get stuck with build up. IMO a sniper AT would literally need to be able to one shot anything short of an AV to be worthy of being called such, and thus would likely be too OP for the game. Ive got stalkers that can 3 hit some EBs reliably. And that is at the risk of melee range. How would you balance an AT that could from long range do something even that comparable in single target DPS?
