Doing Television's arc redside, and I'm inside the horror movie to get rid of the Freakshow who have somehow been sucked into it. Metal Smasher: "'No, let's just watch some movies tonight,' you said! Metal Swiper: "Dude, I had NO idea! Metal Smasher: "Well, at least there's some violence in here to sate our media-shortened attention spans."

That works. I usually screenshot these things so I remember to share them later, as opposed to sharing them immediately when I see them.

After I rescued this hacker from the Hellions (screenshotted because I didn't feel like trying to type out his name):

Well, here is Colores Secundarios in all her glory. She received the same insult Primarios heard from a Skull about her costume burning his eyes, and she probably deserved it more than Primarios did :P Not gonna bother posting Neutrales - her costume is identical to the other two, but in black/gray/white.

I'm not who you were asking (and my comments here are probably better suited to their own thread), but I honestly have a hard time playing redside as a villain altogether. Part of the problem is that this game commits a RPG no-no: It constantly tells me how my character feels and what his/her motivations are. I can put up with this when I play blueside, because at the very least I typically agree with the motivations/feelings, and I would like to imagine that I would do the same things my character does if I had real superpowers. (I mean, my main characters in WoW were paladins, and the first characters I've rolled in every other MMORPG I've tried have been whatever that game had that was closest to a paladin.) Redside, though, seems to consistently want to paint my villains as mustache-twirling degenerates who commit evil for sake of being evil. The game won't let me decide for myself why my villain is a villain. Back on live, however, I did have one "fascist" character. He was a joke character, though, and I rolled him on blueside. His name was "Grammar 5th Columnist" and he did nothing but sit in chat, correcting people's grammar and spelling. I got tired of the joke and deleted him after only one "session" :D

I've finally gotten around to resurrecting a particular trio of characters I had back on live, a team I called "Los Colores". They're triplet sisters from Argentina. I was originally inspired to create them after reading about a town in Argentina that has a very disproportionate number of multiple births. There is a theory that Nazi Dr. Wossname had something to do with this, as he performed experiments with twins in concentration camps, and fled to Argentina after the war. The sisters call themselves, "Colores Primarios", "Colores Secundarios", and "Colores Neutrales". They wear costumes that are identical except for the colors. I haven't had time yet to get a full set of screenshots, but I wanted to share this one of Primarios because of the completely inappropriate comment from a Skull in Kings Row.

So how tall do you guys make your characters?
RikOz replied to Beef Ninja's topic in General Discussion
Unless I have a specific reason for a character to be taller or shorter, I don't bother with the Height slider. However, like the two previous posters, I usually shorten my female characters' legs. It appears to me that the original devs gave the female model "comic book legs" by default. And I think the unnaturally long legs of comic book women works well with a comic book's static images, and probably even for 2D animation (cartoons). But the unnaturally longs legs don't, in my opinion, work well for 3D animated models. They look okay when the character is standing still, but as soon as they start running ... ouch. They end up looking horribly bowlegged, particularly with the default wider hips. So the first thing I do with my female models is drag both the Legs and Hips sliders all the way down, and then I rebalance the narrowed hips by boosting the Physique slider to put a bit of meat back on them. -
I've seen this a few times myself.

First time I've ever spotted this one in Atlas Park: Community Relations Officer: There have been rumors that some of the refugees have been stealing local pets and eating them. We've investigated and have made one arrest. I would like to stress that this was an isolated incident.

I just now had a momentary thought to roll a male version of Doc Delilah, and two seconds later it dawned on me that Doc Delilah is already a nod to Doc Samson.

Gravedigger Chopper: I'm too good looking. That's what it is. She couldn't take it. (Jeez, so much great material in the Hollows)

CoH when you've been playing other games for too long.
RikOz replied to Aeroprism's topic in General Discussion
In WoW, I had one of my mouse side buttons bound to "auto run", but in CoH that same button toggles my travel powers on and off. More than once I've accidentally turned off my flight in mid-air when I meant to activate auto run. In the opposite direction, after Live shut down and I went back to WoW, I kept finding myself standing in front of portals, clicking on them and wondering why the instance wasn't starting, and then remembering that I just needed to walk through them. In CoH I also grew accustomed to the fact that even my level 1 characters could make a standing leap over a 10-foot fence or wall, so when I went back to WoW I was constantly frustrated when, even on a mount, I couldn't jump over a waist-high obstacle. -
The Sewer Network: What might revitalize this?
RikOz replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
Drain Cleaner Hero! We have an emergency! We've received a panicked radio message from city sewer workers who were attempting to dislodge a giant fatberg. The fatberg suddenly came to life! Now it has them trapped, and this sentient blob is threatening to completely clog the sewer system! Please, you must defeat Fatbergenstein, and rescue the workers from a horrible fate! Clean the drains! Talk about what else is going on -
I'm similar - I'll often pick one costume piece that is present in every costume. Most often, it's the same belt used with every costume. And hair color is the main reason I don't use certain hats - the ones that include hair. It's just impossible to get the same hair color, particularly if I'm trying to make the hat match the rest of the costume. I do have one character who doesn't stick to a specific color scheme. Each of her ten costumes uses different colors, and she changes her hair color to match. Her wing color, too. She has the small, feathery wings growing from her shoulders (can't recall the name of them right now), and she dyes the feathers along with her hair). I always customize power colors, though I don't usually bother changing travel power colors. Now that we can customize teleporter colors, it occurred to me that things like the Base Teleporter or the Long Range Teleporter are not part of my character's power set. Lore-wise, it would appear that these are tech devices, probably built by somebody else, so there's no reason their effects should match the colors of my powers any more than the gasoline I put in my car needs to match my car's paintjob. On the other hand, I have a tech-origin Energy Blast character who designed her costume to match the color of the energy generated by her gear.

At lower levels, you likely don't have that proc available yet, and in any case, it seems to me that half the fun of playing a stalker is sneaking up and one-shotting the first mob in a spawn. And yeah, to some people I probably "go slowly", since I like to do full clears of every map. I've heard several people mention stealthing all the way to the end of the map to just defeat the boss or click the glowie, but for me that would defeat the purpose. Aside from all the XP you're missing by doing that, it feels too much like the "go-go-go" mentality in WoW. This is one area, though, where I'll say that a WoW rogue's stealth is superior. It's manually activated, so you make your first attack from stealth, kill whatever you need to, and then as soon as you're out of combat you hit the button again and instantly re-stealth.
-
And the -1 option is there for those times when a particular character seems to get every mission spawning mobs at +1 by default (WHY does that even happen?!). Setting to -1 in those cases will bring the mobs back down to your level. This is particularly helpful when you're below level 20 or so. An orange lieutenant (particularly Circle of Thorns or Vahz) can just ruin your day at those levels.
-
You know how, when you're doing a Freakshow mission, you end up waiting around for a bit after defeating each spawn, just in case one or more of them come popping back up? Stalkers waiting for Hide to kick back in after combat makes every enemy group as tedious as Freaks!

Powers with "Crunch"... and those without
RikOz replied to oedipus_tex's topic in General Discussion
At least one of the Sonic sounds, when it hits the target, seems to use the same sound effect that WoW uses when certain types of objects land in your bags after looting a kill or a treasure chest. I want to say it's when you loot something like a document or letter. Not gonna re-up my WoW sub just to check, though ;P -
As of last night, I'm up to 97. I also have spreadsheets for the ATs I play, but those are just to keep track of which powerset combos I've used, to avoid duplicates.

Powers with "Crunch"... and those without
RikOz replied to oedipus_tex's topic in General Discussion
"Eviscerate" from Claws has a terrible sound effect. It's a T8 power. Your character leaps into the air, performs an aerial somersault, and delivers a two-handed slice to your opponent, dealing a great of damage, and the sound goes ... "pif". Just "pif"; a second "f" is unwarranted. It is horribly, horribly anticlimactic, especially in comparison to the lower-tier powers in the set. -
Not to mention that they felt the need so often to give you the "tourist route" - your taxi arrives at your destination, but instead of just landing it insists on making a grand loop around the whole area so that you can take in the scenery. ALL of the scenery.

Keep in mind that base flight speed is around 60 MPH.
