I've got a parody character of Dr Forrester from MST3k that I will gladly take a generic on and redo his look, name and origin. He was a "for fun" creation and I have zero attachment. All my other characters are all originals with looks, names and origin stories (sadly, I see very few people with origin stories...I love a good origin story) created by me. Whether this is part of the NCSoft negotiations or the HC team is just getting some ducks in a row to continue to protect themselves, I'm good with it. I know saying "like it or leave it" sets people ablaze, but I think in this case it really does ring true. I also think "you can't please everyone" rings true as well. I feel for the people that invested a lot of time into their characters that are copyright infringements, but in the back of your minds...didn't you know? Just a little? Hopefully this will mean costume contests will be more interesting as well. No more ripoff characters spamming their ripoff battle cries.

Thanks for that info, Lost Ninja. I've been having the same issue with the UI. I'll have to give your settings commands next time I play.

I'll echo Willpower. It's a tad rough early on, but after awhile, you just go and go and go. Add in the Energy ancillary power pool and take the end discount power and the recover/healing one and it's just crazy.

Ah, impatience and entitlement at its finest. It's a shame people like that filter into mmos, but they do and give the gold farmers easy targets. I'm wondering how they're advertising, though. I've never seen anything in various chat channels or gotten a /tell like would happen on live.

Most do. There are some that, in my opinion, either like to rock the boat or just can't take "wait and see" as an answer. Some are very vocal (and a joy to /ignore) and as we all know, the vocal minority can make a non issue seem huge.

Just be ready for the emotional roller coaster that this story arc brings. Pandora's Box was ok, but Who Will Die has some unforgettable moments that really twist the knife (at least hero side).

Yeah, I was waaaaaay up in the air, flying to Posi when I clicked it. I just sat there dumbfounded for a moment and then took that screenie in between fits of laughter. Sooooo glad that didn't happen in a mission or something where enemies would agro on me. The woman that photobombed me didn't seem too impressed either.

So, while doing part 5 of Pandora's Box, I lost track of Positron...and then found him. Needless to say, he wasn't impressed.

So, I have the Secondary Mutation power from the p2w vendor and as I was flying through Steel Canyon, it recharged and I hit it...and turned into a Rikti Monkey. Full on, everything turned off, falling to the ground, all I can do is slap and fart...Rikti Monkey. It only lasted about a minute, but it was the first time I can ever remember this happening. I grabbed a screenshot because it was just too bizarre.

I had a situation last night that made me think of this thread. It also ended with me doing something I haven't done in any game in yeeeeeears: quit without saying a word. So, I'm on my kinetics/rad defender, just looking for a team. Someone shouts out they're putting together a double feature team and is asking for a healer. (red flag 1, not buff/debuff...just "healer") I join and it's a tanker that couldn't be more of a rip off of the Thing if Jack Kirby descended from Heaven and drew him, a PB that stayed in lobster form and the leader was a Heath Ledger Joker knockoff as a blaster. (red flags 2-4) We que up and when we get in, I head for the vendor to get inspirations. I see that only myself and the tanker have zoned in so far, so no rush. Suddenly, cut-scene. (red flag 5) I pop into the arena first and everything just molly whops me before anyone else zones in. Then everyone else appears and the PB lets out a "lol" at my being down already. (red flag 6) I hospital it to the lobby and zip back in to see the tank and pb chasing the minotaur around like a Benny Hill sketch. No taunts, just constantly trying to catch it and hit it while it chases the blaster around because he's doing all the damage. (at this point, I'm thinking about investing in red flags) The blaster and I drop several times, the PB goes down once and all the while the PB is "lol"ing at the whole situation. I thought about this thread at that moment and wondered if I should say a polite "if the tank can taunt and hold the enemies on him, I can keep him alive and we can take the minotaur down". He has taunt, he's just not using it and guess who the angels are targeting. Guess who can't keep anyone healed because he's either getting destroyed by the angels or nobody is close enough to the minotaur to be healed. It goes like this for an uncomfortable amount of time, but I've always been the grit your teeth and pull through type so, away we go. Finally, the minotaur drops and just before the ninjas show, the blaster says "whoever said they could heal, lied". /quitteam When I popped back into Atlas Park, I moved back a bit and watched the spot the group left from. Sure enough, about 10 seconds later the tank popped back in and ran off towards the tram. The PB and blaster followed a few seconds later and the blaster started his sales pitch again. I shook my head and logged off.

I'd settle for NCSoft releasing some buried stuff that never got leaked into the Homecoming team's hands. The Coming Storm? Moon Base? A guy can dream.

*Update* The latest patch seemed to fix whatever phantom bug he had so, all is right in the world again. I'm still not sure what caused it, but I'm glad it's fixed.

Bingo. This game is super user friendly and fairly idiot proof. I've been on teams where a couple people pull the fat out of the fire continuously, but everyone had a fun time. You never know who's behind the keyboard and there might be circumstances to the behavior. I saw one person have something in their character description about only having one good hand to play so they couldn't type and attack at the same time. They asked for patience at the end of the description and it really hits home that, at the end of the day, it's a game and we're all here to have a good time. Digging into someone isn't a good time for them and shouldn't be what other consider a good time.

So, my uncle (who played religiously during live but isn't a "forum person" so I'm asking for him) has been having a strange issue since the update. At first, he kept getting an error that said "MSVCP149.dll is missing". I walked him through getting that fixed (took awhile since it was via messenger) and he was finally able to acceas the 32bit and 64bit versions. Now, any new character he makes can't use attacks. Every other power works, but hitting keys or clicking the icon with his mouse for attacks results in nada. His older characters work just fine, this is only on any new charcters. I vaguely remember hearing of this before, but have no idea how to fix it. If anyone has a fix, I'd be grateful and you'd really make his day.
