I don’t understand how Many otherwise intelligent and discerning posters are able to make this obvious error comparing something that lasts 60 seconds and you can only carry a few of to something that lasts up to 8 hours. No, inspirations are Not comparable to or better than amps.
These look to me like they will be attractive to people interested in prioritizing travel in their slotting, while not being so good as to make them absolutely essential for anyone else.
They are a strong Flavor addition.
I might have one or two characters I will use them on.
they’re pretty massive. I don’t know about game breaking, but they basically eliminate any sort of curve of power from the first twenty five levels or so.
Stealth radius drops for a moment.
I haven’t tested extensively yet, maybe I will be able to later today.
It looks to me though, initially, like if I switch from Stealth to Infiltration I never go below Infil’s stealth radius, but if I switch from Infil to Stealth there is a fraction of a second where I am not stealthed at all.
I really don’t know how unusual it is. I don’t leave those on in combat because they cost too much endurance and I find going in and out of suppressed movement jarring and irritating.
It is incredibly frustrating that toggling on Stealth when you are currently not visible with Infiltration actually makes you visible for a moment. Obviously the workaround is to switch them further away, but still. I feel like if Stealth and Infiltration are going to remain mutually exclusive then it it not a lot to ask that one should be able to switch between the two without being seen.
You are supposed to be able to stay in Granite as long as necessary, but you're not supposed to live in it all the time. That's part of the point of these changes, to make the Rest of the set attractive enough that Granite is something you hit only if you're having big trouble keeping upright.
Spines uses impale because it has nothing better. Impale is still bad.
Claws is the only melee set with a ranged attack that isn’t pretty bad, and it doesn’t get build up, as I already mentioned.
I think someone would have to make a pretty compelling argument that the amplifiers are NEEDED for new characters. With the availability of Merits (and the ease of turning them into Inf) and the availability of SOs, I would guess that's a very difficult argument to make.
And, I should add, Focus is in a set that doesn't get Build Up, except for Stalkers. AFAIK no Melee set with Build Up includes a ranged attack with DPS comparable to its melee attacks.
