I really like @Auroxis build above, but if you wanted to have a crack with Ice mastery for more theme you could do something like below: HP is capped when Hoarfrost is up which also gives you a big heal like energise above - no endurance reduction though 😞 I always like to run superspeed so gone with that and CJ but YMMV Ice mastery gives you access to build up! so that recharges in the same time as Blizzard to give you a strong nuke booster. Still got the pet Frosty to mirror the adept pet taken above. I went with 3 damage procs in LS since it is going to be a lot of your damage potential spamming that. Fold space is there for pulling more mobs into your rains Would probably end up running Ageless Core with this despite the Vigor Core Alpha slot. Defender (Storm Summoning - Ice Blast).mbd

Exactly why I went for it. Works really nicely!

I have psi on my psi/sr and dark on my dark/dark. both are solid options tbf, just they bring more utility vs elec which is just pure damage

So we are saying here that we don't need to maximise our damage in the build because (iTrial) leagues will be dropping lores on hard targets? I mean I guess so, but then the logic extrapolates to might as well just slot SOs because lores will help with the hard targets. Why even bother getting set bonuses? Just use barrier core to help with your survivability. But this then is new logic being applied, because its completely irrelevant outside the end game. Which you haven't mentioned before as something you are interesting in building towards. So which is it? Even then, that makes no sense. Why wouldn't you maximise performance if you could? It isn't like my build I posted above is significantly more expensive or cheaper than just slotting full sets as the meta was back on live servers. (I will concede on the wording of maximise performance that you could argue that chasing defense bonuses will maximise performance in survivability, but I will reinstate my point earlier that just huffing purples and using barrier core and being maximised on damage will perform much better than being built for survival and then being limited on your damage) Help me to understand the build philosophy here, because I must be missing something obvious that you're seeing (because I cannot currently understand)
-
I said what I said to highlight that your view is not logical. If you don't believe that, then that's on you. As the others have said, what you said earlier regarding lazy level 50 builds and building to exemplar just don't make sense. If you want to exemp below lvl 30 all the time that's a totally fine way to play. In that case by all means, use your later picks to get attuned set bonuses etc. If you are playing any content from lvl 30-50 and you aren't taking epic/patron pools and their associated high DPA attacks then you are objectively gimping your damage potential. Again, that's fine if you wish to do that. I do not. Which is why I build the way I do, and then posted said build above. Am I being unreasonable here?
-
So because exemplaring is "on your mind" you don't take the most powerful attacks available to you? How far down the levels is your cut off point? Skipping the nuke because you can't have it on DFB? It just isn't a logical argument.

Not the wisest take here. The melee attacks are the strongest single target attacks available to Sents and the PBAoE's are also equal to what is usually on offer from the primary. Similarly, energy and body mastery are great at what they do, but you're still sacrificing something i.e. huge single and AOE damage opportunities. fire armour cannot really stack any meaningful defense without making serious sacrifices to your damage output. 1-4 purple insps will boost your survival exponentially more than 4 red insps will boost your damage. Therefore, imo, you're better off doing what fire does best. This is damage, healing and resist/max hp. Don't try to waste time and inf filling the defense hole when insps are plentiful and free. Also burn and fireball will be helping with knockdown to help mitigate some damage. Can also slot the ragnarok KD hi rain of fire if you wish.

Just for reference, this is how my fire/fire sent it slotted. It works relatively well so far. Sentinel (Fire Blast - Fiery Aura) 2.mbd

Dark Blast/Super Reflexes/Mace Mastery - Build advice request
Black_Assassin replied to BILL_C's topic in Sentinel
I would run this, since it affords you a damage aura from Elec mastery and a strong ST melee attack. It is also your strongest DPA attack once your build is slotted: Don't bother chasing any resistance set bonuses. You will be relying on the scaling resists provided by Agile and the Reactive Defenses IO Sentinel (Dark Blast - Super Reflexes).mbd -
What Sent combo best showcases what Sentinels excel at?
Black_Assassin replied to mistagoat's topic in Sentinel
I've had a Fire/Fire sent forever stuck at lvl 26. I logged it today and realised that it was actually lvl 50! but had only been levelled up to 26, so I will be slotting that soon and enjoying another sent 🙂 -
Vigor/Cardiac for storm trollers and ageless core. I've never once had anyone say anything about aoe immobilises, but then I mostly play on Torchbearer so maybe it's just a server issue? I do like mu mastery on my storm corruptors though, as they have blasts already and I'll tend to go musc/int

Just for reference here is mine: I don't ever rely much on defense on stormies and never have issues. I went for earth because its way more damage options and +Rech proc and you can easily cap HP then. The build up proc in Tornado is wasted, it doesn't do anything. Better for pets if you have the space. You have the ATO damage proc in vines, so you will barely ever see it proc since it will be used so infrequently, this is why I slot mine in Tornado (and the energy font) because then its happening often. Also roots has a a relatively high base damage compared to all other controller AOE immobs, I would suggest slotting it for damage as you will (and should) be firing it off cooldown as it will be one of your main sources of damage. (I say this from experience of a fire/storm troller where fire cages, which i can fire off every other power click if I wish is always the 2nd highest source of my damage behind hot feet) Divine Elements - Controller Plant Control - Storm Summoning).mbd

Beam Rifle / Rad - advice and guidence
Black_Assassin replied to Naturallymorbid's topic in Sentinel
Just use a 50 common accuracy IO, and then join Hami raids as often as you can, they will drop eventually for you if you do a hami raid every day -
You got combat jumping? Thats a game changing power for kiting targets and jousting

Beam Rifle / Rad - advice and guidence
Black_Assassin replied to Naturallymorbid's topic in Sentinel
I would run something like this: Proton therapy is a 600 heal and 25 endurance click, thats useful You got particle shield too with the absorb. 2x power transfer in the background for what they're worth. Solid resists across the board with Meltdown to cap Smash/Lethal/Energy when you need it 100% slow resist to ensure your clicks some back on time with a +rech proc in Havoc to help out. Just hits 95% accuracy to +3s in all powers Ground zero is proc bombed, so it knocks down, debuffs resist and fills your end bar at the same time as doing damage. Want to be using ground zero to open then disintegrate, aim and then hitting them with refractor to put all those damage procs and -res on up to 10 targets then slamming them with Overcharge. What Sent combo best showcases what Sentinels excel at?
Black_Assassin replied to mistagoat's topic in Sentinel
I don't have a fleshed out fire blast sentinel, but I do have a Psi/SR sent at 50. I like SR, its easy and requires no management. Only have 1 click to use when you get low on HP and thats it. -
Maybe T1 can be 3 weapon/shield dudes. Maybe a broadsword, axe and mace (club) (when upgraded they all get grant cover maybe 5% unenhanceable? so they give the MM and pets 15% def to m/r/a T2 can be a shaman (team buffs/heals think poison alkaloid on a low cd and, enemy debuffs again maybe some kind of poison clones or he has to get in close to apply them PBAoE like poison trap? and then maybe some kind of low level knife attacks with to some kind of area control powers like caltrops etc) and a dog/wolf handler. Maybe the dog handler can have a sling and he just fires weak rocks and people but summons 3 T1 dog pets of his own that attack random targets) T3 can be a berserker. Maybe a TW/WP brute who wades in wielding his gigantic two handed axe and lays waste to everyone around him. What might be interesting having a power on the MM that is called "ambush warfare" which places all the pets into a stealth until they attack, when they attack they get 1 crit, like with ninjas but then your "berserker" goes berserk gaining a huge tohit and damage boost and resistances but starts his health bar draining and turns off his regeneration so that damage 'sticks'. The buff will wear off when he dies or after a period of time. The Shaman will target the berserker when he is berserking to focus his heals and buffs to try keep him alive through his red mist. MM attacks are melee based mace attacks, so maybe bash, pulverise and crowd control clones with adjusted damages

Serves those pesky Romans right for coming into our forest.

Having no hasten means no perma creepers. thats a bit meh

This is what I plan to slot in mine. Planning to go with Leviathan and colour it light brown to be a sand storm instead of water 🙂 same with Bile Spray, for a sand based spew. Went with Fold space so can pull stragglers and new mobs into the control zone. Hasten is 3s off perma, however 1 activation of a FFB +rech proc will solve that issue and 65% slow resists to limit debuffs from slowing you down. Lots of Proc damage slotted into the AOEs. Stalagmites and Fissure to open and offer plenty of AOE stun. I wanted to fully proc out Tremor, but decided against it to keep the global recharge and accuracy high. Haven't bothered wasting any slots on KB>KD as stone cages solves that issue Hope this gives you some new ideas you can think about 🙂 Dominator (Earth Control - Earth Assault).mbd

Enojy the journey, I remember when I came back to Homecoming for the first time too ❤️

Even something really simple like this could be a start point. Utilise hover in the early levels to stay above your targets out of their melee range, and in the later levels you can put Darkest night debuff on any hard targets to reduce their chance to hit you. You have an absorb click and heal click to stay healthy 🙂

Piggy backing on what is posted above to provide some context on why a sentinel might be good for you specifically: You are ranged and your secondary is an armour set. So you don't have to worry as much about getting blown up by your targets! The current FOTM armour sets on sentinel are Bio and Radiation armour however they are both quite active in their mitigation. So you will have to "manage" the armour to get the most out of them. If you wanted an armour that is set and forget, allowing you to focus on your blasts more I would suggest you explore super reflexes, ninjitsu or stone. Or potentially regeneration, energy aura or invulnerability. Blast sets it probably wont matter what you pick, but Fire/Elec/Beam are top in terms of available DPS but depends on your final slotting. Fire for example prefers to just be straight up slotted with sets and minimal damage procs, whereas the other sets offer easy use of damage procs to increase your damage output. (as a returning player, you could also just ignore the IO Set system entirely till you relearn the game and just stick to basic LVL25 or 30 basic common IOs 🙂 )
